I had to update my review after coming here for years. I came in for my regular oil change and they talked me into a car wash. My wipers were in an upward position when I got my car back. I had asked the guy to double check that the windshield wiper fluid had been topped off as it wasn't last time. He assured me my wipers were fine. I tried to use them and they flew off. One got tangled and slammed down on my windshield, cracking it. I took the car back and they tried to sell me new wipers. Absolutely awful. I wish I could give negative stars.

Sun Auto repaired my alternator on my Lexus 350 ES in 2021 as well as replaced my battery. Within one year my battery was dead and had to be replaced again in September 2022, I am now going on my 3rd battery replacement which they said it not covered under their warranty. How is it I have gone through 3 batteries within a 2 year period. They must not use good quality parts, Do not go to them they are not good!Services: Auto water leak repair, Battery

This might be one of the only totally honest car repair shops in this town! Crazy Terry is the owner and he is a genius. He's got a great crew to work on your car and he oversees everything. They try to find the least expensive way to get your car back up and running. They never added an extra things you don't need. They always tell you everything that your car absolutely needs and then another list of things that maybe your car should have now but everything is optional and they're very trustworthy. I love these guys! I've been taking my car's there for 10 years. And they do a $15 oil change for almost any car! The oil changes are always with an appointment so the good news is you wait for your car to be finished but you know that they're going to take you when you arrive on time.

We were recommended here from the Jiffy Lube up the street. We had taken it there to get an inspection of a leak we had, jiffy lube had already told us the issue but that we needed to take it somewhere else to be fixed. I ll start off by saying the customer service at Sun Valley Automotive was exceptional, they were quick and friendly. However they told us they fixed the leak and drove it for 2 miles, no leak. When we got home, it was already leaking they had advised us that it could be old oil falling off so we just let it go. Not even a week later it was dripping profusely, a steady drip. We had placed mats under the car to monitor it. We called and took it back, after looking at it they told us it was now a leak on the other side of the car and was a completely different part that needed to be fixed. (The leak was in the same place on the mats.) They charged us again to fix this issue. This is our family car, so it needed to be fixed. Hopefully it is, but our trust in this establishment is gone. We will not be returning as it was the same issue within the span of a week and they charged us twice to fix what wasn t fixed the first time.

I've been looking for a straightforward and honest car mechanic in town and I think I found them. They're always willing to work with you and they're usually very good on their prices and quite honest. At least that's been my experience so far. I've taken my car to them several times in the last several years. In addition, they have extended hours of operation so that's always convenient as I usually drop the car off after work and pick it up the next day or the following day at my leisure. Very convenient.

We have been taking our cars to Sun Valley Automotive for 7 years now. They are knowledgeable, helpful, reliable and their prices are very reasonable. They even helped us get free maintenance through the manufacturer's warranty on a prior vehicle instead of getting the job themselves. That really sold us on their honesty.They are also friendly, the shop is open almost 24/7 and they have a small waiting area outside with free drinks. VERY NICE.

Brought my car in today and I am so happy! Check engine light was on and we already knew why so they used the Diagnostics test cost towards the repair. Very friendly, answered all of our questions and got my car back in 6 hours!! Only confusing part was why I was almost charged $250 for the mechanic to reset the drive cycle and then smog my car. Maybe I'm just naive but I'm not sure why that would cost so much. Overall, great experience! Will definitely go back!

Scheduled an appointment for an oil change for 9:30am this morning. I show up around 9:40am and they tell me they automatically cancel appointments after ten minutes. They say the earliest they can get me in is 6pm. The waiting room is completely empty and they cant managed an oil change if you're 10 minutes late. I'll take my business somewhere they appreciate it.

Extremely friendly, we went on a Sunday to fix my friends car who's air-conditioning had failed. She was on a tight schedule for a road trip and they managed to have it diagnosed and fixed by midday the next day! Great service and great prices, highly recommended.

They always take great care of my vehicles. They only offer services I really need and they'll tell me if something should be done but isn't urgent. I feel like they're honest and I trust them with my cars, my mom's car and even my daughter's car. They also have very extended hours so I can always find time to get my car to the shop.

Hi, I needed an oil change for my truck. Sun Valley changed the oil & filter that I supplied. All was good. I checked my oil level by the dip stick, & it was right on the full mark. They only charged $25.00 service to change filter & oil. Great Job

I usually never have any issue with these guys but the last 2 phone calls were absolutely ridiculous. Called for a quote on a complete flush and they said they'd call back with one. Never got a call...Yesterday, I called to schedule an oil change for my girlfriend's car. He confirmed 2 available appointments and I selected 5. Showed up at 4:55 only to have them tell me there were no appointments in her name at all and the guy was getting ready to leave. Drove all the way there for nothing, major disappointment...

I call in this morning simply to get a quote or estimate and an appointment time to drop off my truck at 8:00am. I left my contact info, and exactly what was needed and was told someone would call me back with the information I needed. By 1:45pm I had heard nothing So I called back. I was told someone was going to check and call me back, nothing. 4:45pm I called back only to be told some one will call me tomorrow. I've wasted a whole day, and now I have to find somewhere else. Very poor way to treat a potential customer. I will take my business elsewhere. And any future repairs on any of our 3 vehicles will not be done here.# would have been a life long customer

Dishonest!Took our Chevy in for a freon recharge ...it's 10 years old & never had a problem, but they insisted that it needed more work than it did. They broke our dipstick and then charged us $20 for a new one, also lied about the labor charges, adding an extra $100 to our bill. Basically they doubled our bill adding bogus crap that I know did not need to be done because I had just had done what they said it needed (brakes, oil and various filters).I have been a customer for over 10 years, ever since they moved locations the service has rapidly declined, now they no better than Purrfect Auto!

We have gone here for years and had great service until a few months ago. We have been told contradicting things and today was the final straw. We spoke to the owner who not only was rude, insulting and condescending but instigated a disagreement with us and one of his employees. We were trying to get an oil change and detail, but there was confusion on the part of the front desk person. There is definitely an issue with training and communication. This horrible customer service cost him thousands of dollars in service and we will no longer recommend them.

I've had a real problem with having my problems solved the first time. Be it a leak or my power steering pump, I've had to revisit Sun Valley at least 3 times before they were fixed. With that being said, they were always cordial, they did not charge me for their service after the first visit, and the problems were eventually fixed.

Been using Sun Valley Auto for a while without any problems. Will never use again. I brought in my Mustang for a routine oil change and transmission flush. All seemed fine when I left, but noticed a fluid smell shortly after. Brought it back two days later and they say my power steering pump is leaking. I brought them a mechanically sound vehicle with no leaks and left with one. Will never return and will be reporting to the Automotive Board.

I brought in two vehicles for relatively simple work for "mechanic's", spent almost 3K. They screwed up BOTH job's, had to bring both back three time's and THEY STILL SCREWED THEM UP. New radiator leaking, had the nerve to jump the battery they drained and give to me and next day battery was dead, same with other vehicle and bottom line DIDN'T FIX anything right. I have to have another mechanic do the work I won't ever go back. DO NOT RECOMMEND

Their website said they do radiator repair. I went in talked to the cashier. I asked if they did radiator repair they said yes but only if they remove the radiator from the car and they actually don't fix them they replace them. That way they can charge you 400.00 for a 200.00 part plus 600.00 for labor. Nice . Thankfully I do my own work and work on my friends cars trying to save them money

The other day I thought it would be a great idea to recharge my a/c unit of my 2003 Toyota Corolla, however, I over charged it and oil was leaking out of my unit. My neighbor came over and said I blew the seals on the compressor, so I panic and asked Sun Valley Auto to replace the compressor. After they looked into the problem they said there is no need for a new compressor and properly recharged my a/c compressor with the right amount of Freon. Thanks to Mike at Sun Valley Auto for his honesty, they could have charged me $ 856.00, but instead I was only on the hook for $80.00. I will definitely use them again for my future automotive needs.

I've been going here for years. They aren't the cheapest but I know it's going to get fixed and be done correctly. They covered two things they had fixed under warrantee although I was late both times. They are friendly, communicate really well and quickly. They have this great line of T Shirts that are really well done, for sale. It's all well worth what I pay and I keep going back! They are open tilmalmost midnight!

Took my vehicle in for a starting problem. They charged me $200.00 to diagnose the problem and cleaned the fuel igniters. I took it back a week later for the same problem. They kept it an entire Saturday and said everything checked out fine. A week later my vehicle wouldn't start at all. I rent a car to get back and forth to work and was going to have it towed back to them. The tow truck driver said it was the battery, jumped it and I drove it to Pep Boys to get the battery replaced. It starts fine now. I am a 67 year old female and don't think anyone should use them, let alone a senior citizen. These guys are either extremely inept or take advantage of seniors. AARP will be notified.

Came in late night for an oil change without an appointment. Guys found some time and took me in. Both of them were very nice and took care of my car promptly. Will definitely return again!

Needed a smog check due to getting off work late. Based on reviews I gave them a call. Smog check is until 11:30pm. The night I needed it they had no smog tech. I verified that they were supposed to have a tech but he left at 6. Lesson learned and I'll never go for any service now.

Went in to get my oil changed and tires rotated. I was worried about my tires since I had recently made several log road trips, including one literally across the country.I was assured that if my tires needed to be replaced, they would let me know.They rotated my tires and never told me that one of them was not even fixible. It had to be completely replaced. My tire rotation was on Friday. Now I m having to replace all four tires and I was never made aware of this.

Went in at about 9Pm on Saturday June 8th to get a smog on my vehicle. I was told that it did not pass smog, but the person behind the counter could not tell me what the code meant why I did not pass smog, but if I wanted to bring it back for $94.00 I could bring it back tomorrow and they could put it on their machine and tell me what was wrong with it. I went home and contacted a friend who said the code on my failed smog was for a break light switch.....what the hell does my brakes have to do with my emissions. So Sunday we went to the car was at Charleston and Torrey Pines that also does smog....GUESS WHAT.....my vehicle passed smog without a hitch, Do not go to Sun Valley Automotive,,,,,if you do and you don't pass get a second opinion. I wonder what they would have said if I let them put it on their machine. Nice waiting room, but I guess they have to make money somewhere to pay for it.

Took my vehicle in as it was pulling slightly to the left. Specifically requested to have the alignment and front end checked out. assessment was as follows: "we recommend getting this vehicle aligned properly and pull should go away". Here's the kicker - Sun Valley doesn't perform alignments! $120 for absolutely nothing. What a joke. Save your time and $$ and go somewhere else.

The most amazing experience! The day before my family & I were headed home to California the unexpected happened--my engined locked. I was devastated (had to leave the vehicle in Vegas), desperate (protect my family's fears & get them home safe), unprepared (financially for a major repair,), spent, under the weather & had to return to work the next morning when the repair tech delivered the news. Although I'd lost my vehicle I had no idea it would be replaced with a great friendship! The repair tech, Sean, was comforting, kind & offered to help in any way--and he did just that! Most places would have still charged both service & storage fees--not this one! Another step further, he assisted me (as a go between) in selling my vehicle to a junk car dealer of which involved transfer of title, $$, etc. Talk about HONESTY, CARE, RELIABILITY & QUALITY OF SVC ? In my opinion I found them all in Sean and the Sun Valley Auto Team! Best of all I was reminded that beautiful people still exist in the world--thanks Sean! I'm grateful for the friendship & will see you and your family soon.

I've been using Sun Valley since before they moved into the new building. I know I can trust them to do my repairs, stand by their work and give me a fair price.What else can I ask for? Well coffee in the waiting room would be nice!
