A good place for short stay with just about sufficient breakfast options... No reason to complain but it's not a grand one.I was a bit unhappy with the small size towels.Overall, it's a well maintained hotel, good rooms with comfortable beds and fresh sheets. Nice view of the Topaz Lake.Rooms: Spacious and well maintained.

We were taken care of very well- we have been staying there while our house was being fixed- The owners (Shelly & Sham) went way beyond their services to make sure we were accommodated -along with Heather their employee!! Their breakfast is continental however it was always fresh !! Easy things which are quick and easy to fix !! Beautiful location looking over Topaz Lake Restaurants are near by - some within a few minutes but if you want more variety then only 15/20 minutes it worked out great for us!!We would recommend staying here anytime beautiful scenery

Ive stayed at this place 3-4 times in the past 4-5 years. Usually 2-3 days but this last visit I stayed a week and thought it time to write a thorough review as this is one of those places that is just put right pleasant and has always been consistent with service....and the VIEW is just spectacular l, especially sunset and sunrise with a few clouds over the lake! This is a Great place to escape from civilization. Nestled on the mountainside at about 5500 feet with a gorgeous view of the lake that has year round fishing, and In the fall, it's not uncommon to see deer walking on the property. This Best Western has Super BIG...HUGE... rooms. Bigger than most other hotels. Super Friendly staff. Shelly is very pleasant and socialable. I think she is the front desk manager, but seems like she wears many hats, as most good (and few) workers do in any hotel.Good breakfast with lots of options. I stayed for a week during my last stay and everyday there was a hot waffle with lots of toppings, most days had eggs and/or Sausage patty, a couple days had A Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwich and breakfast burritos and everyday had yogurt, eggs, a good variety of breads and cereal....plenty to fuel your morning. Seems they change up breakfast a bit when they know they have a work crew in for a few days that need a quick breakfast they can just heat and eat on the go. I tipped the hostess $1 each day I ate. If my husband was with me on this trip, I would have tipped $2 at each breakfast... hindsight, I should have left an extra $5 for her at the front desk when I checked out. She was really hustling to keep up with everyone and tried to steal a moment to ask about your morning or wish you safe travels.I only had my room serviced once during the week. This seems to be the industry standard for the past 5-6 years. I have been noticing hotels doing this everywhere from the Rockies to West Coast...all the way up to Alaska and thru Canada....Marriott, Choice hotels and Best Western. I personally like not having my room serviced everyday. It wastes time, water, resources and electricity to wash towels after one use when a guest stays for 2-3-4 days, and it's no problem to swap out wet towels if it was one of those days that warranted an extra shower. I did ask for extra coffee and creamer and trash bags every other day from the front desk, and I would just set my trash outside my door in the morning. I wish they kept a garbage can on each floor at the midway point, but maybe they have their reasons. The little interaction I had with housekeeping was pleasant when they serviced my room and left they extra coffee and creamer when asked. I left them an $8 dollar tip when I left with a note thanking them for doing a good job cleaning the rooms. I'm not sure what housekeepers make these days, but I'm sure they appreciate a few extra dollars. They are some of the many under appreciated service workers. The hot tub is seasonal at this mountainside hotel and was very pleasant and with a nice view of the mountains... nice and quiet.Be PREPARED for winter driving conditions in the Eastern Sierra from about October thru April... having been around this area for many years, I've seen it snow late into May.Only ONE dinner option in the casino next door in this quiet little resort area 20 miles from the main town area of Gardnerville/Minden, And NO FOOD DELIVERY, SO PLAN ACCORDINGLY. However there is a Family Dollar and a small market about 5 miles. Between the two you can pick up sandwich fixings, can foods and microwave meals. They have two vending machines, one with beverages and one well stocked with a wide variety of snacks: fruit/nut snack, candy bars, popcorn, cup of soup. There is a big gazebo in the corner of the property that has a fantastic view of the lake. During my stay, I observed some CalTrans guys using the charcoal BBQ cooking their dinner. The owners/managers obviously take care of the property. Seems every year, I notice something new added or improved upon.I Will definitely keep staying here!Rooms: Spacious rooms! Bigger than most hotels. Well apportioned. Quiet heating/cooling units. BIG tvs. Refrigerator and microwave. Super comfy beds!Nearby activities: Fishing. Hunting. Swimming. Boating. Kayaking. Hiking. Biking. Camping. 4x4 trails. Casino.Safety: Low density high blood income housing nearby. Lots of retirees in the area. Very quiet, comfortable and safe. Very good exterior lighting. I'd sleep outside and feel completely safe.Food & drinks: Good breakfast l, definitely better than most. There is NO dinner restaurant here. That is in the casino next door that is a completely separate business.Noteworthy details: Very nice and spacious gazebo with beautiful view of the lake. Ideal for BBQ or picnic. Charcoal fired BBQ available for use. Ample parking with room for a couple Uhauls or truck and boat. Managers are very personable and accommodating. All the staff seem knowledgeable and helpful.Elevator. Washer/dryer. Well stocked vending machines.**CALL IF YOU ARE A LATE CHECK-IN (AFTER 10PM)**LIMITED DOG ONLY ROOMS. BE SURE TO CALL FOR AVAILABILITY. NO CATS ALLOWED.

Pleasant and clean with great views of the lake. Spacious room, comfy bed. Folks at the desk were gracious and helpful. A good value and I would stay again when traveling Highway 395.

Lady at the front kept trying to charge us for two rooms when we booked only one, then tried to charge us a cancellation fee. The room looked nice, but smelled like celery and cigarettes. There is more water pressure coming out of the sink faucet than the shower head. The water will leave your skin extremely dry. The shower curtain also had some questionable substances on it. We will not book here again.

We stayed one night to split up our drive north. Our room was clean and updated. The bed was comfortable. They had a good selection for the continental breakfast. The gentleman working the desk was friendly.

We stopped at this hotel on our way to Yosemite. Our spacious room was on the 3rd floor overlooking the lake and mountains. The view was spectacular at night with a full moon. The room was very clean and bed comfortable. We were able to use the workout room which consisted of weight machine, treadmill, stationary bike and bench. It would have been nice to have a complete set of dumbbells. The hot tub wasn t as hot as it should be. (Lukewarm ). Breakfast was good- had the usual offerings: scrambled eggs, sausage, cereals, pastries, waffles and juice and coffee. We would definitely stay here again!

Clean and newly refurbished rooms with some views of Topaz Lake. What is not yo like about that? Only 1 washer and dryer available for use. Hotel staff was truly excellent and wonderful to work with. Breakfasts in America need help. Less mass manufacturing of high fructose corn syrup and more natural and organic choices.Stay here for the staff, pretty rooms and views, but not the breakfast.

pet friendly somehow doesn t include cats? They canceled my reservation on arrival after I drove 3 hours (with the aforementioned feline, btw), acting as if bringing a cat to a hotel clearly labeled pet friendly was a weird thing to do.It s odd that that s never happened anywhere else I ve stayed, though the manager didn t miss the opportunity to throw shade at some other hotel brands I mentioned that have had no trouble keeping my previous pet friendly reservations. You don t get to show up in searches as pet friendly and arbitrarily exclude some common animals; that s not how that works. This hotel is not pet friendly.Considering there s nothing else around here & I had to figure out where to stay on a cross country trip with no notice, it didn t seem particularly people friendly, either. At least I know to filter this whole brand out of my hotel searches now.

This location is situated next to a beautiful lake and mountains. The sunrise is magnificent.Overall stay was comfortable and the room's cleanliness could use improvements since the toilet seat cover looked stained and the bathtub had some hair. The rooms are VERY outdated and looks different from photos. Very disappointed with this location.I've stayed with Best Western a couple months ago when I took a road trip to Maine from New Jersey. Since everything went relatively well, I booked with Best Western again for this recent trip.Plenty of parking in the back lot.My check-in experience was off to a negative start. The receptionist clerk checked in a man ahead of me and I heard her ask him how many people would be staying in his room. He said 4, and the clerk then proceeds to have him sign a paper to review costs and to record vehicle make and license plate info. His check-in went smoothly.Unfortunately, my check-in was not nearly as pleasant. I was asked the same question of how many guests would stay in my 2 rooms. I said 4 guests per room, 8 guests total. The clerk told me the double queen bed room is for two people, and there would be an upcharge of $10/person. Now... I have 2 rooms with double queen beds so I had to pay an additional $40 for 4 additional guests.I can't believe the lady charged me extra per guest and waived the charges for the man ahead of me. I do not want to make any assumptions, but I was obviously not treated fairly. I have contacted management and no response. Hopefully they see this feedback and improve on their customer service. Also, working on running an honest business practice would be the righteous thing to do.Lastly, I was attempting to take a panoramic photo, however, I had to cut it short when I realized there was a trailer park next door. I did see a few random people walking in for the complimentary breakfast. I have a feeling they were staying at the trailer park. The gym also. Weds some cleaning. The TV was not working, couldn t put on the news during my work out. Machines were dusty and there is not water dispenser anywhere to be found. There s a mini fridge so I opened it thinking there would be water. I ended up finding. Box of baking soda and it looked like it exploded... somehow. And of course the The fridge was broken with no bottled water.I gave the place 1 star for the sunrise view. Not worth $175 per night for each room. (We stayed here on 12/17/19.I don t understand why other reviewers rated this place so highly.

Clean, comfortable coma quiet hotel on Topaz Lake. The only meal options were the casino next door but that was a good old fashioned dining Room experience. Very quirky very old but the food was good. The hotel was clean and updated and definitely no frills but the beds were super comfortable. Definitely met the requirements for making a stop call my getting a good night's sleep, and enjoying a fairly decent breakfast in the morning.

It's a Best Western, i get it. But... The bed was extremely uncomfortable. At least mine was. Very hard to sleep on. Felt like a cot. Oh, and water in the morning was luke warm at best, even though I ran it for 15 min thinking it would circulate and get hotter. No dice. Showered in cold water. I'm tired and wasn't even able to have a good shower. Eh, not a fan. Maybe I'll try the place next door next time I'm in this area. View is quite nice though if you want to have a cup of coffee and stare at the lake.

Our overall experience was extremely pleasing. The location was easy to get to. All the rooms have full views of Topaz Lake. The staff was genuinely friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. We could not have asked for more.

Great rooms, Excellent views, Super price. Gambling/Food just down the road (walking distance). I've been there many times. Just about every other month for work related business (Over three years). The Patel family are great people. Highly recommended when in the area.

Room was huge! Twice the size of any other hotel. Modern furniture apart from the A/C which squeaked constantly while running. Hotel staff was great and accommodating. Awesome views over the lake too. Good place to stay.

It is a great hotel. The exterior has been painted, rooms have new Air/Heater units, carpets, furniture, TV's and now DirecTV in the rooms. The hot, fresh waffles at breakfast is my go-to. The staff is very friendly. I spend about four weeks every year here and have for several years now. The water in the sink and shower get hot fast, but the water pressure in the shower is kind of low.

This Best Western is unmatched in customer service! My girlfriend was flying late into Reno and needed to head south into California. However, her flight got delayed several times and she needed a place to stay close to the CA/NV border. We made arrangements at this Best Western and explained that she wasn t going to arrive until the early hours of the morning. They were very accommodating and stayed up late to greet her and ensure she made it safe. Thank you guys!

A decent hotel with good rooms. Breakfast was OK but the choices were limited. The lake view is spectacular. A very decent restaurant in the casino next door. We were on a road trip so we only stayed one night. Would stay again if passing this way.It is a little confusing finding the office from the highway since the GPS took us to a drive that was blocked, There is a big building in front of the hotel next to the road that looks like where you want to be. But you have to go past this about 200 feet and then down the hill a little to get to the real entrance drive.

A long day's drive getting to Topaz Lake was a gift. Beautiful surroundings, excellent accommodations and professional personnel were much appreciated. A bonus was the all-you-can-eat spaghetti being served at the adjacent restaurant. I've stayed here before and will again. A pleasant oasis.

The room was very large and clean. It had an couch and new flat screen tv. Even on the 1st floor we could see a view of Topaz lake. After a week camping in the backcountry of Death Valley the bed was comfortable and huge! We had a great conversation with the owner/operator who was very pleasant, while enjoying a waffle and egg muffin from the continental breakfast. Highly recommend to anyone passing through on the 395.

This motel is in good shape, clean, and comfortable. The staff is helpful and attentive. Double check your coffee in the room to make sure you don't wake up to decaf only. Even if you do, there is fresh coffee downstairs.
