Had a really great stay at the RV portion of this park! We stayed in the off season so were only ones there. It's walkable to everything in Baker, 5 miles from the entrance to Great Basin, and has everything we needed. Full hookups for $40 is hard to beat. Owner and folks were super kind. This is a great spot for being close to Great Basin National Park.Note: we didn't test out the bathrooms or laundry as we were self contained in our RV so nothing to report there but outside looked nice. Flies were non-existent as other reviewers mentioned, but we were also there in off season. We'll definitely come back here on trips across Nevada.

Great location, horrible flies. Like other reviewers noticed, they don't empty their trash. The trash can sat overflowing and growing for the 3 days we were there and was never emptied. This led to huge amount of flies around the campsite and a futile fight to keep them out of our trailer. Also, as others have mentioned, while they do provide power and water, the sewer hookups are not available. We tried to dump in the National Park (very close) but found that the dump station in the park was shut down for the season (mid October). We also were unimpressed by the campground layout where the trailer next door is oriented with their door facing ours. We were hoping for a bit more privacy. The host and hostess we interacted with were very friendly and the price was great (only slightly more than inside the park) and the location being so close was very convenient. However, next time we'd probably opt for the campgrounds in the park.

There must be better options!Knowing that we were going to arrive late we attempted to call many times, no answer....ever.Once we arrived there was note on door to see manager if unable to call, no directions on how to find a manager in dark. We parked in empty site and manager did find us and miraculously parked in our assigned site.We then used the facilities/restrooms/showers (only reason we stayed here)........I really should have taken pictures. The dead bug and scattered trash motif was just fabulous. The feces smears were a nice touch to the wobbly toilets and barely attached toilet seats. Thoughtful soundproofing was provided by the nice piles of toilet paper around the toilet. Unfortunately, much of the toilet paper was tracked into the shower stalls as well. Assuming this filth was accumulated throughout the day by thoughtless campers, but no.......over the three days we were there the dead bugs and trash continued to accumulate.Add this to the lovely views of the neighbors trash and dilapidated buildings, I would look for other options. It is too bad management/owners do not take more pride in this property as it could be a real gem with its location.

Great location, right outside Great Basin National Park and walking distance to 'everything' in Baker. The room was dated with worn furnishings but clean and well equipped with a coffee make, frig, microwave and good wifi. Whoever checked us in (the owner?) was one of the nicest we had our whole trip. The rate was reasonable, considering the location.

2 parties checked in for our stay. We were told the RV sites sewer was not working. There are no dedicated tent sites. The women's restroom had only 1 working shower and 1 sink that would not drain properly. The men's restroom had 1 shower that worked okay, and 1 that did not spray correctly. Both women's and men's restrooms need to be deep cleaned from cob webs and bugs.We arrived on a Friday, and by Sunday, the trash can had still not been emptied. The maintenance workers walked by the now over flowing trash can without taking the bag out. There is no office to check in. We arrived about 2 hours early and were told we could park in our reserved spots (my tent "spot" was along a fence line) untill 4:00 pm. At the appointed time, the bar opened and the maintenance person checked us in at the bar.Make sure you have groceries and any accessories you may need prior to arriving. Baker has a "General" store which sells random things. No RV accessories, no real food stuffs. The land the park sits on is nice, and with some money put back into it, it could be a very nice park. Also, there are 2 EV charging stations on site.Nearby activities: Great Basin National ParkWheeler PeakLehman Caves

We stayed in the RV area which was overgrown with weeds. The bathrooms needed a good upgrade but appeared fairly clean. Trying to check in was hard because there is no real office. Once we walked up to the bar there were instructions to call a number. The man was very friendly and helpful. This could be a nice park with a little work.

We stayed in the RV park- the sight was ok for being in a desert setting. The guy that checked us in was very rude and the rest of the park was a dump! There was trash, junk, and old vehicles all over the place, weeds and just lack of care in the park. The restrooms and showers were dirty and not cared for- trash cans overflowing, no toilet paper or paper towels. There were only two showers in both the men s and women s and only one of them worked in each. The only positive thing I would say is the great location. It is about 10 minutes from Great Basin NP. Would I stay there again- NO! Found out after the fact there were other choices in town.

Can't beat the location. It's right at the entrance to Great Basin National Park.Unlike other reviews I find the people I interacted with to be kind.As of this review 7/10/2023 laundry is $2 to wash and dry. The machines worked and there were 4 of each. Another guest told me they charge $7 to shower. I was in my RV. My first site, #9 had horrible power issues. Power kept fluctuating and could not get above 105 amps. My rig kept getting warmer. I finally asked about switching and they moved us to #5. Worked just fine. They did not fix #9 while I was there. They were not rude about it though which based on other reviews is what I was expecting. They did not mention the sewer issues to us, so we thought they were fixed, they were not. This really needs to be a higher priority. I'm guessing this is why my card was charged less than my email reservation. The accountant in me is dying at this.Apparently there used to be another campground in the town but no more because the other camping in town had the town shut them down if the sign on the road is to be believed. A little competition would be good. The sites are unlevel. The gravel is big rocks that hurt my dogs feet in places. Not all campsites have picnic tables or fire pits (burned oil barrels cut in half). Those that do have to share with their buddy site (I hate forced buddy sites). They do have 2 electric car chargers by the motel which is awesome. Based on other reviews the motel had recently been renovated. Hopefully the campground is soon. They charge less than most state parks, so you get what you pay for. They could charge more based off their location and at least fix the sewers as those have been an issue based on the Google reviews for 2 years now. If they keep this up they may not survive as it appears many people are going to Ely and driving the hour to the park.I think they are trying to pay attention to reviews as they were kind with me, but tried to tell me they didn't know of any power issues when other reviews mentioned it.

Even though there are limited options in and around Baker and Great Basin National Park I would NOT recommend staying here. The "manager on duty" had the absolute worst attitude, was rude and threatened to report our dogs to animal control if they barked because "he didn't want to deal with it". On top of that, him or one of his adult children pounded on the door of our camper in the middle of the night out of spite (the campground was pretty empty so there were very few options as to who it was).Beyond his miserable attitude and just overall rude demeanor the bathrooms had no paper towels or soap and the trash cans were overflowing with trash. To top it all off, the place is inundated with flies, we got in our truck to leave (early, because we didn't want to be around this place anymore) and after having the doors of our truck open for only 10 minutes there were about 20-30 flies in the cab of the truck. If there are no other options I recommend sleeping on the side of the road somewhere before staying here.

For the price and the fact it is literally in the middle of nowhere - this place is great. The room that I thought I booked online was not the room I got, but it didn't matter once I got there. We were tired from driving and this did the trick for the price that we paid. There is a food truck right next to the motel that serves amazing burgers and phillies which was a plus for two hungry travelers.

We stayed in one of the motel rooms while visiting Great Basin NP. The room was clean, the bed good and the shower had plenty of hot water. The carpet needs updated and the bedspreads need replaced. They seemed old and dusty. We simply removed them. The bedding and towels are crisp and clean. They supply coffee and simple bathroom products. I would highly recommend arriving before dark as it is confusing when you can t read the information signs.

Considering the town of Baker is *right* at the entrance to Great Basin NP, there's almost no tourism industry. This motel was pretty much the only option if you didn't want to drive a lot.Having spent the previous night at the historic lodge at Bryce Canyon NP, I can say this was in almost every way superior Specifically, Whispering Elms has AC and Internet and was over $100 less than the room at Bryce!!That being said, this isn't a resort. It's a motel in a town that doesn't even have a full gas station. So the fact that it had clean sheets and a door that locked and I didn't get any bad feelings was quite sufficient! If I ever work up the nerve to hike to the Bristlecone Pine Grove at the top of the mountain, I'd have no hesitation about staying here again!Rooms: It's not a luxury resort. If you go looking for dirt, you'll find it. A clean bathroom and sheets are all I cared about.Safety: As a solo traveler, I had no bad feelings about this location or the owners/managers I interacted with.Food & drinks: There's a microwave and fridge but there's not a lot of food options (including stores) so bring your own food or roll the dice with what may be open.

This review is about the RV Park, not the hotel.Website says full hookups and fire pits. There was 1 fire pit for every 10 spots maybe. Host said he'd try to bring us one but never did. The sewer line has been plugged for years apparently, so most of the sites actually don't have a sewer hookup. It was close to the park at least, so that's nice.Oh the bathrooms were also quite dirty and one of the toilets was out of paper for a day.

Easy check-in with Jen. We only stayed 2 nights but the staff was helpful and the campsite was clean. They are going through some renovations but it did not affect our back-in site. Showers were clean and HOT! Site was walking distance to a couple restaurants and a coffee shop. We will stay here again the next time we head to Great Basin!

I stayed at the RV Park. It was a gravel pit! Bathrooms dirty, water on floor and no toliet paper. Super close to neighbors. Only couple of fire pits and picnic tables. Wifi was horrible. Staff were rude and unfriendly. No office help. They knocked on my door at 7pm for payment. Dog unfriendly place! Warning do not stay here! Bad aura! Location is good to Great Basin National Park.

Thank you to Fran and the other employees who made our stay very enjoyable! We checked in pretty late due to stopping to assist a flipped over semi on our way into town. Fran was very nice and understanding about our late check in. The rooms are older and as pictured online. The rooms were clean and well stocked with what you would need and expect from a motel. I could not hear anyone in the rooms next to us which was nice. The AC units in the room worked great which is a plus with the warm outside temps. The burger place onsite is incredible and so convenient with the bar on site next door. The bar has well priced drinks and a pool table inside to enjoy. We really enjoyed our stay and were happy with the food and drinks right there on the property! We would absolutely stay here again. Fran was very kind and accommodating! Thanks Fran and staff!

There aren t many options for an RV park near the Great Basin National park. I would have preferred to camp in the park, but with a family of four, the fresh water goes fast and the holding tanks fill up faster. So I booked four nights at the Whispering Elm. The website made booking easy, and the campground looked decent. However, once there it was obvious those photos weren t recent. The staff was less than welcoming upon arrival, and even less friendly when asked for the WiFi password. With little to no cell service at times near the park, reliable Wi-Fi would have been useful. But the Whispering Elms Wi-Fi was as useless as the 3G wireless in Baker. About half the sites have inoperable sewer hookups. Upon arriving I was told they were collapsed. So this still forced me to wheel a tote tank across the park to dump gray water. Instead of attempting to back into a another site upon leaving in order to dump the black water, I chose to pay $5 and use the dump station at the nearby gas station. I wouldn t recommend the Whispering Elms, but as there many aren t options in Baker, what are you going to do? Thankfully we were there with the intent to spend our time there hiking and sightseeing in the National Park. The Whispering Elms was simply a place to park.

Older motel outside the road into Great Basin National Park. Staff were friendly and helpful. Check in/out was easy. Fair price. Pet friendly with comfortable rooms. We liked the quiet, quaint atmosphere. Baker is a very small town and does not have many stores or restaurants so be prepared for that. We got our dinner at the Border Inn about 8 miles away. The one restaurant was closed M-W. Not a big deal but for information to those coming here. Definitely would stay here again.

Stayed in the newly remodeled motel rooms, from the out side does not look great but once in the room it was very nice. The couple that runs it is very helpful and made great recommendations on places to eat etc.One of few places close to Leman's caves.Wifi worked ok, which helped because cell service is weak.

Wonderful, quiet hotel in Baker, NV. Furnishings are a bit dated, but maintained very well and CLEAN!!! Many thanks for a great stay! Easy check in/out.PS: Be sure to call ahead about food - you may need to drive down the road (~8 mi) to Border Inn and Casino during off season.

It was freezing inside. No one warmed room for us, even though I provided our arrival time.Outside it was around 26f and inside not much better. There was only a tiny space heater, which was turned off when we arrived. There was no chance to warm the place with that thing. It was the size of two cellphones (I have picture!) We asked for assistance and extra heaters, but no one ever replied. After 8 hours of driving we ended up in cold room, we could sleep in the car and it would be the same temperature and comfort. It was $130 for the night, so we should get warm room ready for us. The small heater is a joke, like they don't care about their guests at all. Of course we had to sleep in our clothes, fortunately we had extra blankets with us. We spent $130 to get shower and have warm night during our trip, but I couldn't even wash my hair, because it would result in getting sick in that temperature.I would highly advise you to stay away from this place, because they don't care about health and comfort of their guests.

Location, location, location! That is the best feature of this park. It is close to Great Basin National Park. We had a full hook-up, pull-through rv site - but we were facing our neighbor and were VERY close. Our site was quite unlevel side to side - took some work to get level, but we managed. Hook-ups all worked fine. Staff was friendly. Park was quiet. Laundry room was spacious with a number of washers and dryers - all in working order. They also had an outside clothes line which could be used. When full, this park is jam packed and could make maneuverability a challenge. We appreciated the "take-one / leave-one" library.

Loved the location right outside Great Basin National Park and the laundry room was excellent. However, the sites are right up against each other, it appears they don't clean the bathrooms because toilet paper has been empty for the last 3 days, other amenities are run down and the campground has a lot of junk sitting around it. They had lost our reservation and we were going to have to leave the day before Memorial Day since they said they couldn't accommodate us for all our nights we had reserved. We had asked if we could just boondocks somewhere on the property and they agreed. We ended up with a site for the last night but that was because we went to them and asked if there had been any cancelations and there was.

This was a very good value. Great, quiet oasis in this blustery terrain. It's an older motel (which I prefer) so doesn't have the most current decor, but I really enjoyed my stay here. My room was big, with plenty of room to do yoga, and organize gear. It's well-equipped with a fridge, microwave, coffee pot, extra heater, TV, AC, and great lighting, including overhead lights and multiple task and reading lights. The tap water is DELICIOUS! Please don't waste your $ on bottled water. Just run the tap for a few seconds to clear the air from the line I filled my bottles for the road with the tap water. Unfortunately, the bar was closed during my stay; I had hoped to have a beer and meet some of the people here to learn about the area.

The good: In a parched land under blazing sun, the wonderful trees in this park are so very much appreciated for the shade they bring. The place is priced for what it is--a no frills RV park. The not-so-good: Many of the sewer connections are broken. They give you a discount for this inconvenience, but they hadn't been fixed between the reservation in May and the time we got there in September. The RV spaces are in that weird configuration where the doors face each other--effectively making you share the space between you as well as the single table, if there is one. There's supposed to be wifi, but we weren't told about it, nor was it apparent which one it was.Bottom line: It may be perfect for some (and is about the only option outside Great Basin National Park), but not for others.
