The staff was excellent, they met our needs with a smile.I went in knowing this was a 2 star resort, and I am reviewing it based on that in mind.It is similar to visiting your 90 year old Grandma's Lake cabin old but maintained. It is clean, inside it has a fresh coat of paint and the rooms were large. The cabinetry, beds, and tub/shower were well used but functional and clean. We rented room 11. It had a basic set of pans, dishes, and dinnerware. There was a drip coffee maker, toaster, fridge with freezer, and microwave. There was a trash can, and we were provided extra bags, dishwashing soap, sponge, and kitchen towel. The bathroom had bar soaps, towels, and wash cloths. When we left out wet towels out on the floor of the bathroom while we were out during the day, they were refreshed, so we were never without clean towels. There were 2 air-conditioning wall units, and they worked well and kept our room cool.We had a small issue with a wiggly table, and it was addressed right away.It was wonderful to be within walking distance of the beach. We brought our food so we didn't visit the restaurant but because we were there Sunday-Wed it was quiet and peaceful. We did visit the general store, and the staff was wonderful, and the items were fairly priced. Our family will return, but probably bring our own pillows.

We had a fantastic adventure to Lake McConaughy and the Big Mac Marina store recommended this place. We loved it. It s right by the water. Has a great deck. Food was awesome. Kids loved it too.But the best part is the service. I didn t catch her name but the person who works at the store was very helpful and kind. And Colin (sp?) is a gem. He is loyal to the restaurants at the lake and NM. He just made our evening with his care and conversation. Owners are very lucky to have him. Thanks again. I hope to come back someday.

Ignore the "we just took over". Heed the warnings and go elsewhere. The appeal? The lake? The live band? Im not sure why people stay here other than it's the only option. I stayed in my rv, my family in the rooms. They advertise "full hookups" you pay for them. It is water and electric (partial hookups). Spaces are not clearly marked other than a number on the electric box, which are too close together. We were told not to worry the middle space is usually small vehicle/tent only. Low and behold, Friday we come back from the water to see someone pulling in front of us in a 30ft trailer. There is no parking, people drive wherever. The rooms are old and overpriced. I wouldn't stay here again if they paid me.Rooms: Old, outdated, poor water pressure, smallSafety: Cars are everywhere, people get drunk and just drive all over.Noteworthy details: Avoid it. Eat and drink, and leave.

We love this place as a stop for a good swim, internet to get some work done and if you can make it for their live music it s really fun! The staff are all really great.

Had such a great time at this place! The service was amazing, the food was amazing, our waitress was super amiable and friendly. We ordered jalapeno poppers for appetizer which were super fancy. The fish and chips is largely portioned for a great price. I ordered the ahi tuna appetizer as my entree and I was not disappointed! The chef even came out to talk to us and make sure that everything was perfect! Definitely will be back!

The resort was nothing like the pictures show! My husband and I live in Ogallala but my mom and dad were here visiting from Florida. They stayed 5 nights. The 1st morning my mom woke up with a bug bite on her forehead. By the time they left she had 3 more bites around her right eye. Her eye was so swollen she ended up having to go to the urgent care and was put on antibiotics and steroids. The stairs leading up to rooms 1-4 were uneven and a couple of wood posts were lifted from the stairs making a tripping hazard, especially at night. When she contacted the resort to inform them the guy was very rude to her. And now the resort has blocked her from being able to write a review on their website. I would not suggest staying here! Plus the food In The restaurant was mediocre at best. Do not recommend staying here.

Right on the beach! I wanted a place that was right on the beach so we could walk out with the kids and spend the day there. If that's what you are looking for, this is great place! The restaurant is sub-par in terms of good food though. No breakfast was served on the weekends but they offered brunch. The brunch started at 10am which delayed our day waiting for them to open. Eggs were super dry and the sausage was "pre-fab" meaning it was the kind you don't really have to cook. The bacon I couldn't eat. Hubby got biscuits and gravy. SOS is better but it was convenient. Because of the poor breakfast experience, we didn't eat dinner there so I can't really review the other food. The room was okay. The dishes were dirty in the cabinets so that was a disappointment. Did have a mixing bowl so I had to use a small bowl to mix up our pancake mix. No whisk. Yes, I expected basic kitchen items. The pans are old Teflon pans and were rusted in some parts. It is required to wash the dishes prior to departure and we had a sponge and soap to do so but only one cloth for drying/wiping. With the office closed on Sunday morning, this was a surprise and we did the best we could. The cabins are old and need some work but it was relatively clean. The worst part of the stay was we couldn't sleep because the cabin attached had people in it that let their toddler scream. I suspect they put their toddler in the room and closed the door. They never tended to the child to shush them so as not to disturb other patrons. Either that, or they were abusing the child because the kid would just scream for 30+ minutes several times throughout the night and early morning. Don't expect to sleep late. The curtains on the windows are basically see-through so the early sun shines through. After a long night with a screaming baby, this was an insult to injury. There was no water pressure in the bathroom sink. It dribbled out. The toilet ran most of the time. The shower handles are so old it was difficult to adjust the temperature. The people were nice and welcoming so I give it 3 stars. It wasn't an awful stay and no, I don't need 5-star but the pictures online don't adequately share what you get. I am thankful they had working A/C since the temp was over 100 degrees although on the lake like this, it never felt that hot. I am shocked this is a wedding venue but to each their own. I do appreciate the roof over our head and that they could accommodate our large family in one cabin. The fact that they were on the beach made it worth it.

Went here for dinner while on a family reunion with 12 people. Called ahead and had the red carpet waiting when we rolled in. The wait staff was very attentive and on top of all of our needs. The fish and chips basket was the winner of the night, with 8 of us all dining on that. Good job people! You did well!!

I would have given more stars if I could. Mike is an absolute angel! The place we booked a reservation 5 months ago didn't hold it. Mike answered the phone with such a warm welcoming tone. When we arrived we were warmly greeted in the bar and they even made a strawberry milkshake for our daughter. The room was comfortable and Mike personally delivered a sleeping bag and extra blankets for our daughter to sleep on since the last room left only had a queen bed. The bed was comfortable and we all slept well. The brunch was fresh and delicious. We would love to come back to this charming resort in the future. They are such a warm welcoming group!!! Mike and staff, thank you for being our angels at the end of a long day of travel!!!

Love the outside deck and live music on Saturdays in the summer. Pretty good food, although the use of processed cheese food slices instead of better quality cheese on burgers and sandwiches is a bit of a disappointment, considering the menu options and pricing.

Quirky joint right next to the water with eclectic, live music nearly every weekend during the summer. They have a nominal cover charge for the music, the drinks are fairly priced, and the atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly. I go regularly and look forward to it each time!

First, I d like to start on a positive note The location is great, and it is extremely convenient to have a bar/restaurant and general store within walking distance. When we saw staff and had interactions with them, they were extremely friendly and helpful. The food is ok, quick service, but limited menu, and nothing to write home about.Onto the nitty gritty For the price per night, per family cabin all quality was lacking. I get that it s not some fancy resort, and that we are paying to stay in older cabins, however, I sure hope someone takes notes and makes the much needed upgrades for future customers. I d like to list some suggestions for the owners and management staff. These are things our family would of enjoyed as accessibility s;1. A table cloth for the picnic table out front and possible a large tub to fill with water to rinse feet before entering the property, or even a hose to spray sandy items.2. It would have been helpful to have a small vacuum, a good broom and dust pain, and possibly a small wet swifter for the floors.3. More than one extra trash bag, especially when cooking and prepping food.4. Furniture that is a little more updated, and possibly a coffee table or something to put drinks on when lounging inside, or watching tv.5. Black out curtains would be a nice touch, but what would be nice would be properly installed and working curtain rods.6. Wooden chairs that don t fall apart when you move them.7. Pots with handles, frying pans, more than a few cups, a few plates and a few pieces of silverware. Paper towels would be appreciated or more than one dish towel. Pot holders for the handleless pans would have been appreciated. Also, just a thought plastic bags, or Tupperware to pack food items for the beach.8. There was plenty of sleeping space for our family of five, but beds that didn t fold you and your husband into a burrito every time you slept would be nice.9. Fly paper rolls or some sort of insect catcher. My son did make friends with several of the flys that lived in his room, however I wasn t a fan of thinking I may or may not have eastern one or two of those bad boys while I slept. Fly shatters would be appreciated as well!10. Clear instructions on the services that would be provided such as trash removal and towel replenishment.11. Towels that would fit someone larger than that of a four or five year old.12. Shade triangles or an umbrella would have been appreciated over the picnic table so we could sit out front and enjoy the views and music. (I get that you are wanting patrons to visit the bar, but just a thought, fix it up a bit and charge more for the cabins). People with small children don t want to hang out at the bar, they want the kids to be happily playing inside after a long day at the lake, while we adults enjoy a few cocktails and snacks under some shade out front of their cabin, while taking in the lake views, and listening to music.13. Another thought posting clear parking signs for patrons. Our kids were playing and we were concerned with patrons not watching or knowing where to park. On a happier note, the kiddos really enjoyed catching the lizards and toads on the property.14. Possible upgrade to real air fresheners like air wick, or plug ins, rather than hanging car fresheners, or better yet, provide a bottle of febreeze. Anyways, overall we made the best of it, and I hope you take into consideration some of these suggested upgrades. We really enjoyed the friendly staff and location! We would love to give it another try before recommending this property to anyone else.

Absolutely the best place on the lake! Great employees, friendly and prompt service. Scrumptious food and beverages. Perfect atmosphere. Entertaining local bands. Try the burgers, fries and shrimp! Large portions. Highly recommend. Kids enjoy it also!

This is strictly a review of the campground. People working there are great. But I wouldn't recommend the campground due to the trains all hours during the night. Live band sounded good just not when i had little sleep night before. Three day weeeknd and we left early just couldn't do another night.

They have bed bugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We stayed over the 4th of July and this place is disgusting. We found bed bugs in our bed after my niece was bit on the face and then found them after her getting bit. The actual room was filthy, smelled like it had never been cleaned. There was something rotting and dead in the kitchen, we could never find where the smell was coming from. You didn't want to walk on the carpet without your shoes on it was so gross. The location is great for the lake, but that is the only benefit to this crap hole. The bar is next door, which is great if you don't plan on sleeping, as the band will play till two in the morning and sounds like they are in your living room. Please do not stay here.

My family and friends stayed here. There were 8 of us all together. some of us stayed in the rooms with a kitchenette, others stayed in the simpler rooms with 2 beds. This place was a nightmare!!! Between the fact that when we ran out of toilet paper they said they would bring some to our room....OK! The outside of the kitchenettes were full of weeds with stickers, the couch was from the 70's and you couldn't sit on it.There were dead bugs in the window seals and the windows were so filthy that you couldn't see out of them. The best part was that the floor between the living room and kitchen had a hole in it...the only thing between the floor and the hole was the carpet. The sinks and shower didn't drain well so that is a whole different story! There was an old man who rode around on a golf cart, cigarette hanging out of his mouth and appeared to be intoxicated....along with his dog (We all like the dog). The owner had the personality of a unhappy person.Do yourself a favor and stay else where. We now have a family joke.....we refer this as our family trip to THE BATES MOTEL!!
