While traveling from Florida to South Dakota, we camped at the nearby RU Lost Campground and I cut my finger unhooking the travel trailer from the truck. We drove to Nemaha County Hospital and were in and out in about an hour. Jenna and Josh took great care of me and the facility was very nice. While I don't recommend cutting your finger so badly that it requires 6 stitches, I do recommend the Nemaha ER.

This was the worst experience we have ever had. My fiance and I received a call from our PCP she indicated that my fiance needed to be seen in the ER either at St. Mary's Hospital or Nemaha County Hospital, beings that we live here in Auburn we chose to take him up to the ER at Nemaha County Hospital our PCP even called ahead to inform them of the situation and exactly what was needed for his treatment, we arrived at the ER at about 5pm. After a good long wait Dr. Alan Smyth came in to speak with us he proceeded to question us about why we we had chosen to come to the ER at Nemaha County, and why he didn't seek further treatment from our PCP instead. We explained to him the fact that we lived here in Auburn, which apparently for Dr. Smyth was not a good enough reason, he simply proceeded to lecture us about too many people trying to treat the same situation or as he stated "Too many hands in the pot". This only made us feel even more uncomfortable about being there. Dr. Smyth made us feel like we were not welcome, and that we regardless of whether we lived here in Auburn or not should have gone elsewhere, he also suggested that my fiance had supposedly been seen there several times before for the same reason. This was a complete lie considering the last time my fiance had been seen at Nemaha County Hospital he had just been diagnosed and was being admitted to the hospital. I know one thing for sure after this experience and it's that neither myself or my fiance will ever be seen for any reason in the future at Nemaha County Hospital. Dr. Smyth needs a lesson in empathy and needs to remember the very oath taken by everyone in the medical field. I don't appreciate the way my fiance and I were treated ,and we will definitely not recommend Nemaha County Hospital to anyone. If anything all this experience did was cause more stress on us both.

I have had mixed feelings about this town, hospital includes. What I have noticed is improvement in both. This review is meant mostly for physical therapy section of the hospital. I am ecstatic to say they are great. I'm not always easy to deal with so this isn't as much as a dig when I say I do still get a sense of the staff being "stuck up" like I feel about a lot of the people in this town. When it comes to what really matters is the hope I left with that was abcent when I walked in. Always a room for improvement, but Nemaha county hospital is is not a bad hospital at all.Their job is held to highest of standards as our lives could count on them.. One Naysay is transportation to bigger Trauma centers are wack. So instead of beating our hospital down, If you can work with city council getting us some more qualified medical Personnel and transport vehicles to get us to a larger facility faster when needed that would be great.

All I can say is you would be lucky to get sick and come to this hospital. Dr. Andrew is the most kind Dr. You will ever meet. The rest of the staff is no less.Thank you
