Edit as of 03-25-2024. I ended up having to have a complete transmission replacement and the tech that took care of me at the Transmission shop said if it had been caught sooner ( like when I took it in to have the flush done) it could have fixed instead of needing a replacement. Just shows they are in it for the money and not the customer care. I have also yet to receive a refund or the part I ordered from Action Auto Body.It has taken me a long time to decide to write this review in hopes that the issues would be resolved. On December 23 2022 I took my car in for an oil change and a transmission flush. After receiving my car back everything worked great until a week and a half later I noticed a leak underneath my car coming from the transmission. I immediately called the shop and explained that I noticed the leak and a man named John told me to bring it in the next day and they would look at it right away. The next day it was brought in and they didn't look at it until almost 5 which is fine they were busy I am sure. The problem came after they looked at the car. They saw the leak and took some pictures. The owner then proceeded to talk to my husband and said that I had a new scrape under my transmission and asked him if I had hit anything recently. Which I had not. I decided to call the shop myself and ask if I could see the pictures for myself. The same man I spoke to the man John again and asked if I could see the pictures of the scrape. John informed me after speaking to the tech directly that there was indeed no scrape under my car and it was a freeze plug and they needed to take my car to a transmission specialist a different day. After getting my car back and having another mechanic take a look at it over the weekend the leak was gone entirely. The mechanic asked if I had my skid plate and bolts to hold onto the skid plate. Spartans had forgotten to put them back on. My husband went to pick them up the next Monday and they only gave him the skid plate and not the bolts. Writing this review so others know what could happen to them.Shoutout to John for treating me with respect and being an outstanding customer service employee!While I am writing this review I should also mention I ordered some parts from Action Auto Body the owners of Spartans other business. The parts were ordered on August 22 of 2022 and the wrong parts came in, they sent them back to get the correct parts. I have yet to receive the correct parts or a refund.I really hope this is not everyone's experience here and that it was just a one-off.Service: Oil change

The ladies & gentleman at Spartans Tuning are the best in town! I had a very unique situation to deal with and their patience and expertise to guide me through it is unmatched. I will continue to visit this shop for all of my future automotive needs!

I have a 2016 Ford 150. Had and engine light on and took in to get diagnosed. Diagnostic codes were many, and unusual. With prior approval they set about isolating the problem. They were able to determine a short in the system. They eventually found a problem with the cables harness where it had rubbed through. Not an easy fix. With approval they had to replace the whole cable harness. It was expensive repair and took time, but it was still much better than having to buy a new truck. Since the repair has been done, so far I have been trouble free.Service: Electrical repair

My fiance scheduled an appointment at Spartans Tuning to inspect her brakes because we noticed the brakes weren't working properly. Spartans Tuning charged $150 just to inspect the brakes. They did not tell us what needed to be done and the reciept only had a random picture without any explanation of what they found. We were given 3 quotes for things we might need but they could not say for sure if we needed it or not which totaled almost $3,000. I do not think they even inspected the brakes and I believe they were trying to take advantage of my fiance. Also if you go here watch out for the credit card fee. One of our quotes showed a nearly $60 credit card fee and we paid with a debit card. Anyways I reccomend Pomps Tires. They checked our brakes for free and quoted us a third of the price. Pomps was professional and told us exactly what needed to be done. Spartans tuning should refund us as I do not think they actually did anything.

When I first brought my car to them it took over a month to fix it, I was given a 2400,00 mile warranty, I only drove it 2000 miles and it broke down again . I had it towed back to them to fix and they never called me once in the 3 weeks that they had it.I called today and told them that they should have made it a priority since it was under warranty , the man that answered told me I can come and take the car because I said that I may have to retain a lawyer then he hung up on me. I called triple AAA since they carry their logo. I would not recommend this place to anybody. HORRIBLE SERVICE. they don't stand by their work or warranty.I spent almost $4000. with them!!!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Engine repair, Wheel alignment, Oil change

I absolutely love these guys,I had trouble after they had closed. I called them about 10 mins after 5. They had my jeep allday doing the 130 point inspection. I couldn't get the air filter container open. Very disappointing experience. We took our recently purchased vehicle there to have an estimate done on the issues we were having, to have a tire monitor fixed, and for the vehicle to be inspected. They did not fix the tire monitor, did not provide an estimate for repairs (said they were unable to identify the issues we told them about), and did not inspect the vehicle (lug nuts were still missing when we picked it up). They had our car for two weeks. Then we were left with a bill of $200 for literally nothing done that we asked. The bill was extremely vague and did not provide a break out of the time/work we were being charged for. After letting them know we were very unhappy, they at least didn t charge us the $200 - so I am glad they made it right in that way. However, I will still be taking our vehicles elsewhere going forward because of the less than satisfactory service we received here.Service: Vehicle Inspection

We have a 1985 Chevy Class C RV that no one in town would work on...until we found Spartans Tuning! The crew at Spartans were professional, courteous, and did a fantastic job diagnosing and fixing the tricky electrical issue. We will definitely use them again and would highly recommend them to anyone. They are scammers!!!!! I brought a keyless BMW to them to make a key for. After making the key they decided to take parts of the electrical system apart to try and diagnose the issue (without permission) that wasn t so much of a problem for me, but after they told me it had an electrical issue, they left multiple fuses laying on the floor of my car, when I went to pick it up. After they already took it apart without permission they called to tell me that they wanted $400 to diagnose it. I came to pick it up after deciding to do some research myself to figure the electrical issue out. After failing to figure out the electrical issue I took it to another mechanic. Only to find out the only problem was it had bad gas. Before assuming it was an electrical issue they should have looked into other options instead of trying to over charge me for something that didn t need to be done. They also told me that the only BMW specialist in Montana was at their shop.Services: Electrical, Car key copying

In June of 2020 I took my Subaru Forester in for repairs to address excessive oil consumption. They confirmed that it was the known short block issue and gave me options for the repairs. Decided to replace the engine. I had nothing but problems with the rebuilt engine for almost 2 years. Every step of the way, the guys at Spartan's were very helpful. They worked with the company that supplied the engine, kept on them for repairs, kept me informed on progress every time my car had to go in, provided a loaner car, were very understanding about my frustrations and listened to me when I said things still weren't running right. They are, hands down, the best mechanics I could have asked for.Service: Engine repair

I was referred to Spartan by a friend last year and have taken 4 vehicles there for various repairs such as headlight refresh, headlight replacement, electrical diagnostic and repair in a 20 year old SUV, key fob reprogramming, and replacement of a lock on a Volkswagen. They are always courteous, professional and honest and complete the work in a timely manner. They will go out of their way to find needed parts and have always kept me updated on the status of an order and the progress on any vehicles I have dropped off. I have always been able to get a shuttle ride to and from my home which is very convenient. I would recommend Spartan for all of your repair needs.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Battery

The most reliable and trust worthy shop there is in Missoula. I have had the worst car luck and with having a car not many people want to work on, Spartans took the job with no hesitation. Not only are they attentive, but they are respectful and never think twice about making sure everything is done well. The staff is friendly and explain things in a way in which you can understand. The only place I trust taking my car too. Highly recommend!

We have been traveling in our 1998 bus for a few weeks and one morning it just wouldn t start and we are completely across the country from home and it wasn t the battery and we were PANICKING.We called probably 10 shops before getting the best referral in the world, Spartan Tuning!They were also slammed, (I guess it s a busy season in MiSsoula!) but they got us in right away and out our minds at ease.Even though it ended up being a huge fix (the air compressor had completely seized and had burnt the starter solenoid) they were able to get the parts in and replaced and we were on the road Monday evening! They were super communicative the whole time and were so kind and patient with our questions (not really car people) and talked us through the whole process.I wish I lived in Missoula so this could be my regular shop.Nathan at the front is a total gem.11/10 would recommend!!!Service: Auto A/C replacement

We had a great experience at Spartans Tuning. The staff is very friendly, did a great job on fixing our car. We had a few things wrong with our vehicle, which they found the issues right away. The kept in contact with us the whole time, were great on explaining the issues they found and what needed to be replaced and why. They listend to my concerns and were determined to resolve the issues. Will definitely be going back to Spartans with our auto care needs.

Was having some issues with my air conditioner, and Spartan's being one of the only ones in town that services Volvos, I took it to them to investigate and was not disappointed! They remedied the situation without breaking the bank and offered options to improve my AC even more. Very personable and friendly staff. I'm sure I will be back in the near future. I highly recommend Spartan! I called in the morning to see about getting my truck in and thankfully they were able to get it in the same day, diagnose, repair and back to me. They called to let me know exactly what the issue was so there was no suprises. They did a follow up contact on my truck. I was on a trip from Georgia to Idaho and my truck had battery trouble in Missoula MT - AAA recommended Spartan and I called and Milt got me right in without an appointment. Milt and his team were so nice, they replaced my battery and got me back on the road in no time. Milt even contacted me a few days later to ensure I was satisfied with their service - they are an A+ organization and I highly recommend them for your car repair needs.Service: Battery

We had a computer issue with our car, and Spartans was the one repair shop that was able to fix the issue without the hassle of going to a dealership! They also reprogrammed our key on top of it all! Best experience with a mechanic ever. We ve serviced a few vehicles here and have always been satisfied. The owner is awesome. Shop staff and mechanics are friendly. The place is spotless and looks like restaurant and not a repair shop. The waiting area is clean and you can tell they take pride in their business and their service. We re never up sold unnecessary repairs or parts. They always try to get quality factory replacement parts and not cheap knock offs. 5 stars. 2 thumbs up. 10 out of 10. You won t be disappointed.

I highly recommend Spartans tuning to anyone in search of vehicle repair. I have an 05 Land Rover that sat for several years In the AZ desert and needed extensive suspension repair. They were able to diagnose and repair all issues when other shops wouldn t touch the vehicle. Thank you, Spartans, for working directly with the warranty company covering two different repairs of my Ford wagon. The staff handled the communication and approval of the work, keeping me posted on the status. The service and quality were excellent, even delivered the car to my home when finished.

I dropped my car, a BMW, off at Spartans in January for a warranty transmission replacement. That proved to be the easy part of this story. Through dealing with the incredibly slow and lack of communication from the warranty company to searching the entire country over for a transmission, Spartans went above and beyond what I expected from a repair shop. They kept me updated along every step of the way and worked tirelessly to help me resolve the issue. I recently got the car back, in May, and even with a 5 month mess of paperwork and searching for the right part I was always kept informed and treated with the upmost respect. The car was given back to me in perfect condition and with a smile. I recommend these guys for any and all issues because they will go every extra mile that they have to to treat you right and to get the job done. We will never take our car to another shop. Great Service and they do what they promise and more, the truck runs like brand new!I have a 2001 Toyota Tacoma PU, they replaced the clutch pressure plate and flywheel, they tuned it up, replaced an O2 sensor that had been out since I bought the truck and it has been serviced many times by V-Tech and they never bothered to fix it or ask me about fixing it, and I have had the axle bearings and rear axle repaired and replaced on the passenger side several times again by V-Tech and it kept blowing out, Josh suggested that even though it would be more expensive just put in a factory new one, and when they got done they took the time to align and tweak it so that it was correctly replaced.The truck runs like brand new! And the cost was very reasonable for all they did.I will be using them for all my work on the Tacoma and I would highly recommend them to work on any vehicle you have.Thank you for your time and effort on my vehicle!

Great experience. The new FOB works better than the original one. After multiple attempts around town with no luck, Milt was able to program a new FOB to work with my car. If you need a new FOB or help with an old one I would recommend Spartans Tuning. Customer service was great and the price was also a plus! Thank you
