I bought this cooler over 6 years ago. I had no complaints. Someone socked my oil filter on way way too tight and when I used force, to take it off, I think i loosened the middle nut that held the device to the main mount. It Leaked like crazy but I got it home. The thing is it was great for years. When I ran into trouble I called Bud, expecting a voice mail or something as it was Sunday, and yet he answered. He gave me advice and I was able to fairly quickly fix it.I have no complaints with the product and I think 6+ years later to get direct help was a testimony to great customer service and pride of ownership for a sweet family business, for a self designed product. Does it really "cool" the bike? I think its way way better than the OEM and I never complained of the cost. The installation by the designer was great.Would I buy it again? I think yes.

While Bud is a nice guy I regret buying this oil cooler from him. I did speak to him on the phone before I purchased to verify fitment. I have a 2008 Dyna CVO.1. He sent me the kit missing a part. Yes he sent me the missing part for free. Took a week.2. Found out I could not screw on my oil filter on, I could not rotate the oil filter adapter enough-it was hitting my 02 sensor. Ended up buying a washable filter from him at a discount-still another 100 bucks. Took a week.3. Get everything hooked up-one hose was leaking- yes he sent me another hose at no charge. Took a week.4. Had to trim my lower spoiler-stock on a Dyna CVO to run the oil line. He never told me I would have to do that- even though I spoke to him and confirmed my bike with him. Not a big deal but I should have been informed of that -maybe I did not want to modify it.5. Stainless steal braided lines rubbed and cut into my voltage regulator lines causing a short and damaging the oil line. Yes technically this was my fault- poor install directions did not help any.6. I decided to check all of the other lines, one on the bottom that runs along the main electrical harness of the bike would have eventually cut into the main harness- no other way to run this hose. While the oil cooler itself looks well made-for a Dyna model he should have provided either non stainless steal lines or stainless steal lines that are covered in a way as to provide abrasion protection. Now I have to buy 3 new lines that will not chafe/rub on any of the wiring. There is no way to avoid this on a Dyna model when connecting the two cooler bodies together- the line on the bottom.I really am over this.Bud- please update your install directions, and provide insulated hoses for the dyna models.

Last year on July 3rd during a ride with my partner, from Vancouver Wa. Down to Grand Titons National Park, through Yellowstone National Park up and through Glacier National Park, and back over to Vancouver about 10-15 miles out side of the town Yellowstone I was face to face with an on coming car. Forced to put my bike down I managed to survive the accident but my bike was really screwed up not rideable to say the least. I needed to get back on the road as soon as possible I had AAA and had a 200 mile free tow . The closet I could get to the nearest Harley shop in Great Falls, MT was Helena, MT. When I google Harley Davidson in Montana Oil Bud came up. I thought at the time it was a Motorcyle shop. When I called I spoke with the owner and told him my story. He couldn t have been nicer to a stranger. Although he is not really in the business of motorcycle repair he said that he would let me have my bike towed to his shop and was willing to order the parts I needed and put my bike back together sight in seen and with out ever meeting me personally. For me this was absolutely a relief. I was still in shock from the most terrifying event of my life. He treated me as if I was an old friend. But I get the feeling that he treats everyone like that. I don t know if he is a Christian but his kindness was more Christian than most People I have met that claim to be Christian. I want anyone who is in the market for an oil cooler to know, that anyone who would treat a stranger the way this guy treated me must have a quality product and customer service that is unbeatable by any other. I came to learn that he designed this oil cooler and although I don t remember the detail I understand that he has a patent pending and apparently has a revolutionary system. I remember that I had intended to write this review as soon as I was settled back home. But you know how it is one thing leads to another and before you know it a year has past. I am not a person that writes reviews or talks about service as extrodany when it is what should be expected from a product or a service. So you should know that it takes an extrodenary experince for me to take the time to write this. Ultimately, the amount of time it would have taken for us to order the parts and get them put on my bike was much to long for me to wait. So I had my son who lives in Great Falls give me a ride down to get the bike and bring it up to Big Sky Harley in Great Falls. Oil Bud did not charge me a dime for any of his time and inconvenience, storage, or any other cost I would have gladly paid just to have an address to have the bike towed to. I was not able to shake his hand because he orchestrated everything he did for me through his partner. But my conversation with him and his guenuine concern for me, my bike and getting me back on the road I will never forget. Next time I am in Helena I will make a point to look him up and get that hand shake. If there were more people like him in the business world I believe that quality and service would return to American made products and business. Thanks again Oil Bud. I intend on ordering my oil cooler today!Forever grateful
