Can't believe I didn't do this sooner.... I purchased a vehicle from elk mountain almost a year ago and I'm still blown away at the experience. Very polite and respectful answering all my pestering questions. I even sent my Step-dad to them to buy a vehicle. When it's time for another one, I know where I'm going. Thanks!

My husband bought a truck from these liars about a month ago. He was told they went through it, and did a lot of work to it, and it runs great...well, less than 2 weeks after buying it, the transmission went out. Not only that, but my husband had the oil changed, and was told by the person who did it, that the oil was almost burnt. There was barely any transmission fluid in it, and other issues. We took care of all that, then the transmission goes out. Either they ate hugeliars, or they have a mechanic that doesn'tknowwhat he'sdoing.,

I had the displeasure of dealing with a local dealership who shall remain nameless when it came to buying two different vehicles last year. When it came to saying goodbye to the car I brought from the other dealership in September 2022 and using the car for a trade-in, I went to Elk Mountain Motors in July. I was picky about what I wanted (no CVT transmission, no turbo engine needing premium gasoline, no key fob, automatic transmission, no fancy heating/cooling system, etc. etc.) Todd was great when it came to finding a vehicle I absolutely love and enjoy driving. He had no problem with me wanting to take the car I ended up purchasing to J4 Automotive for a vehicle inspection before the purchase was completed. He even took the car on a second test drive on the interstate heading north to Great Falls to see how the car would handle interstate driving while we were in a thunderstorm with heavy rain and wind. Todd gave me a fair trade-in value for the one car, and my new car was completely paid off. I love my new 2015 Toyota Yaris. Elk Mountain was a major improvement over the other dealership I went to last year. I highly suggest Elk Mountain Motors when it comes to purchasing a good used vehicle because it was an easy less stressful and honest process.

In January of this year (2023), i was told to bring my 2014 Subaru Outback to Elk Mountain motors for them to sell it for me on consignment for the amount of $9,500. I detailed and cleaned the vehicle, and delivered it in perfect running order. They did tell me that the oil light came on, which i had forgotten to add a quart when i noticed it was low prior to delivery. They added said qt of oil, returning the dashboard to indicating ZERO isses. No issues came up during multiple test drives, including 3 by the buyer of the vehicle. On Feb 25th, i received a call from Sam at Elk Mountain requesting a lower sales price, at which point i agreed to come down to $8,500. (This doesnt include their markup, it is the amount i was due to receive, and have a signed contract for) They worked out a deal with their customer, who purchased the vehicle (on or about Feb 27th). On Weds, March 1st, 2023, i stopped at the dealership hoping to collect my check for the sale, however, they do have 15 days as stated in the consignment contract. Sam (the salesman i dealt with both times) told me that the customer came back 2 days after purchasing the vehicle because the check engine light came on. This could very well be the result of what the purchaser might have put into the gas tank. I was told they had an appointment to have it looked at on that Friday, March 3rd. I stopped in there again on Monday, March 6th, and was told the buyer took it in, the person who "looked at it" erased the code in the vehicles computer, and sent them on their way. The light allegedly came back on 10 minutes later, and the buyer scheduled another appointment for that Friday, March 10th. Saturday the 11th, i stopped in, and Todd (another salesman at Elk Mountain) told me that they were still having the vehicle looked at, and that they suspected that the check engine light was the result of a Catalytic Convertor, or possibly an O2 sensor that failed. I pointed out that Monday was the deadline for them to pay me. I told him the problems that developed after the customer/buyer took delivery of the vehicle are not my responsibility or problem. The catalytic converter could have failed due to some cheap additive to the fuel, which is known to plug them. Even if its just an O2 Sensor, these were functioning normally when i delivered the vehicle to Elk Mountain, there was no Check Engine light, only the low oil light, which i aknowledge i noticed prior to delvery, and forgot to add a qt to the engine. The new problems have nothing to do with normal oil usage of an engine with 180,000+ miles on it. On Monday, March 13 i received a call from Todd at Elk Mountain informing that the customer was returning the vehicle the following day, and that i could pick it up after noon on the 14th.As with any used car sale, the buyer of the used vehicle, agrees that the purchase is "AS IS", and no warranty is implied. An extended service contract is available to buyers, however i dont know the terms of the sale whether the buyer opted to buy that. The bottom line in all of this is that once the vehicle is sold, the dealer is to pay me the agreed upon amount, not string me along and refuse to pay me because the customer developed issues post-purchase, which the "AS IS" paper they signed as a standard used vehicle purchase contract, does not allow them to return the vehicle 2 weeks later, with unspecified damages that the dealership is now telling me are my problem. The owner Bob called me attempting to get me to come in and meet with him in an effort to further bilk me out of money. I am now actively pursuing criminal Consignment Fraud charges against them, and filing a lawsuit to include over $10,000 in losses of business income due to being down a vehicle for the last 5 months.Dont buy from these scam artists!

Awesome dealership! Bought a truck from here and were very reasonable. I found out the window on the drivers side was broken right after I had bought it, and Todd offered to pay to fix it. Super great guys! Highly recommend buying a vehicle from here.

It was a good experience. Very satisfied. Edit: 5/2/23. Trouble is a brewing. Todd Harris has provided multiple promises and excuses, but no title in over a month. Hope to get this resolved.

I don't usually write reviews but Elk Mountain took such good care of me when things didn't go as planned. Sam Smith went above and beyond to take care of me. I purchased a truck from them and prior to releasing the truck they noticed some things that needed to be repaired. They arranged with another company for the repairs. While driving home one of the repairs failed and I was stranded. Sam Smith dropped everything on a Saturday and traveled 100 miles to trailer the truck and me back to have the truck repaired. The coordinated the repairs and got me back on my way.

Got a good deal on a 2002 Ram 1500. Solid truck that needed a little cosmetic work. They were willing to work with me and my bank's slowness (out of state institution). Sam and the rest of the staff are great to work with and I recommend anyone look here.

Friendly sales people and accommodating as well. I looked at a vehicle my friend was buying and the salesman was forthcoming with issues and I didn't spend extra time trying to play the vs. game. Recommend this place for your next vehicle.

I bought my truck from them about 3-4 years ago, to start they screwed on the price because of my credit even tho I was putting 8000 down, in the last three years I have put 17k into the truck the exact amount that they charged me. We have replaced just about wverything in the truck, in the first 6 month we had to do complete rear end break system and rear diff. Recently the motor took a dump. All oil changes and care was takin into the truck. I believe they do not care about the vehicles they sell and don t care what happens to you after they sell you the vehicle. Be very careful buying from here.

Had a super experience with Todd @ Elk Mountain. I stumbled in, pride in hand looking for someone to give me a chance on rebuilding my credit after some hard times. Todd was super friendly, compassionate, understanding, and very knowledgeable about my circumstances. He worked with what I was wanting/able to pay, and what I was looking for, and made it happen. I was recommended to him by a few close friends, and I am SO glad I didn't go elsewhere. I will recommend Elk Mountain to anyone looking for honest, and friendly fisherman-who sell vehicles. Thanks Todd!

I recently visited Elk Mountain Motors to try out a compact pickup. I'm pretty picky and it turned out to not have all the features i was looking for so Sam set out to find me exactly the truck I wanted, arranged to have it delivered to Helena, had a grill guard installed at my request, then delivered it to me in Great Falls. As I said earlier, I am very picky and Sam was very patient and thorough during the entire process. I highly recommend Elk Mountain Motors.

I bought a Ford 6.0 diesel. I knew that the 6.0 motor had flaws and expressed my concern. Now if those issues are fixed, it's called bullet proofing the motor. Once that has been done it makes the 6.0 one of the most dependable motors on the road. The salesman and the owner or Elk Mountain assured me the motor had indeed been bulletproofed and their "mechanic" had gone through and verified this had been done.Well after we put about 1000 miles on the truck it began to have issues so we took it to a diesel mechanic. Come to find out that there was never any bullet profing done to the motor of any kind and they found a few things had been Jerry rigged that according to our mechanic would have been spotted by their "mechanic" right away. Of course I contacted Elk Mountain who shrugged it off and then asked, did you get that in writing? Buyer beware if you buy from them. Bunch of lying stereotypical used car salesmen.

They could care less if you pay with cash since they claim they get the money in fast. When we tried to negotiate, they were not at all flexible with offers, they knew what they want and demand that and basically told us to get lost even with a good deal for them. Cars are way too high priced for high miles, and also extra fees so don't trust the asking price, it more than likely could be a thousand more.

Do not purchase a car at Elk Mountain. We bought a 2005 3500 GMC Sierra a little over a month ago. I thought I could trust them, because I knew the owner, Bob. I was told by Todd the sales person, "our mechanic checked this truck out and it is a very good truck." Based on what happened after we purchased this truck, there is no way that a mechanic checked out the truck. Before purchasing, I had my boyfriend scan the truck and look it over first. The scan came back good, but little did we know, the truck had been deleted and a different tuner had been installed. The codes coming back were from the original tune. The very next day after purchasing it the nightmare began. The vehicle was having issues, so we took it into Kolar Tire. They were able to bypass some of the installed tune and determined 7/8 injectors were bad. Bob, the owner, agreed to only pay for the injectors, but on the condition that my boyfriend do the 2 days work it took into installing them. We also agreed to pay for the new PCM it needed it, too. Unfortunately, because the truck had been deleted and a different tune had been installed, we lost considerable power after the PCM and new injectors were installed. I tried for weeks to get the name of the tune installed and was told that the previous owner said that he had left the control/programmer to the tuner in the truck when he turned it in to Elk Mountain and didn't know what the tune was. Todd said he would try to find the control in the shop. He couldn't find it. For over 2 weeks I tried to get this resolved and just got the run around. In the mean time, the truck has needed the following, which cost us a lot of money: drive train, water pump, hydro booster, front end work, transfer case seal, fuel pressure regulator and valve. We paid a mechanic to do the hydro booster and water pump ($1,500), and my boyfriend did the rest of the work (29 hours worth). Meanwhile, we had to cancel over $1,700 worth of delivery orders for his business. After 3 weeks, I was able to find a mechanic who could bypass the delete and install a new tune. I asked if they could at least pay for the $375 to install the new tune. This was over a week ago and I still have not heard back from them. We bought this truck for my boyfriend's business. In the last month, because of all of the repairs needed, we have lost a considerable amount of income on top of the $2,845 put out in parts/repairs. If we had to pay for a mechanic to do all of the repairs we would have put out an additional $2,775 for a total of $5,600.

We traveled from Bozeman to Helena to look at a specific vehicle at Elk Mountain. When we got there we decided that the original car we were looking at wasn t the right fit for me. Todd then showed us some inventory that hadn t been out for sale yet! They were so kind and patient with all of our questions! We left and looked at a few other options in the Helena area and could not find a better deal than what Todd and the Elk Mountain crew were offering us. They went above and beyond and even delivered the car to Bozeman after they had it detailed and serviced! I am thrilled with my new car and couldnt recommend them more!!

Ok. Yes this place sells vehicles. I've known people who have bought cars and trucks from here and have been satisfied. I don't come for the cars or trucks though. I come for the fishing tackle. Yes, fishing tackle. Rapalas, jigs, plastics, trawling rigs, Panther Martin's, and flies. A great selection someplace you'd never expect it. Next time you're heading to the lake, stop on in!

They do not stand behind their vehicles. Purchased a vehicle from them some months ago and the engine recently blew. Turns out they had only put a quart of oil in the engine (the shop said there were no signs of any leaks). This was my first vehicle purchase and I made the rookie mistake of not checking the oil myself, so some blame is on me. However, the lack of oil was clear negligence on their part as well, yet they will take no responsibility and are leaving me high and dry with a $9000 fix for an $11000 vehicle.
