Definitely worth the drive, even though the road is not completely paved and quite rough in many areas. We did not stay overnight, just came to hike, and have lunch at Ptarmigan Dining Hall. The parking lot sits high above the hotel, with a number of steps getting you down to lake level. There are multiple opportunities to take great photos along the way. The inside of the hotel has that wonderful lodge-feel that you get in many of our national parks.

Absolutely stunning. A classic, National Park lodge with a long history. The setting is just unparalleled and you'll see a lot of wildlife, even within steps from the hotel. Plenty of great hiking nearby.Nearby activities: Hiking the Grinnell-Glacier Trail was a nice half-day trip. We walked the whole route but you can take the boat to cut your trip time.

Historical and Iconic hotel inside Glacier National Park. We stayed here during our vacation at Glacier National Park and really had a wonderful time. The park is conveniently located to a lot of hiking trails. The view from the Hotel is amazing. They have restaurants inside and they even have a park ranger that gives information and talk about the park and its natural surroundings and habitats. Highly recommend staying in this place.

Lovely spot to stop inside Glacier, on the Many Glacier side. We stopped twice for a drink and set on the patio where lots of people hang out and spot wildlife. We saw black bears both times! One was swimming in the lake in front of us, near kayaks. Lots of other food options in the resort, including fruit and espressos, which we generally don't hope to find.Nearby activities: can rent kayak or go horseback riding!

I can't speak to the rooms here as we o ly visited for lunch. I can say that the environment, atmosphere, and "feel" of the hotel are classic mountain amazing. The huge common area with fireplace was incredible and I suspect would be even more so in winter. The dining room had a buffet and service that was excellent, and the kids said it felt fancy.Be sure to stop for a seat on the deck to take in some beautiful views.Nearby activities: It's in the middle of Glacier National Park - enough said!

This was our favorite place to stay. Of course the rooms are dated, but who goes to Glacier to sit in a room. This is an authentic historic hotel and that gives it the charm. The rooms were clean and adequate. The atmosphere and food was great. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The view over the lake was amazing. We had a dilemma with our rental car where the car battery died and we could not get in the car as the fob had no key, nor did the door have a keyhole etc. We were in a mess with no car, no reservation(we were leaving that night), and all of our possessions were in the car locked. The rental company was useless and left us stranded. Eric at the MG Hotel made it his personal goal to help us out even staying after his shift to make sure we were taken care of. He made personal calls to get us into the car and jumped off. He gets an A+ from us! Zach was very helpful with our bags and hiking information and I d like to mention how nice and helpful Michael at the restaurant was to make sure we ate when all of our stuff was locked in the car.(I hope I got their names correct, because these guys are worth mentioning) I highly recommend this place as well as that portion of the park for seeing the big ticket items GNP has to offer.

Great location. Beautiful scenery. Rooms are very small and not worthy of the $650 / night rate. It was hot, even with the windows open. The restaurants are run by a franchise called Xanterra. The prices are high and the quality is low. Fancy names for their dishes but very corporate tasting food. Not worthy of your money, but you have no other options. Service was great, which was the highlight of the meal.

Expect a wait. This place seems pretty popular but it is the only restaurant in this hotel. I would visit the bar next door while you wait for your name to be called to help kill time. It was worth the wait. My chicken was incredibly moist and flavorful. They sat us down next to the window, which was a beautiful view of the mountains. Staff was very friendly and helpful with helping me decide what to order. Thank you.

Wonderful stay. Expensive, but it's location, location, location. Our first room had a moldy smell, but they accommodated us with a smile and moved us to another room that was great and facing the lake. I wish they had more than one dining room though. Don't spend the money to ride the boat on Swiftcurrent Lake next to the hotel though - hike around it instead. It's well marked, 2.7 miles and flat which tool only 1 hour and 9 minutes. Be aware, there are several miles of dirt/gravel road coming to the hotel.

Loved our stay here and would stay the next time. Rooms were what you d expect at a national park lodge-rustic-and there was no daily room service. The draw is the location and proximity to amazing hikes. Loved meeting the national park workers in the dining room and talking with other travelers. My sense is that this hotel is the best in the park.

Can't beat the location and the views the lake-facing room provides. The staff we spoke to were friendly and knowledgeable. The room, however, was sub-par. We ended up staying only one of the two nights that we booked. We were located directly across from the lone ice machine in our building, and there was no sound isolation between our room and the machine except for our door. The machine ran all night long with frequent 'ice avalanches' as the machine refilled the ice reservoir. There was a quarter-size hole in the screen door's screen, and I needed to reattach the security hook on the screen door (used a stick to fill the hole and screw the hook back into the door). The bed was uncomfortable and seemed to be at a slant. The room was not vacuumed very well.We understand the challenges of staffing and maintaining a property that's not open very many months of the year, but the property was certainly below our expectations, particularly considering the price per night. But again, the location could not be beat.

I was a little unsure about staying here after reading some bad reviews on it but I can say after two nights it s worth it.Pros: 1. location, location, location. Period. The views speak for themselves! Access to loads of trails is another bonus. 2. This is a hotel built in 1915 that recently underwent a renovation to modernize some of the features while keeping the old time Swiss lodge feel. 3. The rooms are clean. 4. The food options are great. We also loved the little cafe with coffee in the mornings.Cons: 1. the shower water barely got hot. Disappointing but being an older hotel and knowing that the alternative to this hotel would be camping out with no shower this wasn t a deal breaker for me. 2. There is no AC in the building, usually not an issue however it was 95 degrees out the day we stayed so these rooms were hot at night, even with the windows open.Overall the experience exceeded expectations and if you re staying here to enjoy the best views and hikes at Glacier you can t go wrong.

The low stars are because it is not made obvious (I'd say it's not listed at all, but maybe it's hidden on some page I didn't manage to find) that you have to drive about 9 miles on an unpaved, pothole ridden, sorry excuse for a road, to get here!!The boat tour was great.. the lodge is nice as far as overpriced NPS lodges go.. the trails are convenient.. but the entrance!! It's horrible! If you're planning on using Many Glaciers as your base of operations to explore the rest of the park, be prepared to shake your teeth out every time you leave and come back!

We decided to stop and have a cocktail and some dinner and I am so glad we did. My huckleberry smash and bison short ribs and huckleberry ice cream was delicious and the ambiance was amazing.Next time I come to visit my mom in Montana I will be staying the night! We saw a grizzly just walking along the road and apparently the day before a moose was taking a swim in the lake while everyone watching on the deck.Truly magical experience and the hotel itself feels like you re staying in an old Swiss lodge . I suggest you make a stop if you re able to.

Booking this place is for the amazing location and that lives up to it's promise. The hotel and rooms are very dated with old fixtures and uninsulated and thin walls but whatever. The location of it being on the lake and the ability to access Grinnell Glacier in the morning is a huge plus. Dinner was expensive and average in quality but as expected it's a national park. Cheaper food in the ground level to go cafeteria. Highly recommend the kayak. Also pianos everywhere that you can play. Would stay again just for the location although a few renovations would be nice

Everything was great. We didn t book a lake view room but was surprised with a room that had partial lake view. The hotel is old but nice and clean. We had a comfortable stay. Only complaint was they had to mown the lawn that was covered in full bloom wildflowers. Very uncomfortable to watch and the sound was disturbing for a quiet beautiful morning where we just wanted to enjoy the lake view. There s no such thing as weed, this isn t a place I d expect to see landscapes being overly managed.

Great hotel! Perfect location to explore the park from within and not have to leave and fight for parking daily. Rooms were better than expected, as I was nervous with some of the reviews. Perfectly fine! You do need to refresh online constantly to book the same room type for your trip, but things really open up the week before your trip as people are constantly cancelling and making changes. Beds and shower were totally fine! We had a Double and Twin in the room and although it sleeps 3, it would be tight walking around. Only problem was the lack of AC. Knew this going in and we turned on the small fan in the room, but we opened the patio door to get air in at night and had the screened door there still. Well the holes must not be small enough to prevent small bugs in the park from flying through as probably 50 little guys flew in and were circling our main ceiling light in the room. I would not suggest opening the windows! It will just get warm and stuffy in the room by 9-10ish especially if you re not facing the lake and therefore facing East. Also I was worried about the parking and bags with what I had previously read - the parking lot is in an elevated lot but there is a roundabout and handicapped parking (I believe) right in front of the hotel to unload bags and people, etc. so you don t need to carry bags to and from the lot.Rooms: Above expectations! Only challenge was lack of ACFood & drinks: Restaurant was pretty good for dinner! Slightly overpriced but location location location

Wow this hotel was so much better than we expected. For an old hotel they keep the place super clean. Every staff person we came across we're so genuinely nice and helpful. The view is spectacular any time of day rain or shine! If you can appreciate being transported back in time without all the modern conveniences, this is the place for you. Also the food was great. We had the top sirloin, bison short rib, *salmon, *pork rib tenderloin, pork belly, **whitefish caviar, huckleberry margaritas, bear honey ale, and bear cider. This with the stars are MUST HAVES! 10 stars all around

This hotel is one of the most beautiful locations I have ever been in my entire life. The hotel has a ton of character. The staff was friendly, funny, and helpful. The food was good. The views were incredible! My only drawback that I experienced was the cleanliness of the room. There was someone s else s hair on the shower walls when we checked in. We did a ton of hiking, and I wrap my big toes in tape to prevent blisters. There was a little bit of adhesive left on my toes when we arrived back to our room, and after just minutes of walking around the room, I had clumps of other people s hair stuck to my toes. The carpets didn t seem very clean and it really grossed me out. The parking lot is a bit of a walk, and thankfully even with hikers parking, there was always enough anytime of the day. I hesitate to dock a star, just because I will FOR SURE stay here again.

Honestly, we just came here to view the lake. My boyfriend grew up in kalispell and spent a lot of his childhood in glacier national park...he recalled coming here as a child and wanted to share it with me. Unfortunately, they were closed for the season. But we still got to walk down the the lake and snap some pics

I can only share my experience with the Ptarmigan where we ate lunch since we weren't staying at the hotel, but the food was delicious, and the service was friendly and attentive to our needs. The interior is beautiful and the views are spectacular, of course, and we enjoyed the gift shop as well. The lounge areas were comfortable and spacious while we waited for our table.

Stayed 2 nights, Unfortunately I booked too late so got Park-view room (I mean parking lot view :-), though there was tremendously nice view behind parking lot. I didn't caresince we were not there to see outside through window. The location is superb. The trail around the hotel and the lake is also great, I would stay more than weeks if I could..Nearby activities: Great trails nearby, the east part of Glacier National Park.Walkability: Trails around the hotel is great, also wheelchair accessible. Wheel chair access in the hotel also not bad (there's an elevator in side wing of the building).

Postcard Views!! We didn t stay here, but had lunch at the restaurant and also took the boat ride. The boat that leaves from here is very popular and really need reservations otherwise you won t get a spot.Food at the restaurant was fine, nothing spectacular. The hotel itself is old with lots of unique details and displays about the history.Nearby activities: You can take a tour on the Little Chief boat from here. They also have kayaking. And of course hiking.Safety: Extremely safe.Walkability: Hikes are right out the back door!Food & drinks: Food was fine - had lunch at the restaurant. Asked to be by a window but was seated on the side.Noteworthy details: Spectacular views! Parking lot is in an area above the hotel.

This is the building with the longest history inside Glacier NP. Following a Swiss style, the architecture itself worths a visit. Super duper awesome scene from any angles. I can spend the whole day just laying back in the armchair or swing or the couch to observe the birds or the change of sunlight. It has many pianos that you can enjoy playing which adds extra layers to the ambience. A gift store here provides wonderful collections of ceramic or glass pieces. The restaurant and coffee shops are good. Thought the room is a bit outdated and a bit small, all other facilities and services are amazing.

We did not stay at the Lodge for our hike, but we dined at the Ptarmigan room. At 6am we were among the first people sat, but that didn t stop Chloe from taking excellent care of us. Food was perfect for a nice pre-hike meal, service was even better! Thank you Chloe!Nearby activities: The Hotel is within Glacier Park so there are views right outside. There are a couple of easy hikes you could do around the lake that are mostly, If not all, flat.Walkability: Resort is huge and offers hikes of all difficulties.Food & drinks: Continental Breakfast & Full Breakfast Buffet offered for a very reasonable price considering not much is nearby.

Many Glacier - A Hidden Gem!We went late in the day and saw so much wild life! We saw Grizzlys, Brown Bear, and Moose! 5 Bears and 2 Moose in the spand of about 2 hours. Go before sunset!Fun Facts: 1 Many Glacier boasts over 700 lakes and stunning alpine scenery!2 This area is home to abundant wildlife, including bears and moose!3 Did you know that Many Glacier Hotel is an architectural marvel built in 1915? Hiking Advice: Don't miss the Grinnell Glacier hike for breathtaking views! Also, Iceberg Lake Trail is a must for wildlife enthusiasts. If you want to shave 3 miles off of your out and back hike, then I recommend getting the boat tour . They will bring you 1.5 miles closer and on the trail to Grinnell Glacier, AND you will have a return trip when you are finishing your hike! Also, with a boat cruise purchase, you can enter the park whenever you want! Beats waking up at 5AM!Dining: Treat yourself at the Many Glacier Hotel's Swiss Lounge or the Ptarmigan Dining Room for a taste of local delicacies! The campground down the road has a great gift shop and quick service food and drinks!Other Must-Dos: Take a boat tour on Swiftcurrent Lake and join a ranger-led program to learn more about the park's natural wonders. Many Glacier is around 30 minutes from St. Mary. Perfect for a quick day trip! You will need to have a pass to get in between 6-3. We recommend saving this for early morning or late afternoon to see the wildlife, and if you go for the hike, arrive early. This area was our favorite for wildlife spotting! In just a couple of hours, we encountered 4 bears and 2 majestic moose. Such a wild experience! Nearby activities: Hiking and animal watching.

Definitely an amazingly beautiful location to spend time and explore this part of Glacier National Park! When can put in reservations for rooms online. Parking is available. There are restaurants and gift shops to purchase food or gifts. Plenty of hiking trails to start from this area or a short walk or drive away. Staff is friendly and helpful!I can t say enough about the views in this part of the national park here in Montana!
