I can't say enough good things about Righty Tighty auto repair. Jared was beyond helpful. He and Danny ran diagnostics on my 2016 Outback and offered good advice. These men are honest and knowledgeable, and professional; I will be back for all my Subaru needs.

Just had a baby, and our Subaru was sending fumes into the cabin. Kevin managed to squeeze us in same day to take care of the issue. Very impressed, thanks again.

Fantastic! Took my 2018 WRX to them and they fixed a boost leak for me in. Guys were super friendly, knowledgable and trust worthy. If you are taking a road trip out west in your Subi and are going to through Montana or Yellowstone they are definitely the place to go for service. Could not be more happy with them!

I was having issues with my 2014 Outback for over half a year. I was in and out of mechanic shops, being told several different things by several different mechanics. I finally figured out my car needed a new transmission. I looked around at junkyards trying to find a used, low mileage transmission. Finally found one and was told would be here in a week. Three weeks go by, and it s not here and not even shipped yet. I didn t trust the company anymore so I canceled the order. Started calling around and I was very fortunate to have been referred to Righty Tighty. They found me a used transmission with low miles in less than a day. To say they were extremely helpful is an understatement. Come time to do the transmission swap, they followed through with their plan and had my car ready when they said it would be. Righty Tighty is very knowledgeable, professional, and efficient. They are the only mechanic shop I will trust with my Subaru from now on. If I could give them 10/5 stars, I would. Thank you Righty Tighty!Services: Transmission, Transmission repair

Indeed the best Subaru shop in the valley. They took a look at my car in moments, were very transparent on their process by letting me walk around the car with them pointing out my concerns, and them explaining what they are checking for. Amazing people, professionals, TRANSPARENT, understanding, and friendly overall. Their certification speaks for itself when it comes down to mechanic stuff. Very trustworthy. If you are in the Gallatin valley and have a Subaru, bring it here. Best Subaru repair shop

I would give them ZERO stars if it was an option. My engine blew near Bozeman going from Montana to Colorado. On a recommendation of a Bozeman local, I had righty tighty replace the engine. Months later I'm still discovering the ways they screwed me over. I never received and information about the supposedly refurbished engine they put in. I recently discovered that they broke the wiring connection to the mass flow sensor, a $300 fix. I also discovered that they cut the wires to the reverse light switch and didn't fix it, or tell me about it. I have had a check engine light on from the day after I picked up the car that relates to the engine work they did. I live in Colorado and took it to a dealer here and they said that righty tighty did not use standard Subaru parts on the (supposedly) refurbished engine.Do not trust them. Am I angry? Yes! I guess since they knew I was from out of state they thought they would take advantage of me.Service: Engine repair

Jared and his team are some of the friendliest and most knowledgeable people I have ever come across! I first brought my Subaru here in 2019 and will continue to bring it in, they always do a wonderful job. Also managed to fit me in today within an hour, with an issue no other place would have bothered to help me with!

This is where I came after B & B Auto Repair turned out so badly. These guys set me up for an appointment first thing on a Monday. I dropped my car off Sunday night. They open at 9:00. I called at 9:15 to make sure we were on track.... and the first repair was already done, and they had an estimate of noon for the second repair.I got a call at 10:40. Done. For less money than expected.Awesome work, awesome service, awesome communication.Service: General repairs & maintenance

These guys are life savers. I broke down on my way from Bonners Idaho to Sheridan Wyoming and called these guys last minute in the middle of a busy day and they had me back on the road within the hour. They were super friendly and knowledgeable, if you drive a Subaru don't take it anywhere else. Jared, Don and the team are the best!Service: Auto maintenance

Righty Tighty is an amazing Subaru repair destination. They are knowledgeable, fairly priced, and punctual. I called on two separate occasions with unrelated problems and I'm both cases they diagnosed them immediately over the phone. These guys are second to none on their skill and knowledge!

I used to go to Intensive Car but when they closed I went on the hunt for a local shop. I was so happy to find Don's repair that has become Righty Tighty. They have been so helpful and kind to me. I trust their expertise and their prices are unbeatable! I'm so glad that I had built a relationship with the shop when I got into an accident. They got my car back up and running in no time at all and at a fraction of the cost that I was quoted at the shop that the other driver's insurance wanted me to use.I can't recommend this shop enough. I trust their advice and they are always square on their prices.

Editing my previous review with more detailsHopefully they have a dedicated service advisor/office person now as they ve gotten bigger and expanded a bit since getting ahold of them on the phone can be tricky.I found out about them from tire world after I got tire world in a bit over their heads when my shift linkage roll pin snapped. Stuart and his team served me well on several repairs including a clutch job, camshaft oil seal, an engine replacement, and suspension components. What I really appreciate is that they keep several parts cars onsite for miscellaneous trim pieces and good used parts which came in handy when I brought my car in for an oil and transmission fluid change and when they had it up on the lift they discovered that my drivers front lower control arm bushing was in the process of falling out of the lower control arm.TLDR: I can t say enough good things about Righty Tighty and the work they did for me on my 2006 2.5i manual limited and 2005 3.0R LL Bean, and if I hadn t moved to Spokane I d still be going here

These guys did a great job getting me back on the road in no time after hitting a deer. Highly recommend coming here before anywhere else if you need work done on your Subaru. Definitely bringing my Forester back to these guys the next time it needs a fix for any reason.

Outstanding! Stuart and Ian run the best auto repair shop in the valley. I was in a pinch and needed to have my front shocks replaced before a long trip. Stuart was able to work me into his schedule last minute, get parts ordered and have the job done well before estimated, with a fair price to boot! I wouldn t trust my vehicle or my family s safety with anyone else. Thanks for the great work, guys!

My 7 year old Subaru was making a strange noise but basically functioning well. I took it to Righty Tighty for diagnosis. Unfortunately the fix involved replacing the transmission, which would be about 75% of the car's value. The people at Righty Tighty were very helpful in finding information and helping me come the the conclusion that my best choice was probably to trade in and get a new car. I will definitely visit again!!Service: Transmission

These guys were absolutely great. They were able to repair several issues with our 2008 Subaru Forester at a reasonable price and got us in for repairs day-of our arrival in Bozeman, on our way across country. Every other mechanic in Bozeman gave us 1-2 week wait estimates; we were very lucky to find them. Jared and Danny (hoping I remembered their names correctly) were friendly and informative, even taking time to show us the logistics of what the problems were with our car and the details of how components function and what caused the damages. If we lived in Bozeman, we would never take our Subaru anywhere else!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, A/C installation & repair, Air conditioning

Absolutely amazing business! Jared and Righty Tighty went way beyond what I would expect from an Auto Repair business to ensure that our car was running well and would get us back to MN safely. We were visiting Bozeman from MN in our Subaru Forester. Friday afternoon it had a check engine light come on and started running really badly. I called a bunch of garages in Bozeman and was told I was basically out of luck. The earliest any of them would be able to look at the car would be Monday, and then they'd be hard pressed to do any work on it. We were planning to leave Bozeman on Monday for the 1000 mile drive back to MN so things were looking pretty grim. A couple of the other garages recommended calling Righty Tighty. I called them at 4:15pm on Friday (they close at 5). Jared said, "If you can get down here before 5, I can take a look and see what's up". We drove down there, he checked the codes, popped the hood and found the issue. He showed us what was going on, explained how to fix it if it happened again, and said that by clearing the Error Code we may get some bad idling. If we did, he said come back Monday at 9 and he could fix that too. We drove the car over the weekend and it was idling poorly, but at least we managed to get out skiing. I wasn't feeling confident driving the car back home, so stopped back at 9am on Monday morning. They were in the process of clearing snow when I showed up, but Jared pulled the car into his shop and cleaned the intake valve which he expected was causing the idling. He then gave the rest of the engine a look over for any other issues, and said he felt good about us making the drive back to MN. Despite horrendous weather and road conditions (lots of snow, -10 temps and blowing snow so bad that I-94 was closed for 100 miles) we made it back to MN and the car ran great the whole time. This saved our vacation. We would have been stuck in Bozeman for the weekend without a car, and no way of knowing if it would actually get us home. Their knowledge, expertise and most importantly, the fact that they obviously care about their customers blew me away.If I lived in Bozeman, this would be my Auto-Repair Shop for life!Service: General repairs & maintenance

awesome guys working there. had a worn wheel bearing that needed fixing and didn't have the proper tools to take it out myself. guys had the parts necessary and had the job done the next day in a super timely manner. when I had some questions about a couple issues they found, they took the time to explain the issues to me and didn't rush me at all. will definitely be back.Service: General repairs & maintenance

While on a family trip to Yellowstone, my daughter s car started throwing all kinds of codes. Jared listened to what we had diagnosed (we had a specific error code), and said he could work in the fix the same day. Her car is now code free, we are relieved parents, she can return to work tomorrow, and we can continue our trip. I can t thank Jared and the rest of the team for the speedy, considerate, and educational fix! I fully recommend this shop, and hope my kid takes them up on offers to diagnose via phone if it is needed in the future. Thanks so much!!!

The knowledge and ethical sense are among the best I've seen in the the mechanical industry. They do great work, but not too much for an extra buck. I will bring my Subaru to them as long as they are open and I'm in Bozeman (they specialize in Subarus).Although the quality of mechanical work is top notch, the shop leaves something to be desired. It is a bit out of the way, there is no good place to wait inside and no sign is placed out front, making the shop hard to find.Despite the shop, I'd recommend this place to anyone with a Subaru, concerned about costs and interested in a good relationship with their mechanic.

Was recommended by another shop in town that doesn't handle turbo engines. Reputation for being the best in the valley with turbo engines. Tim was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and communicative. Sincerely appreciate him taking the time to help explain a trade that he clearly knows very well.

I'm a traveling musician, and was on the road on a snowy day when my rear wiper ceased functioning. Pulled in to Righty Tighty, they jumped right on diagnosing the problem (worn out, shorting wiring harness), and quoted me a fair price for repair. They were able to make me an appointment the next morning, when I'd be passing back through Bozeman on my way to my next show. Next day, I showed up on time, they got right after it, did great work, were friendly and relaxed, and I was on my way in less time than I expected. i wish I lived in Bozeman - I'd take my Subaru to Righty Tighty any time I needed work done...
