Absolutely the best car repair experience I've ever had! The team at Top Tech were extremely accommodating with my situation and very friendly throughout every interaction, no matter who was helping me. I will definitely be returning for any future repairs and would highly recommend them to anyone else having car troubles!They had my car repaired in just a day including the time it took to source multiple parts, and were able to get my car in basically right away after I requested an appointment through the convenient form on their website! I chose the text option for communication and they kept me very well updated about my car's situation, which was very much appreciated. They also worked with me and around my schedule throughout the entire process which allowed me to not miss any work despite me working basically all of the convenient hours in the day.Then when it turned out I wouldn't be able to make it back to their shop to pick up my repaired car in time, they let me pay with my card over the phone and dropped my car off at my place of work for me! I never expected that sort of accommodation and it really made everything totally stress free from start to finish. Working with these guys was amazing!

This is literally the first public review I have ever done but my experience with Top Tech merits sharing. They provide top-notch service. I'm from out of town and am on the road for work. I broke down in a remote corner of SE MT on a Friday afternoon and was towed after hours to Top Tech. I had been in contact with the owner, Darin, to make sure they could get me in on Saturday and he assured me they would do everything they could to get me back on the road. The repair was pretty major and they kept me informed as they worked through it. They were thorough in their effort to make sure it was done right so the truck would be safe and reliable going forward. And they had me back and heading home Saturday afternoon. My car has been my office across the West for almost thirty years and I have had many auto service experiences. My experience with Top Tech was the best I have had and I would recommend them highly.

Unbelievable service! We called on a Saturday morning with unknown car problems on our way through town. They were down to one mechanic and took us in. Not just us, but also our 5 month old puppy. We hung in their comfy shop and chatted with a band whom they also assisted last minute. Highly recommend!

There is Not Enough GOOD THINGS to say about the Accountability and Technical Knowledge the owner has.Having been in the automotive management business, growing up around gear heads and the like, and having grown up military and served myself:We do most of our work, and are older professional adults with kids still at home. As a service connected disabled veteran, my disability doesn't go a long way, and was honored to hear this place values this, and hard work in general.So, for you of those offended for the "Snowflake" employment comment, you obviously do not understand what it means...It means, A job worth doing, is worth doing well, or not at all.The lack of work ethic in our country has led to many of our current unpleasant situations.When we brought in our rig for, what we thought a simple A/C diagnostic and quick repair turned into them saving our A/C and our entire Transmission. They saved us $5k easy! ONLY BECAUSE THEY CARE.We were sure to bring 30 cans of Food for thier community church drive. COMMUNITY church, not for an out of state charity.Again, not enough GOOD things I can say about this Long time reputable business owner!The Jones Family are forever loyal customers!

I don t normally do reviews but I had to for these folks! I was in Billings for a couple days and at the end of my trip my truck decided to not start for me right before we needed to get home. AAA tried jumping me with no luck, and after making some calls my wife talked to these folks and they said they would be able to get us in. Considering so many people were having car issues I was incredibly grateful and surprised they put us at the front of their list. AAA towed us here, and they figured out my starter relay was shot and corroded. They replaced my relay and fixed some of the corrosion within an hour and a half. Overall it was a little pricey for the work done but seemed worth it to me with the priority they gave us. Their waiting area was awesome and they kept us updated every step of the way.Thanks again to Darren and the crew they had that day. I even overheard him talking to the incredibly nice front desk woman about how they had someone call out that day too, but they seemed to be able to roll with the punches and work through it. Thanks for helping me out, it was nice to be able to sleep in my own bed last night!If I m ever in Billings and need work done these guys will be one of my first calls!

Very happy these guys are open on Saturday! I am from out of town and my check engine light came on. I was able to bring my car in right away and a couple of hours later my car was fixed, washed and I was on my way home on time! Thanks guys!

Sooo grateful for Darin and the crew. We were headed to CA for an extended stay. TopTech did a road worthy check on a Saturday. Found things that would have been bad problems in the middle of no where. Got us ready for our trip that day Thanks for taking such great care of us and making our trip worry free. Pros in a Pro shop. Best Bob

In October my diesel truck broke down in a snow storm. AAA contacted Top Tech and they let me tow it there. Frank and Darren went above and beyond and were amazing. Frank kept me updated the whole time and I was able to get my truck home to Oregon after the fix. These guys will go the extra mile. So grateful I found them

Driving across country is already terribly stressful. I found myself with a car that wasn t acting right late on a Saturday. I called and Darrin said bring it over for us to look at it. Not only did he thoroughly diagnose it. He helped me personally get on my way and get myself together so I could continue even though my car could not. This shop is truly special and the community is lucky to have it. Walking in to the shop it felt like home with their God bless America signs, their food drive and their military first representative signs. I am a military spouse has been served 30 years in the Navy, so seeing this brought tears to my eyes and comfort to my soul.Don t hesitate to use this amazing place support this business that supports the community and personally takes care of their customers like family.Darrin without you and your crew I would not have made it that day, or even had hope to continue. Took my car in to have new brake pads put on the front. They said the rotors would also need replacement and gave me a quote for just under $700. I called up the Ford dealership and they would do the same job for $600. A private shot should not be more expensive than the dealership.

We were on a 2 week family vacation and our truck broke down 1,200 miles from home. It's a big decision of who you can trust far away from home to fix your vehicle without taking you for all you got! Tom, Darren, and his incredible team took PHENOMENAL care of us, from the long and drawn out battle with the insurance company to arranging a date over 2 months later to fly back to get our truck...and for a VERY reasonable price. If we lived closer, we would definitely trust Top Tech with any and all of our vehicle needs. They are, hands down, the most incredible folk - good hearts and in business for the right reasons: doing their best work, with great attitudes, to keep people rolling!

Hurts to leave such a negative review, but I have no choice... DISHONEST AND OVERCHARGES! Smile to your face, stab you in the back. Quoted $2300 for a blown head gasket, walked out paying $6000! Took over 3 weeks and still came out incomplete and charged for things they never did!. Also I was never notified of the insanely growing price. You will bring you car in for one thing and Darrin will call you later with "oh we found this" list suggesting you should fix everything he "finds". This would be good if coming from an honest shop. Heard him doing it to others on the phone in the waiting room. Not surprised to hear many others stories of, for example my old boss, being quoted $300 for radiator repair and paying $900 when its done. I got stranded on the side of the road (In a snow storm) because they never bothered to re- connect the positive lead on my alternator. Charged for work not preformed, charged for front rotors to be resurfaced and down the road (less than 2,000 miles...) had to get them replaced. The brake shop that replaced them said they were never resurfaced, just new brake pads. They even gave me a written statement for legal purposes putting their name on the line because they were that sure! Darrin has completely blown me off after I contacted him about this. He has poorly trained apprentices doing most of the work but charges you top dollar. His excuse for ducking my calls and emails was he just had to fire someone... wonder why! Sadly we will have to waste time when we are back in MT to deal with litigation and having every repair checked by a non biased mechanic for court. Great bathroom and waiting room he built with all this stolen money though! Oh and he insists on you giving 5 star reviews and is near extortment levels about it so I would not trust some of the reviews on here.

My transmission went out on a cross-country trip to college when I was driving alone. Dustin (I think he s the owner) allowed me to have it towed to his shop and did research for me outside working hours for several days to try and find a transmission for me. Didn t charge me for all this research or for keeping it in his garage several days (he was protecting the stuff in my car from being stolen) when I decided not to repair it due to cost. If it hadn t been for this guy and this shop I would ve been in even worse straits. Highly recommend this shop based off this experience. This guy saw a person in need and had compassion. Wish more people were like that.

Be ready to haggle and argue on the specifics, my car was disabled whilst driving, and when brought to Top Tech for an inspection- which I was expecting to pay for, we ended up waiting 12 days for them to do- what they themselves said, was a quick inspection, something that would take less than 15 minutes to figure out.They billed us for labor, Hazardous material removal, and Parts.For an inspection- which is fine I suppose, but they did not explain what was on the bill and why.The main issue, is that wanted to charge 217 for- what they said over the phone was as simple as pulling it into the shop, taking a 15 minute look to know the engine was seized, and then moved on.Apparently, at Top Tech, 15 minutes is 1 hour of labor.Thankfully they were willing to haggle the price with us to lower it, overall their service is good, my family has frequented the shop many times, and have only been bitten rough this one time.So long as you are coming in for ACTUAL repairs, their prices are fair, but if you just want an inspection- find a cheaper shop.Service: Vehicle Inspection

My alternator on my truck fried while i was driving and my tow truck driver recommended top tech. Im so glad he did because it was a very professional experience. Quick work and even talked about working a payment plan because of the situation i was in. How embarrassing to think it's acceptable to have a sign like this. It's 2023 and if you really have those types of values and opinions keep them to yourself. Billings is supposed to be so much better than this and instead of trying to make folks feel welcome they decide to show an ugly side of folks. Do not support businesses like this.

I can't say enough about Tom and his technicians. We broke down about 25 miles outside of Billings. Got a tow to Top Tech, and was grateful. It took them a minute to get it in and checked out, but they were thorough, with pictures and descriptions of everything they found. If I were here full time, there'd be no other I'd go to.Not to mention, as soon as he seen my dogs traveling with me, he was quick to bring them inside and get them water and a treat. Truly a great experience out of such a potentially miserable situation!

Absolutely the best customer service!! The waiting room is nicer than my living room!!Had a breakdown on the interstate 930 on a Friday nite and the owner answered the phone and got me in for service first thing in the morning. Has a very caring attitude for his customers. Derrin worked late into the nite making sure his customers were taken care of. Thank you definitely recommend!!!

I was driving through Yellowstone when my car had troubles. I had my car work done here because I don t know the area and needed a mechanic I could trust. Like the other reviews say, the waiting area has couches which make it comfy and Darin collects food donations for the community.

Great place to go, willing to work with you! I m not originally from Billings area and was on my way home when my car broke down. They saved my butt and were able to get me in that same day so I could make it back as soon as possible! Great customer service and hard working mechanics 10/10 would recommend

*Huge* shoutout to Top Tech Automotive for getting our 2011 Subaru Outback on the road again after we broke down during a road trip from Colorado to Canada. We showed up at 3 PM on the Saturday before 4th of July week, and everyone at Top Tech was so incredibly helpful and kind, did our repair that afternoon, and we were able to continue our trip. We really appreciate their help!

Wonderful service! Found the problem quickly and offered realistic suggestions. Very friendly! Did not try and fix or sell us anything we didn't need. I highly recommend Top Tech to anyone, whether you're passing through or live here in Billings. Friendly and charismatic staff and a beautiful, clean atmosphere, paired with a first class waiting room. Thank you Top Tech!

Was traveling through on vacation and thought this looked like a reputable shop. Good consumer service but will charge 5x the price for PARTS, they varied on price depending where we got them $2,400; 1,800. Labor not included. When I mentioned doing it myself after talking back and forth 3 times he said he found one for $1,100. I bought the parts for $500 with a lifetime warranty from O Reilly and did the fix in 1hr . GO ELSEWHERE!! I support small businesses but not ones that rip you off!

I took my car here back in February after having it break down on me while I was on the interstate passing through. I wasn t sure what had happened but I ended up blowing my timing belt. I took it here because I seen it was 5 stars but it s not even a place I would recommend. They were so admit about putting a new engine in that would cost anywhere from $3500 to $3700. We told them to put a new timing belt on and they tested the compression and it was still reading I needed a new engine. We are roughly 4 hours out of billings so we decided to just bring it home and have a shop I trust take a look at it. Not only did they charge us $2000 to get my car back but they completely left my engine a mess and my alternator was left in my trunk. After a month or so I come to find out that they didn t put my timing belt in lined up correctly. My original engine is running fantastic to this day. This was obviously a mechanic issue and if they had tried starting my engine they would be at fault for ruining it. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I m just happy I know good mechanics and a thing or two about cars.Service: Engine repair

Generally I wouldn t share anything however, being a family member of a previous technician I am still confused on how you hold someone s paycheck for over two weeks before finally getting a hold of the actual owner and calling COC and BBB we actually received the pay. Then this guy- hang on- goes into this persons new place of employment and is harassing him! Like seriously, don t show up to my job pal, you are not welcome

Top tech is awesome! They came through for me at a critical time. The service manager is a sweetheart! The mechanic that worked on my truck is awesome! Thanks Sam you can work on any vehicle that I ever own. The owner was very friendly and down to earth. He has a vast amount of experience and I would like to just say that I am forever grateful for what yall did for me. Before I left I told all of them that I loved them all at top tech. I meant that! They made me feel like the world is not filled with unconcerned people.

God places us in the right place at the right time!! I needed my muffler put back into my car after it fell out (in the most convenient location possible). I thought I would have to figure out where to get my vehicle towed as I live out of town. AAA recommended this shop and it happened to be right behind me. I made it to the shop safely and was greeted by a mechanic (Jacob) to provide them with my information so they could contact me. I requested an estimate before any work was done and they adhered to my request. My exchanges with the mechanic and the owner were very professional, polite, and knowledgeable. A+++ The price was fair for the work completed, convenient location, as well as speed of service. This place offers a discount for AAA members. Very nice office and waiting room if you prefer to wait there. Would definitely recommend this place. Thank you so so much!!!!Service: Exhaust
