I travel across Montana from Missoula, to go back and see this crew, everything electrical to mechanical that I know for sure. I am writing because they helped me out with a tow when I was in a dire strait, fixed my engine up and gave me time and opportunities to be able to pay the cost. Then covered the tow after all. These guys are worth it.

Great service, they actually charged me less than quoted because it was an easy problem to fix. I highly recommend for an honest repair shop that will be straightforward with you about what your car needs.

My van is my tiny home, it is my everything. . .If there were 6 stars. . . Finally a mechanic that listened, when several others did not. I had a quirky fuel problem and asked they remove the gas tank and find the leak. They did find the problem w/o removing the tank ! Turned out be an added part from previous owner. Pre armed with another possible disbelief I asked they humor me and that I NEEDED them to remove the tank and find the leak. Joel came out, and treated me as if I actually knew what I was talking about. This was HUGE. HUGE !! He showed me the issue and talked through next steps. It was really cool listening and watching the collaboration between the mechanics of how to fix the issue. My van runs like a charm now. I can really feel the difference!!!Thank you a thousand times over. I feel safe againPicture is of an after market piece previous owner added.

Joel and crew, were able to get my vehicle in for major repair 1 week ahead of dealer. Delivered before dealer would have. Repair is excellent Also came in below estimate. Highly recommend and I will use in the future.Service: TransmissionService: Transmission

Update: I have been using this mechanic for years. Best place if you re not mechanically inclined. He has always gone above and beyond, but just today he was able to save me a ton of money by chatting with my auto warranty rep and clarifying the terms of the contract. Joel is honest and will always side with what is right. He made sure I got treated fairly and got a huge chunk of my repair bill taken care of. It s not his job to negotiate my third party contract, but he did it anyways because he likes to help. Original review from 5 years ago:These guys checked out my car for pre-purchase. They did an extremely thorough job, were able to spot a previous collision repair and tested and rated the car in such a way that I felt very confident of my decision. The price was right too. Joel and his team made sure that my family and me were taken care of after we hit a deer coming home from my Mothers funeral. Can t recommend these guys any higher. Timely updates, great communication and fair and honest pricing. Use this company. I live in Wahoo, NE and I will only use them for repairs!

I literally had my Subaru towed with miscellaneous parts that had been removed in a box. I picked up the vehicle on January 4, 2021. Seven months later I'm still thrilled every time I get in the car. I was updated on the progress, unforeseen cost and any delays in locating parts. At no time did I have to initiate a call. They are the guys to see if you are seeking honest, reliable repairs by master mechanics.

Called for a headlight bulb replacement. Joel suggested stopping in. The "books" and YouTube suggested pulling front end off 06 Buick. Stopped in, Joel got it in right away. Didn't take front end off. Replaced bulb. No charge! Best bunch of honest guys out there. I'll definitely be back (hopefully not too soon!)!

Joel is the owner and he does a great job. My husband and I took my PT Cruiser to him and he was honest with us about what needed to be fixed. I am able to go without my husband to pick up the car or drop it off and I know that I am not being cheated because I am a woman. He stands behind his work and charges fair prices. We recommend him and his "dirty hands crew" to anyone who wants an honest mechanic to work on their car.

All I can say is that here......Customer Service and Honesty Still Matter!! Joel & Bob took great care of me & finished my truck before the promised time. They also saved me from literally paying twice as much at the local Dodge Dealership in Billings! Thanks again. I HIGHLY recommend this place!

These guys are great. They treat you kindly and professionally. I took my Nissan to the dealership and they quoted a HUGE ($800)price tag for a repair that these guys did for a fraction of the cost($250). I will always take my cars here. Truly HONEST guys.-- Heather L. Billings, MT

When you re on a 5k mile road trip and your BMW fuel pump fails, you pray you ll meet a guy like Bob and his team at Auto Tech. Quality, fast, professional service and reasonable cost. Thx AAA for the great recommendation.

Joel and everyone at auto tech has been super to me... I am not a local. My car broke down on memorial day weekend and he was super busy and squeezed me in. They even called to make sure i had a ride to get it because all their loaner cars were out. He is honest and good prices. Its the only place that works on my vehicle.

Auto Tech took such great care of me when I was looking to buy a car! They gave me their honest opinion of the car and I knew I could trust them! I would reccommend Auto Tech to anyone who is looking for a reliable, trustworthy mechanic. I will always take my car here!

Even if they are the last repair shop in Billings, do not go here. I had purchased a used pickup and did not know the history of it so I took it to these guys based off of a referral. I told them I would like them to go through it bumper to bumper, I wanted to make sure this vehicle was safe as I have two small children. I told them there was this noise that concerned me, I walked the guy out to listen to it, and I mentioned that it sounded like the timing chain. He assured me he would look into it. When I went to pick it up, I asked about the noise and was told it just the sound a pickup makes. Growing up around pickups my whole life and having heard that sound before, I knew right then and there even if there was something wrong with my pickup I did not want them touching it. I took it somewhere else, the guy walked out to my pickup and with just a listen he said it's the timing chain which is common on this year of pickup. Once he got in there and made all the repairs that Auto Tech should have caught in the first place, my pickup runs great and I feel confident in driving it again with my children in it. Oh and yes it was the timing chain making that noise.

Will never be back to auto tech specialist, took in for a coolant leak and too look at 4x4, 1700 was told vehicle was fixed and to come get, being single mom of three thats alot of money. They replaced water pump,thermostat and ac hose and acuator ok thought all was good, couple days later noticed same leak, opened hood to find no coolant in overflow, called to get back in, thinking shoot 1700 the problem should be fixed. No this time I dropped car off at 830 am no call or anything til 4 pm when I called to find out what was going on, was told suv will be done in 5 mins, I said ok what did they do? He said I dont know what they did it will be done, I get there and was informed now radiator needs to be replaced, it is seeping so they put stop leak in n gave me an estimate on how much that will cost more on top of the 1700 I just payed, which never once did my radiator leak n if thats the case why didnt they fix that when I replaced all this other stuff that did not need to be replaced!! I finally took it some where else n was informed I basically got ripped off, n radiator was clog n the stop leak made it worst n totally made it to where I couldn't even drive til I got it fixed, will never ever be back!! Wish I would've taken some where else!

I would recommend staying WAY away from Auto Tech Specialists on 68th and King. I had a really bad experience with them. They took more than a week to repair our ignition (turns out it was because the mechanic who was working on it went on vacation, and no one else knew what he was doing with it), and they would NOT give us a loaner car, even though the ''About Us" section of their website promises one. Then they burned us with an extremely high bill, even though we ASKED for an estimate first. Then the car died as we were driving it off their lot. They got it running again, but I will never go back there again.

I brought my Duramax in and they got the repairs done two days ahead of expected and they did a fantastic job. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs automotive repair gas or diesel.

Charged $734.38 to replace fuel pump. Average repair shop in Billings charges $337.00 for same service. Average dealership only charges $525.00.$400.00 more than the average repair shop charges is not just excessive it is obscene.
