I moved to Wentzville a little over 2 years ago and was nervous about finding a good mechanic in the area. I'm not worried any more. They took great care of my car. They were honest and efficient. I'm taking all my vehicles there now.

I was referred here by my sister in law. They were great at first good customer service. Dropped my car off for a check engine light misfire, they advised it wouldn t start. They claimed to have checked the starter it was the issue they claimed to have put a new starter on. They advised they couldn t recreate the misfire issue gave it back within the week check engine light back on a few days after car not starting. I take it back spending another 200 for tow they get it started , claim they can t recreate the issue we pick it up check engine light is on. They tell my husband it could be the lifters and rockers which they assured last time it wasn t says it s a cylinder 5 misfire. They never called to advise of the diagnosis or to offer to fix it they tell my husband to pick it up. They seem to be great people but not always honest they don t communicate very well. I had a bag in my car with goodies in the arm rest , I find it near the battery under the seat empty. Of course they denied seeing or touching it.

Don t ever go to this shop. I spent close to 10k for a new engine in my dodge van. It took them almost six months and the van was in worse shape then when I left it. I had thrown a rod thru the engine block and the told me they would put a new jasper engine in. Well if they did they definitely lied about it, because even the owner, Mike, said that a new engine shouldn t have been able to have the heads leaking oil. When I showed up to pick up the engine there was not a drop of oil in it (they told me it was because the heads weren t secured) and there were pieces from the exterior missing and further damage to the inside. All that being said, I have spent near another 10k to have it properly fixed by a reputable shop. I have reached out to Mike since and he refuses to acknowledge anything of wrongdoing. I would avoid at all costs save your troubles and go literally anywhere else

Had a vehicle in for service, asked about having a muffler I bought installed by then while they already had it. Fast service was performed at a great price! The guys that work there are very friendly and service oriented! When I picked up my car it was after hours, they have little lock boxes in the front door that they change the code randomly for each customer! Definitely make it ready to pick up your vehicle. While getting my keys, even though it was after hours on a Friday and they had closed up one of the guys came out to make sure everything was all good! I will definitely check with them first on anything I need. And definitely recommend them to anyone needing work done. Give them a chance to earn your business for life!!!

Another shop told me they couldn't figure out what was wrong with my AC. It's too hot for that nonsense.Compare got it fixed fast. The service was more affordable than what other places charge for an AC recharge.Highly recommend.

They lost my business now. Brought my truck in late October for safety and emissions. It passed safety failed emissions. I didn't have time to look at it until the end of November. I brought it back December 3rd. This time it passed emissions failed safety. How can it pass safety and then a month later fail safety? They Wanted $1,100 to fix. Took it to a mechanic. None of the issues they said it had were real. My truck is at 57k. There's no way it needs ball joints. Just left another shop. There is no exhaust leak. It does not need ball joints. Passed.

Needed a new ignition for my monte carlo. Called them Tuesday and was able to get it worked on Wednesday. Picked up Thursday. All done for a fair price. Timely and professional manner. Everyone I had any contact with was polite, friendly, knowledgeable. So glad my neighbor referred me to them. Will certainly recommend them and use them in the future.Service: General repairs & maintenance

They got me right in and diagnosed the van, repair costs were more than I was expecting, but they needed to be done. My car AC suddenly gave out. I called five shops in Lake STL and Wentzville and all said "maybe next week". I'm a senior and driving in a 100 degree car is not an option.I recalled having my exhaust replaced by Compare about five years ago and so I called them. Joe said they were swamped but also said "bring it in".Long story short: in only two hours my AC leak was fixed, the system recharged and I was on my way with only a $150 charge. I couldn't have been happier.Compare is tucked away behind Harbor Freight so it's not typically a shop you're going to pass by. It's also not a shop with a big glossy lobby, guys in red or yellow uniforms and an expensive location.But it is the one no nonsense auto shop that will keep my business.Service: Air conditioning

I was truly impressed with how they took care of me. I had to run out of town so I dropped the car off hours earlier than my appointed time. They called me before I got home saying it was finished. I was amazed. I'll be a return customer.

This has been my go to auto shop for almost 20 years. Car repairs are never cheap so it's important to me to have someone I trust and I have that with Compare. They have always been top notch with communications. I trust what they tell me. We've taken cars there before where we were told repairs needed to happen and they disagreed. They don't just "find" issues to charge the customer. Made an appointment 2 weeks in advance of the 12/5/22 appointment, dropped our 2013 traverse off the night before, called at noon the day of, they stated very unprofessionally that they hadn't gotten to it yet, I say ok I'll be there before 5 to pay for it and get the keys, person on other end of phone says ok. I called at 4:45 and asked to speak to the owner who got on the phone and said that they did not get to it. I told him I'd had the appointment for two weeks. Why was there a problem and nobody had notified me and he said well I don't know I've got more work than I can do. He clearly cares nothing about his customers! SAD I would have given negative stars if it had been available.Service: Wheel alignment

Awesome people there felt comfortable right away, I will go to them again. Service was outstanding if my insurance company would let them know that they sent my check my motorhome would of been done earlier, I had my cadiladic converter stolen and my mechanic told me about this place, so I know it's a honest place. My motorhome sounds like a purring cat again. Not hard to find either.

Compare has taken care of my 2008 Saturn and my 2015 Class A motorhome for the last couple of years. They have always given me great service. Called to see if they had time to change a water pump today. They unlike other shops in Wentzville said they would at least try. Today these guys showed exceptional service. Bob the owner is great! Very reasonable pricing and they almost always get it right the first time in. Not to mention Mechanics Jim and Mike I believe are their names. Finding s good mechanic can be a difficult task, but Compare Automotive has never done me wrong. I want to mention that if you choose to get a few different estimates, chances are they will be the cheapest price with top notch work. I can't say enough good things so we'll leave it at that.

My truck went in for a wheel alignment, they quoted a list of things needed replacement. My husband is a mechanic and replaced the parts. We took it back for the alignment and they found something else wrong. We had them fix it. When paying for it they charged$12.00 to use the bank card, no sign anywhere stating that. My husband has used this business for years it's sad it's become a rip off to customers.Service: Wheel alignment

John is so honest and caring!! He has taken care our a couple of our cars (repeatedly) and has always gotten them done in a reasonable amount of time and always a decent price!! I also had a minor medical urgency, John took control and took care of me. He wouldn t let me leave or drive until I was feeling better! So considerate!!! The guys working in the garage are knowledgeable and get things done in a reasonable amount of time!! Thank you guys so much!!!
