Everybody at Glen & Jim s is so kind and helpful. I ve been coming here since I first started driving, and before that, I remember coming here with my dad. My family has always brought our cars here. I m comfortable coming to this auto shop as a young woman, and unfortunately that can t be said for many auto shops in this area. They always explain what they ve fixed in terms that actually make sense, and they answer all of my questions. All of the staff is genuinely so nice. They are also incredibly quick! There s many reasons my family and I keep coming back time and time again.

Glen & Jim's offered great availability and a swift turnaround time. The staff was knowledgeable and communicated well. However, I found the $257 charge for applying some fluid on the mass airflow sensor and tightening two bolts on a previously installed aftermarket air intake to be unreasonable. The other prices seemed fair. I regret not paying closer attention to the quote, but I was in a hurry.

My wife took her Mazda because it was making a weird noise. This place was recommended so she took it as it was close to her work. She needed one of her front wheel bearings replaced. They kept it over night, next day, called said it was done. She picked it up but noticed her wheel locks were all damaged. She went back to confront them and at first they couldn t find them. Then basically told her they weren t going to pay for them. So after spending almost $800 for replacing her wheel bearing she had her wheel locks damaged by them and they would not replace a $25-$50 part. So won t be returning. The original owner would have taken care of her, Glen. Been to NS y automotive shops, most of them know what a wheel lock looks like. Apparently not these idiots!

We choose to bring our sons car to Glen & Jims for a quote for a new transmission based on the positive reviews and feedback here. After dropping the car off overnight we were quoted for a new transmission that was larger priced than a local Ford dealership had quoted us in the last 24 hours. Unfortunately, the car's value wasn't worth the cost to replace the transmission, so we decided not to proceed with any repairs. I dropped off my wife to pick up the car today and she was presented with a $70 invoice which was promptly paid. I want to make it clear that at no time during my calls and conversations with Glen & Jim's staff, was there ever any conversation, that there would be any associated costs for a simple repair quote! It's not about the seventy dollars. It's about integrity and honesty and the lack thereof so we do not recommend this business.Scott A. Mehaffey

We took our son's car here to have the thermostat fixed. They did good work and the car is fixed, but I do feel we got charged slightly more than necessary.I called and made the appointment and told them I needed a new thermostat installed. I was working, so my wife and son dropped off the car. Apparently, due to their lack of a proper system to track appointments, the exact request got lost (my wife said they simply had our name written on a piece of paper on the counter). Rather than just doing what I asked when making the appointment, they ended up doing a diagnostics on the car to determine what was needed. This didn't actually turn up anything though because I had cleared the computer code when diagnosing the problem before making the appointment. Only after calling and telling them again to change the thermostat did they actually do the requested work.I felt like the diagnostic charge was simply a way to charge more money for the job than what the shop labor book says for the repair.Now, I imagine their response will be along the lines that they need to diagnose the problem to ensure they replace the correct parts. I can understand that; however, I already knew what was needed. Even if I didn't they should still honor a direct request to do a specific repair (or tell me when making the appointment that they won't).At the end of the day, the new thermostat fixed the car and it has been running fine since we got it back. They did a good job with the work they performed and it was completed on schedule. So, five stars for their work but minus one star for what feels like an unnecessary extra fee.

I've been using another automotive service company for years but their price keeps going up and the quality of work keeps going down so I thought I'd try a new company. I am so glad that I did! Glen & Jim's was fast, thorough and honest! I ended up taking my second car there because of how great they were on the first one.

I was told by Randy Reed that my upper ball joints were needing to be replaced. I took the truck there to have a recall on the airbags addressed. They quoted me the price to be 1k for the ball joints. The fine folks at Glen & Jim's quoted me the fair price that was about half that of the dealership. Come to find out Glen & Jim's saw that there was no need for the ball joints to be replaced in the first place. It's really a breath of fresh air to know that there is an honest and fair shop I can trust my vehicle's service needs in the future. Thanks again and I hope I don't need your help any time soon but I know where I'm going without a doubt if I do!

VERY helpful with any of my car's issues. They work quickly, but only to the point of getting it right (which really matters with car repairs; get it right, but do it quickly. That's exactly how they are). Very friendly, very thorough. If something isn't a huge issue, but will definitely become one of it isn't fixed soon, they will still let you know so you can tell them "fix it now" or "ok,I don't have the money right now, I'll need to make an appointment in a couple weeks to get it fixed." Some places just fix what you ask for and go on; others push it on you even when it's not serious. Hopefully that's a great explanation. I found this shop when I first moved here last year, and I've appreciated everything they've done for me since that time. Definitely recommend them.

Such a great shop with fair pricing and very experienced mechanics! Highly recommend for any work you need done on your vehicle. They also have warranties on some the work they did on my car (24,000 miles or 2 years) which says something about the work they do-I ve never found a mechanic that has a warranty on their work.Woman owned and I m here for that!!Services: Steering & suspension repair, Brakes, Oil change

Literally wouldn't trust anyone else. Seriously--I even take my car here for routine oil changes even though it's out of the way. They consistently go above and beyond with repairs and Nannette does a great job of explaining to me what they did/need to do in a way that I can understand and without making me feel stupid. They've squeezed me in during some desperate times and have given me and my old car lots of grace :) They are trustworthy, reliable, and efficient. I can't say enough good things. The best of the best!!!

It has an old school, small town, vibe to it. I like it.I went in for a front end alignment and they took care of everything I needed.I felt better about all my concerns due to their thorough inspection and the follow up explanation.I paid $129 for the alignment and inspection. It was slightly higher than other places, but the drop off was easy and the work was done right.I would definitely go back.

I left my car at my grandmas for about a week and a bunch of field mice chewed through EVERYTHING. Every light was on in my car with a strong odor of gas. I'm usually very hesitant about who I take my car to for repairs especially with the amount of damage my car had but I will never go anywhere else after this! Within 48 hours they had already fixed everything electrical and it only took a week (including the part being shipped) for them to remove and replace my fuel tank. Their prices are also very fair! They're amazing and most importantly I trust them! Also, the lady at the front desk was very empathetic and sweet! I appreciate everyone there! Thank you!Service: Electrical repair

I m disappointed that they aren t doing oil changes like they used to! I ve been going down there for 10-15 years and now they.. their own words We have bigger fish to fry they give you the option for appointments from 7-8:30 am and NOTHING BEYOND THAT ! Well I work pt in the morning s and afternoon s transporting an autistic kid to and from school so that time doesn t work for me I always was very happy with their service but when they tell you that you re not worth their time and energy and accommodate your schedule Then it s time to move to a company that doesn t have a problem accepting my moneyServices: Air & cabin filter replacement, General repairs & maintenance, Oil change

I am the father of a young adult that recently moved to the Parkville, MO area. Being 4 hours away, it is always a concern that she has good reliable transportation and a good auto repair shop available. Shortly after moving there, I looked up several auto repair shops in the area and decided to have her look into Glen and Jim's. From the first time that she visited, I could hear in her voice, the comfort that she had in this business. The two ladies working the front desk have gone above and beyond to make her feel this way. They are truly valuable assets to the business, but I am sure I don't have to tell you something you already know. They never talked down to her as if she knew nothing about cars (even though she doesn't know much) but instead was more than willing to explain the process that they were going through to correct the issues that she was experiencing. As a father, it gives a little more confidence in society to know that there are still businesses that have maintained the true meaning of service with a smile and run a company that demonstrates integrity and offers a great value to their customers. I consider Glen and Jim's family part of our extended family and thank you for taking care of our daughter's vehicle.Services: Tires, Electrical

I needed a new tire in a hurry. They made a special trip to find the right size and installed it on my car in less than 1 1/2 hours. I was so appreciative! There were 2 other customers picking up their cars as I waited, and they also seemed pleased with the work that was done and the cost. I will definitely call them the next time I need a car repair.

I recently bought an old used car that needed a lot of work done. I gave these guys a call after having a bad experience at another shop. They were honest, knowledgeable, and professional with the service they offered me. They diagnosed my problem and fixed it quickly. Not super helpful. Just wanted to get a pcm programmed but they won t do it unless they sell me it and install it . Crazy.Jokes on you I had one shipped in at a somewhat steep cost preprogrammed and it s been working since about a week after I left this review. Just because you think you know better doesn t mean you do. I literally needed my vin recoded to a ecu so it would run my truck. But you guys were lousy help and continue to patronize and misunderstand that not everyone doesn t know what they re doing. I just needed access to one of your computers and software and I could of done it myself. 100$ in your business pocket for 10 mins of work. What a joke.

It was a pleasant experience and a professional staff. Their waiting room is not the most luxurious you're ever going to visit, but it's a place to wait. They have a very large open bay which is easy to look into and they welcome customers to go and speak with the techs and see the work being done. Their prices aren't the greatest but if you've done your homework... you can negotiate prices for multiple tires. At the end of the day... they provide a variety of services to manage car maintenance. The only issue I had with my visit was that I made an appointment for 4pm and my car didn't get INTO the bay until closer to 5.

I made an appointment for a tire alignment which they said would cost me $79.95. I dropped my car off to them so they can do the alignment and 1 hour later the receptionist calls me back and gives me a whole list of things that need to be fixed on my car and also stated my oil needed to be changed (I never asked them to check my oil or anything else but the alignment) and then gives me a total of $1100. She proceeded to tell me there was no reason to fix the alignment if I still have all these other issues that needs to be fixed. It seemed like if I wasn't going to fix everything that they recommended with them then they wouldn't do the tire alignment at all. I stated to the receptionist I would come and pick up my car but she insisted that they change my oil because its bad on the motor and etc. I agreed for them to change it since my car was already there, she said she would call me back when it was finished. She called me back again and told me the drain plug for the oil needed to be replaced because they couldn't get it to go back in (I've had my oil changed plenty of times and never had an issue with the drain plug until I took it there). So finally I go and pick my car up and the total is $105. They charged me for a tire alignment CHECK, standard OIL change and a drain plug which was not what I went in there for AT ALL. I looked at the itemized list of everything they "Recommended" and on the list of what was recommended "Tire Alignment" was listed, which is what I originally went in there for. I felt like they took advantage of me because I'm a woman and I don't really know much about cars. I will not go back there or recommend them to anyone

My vehicle overheated after leaving their shop. The owner was rude and not at all sympathetic or willing to make things right. She told me to drive it back in! (with no coolant in the radiator)which they had drained. They informed me it was replaced and that it was just an "air bubble" that was pushed to the thermostat causing it to malfunction which is typical. The mechanic whom came to my aid while broken down on the side of the road was comforting, apologetic and sympathetic. The owner again was completely unprofessional. After the (2 gallons of coolant) "bubble" was filled the owner told me it was normal and expected once again. I suggest taking your business to someone who cares about the safety of your family and the investment of your vehicle.

I've never met a more honest and adept group of mechanics. Jim was great from the very beginning, Nannette was friendly and you could tell values her work and customers, and Ryan was also amazing and so skilled and completed the work very quickly. I'll never hesitate to call back for any needs.

DON'T GO HERE FOR AN INSPECTION!!! - I called to schedule an appointment for a vehicle inspection. They said they don't take appointments for inspections because "we don't make money off those." Instead they said come in at 8am since that's the best time to catch the inspector. The next day I took time off work to be there at 8am. I tell the employee I need an inspection. He said "we've got too much going on" and "it's gonna be a couple hours." The store was completely empty. No customers. No cars in the garage. I asked "you really can't spare 5 minutes for an inspection?" His reply: "It's not a priority" because "there's no money in it." They made me late for work for no reason. It's good to know Jim's Discount Tire and Brake only values their customers based on how much money they stand to earn. I'll be happy to let the Department of Revenue know this inspector is NOT doing their job.

Picked up my car from Glen's yesterday, I needed a new water pump and an oil change.The water pump had just gone out of warranty, but Glen didn't charge mefor the new part just the labor. Car was done same day. I've been using Glen's Automotive for the past 12-15 years and never felt I was overchargedor felt taken advantage of because I am a woman. He's always been fair to me.
