Have been using Hancock's the last few times we needed a mechanic. Dennis keeps us informed of what they're doing on the vehicle. The last time our car was in the shop he seen the battery wasn't strapped down and fixed that as well. It's friendly, honest, reasonably priced, and trustworthy service.

Handcock Automotive is a treasure, freely gives prudent advice with highest knowledge and experience ,on any vehicles you consider buying or maintaining .Put priority on customers need. Repairs are done well over the 10 years and 5 vehicles taken to Denise's shop.

Dennis is as honest as the day is long, and anyone who says he isn't is mistaken. He is one of 2 shops that I use for most things I cant fix myself. It may not be the cheapest shop in town, but if you want it done correctly and in the time period you were told, this is the place to go.

Dennis and his staff are very knowledgeable and experienced. While I like to work on my own vehicles, when the job exceeds my mechanic skills or specialty tools, I can definitely depend on Hancock Automotive to make the repairs. Scheduling service is usually within a day or two. The repairs are done right and the cost is reasonable. This is the only automotive service shop I use.

2 years ago I had to get a new crankshaft sensor for my Kia and I took it to Hancock s. After a week they called and told me it was ready and that the part and labor was $800. A month and a half ago the same part went out again. Luckily is was under warranty so I took it back to the shop and they warranted out the part for me. This time is was $400 to fix it and that was just for labor and my check engine light is still on. When we called and asked about it he said it s a sensor making that happen and they just need to fix it since it s an old code. Why they didn t do that while they still had the vehicle I don t know and he wouldn t answer. Come to find out 2 years ago Dennis waiting around for 8 hours to see if my check engine light would come on and my car to die like it had done to me previously. Luckily (I guess) this time he only sat around for 4 hours. He also told me that my 4wheel drive switch wasn t bad but I needed to get it fix and that would cost me another $400. The switch is only $70 and he d check the box it sits in for me but again that ll be another $200 to look at it!!! If you have the option to take your vehicle somewhere else do so or you ll be paying his incredibly high daily wage to sit around and wait for your vehicle to mess up!! Worst experience ever!!

What is surprising to me is that there aren't more bad reviews! This place charged me $297.00 for a serpentine belt and repairing a vacuum hose on my 1997 jeep Cherokee. What a rip-off. I will never go back!

This was the absolute worst experience at a repair shop that i have ever had! I came in for a Missouri State Vehicle Inspection and my car passed inspection but the owner of the shop had a whole list of repairs that my car needed. He wouldn't take no for an answer, he "the shop owner" kept telling me that my car would leave me stranded if i didn't fix these problems. By the way about $800.00 worth. I finally left and i have since went to three other shops with the list and all three said that it didn't need any of the repairs that was on the list!!! What a crook that guy was at hancocks , he was just trying to rob me. Don't go to this shop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Told me honestly there is no one in this area except for Rover Dealership that can hook up obd controller for diagnostics. Kansas City is closest option as Joplin had none as of this time; did not charge me for this advice

I was very sad to read the fake negative reviews posted below by posters to cowardly to even leave their real names - let's face it - how creditable is a review posted by someone calling themselves "Harry Ballsitch" It is interesting that all of these fake reviews were posted at the EXACT SAME TIME - Hmmmmmm. That said - I have used Dennis to repair 2 of my cars - a 2000 Impala and a 1977 Mercedes. He went above and beyond when repairing the Impala. It had an intermittent problem where it would die without warning. Instead of throwing parts at it, Dennis was very patient with it - even driving it for a week (paying for his own gas) until he found the problem and was able to fix it correctly and at for the lowest price possibleNext he tackled my 1977 Mercedes 450 SEL (a car that no other mechanic in the area was able to fix) and was able to get it running perfect in a week.I recommend Dennis to anyone - it is a rare thing to find a truly honest mechanic

This place gave the biggest reaming i have ever had and they didn't use VASOLINE. They threw every new sensor that my pontiac ga has on it and still didn't fix it. They tried to charge $1000.00. I told them to take off the new parts and give my car back. The owner got real mad and told me that i needed to take my car to the junk yard. They still charged me $200.00 for their time for a car that wasn't fixed.DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE!

Dennis Hancock has went above and beyond when working on my very difficult vehicle. I can honestly say I wouldn't know what to do on the projects where I can't do it myself.
