This shop doesn't want your business. Unless they can take you for $1000, they're not interested. You can literally go ANYWHERE ELSE in Kansas City and get work done for less. Do yourself a favor and pass this place up.

Kind of surprised that the reviews aren't higher here. I've always had great experiences... never felt like I was getting fleeced or sold things I didn't need, always felt like work was done correctly, and have always been impressed with the customer service. Ray, the owner is understanding about costs and has never tried to sell me something I don't need, and he is very clear about what things he think can wait for a while but telling you to keep an eye on them. Seems like a very nice guy. Been going here for years, and have never once felt like I needed to get a second opinion, or like work wasn't done correctly.Services: Electrical, Brakes, Auto tire replacement, Auto maintenance, Auto brake replacement, Oil change

Super disappointed in this place. For being a reputable place that many many recommended, they tried to WAY overcharge me for not only things my car doesn t even need replaced, but about $4k over what a new a/c compressor would have actually cost. Ended up charging me $200 for a diagnostic check, which is fine, but the last $200 this place will ever get from me and anyone I know.Needless to say, get a different opinion before letting this place have the okay to do anything to your car. Trying to scam a new female customer, wish I could say I m even slightly surprised.

I had a good experience here. Had a thief try to get into my car and only succeeded in ruining the driver's side door handle and lock system. Took my vehicle here to have them do the work of disassembling my door, removing the window, and reconnecting the door handle lock system. The total cost for all services was $350, which was more than reasonable. The work done was quality. I will use this shop again should I have a need.Service: General repairs & maintenance

Ray and his team are THE best. I just really appreciate a car place that doesn't make women feel stupid, nervous or vulnerable in any way. Ray has always just put me at ease, and does a good honest job at the various repairs and tune-ups he's done for our family vehicles. Great communication. Great prices. Ray and Melissa were nice from the start. This was my second time going to this shop and I am very pleased with the work done on my wifes Ford Focus. They put the alternator in quickly and informed me in detail about my car and what needed to be done. Ray was honest with me about price from the start and he didnt break our bank. Ray was extremely easy to work with. They figured out what was wrong with my car in a short amount of time, and got it fixed in a timely manner. I figured it would be an arm and a leg for the work that I need it done but they were actually very reasonable! Ray really took care of me today at Peak Performance. Took my van in to get a Missouri inspection cringing at what the cost would be for some of the other repairs I was looking for a quote on. Ray worked out a wonderful deal for me to help me not only afford the costs, but explained everything for me in a way I could understand as a non car person. When he noticed my cylinder was misfiring he offered to run diagnostics. Instead of trying to just take my money and fix it, Ray went out of his way to call a Chrysler dealership to check if my issue was still covered under warranty. Sure enough it was and he gave me their contact information and sent me on my way. A real honest business man right here who takes care of his customers and looks out for them. I cannot thank Ray enough for doing what he did and going out of his way to help me out, a complete stranger, just because I am a customer. What a wonderful business owner. I will continue to use Ray and his services for all of my car repair needs! I highly recommend him!

Ray is fantastic. He's kind, honest, and professional. I've seen his shop many times during my morning commute to work and when I began having trouble with my car starting, I looked his shop up and he had such good reviews that I chose to contact him.I emailed him, and he contacted me early Monday morning. This works really well for me as I typically have to be at work by 7:30 AM. He opens very early. I arrived at the shop later in the morning, and it was clean, well kept, and he remembered who I was and what I'd called about.We went out to my car, and I explained that I needed to get my car running again (there was some issue with the battery or electrical panel, and I don't know thing one about cars) because it was dying randomly and my husband had already tried working on it to no avail. I also needed to get my brakes worked on, and get a MO Safety Inspection - which i have no experience with as a prior Kansas resident. He assured me he would give my car a look over everywhere, and check out the electrical panel and battery especially well. He gave me estimates along the way that were incredibly affordable and fair.He personally drove me home so I didn't need to take the bus or wait hours for a ride - about a ten minute drive to my house. He stayed in touch with me that day, and I left my car overnight. He told me what I would need to have done to the car in the future, but did not push me to do it, he just informed me that it would be smart to have it done after this visit. He fixed my car, worked on my brakes, and did my MO safety inspection. The next day he offered to pick me up from my place of work - again, about 10 minutes from the shop, at rush hour - and brought me back to the shop so I could take my car home.There were no negatives to the experience whatsoever, and I say this with truth. Most of the time when I need to get my car worked on, there's a moment where I think "Oh no...I don't know what this person is talking about, but it's expensive and sounds important, I better do it." Not this time. He did tell me what I needed to have done, but he did what I could manage at the time and he did it for far less than I've been quoted before. He did it quickly and explained things well (like I said, I know not a thing about cars.) He was in contact with me the whole time my car was in the shop, anytime I had a question.He was extremely pleasant, professional, and friendly. I am so impressed after having poor experiences at many other auto shops and dealers. The experience was exactly what I was looking for. No fuss, he had it under control, and he was honest and extremely affordable. I couldn't be more pleased and I will be bringing my car back to him anytime it needs service. If I could give him five stars, I would.

I've been going to Ray at Peak Performance for close to 15 years. He has done work on three different cars I've owned and has always been great to deal with. For a small shop, he gets work done pretty quickly, the work is done well and the prices are fair. He is generally significantly cheaper than a dealer and equal or better than other small independent shops. If he finds multiple things that need work, he can help you prioritize repairs if you don't want to do them all at once. In my experience, he has always been helpful and gone the extra mile to make me a satisfied customer. Hard to find a reputable and honest businessman in the auto repair business and when you find a good one like Ray, you want to stay with him!

My experience here couldn t have been any better. I came in to get a tire leak fixed and my right headlight replaced. They were extremely accommodating and were able to get me in and out within 45 minutes. They do fast and reliable work. I also had the pleasure of chatting with Ray for a bit. He s a genuine person and I really enjoyed talking to him.Services: Tires, General repairs & maintenance

I just found this business card. My daughter and I were traveling in January of this year. Her car messed up and we were a long way from north Carolina. NOT ONLY DID THE OWNER HELP US, he was extremely proficient and fair in his pricing. I explained that we had been traveling from Denver and just wanted to get home without paying for another hotel room. In other words, we were broke. The owner stated to bring the car over immediately, walk a block down and have lunch, (best wings I've ever eaten), come back and the car would be fixed!!! He stated he also had a daughter going to college in another state and he would hope someone would help her also. Not only did he fix the car to perfection, not only did he give us a fabulous price, he took us immediately!!! I recommend this establishment to anyone coming through this state. My thank you, again, for the fabulous service!

I've been having my car repaired and maintained by Ray and his team at Peak Performance pretty much since they opened. They have helped keep my old Honda running in tip-top shape. From oil changes to brake work, exhaust and muffler repair and tire changes... Their prices are fair, and the work is done in a timely manner. Whatever work might need to be done, Ray lays it out for you clearly and in a straight-forward manner, which I appreciate. I whole-heartedly recommend them to anyone.

Twice I have been to Ray's place and he was very accommodating each time. I don't know what happened with the other reviewer below because that was not my experience at all.I've worked on my own car before - now I simply don't have the time or tools.Both times I went in thinking it was one thing, and it turned out to be something completely different. The great thing about Ray is that he seems to be excellent at diagnosing these issues.He is friendly without sugar-coating things and his prices are fair.My car is running like silk now. When you put hundreds of miles on the vehicle every week, that's a big deal.

Fair, Transparent, Fast, and Convenient.I was in a pinch with my car going down without warning. I recently moved in the area so needed to find something close knowing I may be on my feet or busing it for a while. I found Peak Performance online and made the call.Ray was able to get me in the next morning. A couple hours of diagnostics lead to a phone call to me to give me the breakdown. Ray was clear on what they found, walked me through what everything would cost step by step and what HAD to be done now, and what could be done later. I was very appreciative of his transparency regarding this process.Needless to say I picked my car up today and is running like a champ. Ray was very friendly and I was in an out in a couple minutes.I would strongly recommend this shop to anyone in the area.

Ray is a great honest guy, his quotes are fair and acurate. He does great work. Hes my favorite mechanic to go to. Im not going to pretend i know it all, but i got straight A's in my auto tech class in high school and im an avid shade tree mechanic. Ive always done my own work but there are some things i just dont have the ability to do or im not knowledgeable to do. I have trust issues when it comes to people working on my vehicles. I must say that Ray and the great folks at Peak Performance Auto have earned that trust. Ive even seen Ray just being a kind neighbor to an old lady who got a flat tire and who had cold groceries in her car. Ray got her spare on for her and had her all set really quick while he was in the middle of his work orders. Thats Kansas City love.Ray and Peak Performance Auto have helped me with my beater truck and getting it in great working order. Im very thankful for great quality work, honesty and a fair price. These guys are great in my opinion. As i write this review id like to give out my personal thank you. Thanks guys!

Came for a vehicle inspection and expected to wait for 30 minutes, but he was quick! That helped since I had my 3 kids with me. Ray is so nice and helpful. He has a great team at Peak Performance. I will definitely be back!

Awesome service! I love being able to take my Range Rover to a place that is so much more affordable Aristocrat. We ve always had amazing customer service and amazing car service. So glad Ray is so close to our house or we would have never discovered his shop!

I had the engine in my Honda replaced with a used one by Peak Performance. They ordered the engine and when it arrived they had it installed and road ready in about 2 working days. It wasn't cheap by any means but I wasn't looking for cheap, I was looking for somebody who knew what they were doing and I found them at Peak Performance. I'll be taking my vehicles there in the future for all my mechanic work. Ray is one of the good guys.

We got a diagnostic check done, new valve cover and gasket, new air filter, spark plugs replaced and other tune up related fixes. I paid for the $755 repairs/tune up and later that same day started driving 5 hours west to see my family. 2 hours into the trip the engine light was on alerting us that the oil pressure was low and to stop the engine immediately (a warning I have never seen before). We popped the hood and there was oil all over the engine and the engine was steaming. This put us in a horrible situation because we were 2 hours from home and it was 8:30pm. We were stranded and completely at the mercy of anyone that could help us. A good Samaritan who happened to be a mechanic stopped to help us. He took a look at the car and went and bought the valve cover gasket we needed and made the repair to our car in the parking a lot. If it wasn t for him we would have had to stay night in a hotel. He had to replace the ripped gasket that Peak Performance just installed in our car. I understand mistakes happen, but when we confronted Peak Performance Auto Repair they showed no empathy to our situation. This mistake left us stranded at night in a different town and could have ruined my engine if we had to drive on it any longer. After haggling him a bit he reimbursed us $125 for the part and labor. Which is fine, but like I said he had no empathy for the situation that his mistake put us in. He told us Please, don t come back. This was very disappointing because it was his error and I had a very pleasant conversation with him before when I paid for the repairs. I realize small businesses have been hurting since Covid-19 has happened and would have loved to give him more business, since we live down the street, but I would not recommend this auto shop because of the lack of care he showed us as customers.

Owner Hired New Mechanic (too many complaints)... basically got a tire patched next day tire was flat. Horrible experience

Ray was very professional, curtious, helpful and polite. I was in a bad situation with my breaks, i knew they needed replaced but didn't realize they where as bad as they where. They went from grinding a little bit to pretty much no breaks. I was at ward parkway mall when it happened with my 2 year old on a Fri at 230pm. I was freaking out, i had called everyone close by and noone could get it in til the next day or Sat. Execept Ray who was 1.1 mile away. I took it nice slow and easy and made it to him about 330pm. It needed nee rooters, pads, both front sides and front left caliber. He was able to get all the parts and work done by 5pm. And to top it off, i didnt have the money and he allowed my mom to make a 580 payment over the phone. If i was going to complain about anything it would be the price i thought was a little high but he did go above and beyond and my breaks are perfect now. Even tho the price is high i will return just because i believe he is honest and does good work

Came to get my car inspected and Ray was very upfront and honest about what the car needed for inspection, what else could be done and how we could get it all done in a way that wouldn't break the bank. He got it done the same day and did a great job. Thank you guys very much! I really appreciate you all! I'll be coming back for more maintenance.

I was recommended the shop by a coworker to get my rear wheel bearings replaced. Ray was very helpful and was able to get the service I needed quickly and at a great cost. I would recommend this shop to others in the future.

They left the cap off for my power steering fluid after an inspection. I called them asking to replace it, and they refused and put the blame on me. They said it would've been off before my inspection and then passed my car for inspection. Not sure if they didn't do the proper inspection or just don't want to replace it. Will not be going back either way and wouldnt recommend them to anyone.

I went in and my vehicle failed inspection. I called around for other quotes and was told one of the things I was failed for might not actually be something I could be failed on. I called to confirm why they failed me on that part, and before I could even ask the question he said it's on the receipt. When I tried to ask my question he again interrupted and talked down to me about how it's rude for me to call when he has other customers. If I were asked a bit more polite call back later I wouldn't have an issue. The fact that he interrupted me and talk down to me I feel was disrespectful.Service: General repairs & maintenance
