The team at fosters was very helpful with out vehicle, our transmission went out and they did a check on it to find out what was wrong and explained everything. We have decided on an alternate route in solving our car issue, but Fosters team was extremely helpful and if we need help again we will be returning.Service: TransmissionService: Transmission

We have been trusting Richard and his staff for years. Our daughter who lives out of state now will call and ask his opinion or advice. That is the kind of relationship you want with a mechanic.

I had my transmission fully rebuilt and upgraded on my 1999 Ram 3500. The work was fantastic and the people were friendly and helpful. I would recommend this shop and will definitely be a repeat customer for any transmission needs in the future.Service: TransmissionService: Transmission

They have taken care of everything I've taken to them, and I will keep having them fix whatever I tear up next. Highly recommend.

We had recieved a quote to rebuild a transmission over two years ago. We ended up not going with them due to some circumstances. Today (6-9-23) I went there because my transmission started to act up and I needed advice. They turned me away because they "don't play games" and apparently have enough business without us. Do not recommend. It's one thing to not want to help me because I didn't go with them the first time, but they do not need to be rude and nasty about it. Very unprofessional.

Baylee Stieferman and Cedar Deraps (C Paul)Baylee -Thank you for your review, it got us a new customer today because he said he agreed with how we handled your situation. What we told you was if you didn t trust our work last year to fix it for you, you won t trust our work this year and you should take it back to the shop that fixed it for you last year and tell them you are still having problems. We honor our warranty and usually go past it if we believe it was something we caused. We did apologize to you and explained that we are far behind with customers that have entrusted us. Richard was not rude. Just honest and upfront. It's a no-win situation for us to try to fix a job that another shop did.Sorry you are upset, but we take great pride in our excellent reputation and we want to have that trust upfront. Not after you're dissatisfied with another shop.Cedar Deraps (C Paul)It is a common misconception among Google warriers that a fluid and filter change will fix an internal transmission issue. It is a temporary fix to an imminent problem. Transmission fluid that has turned dark is caused by an internal issue and will only get you a few more miles. Richard has been doing transmissions for nearly 40 years - so he knows his stuff - and we ve seen it many times throughout the years. A 4-day wait for us to check your transmission is minimal - we typically run 3-4 weeks behind, so we do stay on schedule as much as humanly possible.Thank you both!

Our transmission went out over an hour away and I had it towed here on the recommendations of several people at work and within my neighborhood. Mr. and Mrs. Foster were very helpful and friendly. The team did a fantastic job working on our minivan and we're very happy with the results!Service: TransmissionService: Transmission

A few months ago my wife s 2014 Dodge Durango left us stranded on the way to Hermon. I had it towed to Foster s to have them look it over. After being there for 4 days they finally called me back and told me a transmission line had broke and it was shot. After quoting me a replacement for over $5000, which I declined. They charged me $50 for their professional opinion. I had it towed back home. I went online and bought a replacement line and filter pan. After educating myself with a few uTube videos I changed everything out. And here I am driving around 4 months later with no issues. Needless to say I am disappointed

Want in there to have my odometer read to register my car. They did so without an appointment and it was real cheap. Highly recommend the staff and services.

Excellent, excellent service! Took my Jeep by because I was told by a dealership that I had a radiator leak. Fosters found NO LEAK and saved me over $600 for something that didn't even need repair. Can't thank them enough! My husband has also taken his vehicle to Foster's and we had wonderful service then too.

Foster's Transmission recently serviced my 2003 Grand Marquis by changing the transmission oil and filter and charged less than their originally quoted estimate. They rebuilt the automatic transmission in my 1977 Silverado a year ago. I have been very pleased with them and have no reservations about endorsing them to friends, family and others.

Took my truck in to get a second opinion, and they told me it was fine, saved me money. Great service, had me ride with them to show me it was fine, they were honest and they didn't even charge anything. Would recommend anybody to come here instead of go to Columbia.

I will definitely do future business here if needed and recommend them to others. Dealership wanted a minimum of 180.00 to look at my car. Fosters did not charge me a fee to drive it and see what was causing the noise.

This place is awesome. They know what they are doing they give you a fair price. They will not tell you you need a transmission when you don't , they saved me thousands. I took my truck to them after someone told me my transmission was going out turns out it was the gears in the rear end. Thank you foster transmission. For saving me a lot of money.

Took my 400,000 plus mile Ford F-150 in for what I thought was a transmission problem. Turned out to be a sensor and tune problem. Fix quickly and at a reasonable price 1/3 of an other quote.... since the price was sooo good had them do the brakes shortly after... again great service!!!

Excellent service and work! Set an appointment and came in for a simple vehicle inspection, and was taken care of quickly. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful, and I was out the door in about 30 minutes.

I neglected my 1981 El Camino SS for years. I brought it in and asked to get me up to speed to pass inspection. The customer service was unforgettable. They really went out of their way for me and I have found my permanent repair shop. I cannot explain to you how my car drives now but I can say I cant stop smiling when I am behind the wheel. Transmission rebuild, suspension rebuild, engine work under the hood, even fixed my power steering and window motor. THANK YOU FOSTERS

A couple of summers ago, my Father and I went through the trouble of changing the clutch in my 2002 Hyundai Elantra. We laid on the hot August cement for nearly 8 Hours or so, sweating and fighting this clutch. It was done fast and dirty, we didn't clean the new clutch, it had our greasy hands all over it. We didn't torque any of the bolts to specs, and I am not entirely sure we even tightened some of the bolts. There were days I was driving along, and would hear a thump, and look in my rear view mirror to see if there was a bolt bouncing around on the street, and waiting for my car to fall apart.Well, it was no surprise that about 3000 miles later that clutch went down-hill, and it needed to be replaced. I called around Columbia, looking for a reputable shop, and getting quotes. I knew it was going to be a pricy repair, and we were getting $900 to $1200 quotes from some shops up here. I called down to Fosters Transmission in Jefferson City, and they quoted me $700 for a clutch repair; I will drive 50 miles to save $200, in a heartbeat. So I hauled my car down to Jefferson City, and they got to work on it, and in 2 days, it was done, and ready for me to pick up. They even had it finished quicker than any shop in Columbia said they could do it.I am writing this review after my initial "break-in" period of about 500 or so miles. For the first 150 or so miles I babied the clutch, but then I got a little aggressive, and may have glazed it a bit, and it started slipping pretty bad. I called up Fosters Transmission, and they were ready for me to bring it back in to take a look at it. That was un-necessary, as the next morning, all was well, and since then, the clutch has been great. This clutch has not caused me any problems since; The car has been driving great, and I feel that it has been money well spent. Thank you Fosters Transmission, you have a customer for life.

I have been going to Foster's for years for service and some minor repairs. This is the honest shop in Jefferson City as they will never try and up-sell or indicate anything more than should be done.

I usually go to Braun's but unfortunately nature intervened; so I went to Foster's and was impressed with their work and service. I would heartily recommend it.
