I had taken my vehicle in for a Geico claim. The shop was very professional and organized. When I called for an update everybody was courteous and they worked with Geico to completion (working with Insurance Companies is very overwhelming). I appreciated every part of the process that got my vehicle done. Everyone was professional everyone was respectful.For those that expect a quick turnaround, consider all the work that must go into repairing your vehicle. I felt the time they had My vehicle was adequate and responsible.

Since it s been 2 weeks that I ve gotten my car back and we ve made no progress on my broken windshield by phone, in person meeting or internal review - I figured it was time to post to Google. I was rear ended in December. Schaefer was my insurance appointed shop for repairs. Estimates went from $3000 initial, to $4000 in shop, to $6000 final. Thank goodness it was through insurance since visual quote only prepared me for half of what true cost would be. I dropped my car off Thursday, March 7th at 8am. I asked at drop off to make sure I would get updated about my car - I didn t want to lose contact with shop since it s an insurance claim. I was told by Ashley at reception they d update me weekly as my car is my baby so they do not only communicate with insurance after drop off. Wrong. Had to call myself Friday, March 15th around lunch and figure out what an 8 day update would be. Received a call back from Rick at 4pm who let me know repairs were all completed and I was 5th in line to be painted - I should have my car by mid to end of the following week! Fantastic! I let them know I had a work trip out of town starting March 26th and they assured me that s a week beyond what he just quoted me so I should definitely have my car for my trip. Into the following week still haven t heard anything by 1pm on Thursday, March 21st so I send a text asking for update. I get a response the following morning stating everyone in the office is sick and I m 4 in line to be painted. I let them know again I have a trip on the 26th and I get a super rude text response of Until you get a call telling you vehicle is complete, work is ongoing. I will not text you regarding completion unless I have to call and leave message. On my trip departure date, I get a text from the shop stating completion date is expected to be 3/29. At this point, I turn off text notifications to force phone call connection for car updates since I m getting a lot of mixed information. I get a call at 3pm on the 29th stating my car is ready for pick-up. I AGAIN explain I m out of town and cannot pick my car up until the 1st. Fast forward I pick my car up the morning of the 1st and take it to park it in a garage for the incoming storm that evening. Once I get it into a garage and under a light, I can see a major gash and crack in my windshield where the camera is located for assisted cruise control, lane keep assist, and other features. I immediately call the shop and they ask me to bring it in the following morning. I do so and they even show me intake pictures of a NON broken windshield and say it s pretty common for people to get their cars back and notice damage that s new to them that s actually been there the whole time. CRAZY! I watch my car like a hawk. They assured me they contact insurance and make this right. Wrong again. They tried to file an additional estimate onto my accident like it occurred then and not in their shop. Now it s 2 weeks later and I still have no answers and a broken windshield. I will never work with Schaefer again and I m so glad this isn t out of pocket or I d have a complete come apart.

Dealing with Schaefer was a breeze, the staff are friendly and professional, fixed my truck in a timely matter. I appreciate the text of the repair process. I appreciate how Rick walked me through how to care for the paint job. Definitely recommend using Schaefer Autobody

Very terrible communication on their side.I scheduled an appointment on end of September, to drop my car on early November.I called them the next week, they said my car was disassembled.Didn't hear from them for more than 3 weeks.Then I called again, someone else told me my car was not touched since they had been busy, so I went to get my car later.When I arrived, they told me my car was disassembled in the morning and now they had to order some parts.Didn't hear any update for another 3 weeks, I tried to call them more than 20 times, never had luck to reach my service writer.I was finally able to get my car after a month and half.I feel like the first 3 weeks they didn't touch my car at all, I really don't know what's the appointment is for.They at least remembered to charge the battery for me so I gave them a 2 stars instead of 1.So disappointed about their communication.

Schaefer Autobody went above and beyond to repair my car! A branch from a walnut tree fell on my SUV last fall. They were quick to get it in and assess the damage. They called me with each update from what parts were needed, to what parts were unable to be ordered (thanks COVID), and when repairs were started/completed. The repairs make it look like nothing ever happened. I got in my car to it smelling fantastic and was clean! They have great customer service and even cleaned the inside of my windshield. They also left a nice microfiber for me. These guys did amazing! Thank you Mac and the rest of your crew! 10/10!Services: Painting, Body & Trim

When I arrived at Schaefer, they were courteous and took the time to explain the process. The young lady at the desk was helpful securing my car rental to pick me up and to returning the vehicle. The technician kept me informed of the status of the parts and when my vehicle was complete and let me know that if there were any issues to reach out. I am nearing on 6 months waiting for calls back to complete the original work needing done (trim pieces) and they also damaged a light bar and a tail light on my truck and haven t received a call for these to be replaced either. They are angry over the phone and let me know they will call me when they have parts .6 months is insane. Going to give one more call to resolve then going to BBB.

I had some body work completed by Schaefer. They did a very nice job. And they were very professional. The whole time I got the feeling that it was important to them to do the job right. I would recommend.

Very professional. Took longer than they thought to get the parts, but kept us informed of the progress. Explained everything they needed to do. Did a great paint job and even cleaned the interior. Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience with this shop (the one located in Columbia, MO). We had used Schaefer in the past (the one in O'Fallon/St. Peters, MO) and was pleased with the work. The shop in Columbia was not good about returning phone messages and/or emails. The communication on the status of parts ordered and scheduling of actual work was very poor. I feel that if I hadn't gone there in person to ask why it was taking so long for our car to be touched (the car sat on their lot for 4 weeks from the appointment day that we had scheduled for work to begin) without any work being done that it would still be sitting there. Once the work was finally started (the day after I physically went in), it was completed in a timely manner.Service: Body & Trim

Schaefer was great to work with. They did body work to my front bumper and it looks like new. It took a bit of time to get in for an estimate and then the repair, but my car was still drivable so it was not a huge concern. Once they had the car they completed the repair in a timely manner and kept me informed as to when it would be ready for pickup. They handled everything with the insurance agency as well. Wish my overall experience was better as this was my first experience with an auto body repair shop. I took my car that had small rear bumper damage here based on my insurance recommendation. I wasn't told an estimate on how long the process would take, but also I didn't ask I just assumed it wouldn't take 2 business weeks to complete. The overall work done on the car looks good, you can barely tell a difference. Estimated time of completion was on time, based on the link to track progress that's sent through email.The only complaint I have would be the lack of communication with updates, as the website tracking is pretty vague on the status of your vehicle. I reached out 5 business days after dropping my car off and was told vague info and that the tech assigned to my car would call me back the following Monday with more details as he wasn't in the shop that day. Monday came and went and nothing. Called several times again Tuesday but no answer, so I left a voicemail asking for a quick call back for some kind of update, but again no one ended up calling me back. Called Wednesday and finally someone working the main desk answered and was able to ask the tech for updates, and confirmed that my car was still on track. I was told several times that they were busy which is understandable around this time of year, but a simple update can go a long way.Ultimately the work done to my car was completed when the tracking site stated it would be, but I just felt the communication fell flat personally. Which is even slightly more disappointing after reading so many google reviews on their great communication. They did top off my oil after the dash light indicator came on which was nice of them.Services: Painting, Body & Trim

Had an excellent experience from top to bottom! They made it easy to get my rental car from enterprise and even assisted me in contacting my insurance company. The work was done early and done great. I took my car in to get a dent in the bumper replaced. I highly recommend Schaefer for anything car related. They are wonderful, honest & trustworthy. They will do whatever is needed to get your car back to new. They are a hard working group of people! They handled all the back & forth with my insurance after I filed the initial claim. I never dealt with the claim again. They took care of everything. Brett & his crew kept me up to date on what was going on with my car, what to expect & answered all my questions along the way. I ve never filed an insurance claim to repair damage on my car before, and Schaefer Autobody made it SO hassle free for me! My car was in the shop for a week and a half for body repair and damage. I got email updates almost every other day, and repair was completed on time. My car looks BRAND NEW! Paint work was done amazingly well! Schaefer took great care of me after a deer hit my car! They were prompt and easy to work with and even finished my car a few days early. Terry checked in with me weekly, so I was always aware of the repair progress of my vehicle. Would definitely recommend!

The staff are very accommodating, special mention to Terry, very awesome for doing above and beyond customer service communicating with my insurance company as well making sure all things are checked in right. This is the second time I've taken my car to Schaefer. First time, after extensive damage caused by a hard hit to the rear-end. This time, to replace the seal around the driver's door.
