Took my sons car into them wasn t sure what was wrong thought it might be head gasket but to diagnose it for sure told them several times the car never overheated ( they say I said it overheated) was quoted a price to fix ($4500) I had them do other thing while the motor was out put $2200 down got the car back they found another problem they fixed paid $5436.19 ($2500 was extra stuff I had done) got the car back and within 24 hours it was running the same as when it went in took it back they fixed a couple other thing but said it still wasn t right they thought the computer needs flashed or the valves need adjusted so I asked since they just had the heads off won t that be on them they said no $737 and the car is off to Subaru to get looked at after diagnosis Subaru said the valves need lashed and it should of been done when it was put back together at Midwest and I have talked to another Subaru dealer and a couple mechanics I know who all said the valve lash should of been checked before reinstall. Midwest stills says no and Subaru is charging $3400 to fix what they say is Midwests mistake.UpdateAfter Subaru pulled the motor they found almost $1000 in damage to the motor that Midwest did to it and the car was out of time have pictures to prove it Midwest said the pictures don t prove anything. So after fixing all they messed up and finishing their job (6 other shops said they should of checked the valve lashing) thanks to Subaru the car runs good.Your response shows you don t listen to your customers, I wasn t driving the car back to Columbia, I live in Holts Summit. This coming from the guy who called me back to yell at me for arguing with the service manager who tried to tell me when you plain a head you don t remove any metal and I said that is the point in planning the head and then he tried to tell me not enough to make a difference, any amount is enough to make a difference and timing the car was part of the job you were supposed to do and the pictures clearly show it is not in time.

I was on the way to KC from St. Louis when a log on the highway cracked my radiator. A man at the gas station recommended me to Midwest Autoworx and I am very glad he did. They fit me in right away because they knew I had no where to go until the issue was fixed and set right to work. The price seemed quite reasonable, and they told us about another issue that our car was having that would need to be fixed when we got to back St. Louis, and showed us pictures of the damage. I recommend their service.

10/10 recommend! I was buying a car at a local used dealer and called Midwest Autoworx to have them do their Pre purchase 50 point inspection on my test drive. Kyle was great and said they would go over it with a fine toothed comb and told me everything I needed to know and printed it out. They were very polite and seemed happy to have my business. Their solid communication skills make them feel *very* trustworthy. Thanks Midwest autoworx!

If I even look at your vehicle, it's too difficult for them they just tell you to replace everything and especially motors and engines they sell them for a company so their first attempted to try and get you to buy a new one.

Stranded at 2:30am our radiator hose blew up in the middle of a road trip with our dog. We were able to get towed to Midwest Autoworx and the customer service was outstanding. They picked us up from our hotel, let us it with our dog in their lobby and got our car fixed hours ahead of the estimate. They also didn t try to upsell us or try to get us to do unnecessary repairs. They priced us fairly and went above and beyond. Kyle was nothing but kind and did everything he could to get us on the road and get our parts as soon as possible. I will never love breaking down in an unfamiliar place but these guys were just awesome! Will be hero s in our book forever!!!Service: Engine repair

I've had off and on problems with my traction control for at least over a year. The dealer could never resolve the problem. Midwest attributed it to the aftermarket suspension which the dealer never addressed. Problem solved and the Jeep drives better than it has in YEARS. Really a great place to take your vehicles for any type of service. We drive a couple of early- to mid-2000s vehicles, and Midwest Autoworx has been our go-to shop for repairs and maintenance.I know a little about cars and trucks, and not once have I felt I've been taken advantage of here. The service advisors are always straight shooters and don't oversell anything. I've talked to a few mechanics here and have been impressed by their knowledge and expertise. One of the great things about this place is that they honor their warranty work. My older Camry needed motor mounts, and we tried aftermarket parts. As it turned out, because of a design by Toyota, OEM parts were needed for these motor mounts. Midwest Autoworx installed the OEM parts at no extra charge and it worked out great. However, I don't think you'll need to utilize the warranty because they do a great job from the start.Overall, I'd say this is one of the top mechanic shops in central Missouri.Services: Steering & suspension repair, General repairs & maintenance, Engine repair

This place has been absolutely horrible to work with. We went in with the check engine light. They ran diagnostics and suggested a part that they believed would fix it. It did not; the check engine light came back on. I called up there talk to JJ who repeatedly said what do you want me to do about it to me and my husband and eventually ended up hanging up on me before letting me talk with a manager. I called back up there and talked with Ian on the phone who explained everything pretty well however, when the E light came back on and we were instructed to bring the car back for a third time, he stated that they knew exactly what was wrong, and then it would be another amount of money to fix it. My question is why was that not fixed in the first place if you already knew what the problem was, and why am I paying you more money because you fixed the wrong part? I understand that there s some trial and error but when you run a diagnostics on my car and you stated to me that you know what the problem was, you should ve fix what the problem was but instead you happily took $700 from us and then tried to obtain more. This was unprofessional and you waisted our time and money over something that was so minimal in the end.

I called Midwest Autoworx about a possible blown head gasket on my wifes car. From the start, they were straight up and honest with me with what their process would be, a very accurate price quote to repair it, and about when it would be ready. I had my wifes car towed there that day and they started on it the next morning. They called me to confirm it was a blown head gasket and kept me updated on what they was doing. I got a final call at the end of the week to let me know it was ready and that everything was fixed. My wife has been driving her car for a little over a week now and has no problems at all. I am very happy with the work that Midwest Autoworx did and they have for sure earned my business. I highly recommend them to anyone needing automotive work done.Service: Engine repair

I would not be fooled by how polite they are. I tool my jeep in last week for a fix up. (My jeep is I'm bad shape) they told be what was wrong and I gave them the okay to fix it.For some reason, after spending $800 to fix my vehicle, they somehow forgot to change the oil sticker and reset the meter on the sensor. Now, it may not seem much. But if I'm spending $800 I expect everything to be done correctly. The next day, I called and then they said I'd need a new water pump. Which would cost $600. I said that would be fine. I took the car back as I needed it for work. So i set a new appointment. Not only did the front wheel bearing somehow got loosened and the battery died. I called to cancel the appointment.I ended up taking it Joe Machined Chrysler. And in had them replace the battery and check to see if I needed the water pump replaced. Lord behold, there were no leaks coming from my water pump. And it was cheaper charge than this place. So, if you want good service and KNOW things are getting done right. Go to a dealership. In some aspects it may be more expensive. But curring corners. Is not okay. Especially with this place. They WILL try and scam you if you're ignorant about cars like I am.Thank you

They were super friendly and took my car in so fast! They were great and showed me exactly what was wrong with my car! They were very fast, my car was in and out of the shop within hours. I had a few services done and they gave me an estimate and broke down the cost of everything, which I really appreciated! My new go to auto shop, definitely recommend!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Brakes, Oil change

I went in for a simple inspection five days again. My car had been inspected only 6 months ago and passed. I came out of Midwest Autoworks with an $800 work estimate for a tiny power steering leak. My car has absolutely no symptoms of a steering problem so I know they lied. They even tried to convince me to get a loan to pay for the repairs and even recommended a business. It was ridiculous. My buddy was in there just yesterday and had an even worse experience. He went in and asked for them to repair his muffler and then give it an inspection. They did not do the work on the muffler. They gave him the inspection and then gave him a $700 estimate to change a belt. They tried to convince him that they were going to be in that part of the engine anyway so why not do this other $11000 repair because it will save him money later. These guys are the most friendly and sincere con artists that I have ever met. This is the bottom line. They are not giving inspections in good faith. They are charging people $12 to give them a repair estimate.

I've taken all of my vehicles here and had amazing service. Sometimes they're backed up but the piece of mind is worth it. I've had tons of service here from exhaust to struts to engine related work. They will warranty everything touched by them and back their service. 6 stars

I'm really happy with their service, always explaining to me what they need to do and giving me options. BMW wanted to charge me thousands of dollars to repair may SUV and they did it with a third of what BMW wanted. I'm a single mom and any penny counts. I recommend Midwest Autowox to anyone.

I had a great experience here. I brought my van in to be fixed and the guys did such a wonderful job making my daughter and I feel comfortable. They communicated very well about the work that needed to be done and showed me in detail. They didn't takd to long considering all that had to be done to it. I'm very impressed with the customer service here. I'll defiantly be going back!

They are hands down the best repair shop in Columbia! They really listen and care about what it will take to get you and your vehicle back on the road safely. They go over every repair needed, step by step, and you truly get your moneys worth from them. I highly recommend Midwest Autoworx!!!

It was terrible. We spent 300 dollars for 4 hours of a diagnostic just for them to tell me absolutely nothing. Then they asked for another 150 to keep looking but I needed to pay the 300 first before they would continue to look. They told me that if it gets too expensive then I can "just bring them up the title." I paid them immediately I had it towed to another shop in town that same day and the found the problem in two hours shop time. I felt completely disrespected and belittled. I asked if it was common practice for them to ask people to pay before the job is done or before they will continue a job. They said no "just when they think someone doesn't have the money to pay." I will never be played out of money by them again and I would absolutely recommend against doing business with them. That is no way to treat someone

It's always a hard time for me to find local places that work on hybrids cars, but I found this shop and now my car works better then when I first got it. They fixed it in a fair amount of time and always communicated with me if something changed. The reason I'm giving four stars and not five is because it sounded like communication between each mechanic wasn't quite there. Other than that, a good experience and will probably contact them if I have any future issues.

I would definitely recommend this place! I do not write reviews regularly. In this case it was a must! These guys did a fabulous job on my Envoy Denali!!On a mini vacation to see my daughter my car decided to lay down and have a temper tantrum! I noticed my oil gauge kept bottoming out and my car began to sound rough. I asked a couple people in Columbia where I should take it to be fixed & they all said MA.The moment I walked in everyone was great! They explained what was wrong and how much it could cost. They made sure I understood the process and did not talk at or down to me . They were completely professional and friendly. They ended up having my Envoy a little longer then I hoped and I definitely was nagging them a bit... they not only stayed friendly and professional; they really surprised me when they remembered I was about to be making a long drive out west. They wanted to be sure my car would not break down again and they wanted to make sure anything wrong was fixed. I promise you not all places care or even bother to think about where a customer may be going. When my car was done I was shocked the final bill was under their original quote and they guaranteed their work! In my experiences, it s rare for any business to give a written guarantee of their work. This really just put them over the top of places I would recommend. Not to mention, my car is running GREAT!!Regardless of what you need done to your vehicle- this should be your place Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic

As someone with issues on a cross country trip, even though they were extremely busy, they bent over backwards to do everything in their power to help me. Even to the point when my truck had to stay overnight to wait on parts, they made sure to give me a ride home, not taking no for an answer. Best service I have had in any automotive shop period. And I'm a mechanic myself for the past 15 years.

I needed a diagnosis for my vehicle to have it repaired. Midwest got me in really fast and provided the inspection. Knowledgeable, friendly and through. In any situation where I need to have a repair done not covered by warranty (at a specified shop) I will definitely be coming back. Friendly staff and honest people there! They did oil change for my car, I had a great experience and they took good care of my car. This was my second time there, the first time I was just randomly looking for an auto shop to do the idod for my car, then I found Midwest near the license office, a nice gentleman did it for me and also helped me copy some documents to get the license plate for my vehicle, all for free, I really appreciated. Actually I didn't even remember the name of this place whenI want to do the oil change for my vehicle but I am glad I found it according to my memory, and Midwest is just still nice as the first time I met it.

I can find something wrong with everything. I am one of those people. This place? They take their time. If you are in a rush, let them know UP FRONT! That said, they take their time because they are thorough. Their prices are reasonable and their work is excellent. I have seen these guys for years and have gotten 2 other chronic shop-around people to become regulars for those unfortunate times they need repairs and maintenance. I cannot recommend Midwest Autoworx enough. They are exceptionally honest, upfront, and skilled. Take advantage of this rare commodity in the car repair market. Seriously.

I'm a mechanic that needed an inspection, and got a long list of things that needed fixed and a very eager "can I give you an estimate?" A headlight and wiper blade were the only actual problems with the car. If you're looking for an honest mechanic, keep looking.Service: Vehicle InspectionService: Vehicle Inspection

I'm ALMOST sad Ioved to Puerto Rico because I won't have these qualified technicians taking care of my vehicles anymore.Honesty, integrity, and just all-around good folks working here. I know most the staff by name, and always felt my vehicle was in competent caring hands with them.
