They do transmissions so wrong. Stay away.When I went to give them my last name they said, "we don't do that here". No paperwork. I dropped a vehicle off for a transmission quote, they did something to it that caused additional issues, and then denied having sabotaged the vehicle even though we had 3 other shops look at it and confirm that the vehicle was in a different condition before taking it to them than it was when we drove it off their lot. They denied everything and didn't have any paperwork and claimed a part needed replaced that no other shop recommended replacing. And all that at a higher price than any other shop.The other transmission shops in town recommend avoiding them at all costs. So do I. Take it anywhere else and you'll be happy you did.We also got a 12 year warranty from the other shops where these guys didn't offer any warranty.Stay away. Save money and get a better warranty. Stay away.

PLEASE STAY AWAY if I can give them less than 1 stars I would. Don t get fooled by their friendliness when you walk in or before you bring in your car. My car s transmission went out while i was visiting in Columbia for thanksgiving, since it was a holiday almost no one was open for the whole weekend but the Hyundai dealership got me in and they told me what was wrong and that it needed a new transmission however it was too expensive to fix it there and I asked md transmissions multiple times if they had experience with a Hyundai Elantra before and if they can rebuild transmissions. They said Yes we can the dealerships are a scam they sold you a car now they don t care about you .. I clearly stated and even shared the information from the inspection and they said they can look at it and do it if not they can put in a rebuilt one. On Monday I towed my vehicle there the owner said he d look at it that same day he said it may be fluids leaking or a solenoid and he said he d do everything he can to check it but he said give me until tomorrow after I brought in my vehicle( which is not too unreasonable) but I told him I live about a 100 miles out and I told him I can t be coming everyday so give me an exact date. He said tomorrow and when I came they didn t even go inside the car and turn it on. So he said give me a few more days so I went back and Thursday he called me and said it was a Transmission(which I clearly stated from the start) I asked him what type of check they did to see if it can be fixed and he said I put it In drive and it wouldn t move and I can put in a used transmission in for 4,000$. I specifically told them from the start the only reason I was coming there is if they rebuild transmissions, after that he said and I quote I don t know why these Hyundai and Kia cars are so special I have no experience with them after making me spend hundreds on towing it in and out and for transportation to come to Columbia and back for days. On top of that he told me to come get the car the same day to take it out, he said he wouldn t let a tow truck inside for a few days if I didn t come and take it the same day he called. so I had to cancel all my plans to just get my car towed back to the dealership. What s killing me the most and everything would ve been semi normal mechanic behavior but THE attitude and way he talked to me. He was chilling in his office smoking with a friend when I came in to ask him about details and before even saying hello he told me keys are in the car, you can take it when I asked for more information he said I m sorry I m busy, so PLEASE STAY AWAY if you have serious issues and you care about your car. Even if they said they could fix it I wouldn t trust someone near my car with this type of behavior. I took my car to the dealership and they fixed it in 2 days with just 1600$ and they had wait times longer than a month but still found a way to squeeze me in and kept me updated the whole time.

Love these guys they put a rebuilt transmission in my 2005 Chevy Avalanche February 20 20 and it is Shifting perfectly and ran smooth all the way back to Missouri with no problem no hard kicking in passing gear just move up and down I 70 West I will let them service all of my vehicles when it comes down to them needing a transmission. Went to them because I had a click on my vehicle I was trying to figure out and they looked at it for no charge and wasn't nothing to worry about will definitely be back great service

I had my transmission rebuilt in December and received a one year warranty with assurance that they would work with me no matter when I needed help, if I needed it. The warranty clearly stated for the work to be done in house. Sure enough I was having problems with it in south Alabama in July. Not only did they offer to help me get the truck to a repair shop they also helped me, financially, to get it fixed....from three states away. I am very happy with M D Transmission and recommend them to anyone in the area needing work. They also fit me in on super short notice when I had an emergency run to go on. Found the part, for a 20 year old truck, had it installed and the truck was back to me inside of 24 hrs. Affordability and high integrity will keep them on my list of favorite people to work with from now on.

Awesome group of guys and excellent work. Our racing family has a transmission guy we go to normally but used mike to rebuild my 03 explorer transmission, after new transmission install my transfer case went out, these guys took good care of me. Love the fact that if anything goes wrong i just take the whole vehicle to them instead of pulling the transmission and they fix it! Will be doing alot more business with these guys!

UNBELIEVABLE, Mike is awesome, I'm moving to Colorado from West Virginia, got transmission problems while I was in town. Called Mike told him my situation and that I need to get back on the road quickly, he said no problem. Columbia transmission said it would cost me $1150 to repair Mike charged me $781.59 for all new parts, new torque converter and a muffler (while it was on the lift). And he did it in 2 days (stayed till 6pm, when they close at 5) the second day just to get it finished for me, also dropped me off at my travel trailer, at the rv park, and picked me up when it was finished. It runs like a new van. So happy. Plus, several people told me about this place on opposite sides of town(a different campground) and said what a great job Mike had done for them. They specialize in transmissions, but do all automotive work as well. You want great work done at a great price call Mike. Thanks Mike see you when I come back through town... Keep up the great work.

My vehicle was towed and diagnosed with a faulty slave cylinder. I had specifically requested dealer only parts and even went the extra mile to preorder the correct part via vin number and informed MD Trans. . I paid 450 dollars when I picked up my vehicle, and asked again to double vhdck they used the dealer part, They informed me it was th part I requested. Low and behold I broke down again, this time the 1st day of vacation 600miles away from columbia. At 1st they refused to help me unless I towed the vehicle 600 miles back to columbia. Fortunately my boyfriend works for plaza tire and went to talk to MD Trans. to make the situation right by them paying for my vehicle to be repaired at the firestone across the street where I was. When I got the receipts together, Firestone had only charged me 320 total while MD charged me 450 total. I was also then informed an autozone non -dealer part was put on instead of the part I had requested before service and when I paid for service. Not only did MD Transmission lie and take my money, they tried to leave me stranded while keeping my money and over charged me 150 dollars for a part I didnt ask for. Also my clutch pedal wasnt the same when I picked it up the 1st time and the tried to say it was normal.Do not have your vehicle repaired here, they take advantage of people, especially women and then try to play stupid about it! I would however take it to plaza tires on smiley or Firestone!

Just brought a 67 buick that is pretty clean but the transmission stopped shifting smoothly after i added some fuilded.Tool it to Jiffy but they were cared to touch it, went to another shop they said it would have to have tranny pulled and torque converter fluushed.went to the M___ place they charged me an inspection fee but didnt give me a good reason for my shifting problem.Finally took it to a real machanic, always professional with me.told him my problem and he said lets take a look as he crawled under my car he removed a part took it inside shop went on a test ride then he went back under car went back in shop and replaced another part.Went for test drive after convincing him he didn't need to go wash up.Car shifts like a new car! When i asked he how much he replied " You don't owe me anything boss call us if you need us and that's what i will do.Thank you, mike!

Wow this is by far one of the worst automotive shops I have ever seen and the rudest "mechanic/owner" I've ever encountered. Stopped into this shop and the owner was smoking up a storm, was rude, and his shop was filthy. I wouldn't want a mechanic from that shop getting into my car for any reason and now I certainly don't want them to work on my car after such poor treatment. Go elsewhere if you want to be treated with any dignity or respect.
