Lee and Rick are great guys to work with. I had a catastrophic transmission issue that was too much for me to put money back into my old vehicle and wasn't worth repairing and they didn't charge me anything for the diagnostic unlike another of their competitors in town that wanted $189 just to plug in their diagnostic tool. I highly recommend them.

We brought our minivan here for a second opinion after being told we needed a new transmission. Rick and Lee were SO kind and helpful and just super great to talk with! They inspected, found that we did not need a new transmission but that there were a couple of other issues to be addressed. They recommended a shop and even brought our van there themselves.Top notch service!! HIGHLY recommend!!

These guys are amazing! I had my car towed to them after my check engine light came on with transmission codes. They were busy but said they were happy to diagnose my car and get back to me in a day or two. I have previously had a transmission replaced by them on a different vehicle about 3 years ago and knew I wanted them to repair this one as well despite being told by the dealership where I had just bought the car a few months earlier to take it to another local shop as they thought it would save me some money. However, I knew from my previous experience that Columbia Transmission did quick, fair and honest work. I was charged exactly what I was quoted and my biggest compliment would have to be that they worked on my car OVER THE WEEKEND to ensure I had a quick turn around. This was impressive especially since I am a single parent with that being my only vehicle at that time, none of this they knew, they just made a inconvenient, expensive repair as quick as easy as it could be which meant a ton! I hope to not need Columbia Transmission again anytime soon but if I do I will mostly definitely return to them for my repair.

Our son was traveling thru Columbia when he called us and stated the car was slipping/not running right. We live 2.5 hours away and didn t want him to get stranded so we found this place next to the interstate. It was at night, on the weekend so we had him fill out the form and drop the keys. (Got someone to meet him there and pick him up).On Monday I called the establishment and he was extremely nice and stated they would look at the car. He called back later and told me that it was not transmission related and gave me more info on what he thought it would be. He provided references to contact that could look at the car. He did not charge us for looking at it and since we are from out of town, he even took our car to the next automotive establishment we choose to get fixed.If you re looking for a place that treats their customers right and are helpful - this is your place to go!

Come here if your looking for honest people. They truly charged me nothing for a complete consultation, and then they gave me a different place that would be able to turn around my issue quicker, they were not just trying to make a dollar off of me. Truly nice staff and a great business. Will be back here again with any other problems!

Outstanding customer service. You come in and youre treated with respect and dignity. They don t rush you or make you feel stupid. These aren t the guys to make a quick buck off you. No assessment fee and didn t even charge me for what was fixed. I told them about my inexperience and no rugs were pulled over me. I m not one to leave reviews but I m blown away. From the camaraderie to the transparency and integrity these guys are squared away and old school.

Highly recommend this shop to anyone experiencing transmission issues. My car was refusing to engage because of a computer issue, and the dealership diagnosed it as a $2,600.00 mechanical repair.I sought out a second opinion, and Lee and Rick went above and beyond to carefully diagnose the car, and explain why they thought it was more than likely a computer issue than a mechanical one.I ended up going to them twice about the issue and both times they went above and beyond to explain the issue, put me in contact with someone they trusted, and give follow up advice. They could have sold me an expensive repair, but instead they very selflessly gave their time and expertise to help. Would certainly recommend them to anyone and will use them again when the need arises.

I am very satisfied with the service I received from Columbia transmission. If you need your transmission fixed, I definitely would recommend this place! Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I had a very different experience from most people rating. I have never written a one star review, but I had such an awful time with this mechanic. They originally fixed my transmission in 2020 and it was nearly $4000. I had just bought the car used from Bob McCosh just to find out it had been sold to me with a bad transmission. Before the year warranty was up (literally the week my warranty was up), I started having problems again. I took it back in, they looked at it, and fixed whatever the issue was. Fast forward to 2023, my transmission is bad again and my car will not reverse. I took it back in and they diagnosed it for free as a favor since we have had it fixed by them before. They diagnosed it and said they would cut us a deal and fix it for the same price as the repair last time (the repair is now $1000 more than last time without the deal they were giving us). This was extremely disappointing to hear because it had only been three years since the first repair. I drive my car to and from work and school everyday and it has less than 100,000 miles. It should not already be bad and be ANOTHER $4000 to fix it. It makes me think they didn t fix it right the first time. I am not a heavy driver and just mainly do city driving. I also remember when I got it fixed the first time, they extremely lowballed the estimate and I ended up paying a lot more than initially quoted. Makes me question if they do that on purpose since, after reading other reviews, other people also had that issue.I felt like the mechanics talked to me as if I was stupid, and I had to have my grandpa do all of the communication for me. It felt like they thought since I am a woman, they had to talk down to me.It also took them nearly two weeks to diagnose my car meaning I had no form of transportation to get around. They take on too many projects at once and cannot keep up with all of them. He was constantly telling me they had a lot of cars at the moment, which I remember him also saying back in 2020. I eventually called them and asked for updates and they told me what was wrong with it, which makes me think they are bad at communicating. There was also two times they said they would call me back and I never received a call.That being said, I ended up getting it fixed at a different mechanic with a better warranty option. This mechanic cost $4000 (reminder that the repair without Columbia Transmissions deal was $5000). That mechanic said that he thinks the parts Columbia Transmission put in my car could have been used, but there is no way to know for sure. When we told him we had it repaired at Columbia Transmission before, he chuckled as if this has been an issue for others before.Long story short, their work did not last long, it felt like I was not respected as a woman, and your car will take an eternity to get fixed. I would not take my car here again.Service: Transmission

They did a great job fixing my truck. Was dissapointed that my truck was left unlocked overnight and everything was stolen out of my vehicle. With no cameras in the lot they should be advising people to remove all items from cars.

Columbia transmission is the only place to take your vehicle when it comes to transmissions. Lee and Rick were beyond helpful every step of the way. They were transparent, and I always felt like they had my best interests at heart. They took the stress out of the experience and went out of their way to ensure I had a positive experience. Can't recommend them enough.

Both Rick and Lee were extremely helpful, kept me informed what was going on and how long it would take. Free estimate in less than a half hour and much better price than others in town had quoted me. Got the van back with a rebuilt transmission and it runs perfectly. I ll go back in two weeks for the recommended follow up check, but I m very satisfied with their work, service and warranty. Was recommended by a friend and I ll pass that recommendation along to anyone.Service: Transmission repair

I cannot boast about Lee at Columbia Transmission enough. You can t trust too many repair shops nowadays, but the folks at Columbia Transmission are honest, skilled, and personable. Lee received my car in pretty bad shape from a previous auto repair shop and was nothing but helpful. Lee kept me updated throughout the entire process and was extremely helpful walking me through things I didn t understand. Their estimate was the exact amount they said it would be and as soon as they were able to get me in, they were done in a timely manner. Lee provides a free 2 week check up and is very personable as he remembers every customer and their car. Hopefully I don t have to get my transmission repaired ever again, but if I did - Lee would be who I go to!Service: Transmission repair

We had recently purchased a 2013 Nissan Cube and discovered it had transmission issues. We called Columbia Transmission and spoke with Lee who told us to bring it in and he would diagnose it and make recommendations. He was very professional and easy to talk to. We took it in and they diagnosed the problem and recommended it would need a transmission replacement, due to internal issues in the transmission. We gave them the go ahead and they had the transmission in by the next day but there were other issues with the computer. They stayed with it and found the computer needed to be replaced as well. They had it replaced and now the car is running like new. They were very easy to work with and kept us informed throughout the process. Rick, the owner, even offered to pay for the computer, sticking to the original quote, but we understood that there was no way for them to know it had issues during the initial diagnosis, so we paid for the complete repair. We felt it was not their fault that Nissan, and other car companies, put out cars that had well documented transmission issues. So, there was no need for them to take that hit. We are very happy that we took our car to them. We felt as though we had gone back in time, when people treated others with respect and dignity. They are a great team of professions that we would not hesitate to recommend to others.Services: Transmission, Auto engine diagnostic

The transmission in our vehicle failed just outside of Columbia as we were passing through on a Friday morning. They repaired our transmission the same day and met us on Saturday so we could go on to our destination. The ironic thing was we had just sold our transmission shop in another state! The vehicle is running great and their price was fair. Far less than a dealership.Service: Transmission

I try to limit my 5 star ratings to places of excellence. That said Columbia transmission deserves above that!! The staff here go way above and beyond. Lee is very knowledgeable and a joy to do business with. These guys earn your trust and business. I will absolutely take any vehicle to them and highly recommend them to anyone!! A++++

We recently purchased a 2016 Ford Escape, since the first day out of the dealer it presented Transmission issues, we were new in the city and ask for recommendations, and the answer was Lee from Columbia Transmission Service . We contacted Lee and he told us to bring the car for a check. Lee was very profesional, easy to contact, explained everything and was very patient with our case (we had to wait for the Dealer to pay the work). They help us communicating with the dealer. They were very rapid and kept us inform all the way thru the process. Car broke down passing through Columbia. Lee and his team were super friendly and helpful from the very first phone call. They were very busy (I can see why) but took the time time to check out our car and give us an idea of what the issue was. They even offered to let us keep it there a couple days if we wanted to think about what we wanted to do with the car. We ended up deciding to have them do the work and are very pleased with the whole process. The work was done thoroughly and efficiently. Lee kept us updated on the whole process. And the car runs beautifully now. Overall the best experience I ve ever had with any sort of mechanic service and I would recommend this shop to anyone.

So my 2018 Nissan had a Transmission issue and needed to be replaced. Columbia Transmission got us in and took care of the replacement in just a few days. Team was quick to respond and very friendly. Boy did these guys help me out big time my truck broke in a major way. They quick discovered what it would that to get it fix. Sourced the long list of parts and got them quickly and expertly installed and got my truck back on the road. All along effectively communicating we re we were in the process. Let me tell you about this amazing place. My husband and I were having some odd noises in our truck and called a few places and got scoffed at since we were traveling through. I called Columbia Transmission services and they were kind, friendly and so knowledgeable. They were able to tell us what was wrong, how much it would cost and what options we had. Although, we left our truck with them because it just wasn t worth fixing, they made us feel safe and that we did the right thing. Not only did they give amazing service, they called to check on us because they knew we were traveling across country. If I could give them 10 stars I absolutely would.Service: Transmission repair

When my transmission went out on my 2005 all wheel drive Mitsubishi Endeavor I was turned away from 2 separate highly rated transmission shops because - it s a rare transmission that we wouldn t feel comfortable working on BUT Lee & Rick at Columbia Transmission had the experience, employees, and knowledge to not only get the parts I needed, but repair the transmission as well. They were in contact with me every step of the way and even sent me off with a gift. I had a wonderful experience with Rick and Lee at Columbia transmission. I recently purchased a new (to me) vehicle, and not 10 days later had some serious transmission problems. Fortunately, they were able to diagnose and service my car very quickly. The customer service was absolutely outstanding. I usually do all my own maintenance, but this was out of my league. I was worried about taking my vehicle anywhere but I'm very happy with the service they have provided. I will take all of my future transmission work to these guys. Also they offer a Military discount!

Rick and his guys did a fantastic job on my Jeep Liberty. I had it towed on a Monday and he had my transmission rebuilt and put my Jeep together by Wednesday and Rick and his guys where test driving it on Thursday. Very professional attitude and the most important he did what he said he was going to do. Keeping your promise and a fair price is hard to come by these days. My car broke down on I-70, and my car was towed to Columbia Transmission on a referral. Wow, what great advice! This event led to one of the best customer service experiences I ve ever had! Rick and Lee were professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. After diagnosing that I unfortunately needed a new transmission, these guys had me back on the road in a week and kept me apprised of the process each step of the way. Rick and Lee are the best representation of Columbia business folk. I went in for an estimate/evaluation of my vehicle. The problem didn't really lie in the transmission field but they laid out a couple alternate solution, pointed me in the right direction. Rick was such a great man. He was able to diagnose the problem quickly and give us some great advice. Although we broke down Rick got us back on track and we are at our final destination. 10/10 I would deal with him again.
