We've been going to AJ's exclusively for all our vehicle/mechanic needs since 2001 when we moved to Columbia from out of state as newly weds. My husband's best friend from childhood lived here already with his young family. He said 'AJ's is the only mechanic in town I would recommend. They are honest and I trust them'. We have absolutely found that to be the case. Alan and Vickie are wonderful, honest people who have taken great care of us for years.

Outstanding Performance at this place. Wonderful staff and they didn t even wake the baby. Stopped here passing through town because our AC wasn t working in a heat wave. They got us in n out and back on the road! The staff, ownership and quality was great. This place is top notch. This place is an example of how to own, run and operate a business. Customer service!

Wonderful, trustworthy repair shop in Columbia. Rarely can you say wonderful and trustworthy together about a repair facility, but this place has earned it. I've taken our Tahoe there for a few repairs and have never been disappointed!

We have found this place to be extremely fair and thoughtful. They are not the least expensive in town and it does take some time to get an appointment.However, their honest opinions and talent earned our respect, and we will keep coming.The physical location of the shop is the only concern. I don t necessarily feel safe there. We go around 7:30 AM to drop off the vehicle, and even at that time of day there s a creepy factor. The street parking isn t ideal. We haven t had any issues to speak of with personal safety or vehicle safety, but I can see why other people may drive by this place and think NOPE and look for a dealership garage or national chain to take their car to.

We heard great things about AJ's, so we had our son's vehicle towed there when we couldn't get it back home. I called the next day to let them know what was going on. I was told they were very busy, it would be a few days before they could get it in and really look at it. I called to follow up, and received communication that there were a great deal of codes and most likely needed a new engine. Rough estimate was $10,000I drove to Columbia to see where things were at. I was given an instant feeling that they wanted nothing to do with the vehicle. I asked if they replaced engines and was told they did, but they didn't like doing it. I was also told they don't make any money off of it. I was also told at that time they would not fully look at it for at least another 2 weeks.After speaking to our warranty company (who would have covered a new engine, and told us they just needed the repair shop to call to start the claim) and another shop, I had the vehicle towed elsewhere.Within 3 hours I received a phone call from the second repair shop - there was two O rings where the oil filter was put on, causing all the oil to leak out. This was taken care of, the engine is fine. Not 10K, a couple of hundred and back on the road running great the next business day.

I am extremely skeptical of mechanics and I didn't have enough time to research this shop, I just had to do it. They took my car and held it for 2 months which helped while I got my money together and didn't charge me for that. The car ended up having more issues than I anticipated, but who knows what happens when the drive belt seizes?! They were very straightforward and nice to me, it cost way more than I expected but feel that they were honest with me and explained everything well. This would be a 5 star review, but I thought their communication with me through the process was minimal(I had to call them) and the back log was a month to even look at it. Thank you for getting me back on the road! I'm more mad at the POS that Machens sold me.

There is not a better AC shop in the entire Mid West, hands down. I have taken cars here for YEARS and have never once second guessed their judgement. I would HIGHLY recommend them for any automotive repairs or any automotive AC issues. Alan is an AC wizard. They even do all the AC work on the local ambulances in town.

Very impressed! I called the day before for a diagnostic for my cars heater. He let me know they could get diagnostic and would see about getting it fixed same day but most likely would get estimate for repairs. We ll turns out they were able to get the part and fix same day for a very reasonable price. I had called around a few other shops to get estimates for diagnostics and they were way over priced. AJ s is the best in como If needing to get ac/ heat work done! High recommend

Been going here for my A/C work for over a decade. They do a great job. I do most of my own work on my cars, so I am very picky who I let touch my vehicles. This is the only place I trust in Columbia.

Allen and Vickie have been taking care of mine and my family's vehicles for over five years. They're honest, reasonable and fast, the best in Columbia.

They charge very reasonable rates, and while they are always busy, it's a highly recommended small shop. I now expect there be a wait. I have had four different problems on three different vehicles, they have all been taken care of in a reasonable time and with excellent results. l have found from past experience, a shop that doesn't have a wait is not usually the best place to take your needed repairs. At AJ's that wait for your appointment is well worth it. Thank you, @ AJ's people for all the outstanding work, and friendly service.

I've been going to AJ's for years and I have always gotten amazing service. I completely trust the owner Al to tell me what needs fixed on my car. He goes above and beyond to help keep my car in good condition.

Aj's was excellent. I highly recommend them. I've been running to these big car dealers only to wait and find out their booked for the next 6 months. AJ's is a small business but they have a heart. People were pleasant, work was done in 30 mins. Thanks again guys.

The absolute best in the business (Columbia and surrounding area) when it comes to automotive AC installation and repair. Allen is nothing less than a genius. He will take the time to walk you through what is wrong, what he recommends, and why he supports it. Repairs are done right the first time at reasonable costs honest, respected, local, family business. The only negative thing to say is they are a small shop who are extremely popular. Appointments can be as far as 3 weeks out, depending on the time of year.

Just arrived from Oregon. AC not working great. They were able to look at the car quickly and diagnose it. Very reasonable. Great customer service. Feel very fortunate to have found this company!

GENIUS! We take multiple older cars to Allen and Vickie and they get repaired right the first time.No up sell for additional work, honest and fair. It's tough being in the auto repair business because most of the time you have bad news the customer doesn't want to hear but Allen and Vickie are such great people you don't really mind it.

Had to replace bad brake lines that caused brakes to drag for over a year. Brake pads and rotors were wore out due to dragging brakes. I replaced pads and rotors but didn't take the time to clean black brake dust off front wheels. A few months later, while fixing something else on my truck, aj's told me I would need both front pads and rotors replaced before it would pass next inspection. I informed them I had just replaced them myself and they insisted they had measured the pads and rotors and needed replaced. They further pointed out the brake dust on my wheels as evidence that brakes were dragging. They wouldn't admit they just tried to scam me. I've passed the last three inspections since then by more reputable garages with no issues with my new pads and rotors. I did clean the brake dust off my wheels so no one would try to use that as excuse to tell me my pads and rotors need replaced again. From my experience, I can tell you aj's will scam you if you let them!!

A J's Automotive has the best diagnosticians! They determined what was wrong with my car, went to great lengths to correct and replace parts not working, and did so at a reasonable price. I would highly recommend A J's.

I was traveling thru to my next job. Called and told them what my ac was doing. He had me stop in with truck running diagnosed it and fixed me up. Very pleased and highly recommended!

Friendly, honest, fair-priced. They also give excellent advice and aren't worried about only making a sale. Willing to talk about and explain problems as well as all options for addressing them. Will be a return customer.

Took car in for 60,000 mile checkup. They updated things that needed updated, gave a printout of what was done and recommended things for the future. Final price was less than quoted price since not every thing needed to be done.

Great customer service, clearly communicated charges, just what you need in a mechanic. A hard thing to find when you move into a new town, take advantage.
