I brought my 2021 Ram 1500 in to get some recalls taken care of. I dropped it off at 8 am and they called me at 1:30 pm to say it was ready. I'm pleased with the speed of service. But, I mentioned a check engine light and the code I was getting on my ODB reader. I was told there would be a $160 "diagnostic" fee to look into it. Really?? It takes me only 10 seconds to plug in my ODB reader to pull the codes. I am happy to pay a fee for actually fixing a problem, but I feel $160 is exorbitant for just plugging in a code reader then looking up what the code means.

Check engine light is on, went to autozone, got a code that indicates a pretty serious problem that could result in the vehicle getting stuck in Park resulting in the inability to use the vehicle, or getting stuck in gear resulting in the inability to crank the vehicle (or the vehicle could crank while in gear resulting in serious injury or damage). Service desk couldn't care less, stating "I only have one tech, there's nothing I can do. But, I have an opening in 1 month so you can bring it in then". That's not helpful at all. Additionally, they don't accept codes from anywhere else. They "have to" use their own machine, which they will not do without charging you a $135 "diagnostic fee". The kid at autozone can do it in 5 seconds, all you do is plug it in and hit a button. I have personally used the most expensive versions of these machines, and it's the same thing. You plug it in, hit a button, then plug it into a laptop and click a few buttons. Apparently that is $135 worth of work these days. This is the epitome of poor service.

I recently shopped for a truck and was impressed by Lakeshore of Picayune (LP). They greeted me and quickly and politely identified what i was looking for. They showed me several trucks with NO Pressure at all. I did not buy anything on that visit as I had a few other places to look. The next day they checked on me and ultimately they found just what i was looking for and worked with me to gat a good deal. I would recommend LP to anyone that wants a good car shopping/buying experienceChuck
