Great staff and respectable owner. Always been very honest and upfront with me. Have brought 3 different vehicles there and left with a perfect running car. Little pricy but it s definitely worth it. When i brought my new Lexus in they were able to diagnose the problem in 2 days and were honest when they said they couldn t work on it. It sure of the reasoning but still appreciate what they do for me.Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Engine repair, Vehicle Inspection

I used to work there so I know what it's like. The owner is awesome and all the mechanics are top notch. Most of all the owner (Bruce) has the utmost integrity; He will always take care of the customer and never cheat you. I highly recommend taking your car there

I m posting this for all the women like me who know little to nothing about cars. THIS IS A PLACE YOU CAN TRUST!!! And I am so grateful to have found them.My first experience with them was over a year ago I believed I needed a new alternator and new brakes. According to them all I needed was a new battery and my brakes needed a little cleaning, which they did, which was SO much cheaper and over a year later I ve had no problems with either. They really earned my trust and I knew I would return to them whenever possible.Fast forward to this week. My automatic has been having difficulty shifting into higher gears so I called to ask some questions. Not only was Justin very thorough and patient on the phone talking through the symptoms but later that day he surprised me by calling to give me potential estimates depending on how I might want to proceed. What is special about that is he wanted me to know that this repair might be speedy enough to consider looking for a new vehicle instead of getting the work done. But he emphasized multiple times that the first step would be to stop in when I could to have it test driven.Today I did just that. Even though I spoke with Justin a week ago he remembered my first name after just saying I spoke with him about possible transmission problems. He said to wait a couple minutes and Bruce would take my car for a drive. Within minutes Bruce has my car hooked up to his diagnostic tool and was explaining things to me in a way I could understand. It was quite awhile into the diagnostic before I discovered that Bruce is the owner! And it is no wonder this shop operates the way it does. The owner is 100% involved and he is such a knowledgeable, caring, thorough and honest man.He probably spent 30 minutes driving my car with me (over the lunch hour!!!) and he ultimately drew the same conclusion as Justin did over the phone. That this would be a spendy repair and that my particular vehicle probably isn t worth that investment. He also explained that what I have going on is more of a nuisance than anything and with a few tricks I could get by indefinitely. And after ALL that he charged me nothing for his time and wished me the best.My father (my lifetime mechanic) passed away 4 years ago and I know how happy he is looking down knowing there are people like Bruce and Justin and places like A-1 who will give the same care, advice and service one would give to their own daughter.If possible I will never take my vehicle to any other place and I would recommend A-1 to EVERYONE! This shop does good business and is incredibly fair. I had another shop blame them for an error THEY actually made. Bruce "made it right" when it wasn't even their fault and followed up with the other shop owner personally (Matt's automotive....DO NOT go there unless you have you wallet ready and like unfair business practice)!! I will not take my vehicle anywhere but A1 again!!Services: Electrical, Air conditioning

I had a transmission rebuilt by this company 5 years ago, it had to be repaired twice after the rebuild. Both times the warranty was handled professionally and without question. In fact they told us the final time it was repaired they upgraded the parts and made sure it would be good. I can attest their work was excellent, the vehicle is running strong 75,000 miles later. We are now going to have them rebuild another vehicle, we have a fleet and need maintenance often. I m confident we will once again get great service!

Repair was done promptly. Counter staff and mechanic were friendly and knowledgeable. Shop seemed clean and well run. They charged me $400 for a fuel pump before labor, which was a kick in the nut sack. Pump price aside, I m glad they got it fixed within two days.

I highly recommend A-1 Automotive and Repair.I cold-called their business after a quick Google search while stuck just before an intersection in Moorhead. My insurance's roadside assistance was going to take 2 hours to get to me, so I had hoped SOMEone nearby would be able to help. Justin and a colleague showed up within 10 minutes, was able to use a battery jump starter, and we all limped back to the shop.They quickly assessed I needed a new alternator which they were able to install the very next day. The service was wonderful and I didn't get shocked with how much everything cost. I know any further service we may need will definitely be through A-1.

Bruce and his team tackled what turned out to be an ongoing problem in our car. They went above and beyond what we expected to resolve the issue. They handled things in a professional, and courteous manner. You can't find a automotive repair shop with more integrity. Thank you, Bruce and team.

So impressed!!! They helped out our daughter when her car wouldn't start at college. The mechanic was willing to listen to her dad who does all our family car repairs. They explained clearly how they tested it and what was done to repair it. The car was fixed within two days and for less expense than we expected. They even offered to pick our daughter up so she could get her car back. Definitely will go back if we ever need help again. Awesome, professional shop

This place has always been amazing to me and my family. A friend wanted a reference to a reputable mechanic to tune up his vehicle before a road trip and A1 is the first that always comes to mind. Dropped it off without an appointment and it was done the same day. Always professional and straight to business. 5 star service every time and free estimates. Great job guys!

Great people! I stopped in Moorhead for gas on Friday headed to Bismarck from Minneapolis. When I started my car back up there was a rattling noise underneath the car. I found A-1 on Google so gave them a call to see if they could tell me if it was something serious or if I could continue driving. It was 4:40pm, but they said they would take a look. I headed over and waited while they settled up with other customers. I think it was the owner that came out (with Hot Wheel cars for my two young sons) and pulled my car into the shop. After about 10 minutes he brought my car back out saying that he replaced a washer that had fallen off and that I should be good to go. He wouldn't take any payment - just said to come back next time I need work done on my car. What an awesome experience!

I really like the friendly service and the willingness to help. They ask a lot of questions and are willing to listen to what you have to say. They are quick to fix the problem, no waiting for two weeks or more to get it done. I didn't appreciate the owner scolding an employee for a mistake on another vehicle in front of me, this is something that should have been taken care of behind the scenes. I still recommend this place to others for good service. Be sure you have the $ ready before you have the work done.

I had taken my car in initially for a flat tire and had them repair it. Which they were very prompt and very respectful. A couple months later, I had troubles with the same tire and took it back to them and again they repaired it. The problem with my tire going flat for a third was a red flag. This time i decided to take the tire off and go to an actual tire store. I was informed that the original patch job was not that great and that the quick fix for the second patch job was a tire plug that they put through the original patch from the first fix ( you can buy that at the auto store for $4 and that I have in my toolbox and vehicles for when I'm traveling for a quick fix to get me to a station) only meant for about 50-60 miles, is what they put in my tire for the second fix. All in all if this is how they treat a tire, I wouldn't trust them with any other part of the vehicle.

My friends truck broke down. On the highway. We didn't know anything about where we was at. Think God he had AAA. Then we called A-1 auto. I'm from Tennessee. And I have heard of southern hospitality. But these group of wonderful people. Took it above and beyond. They fixed my friends truck. In a few hours. And we are now on our way back to Tennessee. Thanks to A-1 Auto. Thank each and everyone of you. Y'all made our trip home possible.

A-1 Automotive and Repair is a trust worthy business and exceeded my expectations. I had an estimate from another shop and wanted a second opinion. A-1 was referred to me from a family friend so I decided to get a second opinion from them. Bruce came right out and told me that the maintenance in question was not an issue right now and to just keep an eye on it. This is an honorable way of doing business and I feel other shops in town can learn from A-1; it;s not about taking advantage of people in front of you it's about building trust and a long term relationship. Thank you Bruce, you have earned our business going forward.

Absolutely great service, I brought my car to have it looked at. Was told the repairs would be expensive, but that car would be drivable for a long time. No pressure for a right now fix. I highly recommend to anyone needing a car shop

Best customer service in the area hands down. I take all our company vehicles here for any problem, and get them back so fast. Went in to get tire plugged and they fixed my sticky door while they were at it free of charge. Great customer service.

I moved to Moorhead last year and this is the only place I have taken it to because they are very fast at getting work done and I have found them to be nice and honest. My AC broke and they were able to do some research and get it done in a couple of days and as economically as possible. I definitely recommend!

Used A-1 in an emergency situation while on vacation. They squeezed us into the schedule for at least a diagnostic, and were very upfront with costs. A-1 also had connections with a towing company for very reasonable rates. Thank you for making a very stressful situation a little bit easier!

WOW! Unbelievable customer service and integrity! My job took me to Fargo where my vehicle broke down and was undriveable. Aggressive Towing was quick to tow me to A1 Automotive (at 9pm) and I was back on the road by 10am the following morning. I was treated with respect and the owners went WAY above and beyond to take care of me. I would DEFINITELY recommend A1 Automotive to anyone in need of vehicle repairs!! Thank you again A1!!

Would recommend this place to everyone. Top notch service from Bruce and his crew. My wife and I are traveling, the transmission went out in my F350 and they rebuilt the transmission in record time. Great bunch of guys. P.S. they like cookies. Thanks again.

Absolutely the best service I have ever seen. My transfer case was about to go out in my truck while I was driving back to Georgia. That had it fixed and back on the road within 2 hours and at an amazingly fair price. These guys don't rip people off

We couldn't get our SUV to start so we had it towed to A-1 automotive (by accident actually; it just happens to be right down the street from the place we usually take our vehicles for repairs and tune ups). After a couple hours I received a call, they informed me that it was a "catastrophic engine failure" and that they had tried everything they could and it would be roughly $3,500 to rebuild with a used engine. We decided to have the SUV towed out of A-1 Automotive's lot and have it looked at again. When we went to pick it up from A-1 Automotive the starter was sitting in the passenger seat, after asking them to put it back in they said "there is no point in putting it back in because whoever repairs it will need to remove it anyways". So we paid them their charge of $100 to look at the vehicle and went on our way. After our second opinion (and work done); the starter was replaced, a new battery was put in and our vehicle is running like a champ! Need less to say, A-1 Automotive will never receive our business again and I would not recommend them to anyone.

Brand new clutch and transmission in my car. Even helping me deal with an issue stemming from a previous repair at the dealership, even though they were crazy busy. They were straight forward about everything being done. Also, for the price the dealership quoted me for just my transmission, I also got a new clutch installed.

I was traveling from Michigan to Yellowstone when I started having transmission problems. I googled transmission shops and called A-1 Automotive. Bruce, who is the owner, was awesome about diagnosing the problem and made room for me in his very busy schedule to have one of his guys get right on it. I was back on the road to Yellowstone in a couple hours thanks to A-1. Customer service was outstanding as well!
