5 stars for Carlos at lake street, but 0 stars for valvoline in general according to some policy they could only use premium oil on my vehicle even though it s only at 83000 miles so though I was expecting to pay around $50 the total came to over $100 :( I don t know much about cars but I ve gotten plenty of oil changes in my life and this seems unreasonable to me. Would recommend going elsewhere even though the workers were very nice

At the beginning they offer different synthetic oil and their prices when I chose the high performance oil You can t tell which synthetic oil they use because I can t see when changing oil. That makes me nervous and unhappy. Other than that they are doing greatThanks

Waited 10 minutes and didn t see anyone working, then a guy came out and yelled at me to get in line behind a car that showed up after me. I left and won t go back.

Would not recommend. They carry the Valvoline Brand but won't honor Valvoline coupons as they are a "Franchise". THEY DO NOT ACCEPT COUPONS, NO GROUPON, NO VALVOLINE COUPONS. Say that you will have a "15 minute" oil change but plan on 30 minutes. Arrived at 5:20pm, one car in front of me, was told a 30 minute wait but ended up being 45 minutes before I could pull in. Left at 6:50pm. They over filled my oil, then asked me what to do like I'm an expert or mechanic, saying things like maybe my dipstick was bent, and pointing to the computer and saying they put in the appropriate amount. After reading more online, it seems like they probably didn't let enough or all the oil drain out... Staff was polite but between being harassed for money while waiting, the it's a "Valvoline" but not, like I'm supposed to know the difference and then getting overfilled with oil and then I'm supposed to be an expert/mechanic and tell them what to do, I won't return to this location.

For the most part there are honest, hard working people employed here. I have used this location a lot as I used to live in the neighborhood. Never had a bad experience here. Two days in a row I came hours before they closed and both times they wanted to turn me away for long wait times. I'm talking come in at 3:30 on a Saturday, they close at 5 and I had to negotiate to be the last car for the day. And of course that also means I've been waiting in the parking lot for 45 minutes so far. Just be aware of that. Once you're actually having your car serviced, things are fine.

They were quick and were able to fix everything that I came in for! They also were transparent about which parts were going into my car and explained to me why each part was important!

Kevin was extremely kind and helpful! I went to get my oil changed, and was worried if anything else needed attention. He took a look and let me know of anything extra I needed done. And if I couldn't afford it at that moment, he noted it for next time! This makes upkeep on my car so easy. Thank you!He also let me know my coupon wasn't applicable, but still gave me $10.00 off!I will be coming back. :)

I came here when I was too lazy to do my own oil. Staff here are 5 stars, however the lot is so small that only two or so cars can wait at a time.

Very interesting experience, the technician seemed kind and nice enough and talked me through various options. I usually love Valvoline and am always encouraging people to go there since they will top off your fluids and add air to your tires. All very nice services. This was my first time at this location. I only went because it was on my way home from work and I had been putting off my oil change.First, they wouldn't accept my coupon which was mailed to me by Valvoline- why have coupons that don't work at all your locations? Second and worst of all, the technician told me that my rear license plate lights were out and that I would need new ones which would cost $10 for two. I called home and asked my husband if that was something he could do and yes- he could so I opted out. When I got home, my husband checked them and the lights were working fine! Why would the technician lie to me? For 10 bucks? Disapointed!

Great team, down to earth employees! Carlos is an outstanding manager who has helped me with services far more cheaper then full service shops . Devante is a guy who really cares about how you car is and who s driving, best man on the team! Keep up the work fellas will never go elsewhere

I came in at 415 to get an oil change they close at 5. They had 2 people in the waiting area whom cars they were working on and no other cars waiting they told me they weren't taking any more people today. And walked away. The guy was very rude. So much for a fast instant oil change. As I was about to leave one of the workers came out and rushed off another vehicle as well.

All I wanted was an oil change. Right after I drove away, I knew there was a problem. The tech clearly damaged my car. Then claimed it was already broken before I arrived.When I called customer care they said it wasn't their problem. Then referred me to the owner who was rude and highly unprofessional. He claimed my car got "a glitch" when his tech was changing the oil.Obviously, the lake street store is the worst valvoline location in the city, but I didn't know that before this horrible experience. Not only do they charge twice as much as everywhere else, they don't back up their "work."I ended up having to pay the dealer $220 to fix the damage they created. I am telling everyone who doesn't already know know about how bad the 600 E Lake Street Valvoline location is. Avoid this place!

If it's owned by the same man that franchised the store in 2001 then it is probably staffed by illegal immigrants. When I worked for him, on loan from the Valvoline corporation during the transition, I had an employee proposition me with a green card scam. I instantly told the employee, whom I had come to feel as close as manager/employee friendship could be, that I had wished he didn't tell me what he told me. I was informed on his legal status plus that many other employees at the franchised store and the Goodyear tires next door--both owned by the same man--were, in fact, illegal.Being a naive 19-year old at the time, I told the owner. The man then tried to have me fired from Valvoline. I was retained by the corporation but I did lose face and standing with those at the corporate office.The man was, and probably still is scum.

Ridiculously overpriced, and charge you for every little thing, including taking the skid plate off to do the oil change! Wouldn t not recommend to anyone!

Terrible service, not attentive to customers service needs. Closed earlier than closing times. Avoid it if you can. Also bit overpriced and more interested in overselling filters and products you didn't come there for.

Lousy service indeed. Takes 1 hour to get a simple oil change? It's literally called "instant oil change". Grossly overpriced. Will go elsewhere next time. Thanks.

The gentleman that changed my oil did fine. However the set up of the shop was extremely small and it was really difficult to get in and out of the parking lot especially being on lake street
