Fantastic family shop. My wife and I have been taking our vehicles to them for many decades and have referred our family members (who also have been using them for many years) and friends. Owners are competent, honest, and customer-focused. They never push unnecessary repairs but keep a close eye on each vehicle. My last car went over 315,000 miles and was still running great when we sold it-thanks in part to their care. My wife's vehicle had well over 200,000 miles when we sold it to friends in 2018 and they are still happy with it now. Of course, they are maintaining our present vehicles. Two thumbs up (four if you include my wife).

The best auto repair shop I've been to. I had an issue with my car and when they told me the cost of the repair they offered to give me time to decide what I wanted to do with it. Every time I called the people were so nice on the phone. Definitely can recommend!

Excellent experience! We needed to find a new repair shop after our previous, trusted shop closed during covid. After plenty of research (BBB, Consumer s Checkbook, various online reviews) we decided to give South Import a try and we are very glad we did. We have a beloved 2009 Subaru Forester that we brought in that needed two minor tweaks (squeaking belt and rattling heat shield) and what we thought was another, more major repair. Upon inspection of the vehicle and discussion, we were assured that the major repair was indeed completely unnecessary at this time and was simply something to keep an eye on. In brief, we now have a non-squeaking, non-rattling Forester and saved a lot of money, time and frustration in the process. We re really glad we found a shop we can trust and would highly recommend South Import to anyone looking for honest work at very fair prices.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Vehicle Inspection, Auto maintenance

If you have a foreign car and don t wanna get robbed by hefty dealership service fees, I would highly recommend South Import. Very competent mechanics and they give you reliable information about your car. I took my car there and had a misunderstanding with them and I wasn t very nice to them about it yet they still fixed my car when they didn t have to so that tells you a lot about their character. Ask for Nick, he ll take care of you and give you honest recommendations.

I have been working with South Import for over 30 years now and they are simply the best. Their prices are fair, service is unbelievable, and they are honest to a fault. I have had multiple vehicles in excess of 200,000 miles and they are to thank for that. I'm really happy that Deans son Nick has chosen to keep this business going as I can't imagine going anywhere else with my vehicles for service.

We have been taking our cars here for many years and have always received excellent care. Dean and Nick are fantastic, honest and I trust every word they say when calling on a question or bringing my vehicle in for service. There have been times that I thought something was wrong and they looked at my car and found nothing and sent me on my way. South Imports is all about honest, good quality customer care and above excellent work. Look no further when you are searching for a mechanic

This is my second experience with South Import Motors. First time was for an oil change and second was for an oil change and back brakes and rotors on a 650 BMW. Great customer service. We have used South Imports for years. They are great people and we always feel confident that we are getting accurate estimates and not being taken advantage of. They are affordable and we have never had a problem with their service, and we have had MANY vehicles there through the years. I have compared their prices and they are always lower. Excellent customer service. If I had to list one complaint, the only thing I could think of is that they don't really have loaner cars for larger repairs, but we work around that. Even though we live clear across town, we always bring our vehicles here.

This business was recommended to me by a very creditable source in the automotive industry. My experience was truly exceptional! I have an older car with high miles and the work I needed was not an easy job. I was back on the road in less than a day and the COST was FAR LOWER than any other quotes. Dean also pointed out a couple things that need attention in the future, but didn't pressure me to take action now. Communication from both Dean and Nick was outstanding! Thanks for the great experience South Imports!

I've been bringing my vehicles here for many years and have always been satisfied with the work and price. I've seen many cars at this shop that come here when their factory warranty expires. When I was at the Honda Dealership for the airbag recall they said I needed front brakes. I took it to South Imports knowing I would get a better price still using Honda parts, but was told I still had 40% remaining. This is why I return to South Imports.The post that says Dean was rude is bogus. That was not Dean!Also, they have a great mechanic that works on American vehicles.

I have taken all of our family's vehicles to South Import for years. I can always trust this shop to do work correctly (and when there was a minor concern once, it was addressed immediately). The staff there has excellent communication and are nice people to deal with. This is my "everybody needs a great auto repair shop" shop.

I have had maintenance and repairs performed on my vehicles at random times over the last 15 years. The most recent 11/21. They are a family operated business and I have been thoroughly satisfied. I just can't say enough good things about South Import. As a female it can be tricky to have a car worked on because the shops know I don't know much about my car and I often wonder if I'm being treated well. I never have to worry about that with the guys at South Import. They have often times told me that services I thought I needed weren't even necessary yet saving me money and piece of mind. They have always done good work when needed and have never caused me a single worry or issue. I recommend them often to friends and coworkers. You just can't go wrong here.

Bought a vehicle from a dealer who wanted to charge me $150 six months later when the service engine light came on. South Imports hooked it up for free and figured out/fixed a vacuum leak and sent me on my way! We had a brake emergency while visiting the Mall of America from out of town. After calling around the area with no luck finding anyone who would even consider doing same-day repairs. I called AAA and they recommended South Import. I was so worried because we aren't from the area and couldn't stay the night to wait on repairs. The guys at this shop were so considerate, accommodating, and patient in explaining what was wrong. They made a great effort to get the parts and fix everything in one day. We did have to wait several hours, but that is to be expected and they had a waiting room and coffee, etc. I'd have to say a terrible car day ended up about as well as it could have, and the shop's owners helped us immensely! Steve the little office dog was very entertaining and friendly as well. Thank you for helping!

These guys weren t able to find the problem I was having with my car because it is a complex issue, BUT even though they spent a full day or two working on it, they did the honorable thing and didn t price gouge. South Import Motors where upfront, honest and fair with great communication. Forever, customer now!They referred me to go to German Auto Works to give them a shot, these guys are hacks. Price gouging me, horrible communication, now currently trying to convince me that all these other things are the issue when they can t even tell me exactly what it is. Classic car jargon and O2 sensor code readings to throw you off. Pulling my car out of there and telling em to F off. Stick with South Import Motors. Service: Auto engine diagnostic

I've been coming here for years and love this place! Nick and his dad take real good care of their customers. I very highly recommend South Import. You will not be disappointed and will obtain a family run mechanic shop you can trust for all your mechanical needs.

Excellent mechanics period. This shop is 18 miles from my house so I generally have a local (Plymouth area) shop do my oil changes and small stuff. Most recently I noticed a slight rattle in the front end of my Volvo XC 60 but nothing significant so during a oil change I had the Plymouth shop take a look and they said the Suspension spring was broken and recommend replacing. It was a $1200 job and contacted Borton Volvo and same there. Since the car drove great and it was simply a slight rattle over big bumps and its a 7 year old 115k mile car I didn't like the idea of spending that kind of money. Risk was the broken spring could shift and puncture the tire. Made sense to me. Took it to South Imports for a second opinion and they concluded the break was in a "good" spot and would not be a risk and that it had probably been broken for a few years based on the rust. That's the kind of advice I'm looking for.

I have followed them to three locations over 30 years. They are absolutely the best. They only fix what needs to be done - and when. I trust their recommendation without reservation. Their pricing is fair and workmanship is top notch. How many people can you say that about in business anymore? Try them, you'll like the experience.

Our XC90 had its water pump changed by South Import Motors. It was an unplanned event that was stressful and annoying. Nick at SIM was extremely pleasant and got us in first thing Monday (we had to drop off Friday night). They got the repair done by the time they promised (they also had a loaner lined up for my wife in case something unexpected came up with the repair) and were equally pleasant with my wife. I would absolutely recommend South Import Motors!

I'll give it a 4 because I've not used their auto services so I can't give a full review. However, looks like they do good work and take care of their inventory. They have some beautiful and unique used cars. If your in the market for a high quality used important (European), I'd say it's worth at least a visit.

These guys are the best. Honest, accommodating, and above all else great at working on cars. I've been to too many places where the only solution is to replace everything under the sun, in hopes of getting it right. Nick and the Guys at South Imports, diagnose the issue and repair only the issue. Again, they are the best, don't go anywhere else.

I am surprised at the discrepency in these reviews. How about a balanced review?I have been taking my cars to South Import Motors for service since 1994. I have always found their advice sound and the repairs correct and complete.Throughout the years, they have saved me hundreds of dollars in dealership charges and overprescribed repairs. Their rates are reasonable, but sometimes the amount has actually been higher due to their experience showing the repair is more difficult or something better done by a dealership (and they told me so.)In fairness, I need to say that I referred one of my friends there for a timing belt job that did not get tightned up at completion and caused an out of town breakdown. South negotiated reimbursement of the new repairs. But over 20 years, a mistake is unavoidable.I have and will continue to recommend South Import Motors. I only wish they still had their Burnsville shop.

I like their attention to detail. I got an oil change and they inspected my car thoroughly. Made sure everything worked properly. I really love this place. Highly recommended.

Yesterday they fixed a simple problem unable to be fixed by the local dealer after three tries. Used South Import 30+ years ago as well. Always does a great job. Highly recommended.

I was told by another mechanic that my water pump was leaking and needed replacement. It turned out to be a minor issue with the cam seal. South Imports called me to indicate they had not found reason to (unnecessarily) replace the pump. This is an honest mechanic who you can trust!
