I don t usually leave reviews for businesses or products, but Nelson s has been a great place for my vehicle maintenance and servicing. I have a Fiat with European features and parts that aren t easy for mechanics to navigate. I started going to Nelson s after they were recommended to me by a friend. This friend, who also had a Fiat, had struggled similarly with finding an auto body shop that was able to perform maintenance/correct damages and didn t overcharge simply on the premise of the make and model of my vehicle. I routinely visit Nelson s for oil changes and I also trust them with my car when the dashboard is moody and I need something looked at. There have been several instances when Nelson s has gone beyond being a 9-5 auto shop and has quite literally come to my rescue, even after hours. My thesis statement is that if you need a place that charges reasonably and does the job and more, this place is absolutely worth your time and dollar. They do honest work and are very easy to schedule with.

These guys are amazing I always work with Tim whenever I go. My car is known as the problem child. Every time I go they are honest and up front about the issues. They aren't over priced and don't try and over charge for simple things. I don't live in the area anymore and still drive the 30 some odd miles to bring my car to them. Only shop I trust. They are amazing people and I recommend them to everyone that owns a car.

Highly recommend Nelson's! Prices are always reasonable and transparent, and I felt they always went above and beyond helping us with repairs. We have an older car that we weren't interested in putting a lot of money into and they really understood that. They also surprised us by fixing our bumper that was sticking out a bit from an accident free of charge. We had brought our car in just to change the tires, and it was so nice of them to help with that too!

On my way out of town, I discovered a nail in my tire. Called Nelson s and they were able to fit me in immediately and patch my tire within 10 minutes. The mechanics, especially Tim were so nice. They honestly saved my day and I am so grateful!!

Highly highly recommend this place. I had my catalytic converter stolen and took it to another shop that gave me a ridiculously high and unjustified quote. Nelson s asked all the right questions and was able to give me a ballpark price over the phone. They did a great job fixing it for 1/3 of what the other shop would have charged and worked with my insurance when they stopped by for a claim.Service: Exhaust

Friendly staff, good prices, quality service. I called in first to ask questions (pricing, timing, etc.), spoke with Tim, he was professional and helpful to answer my questions. I got checked in swiftly upon arrival which is a huge factor and got my tire changed fairly quicker when compared to other nearby locations that I went to before and had the same amount of cars in line to get serviced. This shop will be my go to location for tire service.

Took my car in because it was leaking oil real bad. I was unable to get it fixed at the time but since it he didn't need to look at it for too long didn't even charge me anything to give the quote.

A fantastic experience at this autoshop. Tim was helpful, informative and made a clear effort to get the lowest priced parts as possible going as far as calling me a couple days later to inform me they found a part for 200 less dollars. Will not be going to Nelson's on Como anymore, this should be your obvious first stop for college kids. And they do welding!!Service: Exhaust

I stopped at Nelson's this morning for an oil change, and they had me in and out in less than 30 minutes for under $30. I think they aired up one of my tires, too -- the guys were so sweet! I stopped in randomly this morning to see if they had any last minute appointments, and everyone working was *beyond* helpful. They got me in right there on the spot and changed my oil for me immediately. This was above and beyond what I had expected and I was so grateful for the kind team that helped me make it happen so quickly.They are a great, affordable small team that obviously cares about people and I m so thankful to have found a place close to work that I can count on!Thank you for the awesome service - I will be back for sure!

I can t say enough good things about Nelson s Auto Shop!!! I have gone there a few times now by a recommendation from a friend, and I always receive excellent service. As a person who doesn t know much about cars, I sometimes worry about taking my car to an auto shop, but I really trust the folks who work here and I know they work really hard to give you great service for the best price possible.

Went here after a place nearby was closed unexpectedly. The man who helped us was super nice and was able to fix our license plate screw issue in under 10 mins for a great price! Will definitely be coming here again.

I ve had nothing but positive experiences here! I know very little about cars, so taking my car to the shop is always a stressful ordeal. Is it going to take days to fix? Is it a major issue or minor maintenance? Tim is so upbeat, friendly, and a very clear communicator, and takes some of the stress out of getting your car repaired. He answered a lot of my questions, and they had my car good as new in just a few hours! I ll definitely be back for all my all of my future repairs, and I ll be recommending them for all of my friends and neighbors in the area.Update: This place still rocks. They are trustworthy folks. Will continue to bring my car here.

Nelson's has been my go-to shop for the past 4 years or so and they are really the only shop I trust and feel good about bringing my car to. They always do great work and at prices that are significantly less than other local shops. I highly recommend them!

The best experience I have ever had at a car shop! The staff are so friendly and vibrant. I called when my car was acting up and they were able to get me in right away. Despite the shop being extra busy that day, they assured me they would check out my car within a few hours, and they followed through. It ended up just being a loose vacuum line, and they didn't charge me anything even to do the diagnostic exam! If you're having car troubles or just need a new place for regular maintenance I highly recommend Nelson's!

They are SO nice here! When I first moved to Minneapolis I got taken advantage of at a Bobby and Steve s and got charged way too much for an oil change. That made the service at Nelson s that much more appreciated! Great prices, convenient location, nice people, and awesome service. It felt like being at a shop back in my small town.

I ve trusted the folks at Nelson s with my cars for the last 4 years and will carry on as long as they re in business. No nonsense, incredibly helpful, and friendly folks that make you feel informed and welcome. Prices are well-explained and reasonable, never shady. They re very honest with you, too. If it won t be worth it to fix, they tell you. They ve probably saved me hundreds if not thousands. Helps that they have great taste in beer, too!

I initially had left a 2 star review for this location and service provider. However, upon notifying Tim that there were a hand full of issues with my experience of their services at the time, he fully rectified the situation. I have now changed my review to 5 stars as the customer service outweighed the trouble I experienced. I will attempt to bring my vehicle back to this location upon it needing any further work; as Tim s willingness to rectify the situation and his customers dissatisfaction was profound. It is not common to come across an establishment these days that takes the time to listen to the customers concerns pertaining to service and then go above and beyond to rectify. As I said I will be giving this location another chance when I come across further car repair needs in the future. I would now recommend this shop to anyone I come across due to their attention to customer service.Services: Steering & suspension repair, Brakes

I highly recommend this repair shop. My daughter goes to college in the metro area and suffered an engine failure. I worked remotely with Tim and coordinated the tow and appointment to the shop. He was very pleasant, communicative, and sympathetic.What I appreciate most of all was his honesty with the assessment. Ultimately, because of the VW engine, they were not able to repair the issue. But we kept in contact and he offered suggestions when it needed to be taken to a dealership for repair. I was grateful to be able to ask him for a second opinion when the dealship presented their diagnosis.He went above and beyond with his customer service.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

Fantastic customer service! Timely, quality work at a fair price and great communication. My daughter's car broke down on a Wednesday night, before she was going to move out of state on Saturday (5-1/2 hour drive). We had the car towed to Nelson's in Dinkytown, and left a note and voicemail for follow up. Before 8:30 the next morning they explained the problem(s) clearly/professionally and provided a cost estimate for the parts and labor, as well as assurance that they could have the work done by the next day. Nelson's completed the work earlier than expected, no surprises, the final cost was less than the estimate, and the car is working great. Overall, one of the best auto repair experiences I've had.

I live in the area and had my second interacting here at Nelson's and my first repair. Took my car in thinking I blew the transmission and it turned out to be my car axle instead. They had it done about 4 hours are I dropped it off. Love Tim, he makes it feel so fun and upbeat to work their. Will be returning.
