Derek & Nelson's Auto Repair on Lyndale has always been my family's go-to crew for our car needs. Reasonably priced, excellent communication, and very accommodating with my hectic schedule. They clearly describe what's happening with my vehicle and if they can't fix an issue (my transmission failed) they referred me to a different (yet not as incredible since nobody can beat Nelson's) facility to get the work done well.I also love that they're located right on a bus line so I can easily get to and from their location.

LOVE Nelson s in Uptown! They have incredible customer service and seem really committed to making their customers happy. Tyler is awesome, and on top of making me feel informed about my car, he also went above and beyond to connect me to resources and was so friendly. I will never take my car anywhere else!!!

My experience at Nelson s Auto Repair was SO GREAT. We noticed today that the skid plate was falling off, called, and they said come over now ! The whole visit took under 20 minutes, everyone was so nice, and the price was very cheap. Definitely will be back.

Came in for the first time after moving nearby and they were able to solve my car problem in just an hour. They re reasonably priced and fast workers, will start coming here every time I need help with my car!

My car broke down while I was out of town, and Derrick and the staff at Nelson's not only recognized my major issue, both with the vehicle and being out of state, but they went above and beyond to find the parts needed for the repair and to give me an honest and open price. True lifesavers and genuinely honest professionals. Thank you so very much. I made the three hour drive back home safe and sound. Support this business! You'll be glad that you did.

This was hand downs the best experience I have ever had with a car auto shop. I am brand new to Minneapolis and know no one yet so I went off reviews and I am so glad I did. Took my Chevy in just see what exactly was wrong and not only did they figure out the issue they corrected a few others while they were in there. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and very considerate and kind in explaining technical car issues to people such as myself who have no idea lol. I truly won t be taking my car anywhere else.

I love going to Nelson s ! I go for all my maintenance and fixes. They are honest, do a great job, I ve never felt talked down to or felt over charged or scammed. There was even once they did a job that a different shop quoted me close to $800 and nelsons did it for half as much. Forever customer

When my wife and I lived in uptown, Nelson s was the obvious choice for auto repair/maintenance. We have since moved to Richfield, and struggled to find a mechanic we liked. Recently we needed some work done and thought, why not go back to Nelson s? They ve always been up front and honest with us and remain so to this day. No matter where you live in the Twin City s area, Nelson s is the place to go!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Nelson s Auto shop to get my car checked for some issues I was experiencing. I have to say, I was thoroughly impressed with the level of service I received from the team there.First and foremost, I found the staff to be very honest and transparent about what needed to be done with my car. They took the time to explain the issues they found and provided me with clear recommendations for what repairs were necessary and what could wait. I never felt like I was being pressured into getting unnecessary work done, which was a refreshing change from some other auto shops I've been to.Additionally, the mechanics at Nelson s Auto shop were extremely intelligent and knowledgeable about their craft. They were able to quickly diagnose the problem with my car and come up with a plan of action to fix it. I felt confident in their abilities and trusted that they would get the job done right.Overall, I highly recommend Nelson s Auto shop to anyone in need of car repairs. Their honest and intelligent approach to auto repair is a rare find in the industry, and I appreciate the peace of mind that comes with knowing my car is in good hands with them.

I ve come here for oil changes for about 2 years and they re always so fast and reliable, so when my rear window got smashed I came to them. Derrick gave me a super reasonable price, gave me really timely updates, and is just overall such a lovely human to do business with. I recommend Nelson s to everyone. My brother even called for an issue with his car, and Derrick just told him some troubleshooting he could do on his own prior to bringing it in to save the time and money. 10/10Service: Auto rear window replacement

I have had great service everytime I went to see Nelson's. The first time they told me I should go to the dealer because it could be a bigger issue. That was very honest. I went there 2 other times for tire repair and they were fast and friendly. Today I could not get my tire inflated and he came out to the car and put in air. (It was my operator error). As a female it is nice to have a place that will always help and very fair on cost.

I have been a customer of Nelson's for 3 years now. Derek, the store manager, is one of the nicest guys around. He will give you an honest assessment of your vehicle's urgent and future repairs and offers the best pricing in town. He sneaks my vehicles in on short notice & his employees get the work done FAST and CORRECT. I could not recommend a local repair shop more than Nelson's.Services: Air & cabin filter replacement, General repairs & maintenance, Battery

I ve been to Nelson s twice now, and both times I have received excellent service! I am beyond impressed with the care and professionalism I received. The first time was lights replacement and the second time I needed a window wiper bolt tightened. They got me in right away before a snow storm, free of charge! I called a few places before and they did not have availability and quoted me a price for tightening the bolt. Nelson s have been able to get me in right away with very timely service. Regardless of service, their prices are very affordable. I would recommend this shop to all of my friends and family!! Thank you Nelson s for your genuine, professional and AMAZING staff. I will be returning if anything else goes wrong with my car!

This is my first time coming to any auto repair location, and let me tell you. The experience here is impeccable, customer support is second to none. All of the employees are very friendly, and the service time is swift. A very special thanks to the manager Derrick for the hospitality and making me feel comfortable and for his overall professionalism. The customer service and care here was amazing! I have tried at least 5 auto repair shops in the city since getting a used car last summer, and this has been the only truly positive experience I've had. Very happy with Doug and the crew at Nelson's. They got me back up and running quickly and at a fair price. Warrantied work with friendly and courteous service. Great to have them in the neighborhood!*Follow up- Just picked up my car from Nelson's yesterday. This was my third experience with Nelson's. Nelson's Auto Repair is my go-to auto shop in the Twin Cities. The level of professionalism is unmatched compared to previous shops I've been to over the years. The General Manager, Derrick was incredibly professional and returned my call within minutes of me calling when they opened at 7 am. Derrick was able to get me into the shop that same day to work on my splash shield.Derrick called to let me know that they discovered that my rear brakes were in need of replacing and he was 100% upfront and honest about everything. He explained what had happened and gave his best recommendation without any pressure to go ahead with the repair. I agreed and his team were able to fix my splash shield and rear brakes within a few hours. Speedy service and a very professional team and auto shop. I highly recommend them. The whole team deserves raises for their customer service, attention to details and professionalism.I've always liked this shop and have recommended it even during the time Doug was the General Manager. Clearly, the shop cares about its customers and bringing in Derrick was an excellent decision. Kudos to everyone. Thank you.Service: Brakes

I've been to Nelson's Uptown a few times and I love it! Derek, a mechanic, did a great job at explaining what he did and how my car is doing. Derek went out of his way to go through everything on my car, and was very kind about hanging around when other factors were affecting my ability to pick up my car after it was finished. Can t even begin to express how impressed I am with Nelson s. I ve been having power steering problems for 2ish years, and Nelson s replaced basically everything. They were efficient, honest, treated me with respect, and gave me great prices with a great warranty. Derrick and his crew will help you get back on the road. They had same day availability and charged half of what I expected to pay from other auto shops. Parts are billed at what appears to be retail prices and they didn't try to upsell me on any additional services. It is always easier to write a bad review than a good one. Please take any negative review of Nelson's with a grain of salt. Doug is great! The mechanics were great! Brought my Audi in for a fuel pump repair and new tires. I have worked in the automotive industry for over 16 years. Didn't want to tow my car to the dealership I worked for. Nelsons being so close to my home, I took it here. They were fair priced and did an excellent job. I recommend Nelsons to anyone looking for good customer service, fair pricing and quality work.
