I recently took my Mitsubishi Outlander to Kennedy Transmission for a CVT transmission rebuild. They did a fantastic job the car is running smoothly and feels brand new again. But what truly impressed me was their commitment to customer service. After the rebuild, I encountered a separate issue with the transmission (not related to their work). Kennedy Transmission could have easily pointed the finger elsewhere, but instead, they went above and beyond. They covered the cost of towing my car back to their shop and took care of the warranty work on the original repair at no additional charge. This kind of dedication to customer satisfaction is rare these days. Not only is Kennedy Transmission highly skilled in transmission repair, but their genuine care for their customers makes them a true stand-out. They have earned my trust and my continued business.

Great service! Very honest! Went in for transmission work on my jeep compass. Earlier this month. There was a miscommunication about what was done and what I was charged for. They called me IMMEDIATELY to fill me in on what happened and get me right! Not a lot of places would do that. I appreciate the work and honesty of the people who run the place. Also, my jeep is running like I just bought it! I would absolutely recommend Kennedy transmission to friends and family!

I was really skeptical of bringing my vehicles anywhere on Lake street but the really great reviews on Google maps won me over! I ve been really impressed by the service and pricing over a wide range of different repairs and services, really glad to have found a place close to home that I can trust to do good work and I can refer to others!

They charged me few hundreds $$ more for what was done on my car comparing to other place. I was not comfortable how I was treated there as a non-white race. Will not return.

Sure you live in Minneapolis so it's tempting to lean into being a hipster by taking your car with a transmission problem to a shop with cats in the lobby. But taking a car with a transmission problem to another local shop is like going to a proctologist for a sore throat. Trust your car with someone who knows the specifics of these CVTs what to expect and what it really takes to repair/replace it otherwise you're looking at spending $14k more at a local shop.

Believe me it s worth every penny of urs . My transmission had a shifting issue and I was told to change and buy a new one which could cost me 8k. I brought to Kennedy transmission, they looked and tasted it , they recommended cleaning it and changing oil which worked perfectly, till this day it s driving fabulously.

Matt and Mark and Randy,(I believe?)are top notch. They serviced my older Rav4 transmission in a complete and professional manner and communicated, very well, what procedures were completed, and answered other questions I had above and beyond what was expected! Diagnosis and repair of todayshigh tech transmissions requires a lot of technical knowledge, high level diagnostic skills, expensive equipment, and most importantly, patient and clear communication skills.Kennedy Transmission East Lake seems to consistently get high marks in all these areas.

I have brought cars to Kennedy for over 10 years and I have always had a good experience. They are personable, timely, and work hard to make sure you know exactly what is wrong with your vehicle. They have always given me accurate estimates for costs and their rates are affordable. I highly recommend this shop.

I appreciate how respectful the employees are and I appreciate the super detailed explanations of everything that needed to be fixed with my car. Even though I decided to not sink anymore money into repairing my car, the staff were really friendly and didn't try to push a sale on me. I really recommend this shop for a very thorough, honest, and professional look over of your car.Service: Transmission

Speaking with Blaze at this location,Trying to find a reputable place to have a simple solenoid replaced is getting to be an arm and a leg they all want to charge you $200.00 $300 to diagnose your vehicle and then try to find other things that they need to "fix" to try to charge you even more money. When I told the gentleman at Kennedy Transmission he said well I'll have to diagnose it and make sure that is all that is needed and I know what is needed because it's already been diagnosed he hung up so I would not use this place because they are just simply trying to get your money money money money. If anybody knows a reputable shop please let me know because I am not going to sit and pay another $200 to have it diagnosed when all it needs is to be the solenoid replaced that's it. I called back to try to talk to the manager oh he just so happens to be out of the office but they still want to look at it so they can charge me to $300 to diagnose what's already been diagnosed thank you if I have to I'll wait until summer and do it myself oh my God it's so hard to find a reputable company in this town I do not like to be haggled I was not born yesterday my friends

I write this review on the same day I pick up my car. I am utterly satisfied so far. So, if my review is still up, Matt deserves all the five stars. I wasted time and money at another shop that could not resolve my issue. I then went to Kennedy, and they fixed my car in two and a half days. Frankly, the labor costs are quite high, but it is worth every cent. They will have my business from now on.

Went there to get my car s transmission fixed and they were amazing people, welcoming and trustworthy. They stand behind their work and take their times to get things done right. And the warranty on their work is really good, meaning that they work hard and do it right in the first place. Prices are really good and even if they are a bit higher it s worth it to get a job from people who do it right and care for the customer.Went there to also change trans fluid on mother one of my cars. Got it done for $126.If you want a good job done and done right go there.Would recommend!

My transmission on my truck recently went out, my gut told me to tow it to Kennedy, but I went to a local shop. After the other (shop) ridicules amount quoted and $250 later, I called Kennedy, and after speaking with Matt, I knew that my gut was right and I needed to tow the vehicle to Kennedy. They even covered the tow cost.I am 47 and consider my self very knowledgeable about cars and trucks (Thanks Dad). They did a great job and have no doubts my truck will get several hundreds of thousands of miles more. Matt was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I can say enough about the confidence I had after talking with him.I also spoke with Mark when he called me to confirm diagnostics and again extremely helpful and knowledgeable.Don t mess around take your vehicle to Kennedy for a job done right! Kennedy, I suggest you take care of your team and retain these guys, you can t replace this expertise. Thanks, Terry

Matt and Mark. Dear friends who are seeking a transmission repair shop. Look no further. I am a guy who loves cars. These people feel the same way as me. I was worried about mishandling my repair. With this I'll wrap it up. This will say it all.... I trust these guys.

This place is fantastic. I receive a high quality experience every time. They only do the work that is necessary, and they do it well and as inexpensively as they can. But they never take shortcuts and are clear when something is a safety issue. Everyone that works there is very respectful and professional AND they have a sense of humor! I ve been going for years and have never been disappointed and have witnessed others getting the same treatment.

Mark and Matt and their team have a grateful customer in me, for as long as I'm in Minneapolis. For a total auto novice like me, it's hard to find a trusted mechanic. The Kennedy team has earned my trust, over the course of several repairs. I've got an oddball Jetta Hybrid, with an even more oddball transmission, which most shops in the area I've contacted have said they won't touch, due to unfamiliarity with it.But the team at Kennedy has gone to great lengths and done a considerable amount of research to get me back on the road when I've had issues with it, even digging into obscure materials when necessary, beyond the normal documentation provided by Volkswagen. And they've been incredibly generous in doing so, calling it a learning opportunity on their part, rather than something they've passed on to me in billing. They've made sure the repairs are done right, and they've repeatedly followed up with me afterwards to ensure that. I can't recommend them more highly!Service: Transmission

Great experience with Kennedy!I had my car towed here a month ago after a loud bang stopped my car while driving. Feared it might have been a transmission issue, but turned out to be a broken front axle. They had it repaired and back in my hands within the day for much less than I feared it would cost!I talked with both Matt and Mark who were super friendly and helpful taking time to explain the issue to me and eagerly answering all my questions! I had a great experience and my car has been running great since the repair.

Used them once before many years ago and was happy. Brought them my 2013 Subaru Forester because it was making a whining noise that I was sure was from the transmission and was ready to pay a big bill. Got a call from them mid-day to say they heard the noise but determined it was coming from an idler pulley and not the transmission (a MUCH easier and cheaper fix). I am grateful for their honesty, for treating me with respect, for not talking down to me and for good work.

I was having trouble with my vehicle, and Kennedy Transmission was great to work with. In trying to determine where to bring my Jeep Commander, these folks were the best. I made contact with 3-4 places and Kennedy-Mpls emailed back sooner than I ever expected with the most comprehensive information and knowledge. Matt has been amazing and provided me with information before I ever brought my vehicle to them, when I picked it up and even after the service was completed. They asked a lot of questions and provided great service and care. I trust them, would go back to them and rely on them with any of my vehicle needs!

My transmission was done here last summer and it's still shifting smoothly. They did a great job upfront letting me know how much it was going to cost and how long it would take - then they actually finished it a bit early! I put a couple thousand on it and it's still like a brand new car. I would recommend these guys to anyone who needs transmission work.

After being told by the dealership that my mother's 2004 Chevy needs a new transmission to the tune of $3,600, I began calling around. A couple of transmission shops gave me a price of around $2,500 to fix it, but Matt at Kennedy told me that this particular transmission generally does not need a rebuild (only 75,000 miles, but it would not move in drive at all). I had it towed to them and they diagnosed the issue as a cracked pipe inside the transmission. They repaired the pipe and even saved it to show my mother and I. The total repair was less than $500 and the car drives perfectly. The service from Matt and Mark was excellent and they were an absolute pleasure to deal with. Some of the nicest people I have ever met!

I recommend the Lake Street Kennedy shop if you have any issue, big or small. I've used them a few times for light general repairs with success, but recently needed an engine replacement and was overwhelmed by how thorough, quick and detailed they were. Leo and Bruce are a credit to their profession.Knowing it was a big job for me to understand, they walked me through step by step, making sure that even before we started, other major mechanical parts(transmission) were in good shape, making my investment in a different engine worth while. These guys are super detailed, and meticulous, and I have found they only replace the parts that need replacing.Seriously, these guys are pro's. It seems they have a steady business from repeat customers which really says it all.

AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE! I was having issues with another transmission shop and called up Kennedy Transmission for a second opinion. The guy on the phone (I think his name is Mark) took the time to ease my mind about the bad situation my car was in and gave me GREAT advice. I really appreciate his honesty and definitely recommend their services!

Went in with a suspected transmission issue from late winter, but after thorough discussion and having no check engine light were advised to go to a shop that would address our tire and exhaust issues. Very kind and thoughtful questions and clear communication from their front desk folx.

I took in my 2013 wrangler to have the front assembly and some other work done. I was so happy with the results and just to sum it up their work ethic and the customer service that Mark and Matt provided is not something I can describe in words. And for some reson I felt like family there. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND FIRST TIMERS TO TRY THESE GUYS AND YOU DEFINITELY WON'T BE DISAPPOINTEDALI

I was referred here by my long time service writer (and neighbor) at a local dealership. The owners were very thorough and good to deal with. Overall a great experience and saved me about $1000.00 on a top notch rebuild.

My recent experience was not the best, I took my car and after they charge me 150.00 dollars I ended up with no diagnose at all. they say they need to disassemble the whole thing and will cost me anything between 2500.00 and 5600.00, to me that is a little bit of an odd price range. I expected them to be able to diagnose my transmission and tell me what was wrong with it, since they are experts and should be able to find out. but again I am out 150.00 and still don't know what is wrong with my carWhile they might be friendly, they certainly have no idea about transmissions, and they suppose to be certified techs... sorry that was my experience

{response to shop reply: I apologize for not raising my voice or whatever you needed to show I was upset, I thought that would be counterproductive. Perhaps you should revisit with Mark what he told me, because he never told me that separate charge thing about the ABS, nor did he mention the words Transfer Case Control Module when he told me what was broken. Those were very important details. Had those things happened, we would not be here now. In fact, i would have moved forward with the ABS repair. I still dont think you understand why I am disappointed in my experience with your shop. Its communication, not expense. You personally never said a thing about remanufactured parts or warranty of said parts. Honestly, I dont care about use of remanufactured parts, i care about that you ensured me it was an OEM part and it wasnt. Also, you called ONE time and left a message simply to call you back, nothing more. I did not return the call because I feel like you had two chances to make it right already and didnt, and I was moving on. Your focus on what everyone else charges for this is misplaced, I was going to fix it myself when i knew what the problem was. }Was referred to kennedy when my repair shop couldn't figure out problem. Dropped Ranger off at shop open, didnt hear from them until i called at 20 min to close to find out the 4x4 didnt work because of a "broken circuit board" and they could fix it tomorrow. Okd repair for $575(!), and when I inquired about ABS was told it was another $100 to diagnose that. Despite me asking for both repairs when I dropped it off. I declined that. They called the next day when it was done, but It was after hours when i could pick up the truck, so i paid via credit card on the phone and asked them to leave the replaced part with the invoice. Was told they couldn't leave me the part because it had to be returned for recycling, unless I paid them an additional $185. When i picked up the truck later, I saw the part replaced was the Transfer Case Control Module, and charged $316.16 for it, $90 for labor, and the $120 diagnostics fee. I know the part costs about half that at any parts store, and literally takes 5 minutes to replace, so i called to ask the service manager about it. He assured me that the part was from the Ford dealership, and that it was a quality repair, and that the dealership would charge me over $850 for this repair. Didnt seem to get that I was questioning why I was told the repair was different from what on the invoice, not the part quality. His solution was for me to bring my truck back for them to swap the parts back out and refund me the cost of the control module. I agreed to that, but I decided to take the part out myself and bring it back to save time. Lo and behold, I find the replaced part was a remanufactured aftermarket part that can be purchased for $102, and NOT a dealership part at all. I called Rosedale Ford to confirm manufacturer information and part numbers, they sell it for $289. I ordered the OEM part for $145 online, which i installed in less than 5 minutes. I returned their part to them and was refunded the money. They didnt make a big deal out of it, and neither did I but I was very deeply disappointed in this experience.
