I may have already left a review a couple years ago, so I m back to say that this business cares about their employees AND their customers.The owner drove me home once when my car needed to stay overnight, and he was ready to pick me up the next morning.Doug is no longer there but the owner and Edgar update me on how he s doing when I call to check in.And every single time I ve brought my dog, she s been loved up on.Good people.Trustworthy.So glad I found them.

Helped my partner fix our new flat tire! We were so scared about costs (first time dealing with a flat) and they were so so sweet about everything. They even fixed/adjusted our breaks for free, and noticed some other issues with our Nissan and gave us estimates for them.They were very upfront with costs, very clear with explaining parts, and made us feel welcome and safe. If you are looking for a mechanic who won't talk down to you this is the place to go. Highly recommend!

I came in for an oil change before a road trip, and Edgar noticed my loud muffler. He ended up fixing it up with some spare parts FOR FREE. I was sold a lemon with a fuel tank that was leaking and falling apart. Green Garage replaced it with a brand new tank and now I am finally able to drive it around safely. I needed this vehicle for my small business and I am happy that the service didn't take long at all. Edgar is extremely kind and knowledgeable; I plan on going back to finish a few more repairs and for regular maintenance. Thank you Green Garage, you helped turn a terrible situation around into a safe and manageable one. I have immense gratitude.

My daughter's car needed to be fixed after it was stolen. Edger helped with every step of the repair. Keeping us updated with the repair. And they went the extra mile to get the car back up and running quicker then I thought it was going to take. Thank you all so much for the awesome service you provided!

Thank you so much Nelson s for always being the absolute best! I ve been bringing my cars here since moving to the neighborhood. They are always so welcoming and helpful on the phone and flexible about drop-off and pick-up. For example, today I was able to bring my car by immediately when I got a nail right before the weekend (of course). They got it done right away and then I was able to pick it up a few hours later when I was done with work. I highly recommend people check out this great neighborhood place!

Green Garage has saved the day for me two different times, the second time being today when I discovered my catalytic converter was stolen. They got me a part and an installation for half the price anyone else quoted me and I drove my car home about four hours later. They even threw in a new battery and labor. They are very friendly and communicative and great about showing and explaining what s going on with your car. I trust this place immensely, and my wife and I agree this is where we will always bring our cars whenever possible.

Fantastic service, very friendly and broke the things they were doing down simply and directly. I don't know much about cars so I'm always nervous that I'll be talked down to about repairs, but they were straightforward and respectful. The repairs were done that day, and less expensive than I expected. Everything about this business was great!

I love working with this team. They are positive and friendly, communicate clearly what is going on with my car, and are very reasonably priced. I felt I was treated with honesty and respect, and they went so far as to show me what the problems were. Other than what I can do myself, I can t see working with any other team of mechanics.

Update: July 10, 2019:My experience with Nelson's Garage (Green Garage) did a 180-degree turn for the better. I am incredibly satisfied with the service provided by Nelson's Garage (Green Garage)-East Hennepin Ave location. I had a very honest, open, productive conversation with Nick Nelson owner of Nelson's Garage-Green Garage. Once he read my initial review he contacted me by phone and asked how he could make my experience with his auto repair shop better. I explained the issues I had with the Nicollet Ave-Green Garage/Nelson's Garage location and he graciously offered to see if he could get my 1997 Ford F-150 Truck fixed, no charge to me. I was stunned. This isn't something you get from local mechanic shops but Nick wanted his shop to stand out in the neighborhood and the community.I scheduled to drop my truck off to the East Hennepin location and coordinated things with Tim, the manager who by the way is a great person to talk to and work with on your vehicle. To the defense of Caleb and the team at the Nicollet Ave location, the problem that was finally diagnosed was something a bit beyond the knowledge level of that team. This took a seasoned, veteran mechanic who has seen this issue before to diagnose and potentially fix.Note: To Nick Nelson, it would be good ideas to have all locations coordinate a knowledge base when one location is faced with a diagnosis like my truck. Get help from the other shops. This bolsters the strength of Nelson's Garage in all locations.Nick's team went above and beyond to make my experience productive, respectful and I am forever grateful to them for that. Nick refunded all of the money I had already spent with them at the other garage trying to diagnose my truck issue. I know what is wrong with my truck, I can take steps to get it fixed or sell it. Knowledge is power and Nick Nelson and Nelson's Garage gave me the power I needed.There are not many shops that would offer to refund all of your money and diagnose your problem at a low to minimum charge. Not many mechanic shop owners with the character, integrity, honorability, respect to provide the service he provided me. This is rare in the world and rare in the Twin Cities area for auto repair shops.Nick's business is based on his ethics, values, character, and morals and from my experience they are top notch. People should not take for granted that auto repair shops like Nelson's Garage are a dime a dozen, they are NOT!Many of the "Mom and Pop" auto repair shops are being priced out, bullied out, by the city of Minneapolis, by unethical developers buying up properties and buying off politicians to hurt small business owners like Nick Nelson and Nelson's Garage. We as a community need to stand with and financially support our neighborhood auto repair shops because if we don't all that will remain are the dealer repair shops where you overpay for the shiny new building and lounge area they have.If you feel you had a bad experience with one of Nelson's Garage locations I strongly encourage you to contact Nick Nelson before leaving a negative/bad review. I wish I had. Nelson's Garage will get my business even if I live on the other side of town or in the suburbs its well worth it.My initial review was less than 1 star because I left Green Garage without a clear diagnosis and out $288-$60 refunded initially. Nick Nelson, Nelson's Garage team have changed it to a 5 star review rating.________________________________________________________________________

I have brought 3 of my vehicles here over the course of the last 3 or 4 years and I will not go anywhere else at this point. I have mechanics in my family so when I cannot fix something myself- this is my go-to spot. They have never gouged me for prices and will do as much or as little as you need.Doug and Edgar have been extremely helpful and realistic when dealing with the various issues I've come across with my older used cars. Never demeaning, never short tempered, and always a pleasure to work with. I CANNOT SUGGEST THEM ENOUGH! I love green garage. These guys are the best. My car died in a parking lot and Nelson s green garage was awesome! Helped me get it towed down to the garage and quickly got it in to look at it to make repairs at a fair price. Extremely happy with the service and would gladly recommend or use them again although I hope I don t need to!

I called in and asked if he'd be able to check if I had a blown head gasket which might br the reason I'm losing coolant in my prius and he said the test would cost between 300-400 just to determine if it's blown.. if you Google it the whole kit costs 30 bucks

Since I was unable to use their loaner while my car was in the shop (it was being used by another client) and I ended up missing work, they comped my repairs because they had had my vehicle for so long, which was by no means their fault. I will always bring my vehicles here. I called the day before Christmas Eve during a historic blizzard and Edgar willingly slotted me in to help me get my windshield wipers looked at. He let me know that in warmer weather he would have gladly driven me back to my place. And was so friendly and accommodating. Then he blew me away by letting me know that he adjusted the windshield wiper bolts and charged me nothing for labor or time. He definitely did not have to do that! This place is a real gem! Thank you so much Green Garage!!!

I brought my car in for a wheel alignment, they suggested I also rotate my tires since my rear treads were better than the front on my front wheel drive vehicle. Long story short, my worst case scenario of having to replace parts due to some seized lugs didn't come true as they were able to coax them off with a little extra attention and know how; saved me almost $400 in extra parts. I would recommend them if anyone were to ask me.Service: Steering & suspension repair

I've recommended green garage to everyone I know. I'll never take a car anywhere else. Doug and team know how to take care of you like no other shop I've been to. I've taken American, European, and Asian cars there for a variety of services and every time have been thoroughly satisfied with the level of knowledge and craftsmanship the team brings. 10/10 every time.

I am very satisfied with the service done at Nelson s Green Garage.I just took my car in to get a rack and pinion and fuel line replacement. I initially was in a money crunch and they were willing to work with me (though I was able to pay in full). Additionally, when my car was done, I didn t have a source of transportation and Doug set me up with a ride there despite living 15 minutes away. I was taken aback by how courteous they were with the whole experience. My car drives the best it has in so long. Would definitely recommend this shop if you re not too sure where to take your car. Honest and valuable. Thank you.

Doug and his team were impeccable with their customer and auto services, promptness, and communication. The pricing for repair and additional services was affordable and reasonable. I had to drop it off a second time to tighten up a heat valve (or something) that was making rickety noises under the vehicle, and Doug and his team fixed it in less than 30 minutes and my car is now driving and sounding peacefully. Overall, I am very satisfied and confident in Green Garage's quality attention to my vehicle maintenance and repair needs.I highly recommend their services.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Oil change

I went here for the first time today. Our car had gotten stuck in a snow drift in a blizzard and was packed with ice and snow. We thought for sure it had been damaged so we took it to Green Garage. They thawed out the car and carefully chipped all the ice away from the inside. Since there was no damage other than everything being frozen, they were kind enough to not charge us. We we so appreciative and I will be returning here in the future!Service: Auto maintenance

Green Garage is raising the bar on auto repair, customer service, and being the coolest mechanically minded cats in Minneapolis. Came in after all the winter snow and ice knocked off my underbody cover and it was dragging on the road. They took it off in 10 minutes, told me my options, but when it came to payment they wouldn't let me pay em a dime. Wow. Shout-out to Edgar and the rest of the Green Garage crew, I'll be back to give you all of my business!

Had a flat tire and was in a pinch, these guys were able to fit me in as soon as I called and got the job done. I was here once before for a battery issue and they inspected it free of charge. I m not one to write reviews, but my recent experience with Doug at Green Garage was so seamless and awesome, that I feel obligated to do so!I have lived in the uptown area for years and have never found a shop I ve been happy with, until now. From start to finish, the process was not nearly as painful as expected, especially for us gals who are a little out of our element in an auto shop. Engaging and accommodating, Doug and his brand of customer service, plus quirky humor, made the experience almost fun! The ease and timeliness of scheduling an appointment, the offer of a loaner vehicle, straightforward quote & information, topped by very reasonable pricing, all make for a happy return customer. I really want to thank Doug, Nick and the guys at Green Garage for coming to my rescue again. This was not the first time this summer I needed my car towed to the shop. I'm sure they are tired of seeing me car . But no matter what they always make the time to fix it as quickly and affordable as they can. That is the only place I will take my car and I highly recommend you do the same. They are all an awesome bunch. Thanks again for everything you have done for me!!
