I don t give out many reviews, not because I don t want to but more so because I have a gaggle of children to keep me busy. This place is AMAZING. They go above and beyond to help you out.First, they did my brakes on both my cars, which was at a totally reasonable price and jobs well done!Two months later, my wife calls me from the parking garage of MOA stating the van died. I call up these guys. They give me the name of a towing company who helps us get out of the parking garage and then tows it to their shop for a very reasonable price. They diagnose the issue and have it fixed same day. They replaced my alternator and serpentine belt for a completely reasonable price.I can t say enough good things about these guys. When you find a good business, take the time to heap praise their way, and this is a GREAT business. Thankful for these guys.

I recently moved into the Prospect Park neighborhood and was looking for a mechanic to replace both rear wheel bearings on my Subaru Forester. I chose Great Brakes based on the excellent customer reviews. All the well deserved 5 star reviews are correct. Worku Mogus is amazing - friendly customer service, knowledgeable mechanic, fast and efficient work. But above all he is an honest man with an excellent work ethic. His prices are very reasonable too. His estimate was lower than I expected for this kind of job. And in the end, the final bill was slightly less than his own estimate despite the bolts on my wheel hubs being locked up from age and requiring extra work to remove. I highly recommend Great Brakes!

I read the reviews before I went to Great Brakes and let me tell you, the reviews are correct. I had a really bad leak in my radiator. Went to Great Brakes and asked if he could take a look at it. Not only did he do that, but he was able to get my car in to do the repairs the same day. He quoted me an affordable price. I was so shocked, because every where else was super expensive. My car was ready the next day and has been running great. I will definitely go back and recommend this place to family and friends.

Been going here for years, Worku always does great work and has great prices! My truck wouldn't start, Ithought it was the starter and I had it towed here. They got it done the next day, and it was much cheaper than what other places would have charged! Definitely made me a customer for life with their great service, highly recommend this place to anyone who needs work done on their vehicle!Service: Auto engine diagnostic

Best shop in the twin cities! Warku is an amazing mechanic and does work at unbeatable prices. I have never had anyone come close to his prices. Very trustworthy I never have had any doubts about any work that he has done. We have used him for 15 years as our family mechanic. He has sold us cars that were very reliable and mechanically sound.

There is no better shop in the cities for light to medium car repair. Worku is truly a gem. He is honest, upfront and amazingly affordable. I have been going there for almost 10 years over the span of 3 cars. There is nowhere else I am going to go.

As a single woman, I have experienced car repair shops trying to rip me off about pricing (some have succeeded because I didn t know any better), Worku has always given me fair pricing, and has shown me the work that he has done once the job is complete. He can get busy because his work is so good so you may want to call ahead of time. This is my first car and he has even taught me some things about cars and what to look out for when it comes to repairs. I recommend him to everyone!

Worku is the best mechanic I've ever had and I will never go to anyone else. Not only is he an incredible person in general, but he is an excellent and honest mechanic. He's helped me out multiple times with multiple different cars and he has always been able to solve the problem and provides the best possible service and experience for the customer. I recommend him to everyone I know. Also, I feel the need to say that as a woman I am very used to getting disrespected or taken advantage of by men mechanics, and I never feel that way with Worku which is one of the reasons why I would never want to go to another mechanic again. 10/10, highly recommend.Services: Brakes, Oil change

Worku is hands-down the most honest mechanic I've met, he went above and beyond my expectations for both the work he did, and the price he provided. Wow, best auto shop I've ever used!! Worku is such a kind man with a welcoming smile and helpful attitude. He has fair prices and walks you out to your car to show you the work he's done. I am DEFINITELY going back here for all of my auto service needs. I would highly recommend Great Brakes to all!

I have taken my truck there two times now. First time, Worku fixed a broken brake cylinder; the next time he repaired the front end ball joints and control arms. His work was very good both times. Prices were reasonable. Customer service very good. If you need repairs he's a good person to go to.

Worku is the awesomest, and for about the last decade and a half so far, I tell everyone I can to go to him. He's great at his job, he is verrrrry fairly priced, he's nice, he always explains everything, and you never have to worry that he'd pull any kind of shenanigans that maybe you've experienced at some other places. He's the kind of mechanic everyone wishes they could find, and here he is! Worku forever!

This is a full service auto repair shop (not just brakes). I've been bringing my cars here for years. It's a great alternative to high priced dealer shops. They have sent me to a dealer if its a problem involving certain software upgrade issues. It's a great first stop and quick fix at half to three quarters of what a dealer will charge. I've really come to appreciate and trust them over the years.

Worku is the absolute best mechanic. My husband and I have been taking our cars here for years, and like other reviewers have said, we fully intend to keep bringing our cars here if/when we eventually move out of the neighborhood. I have never met a more kind, friendly and honest mechanic.A while back I parked my car at work in a nearby suburb and my car wouldn't start when I tried to leave at lunch. I immediately called Worku. He got in touch with one of his contacts, had my car towed to his shop for an extremely reasonable price and had completed the work by the end of the day.I normally don't write reviews, but I cannot recommend this shop highly enough.

This guy is awesome! I was not able to drive my car because the alternator wasn't working; to save me a tow, he came himself to help me get the car to his shop (without charging any extra). I could tell that he really cared about me and wanted to help me out. On top of that, his prices were great. The total cost was over $100 less than the other estimates I got and that was with replacing the serpentine belt! AND he did the job quickly so I was able to make it see the rest of my clients for the day. Overall a great guy and great mechanic!

Worku (the main mechanic) could not be a friendlier, more generous person. He consistently goes above and beyond in customer service to get me the best price and the shortest turn around for his service. Good work, honest assessment, and great deals- pretty hard to beat that.

Highly recommended. Never pushes for unnecessary fixes. Budget friendly and the customer service is what sets them apart. Worku is very professional and he is really good at what he does.

Worku is the best! He was the only person I took my car to when I lived in St. Paul. I've since moved to Wisconsin and can't find a mechanic anywhere around here with the kind of service and fair pricing that Worku offered. I recommend him to everyone I know.

Since moving back to Minneapolis about 12 years ago, I ve taken every vehicle I ve ever owned to Great Brakes. Anything from engine issues, transmission work, muffler replacement, and of course, all things brake related. They re extremely honest and always give you options before doing any work, sometimes going as far as to just tell you how to make the repair yourself. I ve recommended probably two dozen people here and every single one has come back with a glowing review.

Worku is the man! He's always taken my car last minute when I've been in a panic with something going wrong. I walk in and I'm always greeted while a smile and "my friend!" Great prices, so friendly, and all around a genuinely good guy. I won't bring my car anywhere else and I make sure to tell all of my friends to go to him.

I've gone to chains for years, playing coupon games to get a "deal" but Worku was the best price I've seen. Beyond that, his work is great, he charges cost for parts, and he does it all with a smile. My mechanic of choice.

If you have any brake-related issues or light car maintenance, take your car to Worku. He is the nicest and most honest mechanic, with fair prices and great work. I came in with a clutch issue and was told that he couldn't be certain that the problem was completely fixed, so he told me to come back in three months and only pay if the issue had gone away, otherwise he would keep working on it.

Things are a little more laid back here than other mechanics, the office reminds me of my childhood living room. Estimates are pretty vague but the work is affordable, done right and not beyond the scope of what needs to be done. Would bring my car back in a heartbeat.
