This is THE best repair shop to go to in the Twin Cities! All the staff treat every customer like family and offer fair prices for the outstanding service that gets performed on your vehicle. I have gone there 2 times the last two years for brake work and having the rear wheel bearings replaced on my Subaru Crosstrek. The shop also provides a free loaner car for you to use while your vehicle is being serviced. I do have to highlight from the repairs that were completed on my car, I ran into unforeseen circumstances where my emergency brake locked up from my first visit and then my brake hoses failing on the second visit. Both these failures required my vehicle to get towed back to the shop. When I called Eric at the shop, he was quick to respond to provide excellent hospitality to inspect over the car to make sure it was fully drivable and make any replacements needed to do so without any additional charges to the bill. Action Auto has exceeded my expectations in their effort to provide the best hospitality to me in these unfortunate situations. Thank you to Clint, Eric, and to the rest of the team that helped keep my vehicle in tip top shape!!

My husband s car had a check engine light come on and all the dealerships were booked for weeks. I called Action Auto Systems and spoke with Eric who was professional, friendly, and helpful. He said I could bring the car in the same day. Eric helped me right away and explained everything in terms I could understand. I can t thank them enough! We will definitely be back.

Hands down, best shop in town! Very knowledgeable and professional. Reasonable prices and the convenience of having loaner cars helps my day move forward while keeping my car maintained and safe. 10/10 would recommend.

Straightforward, honest, skilled. The team at action auto communicates effectively, gets repairs done quickly, and charges fairly. I used to live nearby, and still come to Action Auto even though I moved to St Paul. The loaner cars are a huge factor for me, easy drop off and pickup is key! The whole team is great, but mainly talk to Jen, Dustin, and Eric.

Spent forever searching for a decent auto place as a transplant to the twin cities. Settled on action auto with their good reviews and they more than exceed expectations. Got my car in the same week, got a free loaner for the time my car was in the shop. The mechanics were very communicative about the issues and how that impacted the car/what was essential and what was not. They also found another issue after they started work and only added the cost of parts onto the total charge. Very fair pricing for what they did.I would recommend action auto to anyone in need of a good mechanic

I was searching for a new mechanic/repair place to bring my vehicle in for some maintenance work and I decided to go with Action Auto. I was impressed by their customer service and the price for their service was reasonable. What got me sold was their honesty. One time I went there to supposedly have the seatbelt buckle fixed because it wouldn't close the latch. It turned out to be the wrong buckle and there was another seatbelt buckle under the car seat that was the correct one. I did feel somewhat embarrassed, but I appreciated their honesty about it and they didn't charge me for the seat belt buckle. I trust this place to handle my car repairs and will come back soon for another maintenance service.Services: Transmission, Auto battery replacement, General repairs & maintenance

Update: Had a great chat with the owner, who was really affirming and apologetic. Obviously mistakes happen and he heard me and wanted to make things right. Definitely appreciate it and sometimes that's all it takes!The free rental car usage is definitely a plus and was appreciated.Unfortunately, I had a brutal experience esp. around customer service. I set up an appointment online and stated that I had an oil change done the previous week and that the dealer service dept inspected my car and recommended that I replace my rear brakes as well as the cam carriers and crossover pipe o ring because I have an oil leak. I was requesting an estimate.When I brought my car in, the person at the desk didn't seem very interested in interacting with me and says that they'll contact me later in the morning. Really no questions or conversation about my car.I call Action Auto mid-afternoon and mentioned that I hadn't heard from them and had expected a call earlier and basically was told that they hadn't said late morning (which is honestly whatever, but it's part of the whole experience).I'm then told that they performed an oil change and were waiting to get my estimates. I'm really surprised and said that I hadn't requested an oil change. To their credit, they said they wouldn't charge me for it.When I return later in the day, they told me they would email me the estimate and that it was $80 for the inspection. I said, I already knew what repairs needed done because the car was already inspected and had just asked for an estimate. I was told there was no way to get an estimate without doing an inspection.They did me a 'favor' and only charged me for the oil change (~$65).I mentioned that the whole point of me bringing my car in was that I'd rather have my vehicle fixed at a smaller shop than at the dealer and the person seemed to agree and said that they do sooo many of these repairs (which internally I was like...so then it's not unreasonable to just get a rough cost estimate if you do so many of these...).I get an estimate later that day in my email, but it doesn't include rear brakes. I immediately responded and asked for it, but it's been crickets ever since- about a week later.At the end of the day, no single action was egregious, but the overall experience left a lot to be desired. People want to trust their auto shop and I definitely left here feeling like I wasn't worth their time and they pulled a fast one on me and I spent $65 for literally no reason.Service: Vehicle Inspection

Finding a fair and honest auto shop around the cities seems to be harder than ever, thank goodness for Action Auto.Pricing is incredibly fair, loaner cars available if needed, work is of awesome quality, and the team is incredibly friendly and helpful.Team is patient and hears me out on all my nitpicky requests on my old 4runner, and are extremely transparent and give honest opinions.These guys value getting the customer for life, rather than pulling a fast one.

Friendly and very helpful. I got an oil change and they fixed a couple of things on the car. The bill was cheaper than I thought it would be. Will definitely go back and recommend to friends.

I was in Minneapolis for a 3 day weekend and on the very last day the rear glass in my car was broken. Action Auto was so kind, they told me to come to their place of business and they offered me coffee while they taped my rear window up so I could drive home. 2 other service places had turned me away. As a woman traveling alone Action Auto earns my strongest approval rating

Have only been once and had a great experience. They seemed really booked, but they got us in for an oil change that also turned into a mouse nest removal behind our cabin filter. So thankful that they found that. They knew we were leaving on a roadtrip and were (rightfully) concerned about our tires. They gave us a quote on all 4 with installation which was right on par with the best prices in town on really good tires, so did that too. Only took a couple days and let us use a courtesy loaner car. Excited to go back!

I should have written this weeks ago! We are trying to utilize and support all of the wonderful local businesses Minneapolis has to offer. Action Auto Systems is no exception. Our car was in for a batter change, we decided it was time for new tires as well. Action called within hours with a quote for both as well as recommending breaks and rotors (which we new was coming). The quote was incredible and what we assumed we would be paying for the tires and battery alone! We had our car back in 36 hours (and were offered a loaner!)Auto work can be so intimidating, not here. Kind, helpful, quick, honest and reliable.

I bring all my cars here. They're often busy, but it's worth it. I recently had a repair done here before a road trip, but then the part failed shortly after the repair. This place found a way to squeeze my car in and get the part replaced again before I had to leave for my trip. This shop seems honest and trustworthy, and they've proven they're fair and value their loyal customers.Services: Transmission, General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic

We've used these guys for about 13 years. Chose them because they were right in the neighborhood and we could walk home. Stayed with Action Auto because Dustin and the rest of the crew have always provided excellent service. We just had our catalytic converter stolen. Dustin talked me through exactly what to do, worked with our insurance to get not just the repair covered, but also a cat shield to hopefully prevent future theft. The gave us a free loaner car for the whole time and went above and beyond to get things handled as quickly and smoothly as possible.

We have been taking our vehicles there as a family for over 20 years. They are trustworthy, compassionate, and kind folks. They will give you an honest estimate, and do good work to get your car in good shape! In the rare case that they didn't quite get to the bottom of an issue, they did the rest of the work gratis due to them wanting my family to be safe and happy with my vehicle and their work. They even have loner vehicles for those long repair jobs! They are the best place to take your car in the Twin cities hands down!

I needed a new place to take my car in and this place was recommended to me. They are the BEST!! They fixed my AC and some oil problems I was having and did it very quickly. They were very trustworthy and honest with me when explaining about what was wrong with my car. I will come here for years and will keep telling everyone I know to also bring their cars here! First time customer at Action Auto, and I will definitely be back. Honest, timely, the loaner car was a great option, and they walked me through all of the recommendations and suggestions for my car. They were not pushy at all, and they answered all of my questions. I'm not a car person, but I fully understood what they were telling me about my car. Great South Minneapolis auto repair shop.

Excellent local shop for getting work done on your vehicle. They have stand out customer service. I needed some substantial work and also wanted to get preventative maintenance done on a BMW and was looking to avoid the crazy cost of taking it to a dealer. I was thrilled to find that the person helping me and undertaking the work also drives a BMW so I was confident that the job would be done right. They were super straightforward with my options and never at any time were pushy with any of the maintenance options. They simply provided me with options, a quote and let me decide. During the time they were working on my vehicle I was provided with a loaner car and they called daily to update me. Action Auto is outstanding, don't hesitate to take your vehicle in.

I have been an Action Auto customer for many years. Kurt and his sons, Jon and Clint, are honest and trustworthy. I knew I found a good repair shop when I thought I needed a new battery, and they talked me out of it. My car now has 195,000 miles on it and is still going strong. I know I can rely on Action Auto to take care of my car and keep it running smoothly. They take the time to explain repairs and prices and always work to get the job done quickly. I will continue to give them my business!! Two thumbs up, Guys!

This place is great. I drove here from Chicago and when I got here realized the grinding noise I had been ignoring was way worse and that the car needed urgent repair before I could drive home. These folks were polite and professional, communicated very well, offered a very reasonable price, and provided fast service. Highly recommended.Service: Brakes

As always, the guys at Action Auto did a great job on the repairs on my car. There were a number of issues that needed to be addressed. For each one, they gave me options for how to repair, and what to spend. The job was done quickly and reasonably. They make you feel that they genuinely appreciate your business. Honest, trustworthy, reputable are all words that come to mind when I think of the team at Action Auto.

What a great shop! These guys are knowledgeable, thorough, not a bit pushy, and their prices are reasonably. They told me everything that was going on with my car (a 2003 Mazda with 150k miles, so it has some character) and prioritized the issues. When I told them that I just needed the most important thing repaired, there was no pressure at all to do additional work.This is really an excellent repair shop. I generally do my own auto repairs but if I run into something else that's over my head, Action Auto is where I'll turn.Also, I recommended them to my mom, so you know I'm serious.

Action Auto is the only place I will use! John and the rest of the staff are so easy to work with and always willing to do whatever it takes to do the job right! They replaced my suspension and brakes at a very reasonable price. I called all over town and they were by far the best deal! They even offered me a FREE courtesy car to use while mine was in the shop. They communicate very well and are always straight forward and honest. That is what I look for in a mechanic and I have found a home for all my car needs. I would ONLY recommend this place! You will not be disappointed!

I have been to Action Auto twice now and have been very pleased with their service! They are very professional, not pushy at all, and very quick to get work done. The option to use their loaner vehicles is also a huge bonus and really takes the hassle out of getting my car worked on. Highly recommend them!

I went to Action Auto on the recommendation of some friends who only go to Action Auto for their repairs and I was not disappointed at all. I wanted an honest assessment on my car, and i did not want to go to the dealership to get ripped off.The team at Action Auto was amazing. It was exactly what I was looking for in an auto shop. I will not be going anywhere else for repairs! It was great work for a great price. Thanks guys.

We ve taken our Subarus here over the last few years for alignments- the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The drop box makes it very convenient if you have a ride home, or they have loaner cars available. They ve always treated us like people and not like numbers. Thank you for great service!
