This place gets all the stars! I enthusiastically recommend Dean's Northtown Auto if you need your car towed and especially if your car is in need of repair!Dean was confident that he could fix my car even after I explained how two other places told me my car wasn t worth fixing and that the parts would be impossible to find (one even offered me less than scrap price for my car).(Bonus: They have their own tow trucks (!!!) so I didn t have the extra hassle of needing to arrange a tow for my car and then wait around for it to show up, etc.)I appreciated that he was honest with his current workload and where my car would fit into their schedule. Even when my excited anticipation to have my car working again probably got annoying, they were always friendly and patient when taking my calls, and when some places would have offered excuses or avoidance, it was refreshing to consistently be given the actual status of the parts being ordered and arriving, and of the repairs being done.Today, I m more than happy to say the impossible happened, I was able to drive my car home (and everywhere else I wanted to go). Not only was my car repaired, they went above and beyond my expectations: in the four years I've owned my car, this will be the first one I will get to experience working A/C! As if that weren t enough, my total cost, which included towing my car, labor, and parts, was lower than the estimates I d received from either of the other two places!I am beyond impressed and satisfied with how everything turned out. This is without a doubt my new 'go-to' for any future car work I may need.

AAA assigned Dean s to do a tow for us and they were so great to work with! Zach showed up, knew exactly what he was doing, was super friendly, and great to work with! Both he and dispatch kept upland updated on his status. We appreciated working with this company!

I needed two good front tires for my vehicle and got 2 very nice used tires for50$ each. After mounting them and balancing them my bill was 157.67. They had it done within an hour. Great customer service. Going back tomorrow for 2 more before winter. Would certainly recommend!

Very lazy and I had my car with them for more than a week and they told me there was something seriously wrong with the engine -they didn t even look at it- and it would take them another week at least. So i had it towed away to another garage it turns out I just needed to replace something that only costs less than a hundred dollar. And they charged me for looking at it without even looking at it. The worst experience I had in mankato it felt like I was begging them.

DO NOT USE FOR SMART STARTThe wiring job they did was wrong, and even affected the performance of the car. I ended up getting stranded 2 hours from home after going here. Hauled it on a trailer to another shop where they had to strip and replace everything. Haven t had a problem since. The other shop even reported them to Smart Start. Find a different shop or go with a completely different company.

I didn't have any work done, but they were here to tow my vehicle when they said they were going to be here and much more inexpensive than any other place. Great job guys!!!

Was strung along for two weeks about a tow I requested and about three times they kept saying they'd get to it in a couple days and it just didn't happen. Canceled and went with a competitor.

Dean s is always my first choice for my auto repair needs in town. Recently had my truck towed and front end rebuilt (hubs, ball joint, spline, cv axle, brakes); I had some of the parts and the rest he was able to find cheaper used rebuilt parts that kept the price down. Good service and prices all the way around and he finished all the work including the initial tow without any payment due. If you want a shop to work with you and take care of all the details that can burden you and slow down your repairs, then this is the guy to call! Also, will give you recommendations for projects that require specialized equipment or skills that others might be more suited to do. Whatever the reason, if it s something automotive (sales, repairs, towing, etc), this is always my first stop!

I have a "Guy".I trust Dean and his crew to get the job done. I searched online for a few months looking to get exhaust fixed as someone stole my converter. Most places charged way more than what it was worth to fix it and or they wanted to go through my insurance. Anyhoo, Dean's Northtown Auto hit 'er done within an hour for $125 ( woo-fricken-hoo!!)I would definitely recommend to anyone that needed auto repair to go to Dean's Northtown Auto in North Mankato.The gps is a bit off on the exact location by about one block.

Vehicle wasn't in good hands here. Simple fix became major repairs after further damage occurred while it was there. It was learned that they allow people from off the streets hang around that have no business there. Very suspicious. We had it serviced by people who actually care, and it's our opinion that Northtown Auto were rough with our vehicle during the initial tow and at their shop.

Dean found me a deal on tires for my camper saved me money and it was a much better tire then what I had found. When I came to pick them up I was have a starting problem that turned out to be a bad battery connection fixed me up right away. Could of told me to come back next week but addressed the problem and sent me on my way. Always have had Great service over the years from them. Will continue to have them work on my vehicles.Services: Tires, Engine repair

I was looking to purchase a truck from Dean's. I made appointments to test drive and make an offer. After having to wait in a cramped and cluttered 'office' straight out of a 'Horderds' episode for the truck to be driven from the auto shop location even with scheduling, I test drove the truck on Friday. I informed the office staff that I'd be back the next week after bank approval and a Carfax report. The following Monday I make an appointment over FB Marketplace to make an offer on the truck. 3pm Tuesday I will be in to make a deal, I found a undisclosed accident on the truck history and planned to discuss pricing. Tuesday afternoon, I attempted to confirm the set appointment only to be told they had sold it an hour earlier. The truck was good enough to be Dean's personal vehicle to play in until someone was interested in it. I'd bet he sold it to a friend for a song leaving me to look elsewhere. I'll not be looking at Dean's lot again. Buyer Beware

Tried to test drive a truck here and when I put my foot on the step bar, it was so rusted it fell off. Before I even got to open the door of the truck, I went yep.. nope, not driving this in Mankato. Went right back inside, told them what happened (seemed like they didn't care at all), and left. Their inside was also very messy and disorganized. Not a place you probably want to buy a car or truck unless you are on an extremely tight budget.

It took them over a month to finish my car, then once I finally got it back, they upped the price by $150 from original estimate. Also, techs left my car and seats dirty with mud and cigarettes ashes on my ground. Horrible service, will not be going back.Services: Auto maintenance, BatteryServices: Auto maintenance, Battery

Dean really helped me out of a tight spot. Passing through Mankato and had some serious car trouble. Dean's happened to be open on a Saturday afternoon so I was able to talk to him about it and leave it there to be looked at. Deans Northtown Auto, People have mixed perceptions of the place. My factual experience has been one and an on going one at that has been just fine. I have bought 3 vehicles from him and he was upfront about the things one cant see and no major issues with any of the vehicles. He has an abundance of good tires and does not bend you over for em either . He has made repairs to my current truck and I'll be taking my work truck to him soon as well for maintenance. he does get busy but hes honest and you need to ask the right questions if you want to know anything that your purchase may need. If he knows about a potential problem, he will tell you how it is. Thx Dean and crew. Recommended to many of my friends.

AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. If I could give it 0 stars I would. In January of this year (January2022) I purchased a used car in cash from here. I was told I would get the title shipped to me within 30 days (should ve seen the red flags then). I never received any paperwork ever and eventually forgot about it. 2 weeks ago (September 2022) that same car got vandalized and insurance ended up totaling out my vehicle. In order to get paid from insurance I had to provide a title. I contacted deans and they were clueless (basically forgot all about my title). They didn t even have it on them the title was still at the dealership they previously bought the car from. I was told Friday to go in Monday for the title and they still didn t have it and didn t have a single care in the world. Dean himself said It s not our fault they didn t want to admit that they took my cash, smiled in my face and then completely forgot about what they are required to do. Had 0 sympathy for me and extremely disrespectful. How do you run a business like this?!? Our insurance guy in Mankato also told me that they have had multiple problems with Dean s in the past. Dean himself also told me this happens absolutely under no circumstances does it take 9 months to get a title when you ve done your part. With all the competition in Mankato and with how popular marketplace is I am shocked they still sell enough cars to be open. You re better off going on Facebook. I went to a dealership to avoid these problems. I finally have the title after 9 months and 2 weeks and I still have to wait another 2 weeks for it to process before I can sign over to insurance. If I could give 0 starts I would. So many good body shops in town and dealerships. IF YOU ARE THINKING OF DOING BUSINESS HERE DON T!!

Rented a uhaul from deans, my girlfriend and I were idiots on our planning and we ended up having the truck for way longer than we said we would. Lady in the office was super understanding and didn t charge us more which was amazing. Rent from here if you need a uhaul.

Do not recommend buying a car from this business at all, you will be caught in a scam. Buying a used car you know there s going to be some things you ll have to work on sooner or later; not even 30 days in the car needed repairs to the cooling system. Wanted to charge for the repairs more than other places around like it was my fault it happened. Can t say truly it s a a scam they re running, but it s definitely out of bad faith and false promises. Spend your money somewhere else

Bought a PriusThey lied about the codes on the dash and said it wasn't anything major but it was and the hybrid battery blew up while driving it back.The 12v battery was also badFuel filter was heavily clogged and needed replacedAC refrigerant needed refilledAnd the passenger side wheel bearing was going outRear seats were also bent beyond repairNot an issue however as a friend is a mechanic/handy man who owns a salvage yard and the car was fixed for a total of $1,100 and I've had offers for $4,300-$5,000 for it from people wanting to buy it from me.Had they taken the time to fix things and not lie about codes they'd have made more profit than they did.3 stars since I benefited and profited more than they did.

Other places were telling me it would be a month to get me in, not only did Dean find me a deal on the exact type of tires I needed, he snuck me in on the tail end of the day and got my tires done. I was extremely happy.

A little high priced but the owner is usually negotiable. Could improve on customer service. The secretary lady was rude and never returned my phone calls (two times I called back and she never returned my phone calls and I sent an email and still nothing!) Other than that atmosphere wise it's a welcoming feeling

They let me take my Tahoe nowing they hadn't bleed the brakes and never said anything to me I needed a caliper! Besides the fact it took 2 days to chance the brake modular.
