Fantastic little motel with clean rooms and perfect location. Not quite ski in ski out but it s about a 30 second drive to Lutsen parking and definitely could be walked with gear on if needed. Motel has a fun little self serve kitchen with frozen pizzas, a pizza oven and lots of snacks and drinks. We had a great time, and Katie at the front desk was pleasant and funny and welcoming :)

Great place to stay for our family get away. Cute rooms, friendly staff, loved the picnic area outside and absolutely adored how pet friendly this place is. To top it off, when we got to out room the boys (fur babies) had a goodie bag waiting for them and food and water dishes provided Love it when we find a find a place that has such love for our fur babies.

The staff at the hotel were fantastic. This was a surprise trip for my 40th birthday that my wife organized and the hotel was very accommodating. We managed to get 5 rooms for 10 guys and even though the hotel has a 3-night minimum on weekends during peak season, they were able to get us our rooms for 1 night. So very thankful. The rooms were clean and updated and the was a great selection of snacks and coffee. This is a motel-style hotel so there is no pool or restaurant. However, there are many dining options in the area. We'll be back.

This was a cute hotel. We booked super last minute and didn't have many choices so I wasn't expecting much, but it exceeded my expectations. The service was friendly and the locations was super cute! The rooms were spacious with plenty of non-floor/counter space to spread out your stuff which is a huge plus (more hotels should follow suit so we don't have to spread out our stuff on the floor). The only knock was that the provided amenities (hand soap, shampoo, conditioner and body wash) was basically water. I didn't take a star off for that as I generally bring my own stuff but did not this trip.

Not luxurious but clean, comfortable and friendly staff. We recommend if you are good with a standard hotel room. We appreciate their care for the environment. It's in a great location to do and see a lot. Nice area with hammocks. Quiet area. Nice food pantry. While it was a nice place to stay, we were charged more than we were quoted per night and didn't realize it until I saw the charge on our credit card statement (we didn't get a bill at check out). Unfortunately, no one responded to my call or email as to why.

This place has been renovated and not only were the rooms simply styled and clean, the staff was amazing. They have a nice little honor system of food & beverages (including pizza and a pizza oven), plus a hot cocoa bar to warm up after a day in the great outdoors.I'd add an extra star if I could as the owner actually helped me shovel my car out after I got it stuck! She was so kind and helpful! ; )

The staff was SUPER friendly and accommodating! They had a snack bar and freezer for food and snacks that you could take on the honor system. The rooms were very clean. The bed and sheets and blankets were new-like and super clean and sanitary. We had a King bed room and it had plenty of space for all our stuff and nice shelf and closet space. You could easily log in and out of your own app accounts on the tv...super easy for non-tech savvy people. They had a warm shower outside to rinse off (we were there for a running race weekend event:) so that was very helpful. I was very impressed and plan to book my stay here for next year's race as well. I loved it. Also a quick walk across the street for great food and drinks.

This place was great! Didn't have a pool or workout room, which was fine with me. That's not why I went to to the north shore. It was one of the cleanest places I have ever stayed at. I have done housekeeping before, and that is a difficult job, so kudos to their cleaning staff. It was quiet and the people working their were so helpful and friendly. I enjoyed talking to every one of them. There is no question I will return!!

This place is phenomenal--the cleanliness is top of the line. The decor is simple, modern and yet rustic. From the lobby to the rooms, the space is calming and relaxing. The details that the owners have put in place make this an exceptional stay. I've stayed at many different lodges and hotels on the North Shore, I believe this to be one of the best stays I've had. Book this place!

Absolutely outstanding! Very refreshing to stay at a hotel that has that homey feel and family-owned. The staff is very friendly and well-educated of the area. I spoke to Teri the owner a couple months prior to staying at the hotel, upon arrival she remembered who I was. My wife and I followed Teri's guide to the north shore that you can get off of the website that highlighted things to do in the area. The rooms are newly remodeled with all modern amenities. Definitely has that homie feel and is Above the Rest. It' definitely going to be our go-to lodging when visiting the new North Shore! You won't be disappointed.

Very cute, cozy, and inviting Inn. We had the most amazing stay this past February and I am already itching to plan our trip for 2021! Teri and all of the staff were absolutely wonderful, friendly, and extremely helpful. It felt like visiting family ( that you like =P ). Great pricing for being so close to the resort. We also did a few spa packages at Lutzen while there all which were phenomenal, very calming and relaxing environment. It was a perfect way to start the day before hitting the slopes. Such a great experience that we want to do it every year, looking forward to our next visit.Highly recommend!

We very much enjoyed our stay. Clean rooms, very comfortable beds, nice amenities, and a very well kept property in a scenic setting centrally located along the North Shore. Lots to do within just a few miles... Gondola ride, Alpine slide, hiking & biking, Superior National golf course, and we loved the North Shore Winery just down the road. Just a 20 minute drive up to Grand Marais or a half hour down to Gooseberry... and lots of worthwhile stops in between. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Just a very warm, welcoming property.

Absolutely loved this place. It was walkable to the hill, a great restaurant (Moguls) is right across the street, the rooms were clean and recently updated, Ella's Pantry is well stocked to grab a quick breakfast in your room before the hill (and they brew fresh, complimentary coffee every morning!) ...and the staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. I heartily recommend!

The new owners (Teri and her husband) have done an awesome job of remodeling and still continue to do so. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Danielle was also great! I was there on a Saturday and Sunday night and it was so quiet! I didn t hear anyone in the halls or any noise. It was so peaceful and relaxing. I really loved having Ella s Pantry. That is such a great idea and had a great selection of food and snacks. The place is kept so clean.I was just really impressed with what you have done and I will definitely be back again soon. I have also told my friends that should really stay there next time too! I look forward to seeing it when you have finished doing all your upgrades. You have done great Teri! Thank you for a relaxing stay.

We stayed in a dog room at the Mountain Inn in March 2022. When we walked in our room you had no idea it was a designated dog room because it smelled so clean. This was easiest the nicest pet room we ve ever booked. There is no provided breakfast which in my mind are overrated at best at other motels. At Mountain Inn they have a very clean area with free coffee, frozen food and treats which are moderately priced and added to your stay via the honor system. The front desk people are all friendly and helpful as is all the staff we encountered.I skied Lutsen and although this is not a ski in ski out facility you are virtually a 2 min drive to the Bridge Run and an easy entrance to the mountain..5 out of 5...10 out of 10..

My family and pup loved staying here! Very clean rooms and nice property including the outside area with hammocks, grills, and fire pits. We needed tongs to cook hot dogs over the fire and they provided them, provided a corkscrew opener for our wine, and a welcome kit for our pup. Perfect place to stay to access all the great hiking and things to do on the North Shore! Owners were very kind and helpful!

Friendly staff, nicely stocked pantry with snacks and frozen meal options, warm room and good location. The room itself was decent and had a good TV, mini fridge and microwave. The beds were adequate but the pillows were awful, each bed had three completely flat pillows and one that felt like shredded foam. Very uncomfortable. When I stepped into the shower there was quite a bit of hair, leftover from the last guest I assume. I would have liked to have a chair to sit in when putting on my boots, but instead they had two tall chairs in the room. Over all it was a decent stay but the prices have doubled since 2019 so it was pretty expensive.

Absolutely charming and clean! This is not a resort with all of the amenities, but it makes up for it with clean, comfortable accommodations, a stocked pantry, and the most welcoming hosts!Things you may want to know: it is within walking distance (1/2 mile each way) 3 restaurants, and a mile to a local winery. They don't have a restaurant on site For, but they do have a fully stocked pantry with coffee (only after 7am, for us early risers, bring something to tide you over until then), frozen foods, snacks, and drinks that you can purchase and add to your room bill. For those who like really firm mattresses, they have them! But they also have a delightful relaxation area with hammocks strung between the trees out front. Each room has a microwave and mini-fridge and you can sign into your own streaming accounts on the room TV, which we found as just an extra layer of comfort. Do yourself a favor and check this place out.

Top ten things about this Hotel in no particular order:1. Very clean throughout the inside.2. Decor of the rooms and the ambiance was a 10. This is a special touch for sure as you don't see this in most hotels.3. Comfort of the beds and the linens was way above average.4. The exterior with the sit around areas and fire pit were exceptional. One area even had a Weber grill for cooking out!5. Owners and staff very accomadating and friendly.6. This may be dated (hopefully SOON) but it was a very COVID aware facility.7. Located nestled away from the main ski area, but plenty close enough to walk up the hill and, er, ski back down?8. Just above one of the starting points of the Giche Gume bike trail.9. Very fairly priced based on in depth research of other local hotels/motels in and along the North Shore.10. Great location for base camp.

We had a lovely stay at the Mountain Inn! My family of 4 stayed in a 2 queen room. We enjoyed the clean and newly updated room. The beds were comfy and provided for great sleep after long days on the slopes. We brought food with us and utilized the in room fridge, microwave, sink, and counter space. We would recommend the Mountain Inn for your next trip to Lutsen!

What a wonderful gem! We stayed here last weekend and had a very nice time. The Hotel and rooms were very clean and simple. They were not only dog friendly, but provided a doggie goodie bag including bowls, treats, poop bags and blankets for the beds. The morning coffee was delicious and we thought the little shop pantry was adorable! We will definitely be back and highly recommend to anyone looking for a simple, clean, safe room up the north shore!

Our stay at the Mountain Inn was fantastic! We travel a lot and this place was by far the cleanest we have stayed in for quite some time. The room was spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed talking with the friendly staff. We also found out that we can bring our dog next time as they have a few dog-friendly rooms. Overall, our stay couldn't have been better. The Mountain Inn will be our place to stay whenever we visit the North Shore!

We love Mountain Inn! The accommodations are great!! The improvements they've made as well as the ones coming in the next few months make this place an absolute gem. Then when you add in that your treated like old friends the moment you walk in the door you see why Mountain Inn has made for two of the best vacation we've taken in recent years. James and Teri are two of our favorite people and we're looking forward to going back up there again soon.

Super cute place to stay just down from the mountain! The staff is very friendly, rooms are clean, amenities are nice like the hammocks and fire pit, and the remodeled rooms look excellent. A few gripes - the cleaning staff are younger guys who don t wear masks or gloves and they seem to be always having some sort of mini argument, and the floors/ceilings are thin so if anyone is above you, you ll hear everything.

We had an excellent visit at Mountain Inn! We stayed in one of the dog-friendly rooms and it was great. The room was updated and clean, and the hotel had lots of things that made our visit special - complimentary smores/bonfire on Saturday, welcome kit for our dog, smart TV in the room, etc. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend!
