We've stayed at Cascade Lodge a few times in the last couple of years, and we love it. Top-most is the staff. Everyone--from the front desk, to the restaurant, to maintenance, to house cleaning--every single employee (and the owner) we've met has been genuinely kind, professional, helpful, and friendly. In addition, ultimately this is a place to sleep, and the beds and linens are superb. The restaurant is one of the best on the North Shore including an inventive menu and clever cocktails and well-poured Guinness in the bar. Overall, we'd like to extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone at Cascade.Nearby activities: Remarkable array of hiking and skiing trails directly from the lodge. Only 10-15 minutes from Lutsen Mountain or Grand Marais.

We loved our stay at Cascade Lodge! We always look to stay somewhere with a wood fireplace, big whirlpool tub, and totally separate cabins. Only downside was that it wasn't right on the water, but it was just across the road, so still not bad. Would definitely stay here again. The food at the restaurant is super good, but we also cooked a fair share in the cabin and we had most of the kitchen supplies we needed and just winged it for what we were missing and it worked out just fine. Lots of games and puzzles to play, and nearby a lot of parks and attractions to visit!

Came up for our couples New Years trip - didn't make it to Lutsen for skiing or boarding. The rooms in the Creek Chalet was decently sized, lighting could be a tad bit brighter. As we were leaving - I was told we are the last group to get the Creek Chalet before they remodel. Looking forward to checking the place out later in the year.Staff was pleasant to work with. Would come back again!

We stayed in one of the base camp cabins for 3 nights and for the most part really loved our stay! It was the perfect sized cabin for 2 adults and our dog! We could see the lake from our room which was nice and really appreciated the pet friendliness and welcome bag! I will say though that if you want a quiet sleep I would choose one of the other cabin options because the base camp units are all connected and share walls which we didn t realize, maybe we missed that in the pictures when booking. That just meant that during our first night we didn t sleep much due to the neighbor on one side playing very loud music later into the night and on the other side 2 individuals arguing outside so loudly that we could unfortunately hear every word of their hour long conversation. The only other thing we mentioned to the staff upon checkout was that our door had a lot of difficulty closing unless basically slamming it shut while pulling it closed - probably not the best thing for our neighbors to have to listen to too.We also really loved the cascade lodge restaurant and appreciated the discount when eating there, very great food and hotel/restaurant staff were awesome! We would definitely consider staying here again!

This is a great place! It was a very last minute booking and I was lucky enough to get a cabin. The cabin was clean and had everything I needed for a short or long stay. I only needed it for the night, but I would have been comfortable during a longer stay. The location is directly across for Lake Superior and has a very nice restaurant on the property, as well.It is kid friendly with outdoor activities that are in great shape. There is a friendly gaggle of Canada geese that hang out. on the property. The staff is very friendly and helpful!

A charming, cozy spot to stay on the North Shore. Centrally located close to hiking trails, Lutsen Mountains, and Grand Marais. Beautifully decorate rooms and charming community spaces. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful during our stay.We enjoyed playing games by the fire, having our coffee lakeside, and walking their trails.Right next door is their restaurant that offers delicious food from burgers to flatbreads. We were impressed by their vegetarian options! You re also a short drive from local restaurants in Lutsen or Grand Marais.Highly recommend this spot for a couple or a family looking for a relaxing weekend getaway. Year-round this would be a wonderful spot to stay!

I have enjoyed cabin 11 the last two nights. I have stayed at many North Shore cabins in the last several years... nothing compares! The privacy, creak next to my cabin, fire pit, the restaurant/bar, wifi, dog friendly..the list goes on! I came up to hike Oberg Mountain and take the gondola in Lutsen... the location is absolutely perfect! The restaurant has great food and drinks after a long day of hiking.

I hopped on a plane to try and catch the Aurora. I loved the lodge. I stayed here numerous nights, a few unexpected. It has a beautiful view of Lake Superior. But hands down what I enjoyed most was the staff. Everyone was very helpful and nice. I can't wait to bring my family back.Nearby activities: There is so much to see in nature in this area. Trails, falls and lakes abound. It's a picturesque area.Food & drinks: The restaurant next door to the lodge is phenomenal. I ate there for several meals and was not disappointed. I highly recommend it!! Again, the staff here was exceptional.

This was a cute little lodge right on the north shore and so close to Cascade State Park. The restaurant was a nice addition to being able to grab dinner at the end of a hiking day! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was 102. We were right off the main seating area. They do have a sign asking people to keep their noise to a minimum however, when others were being loud in the area, ex: talking on FaceTime with the volume on high, conversations across the room at a high volume, the staff didn t come around the corner and ask them to lower their volume or take their calls outside. I understand people hanging out, there were more of us sitting in the smaller gathering area and we all knew now to whisper in there.I can t say anything about the cabins as we didn t stay in one of those. The gathering areas are nice and the game room even though tiny, was still a great place to shoot some pool!Over all I would definitely recommend staying here when up on the north shore!!

We've stayed in different cabins at different times at Cascade and this will always be our favorite place on the north shore. Being dog friendly is a huge bonus and the trail connecting the state park is unbeatable. Also, woodburning stoves in cabins are hard to find these days and part of the rustic attraction for us. I would give 4.5 stars if possible.

Our stay at Cascade Lodge was absolutely fantastic! First, at check in, they were extremely welcoming and let us know everything about the place. You can also hang out in their lodge which was very cozy. They have some games, books, a piano to play, puzzles, and even a game room! We got a Basecamp room and it was a great little room for the weekend. Heat was easy to use, bathrooms were clean, and the bed was EXTREMELY comfy. Room also has a mini fridge, microwave, two desks, an extra bed, and heated bathroom floors. We also really enjoyed the restaurant at the lodge. They had a lot of great food and drink options.Altogether, a great stay right in the middle of Grand Marais and Lutsen which was perfect for our North Shore vacation!Nearby activities: Walk around Lake Superior! There are some steps by the shore and some fun rocks to climb on.Walkability: Very quick walk to Cascade River State Park! You can go to the shore parking lot which is quickly East and see the river go into Lake Superier. Probably one of the coolest thing we have ever seen!Food & drinks: Great restaurant at the lodge and you get a 10 percent discount if you show them your room key. They also have an ice machine (in lodge) and mini fridge available (in room).

We have been coming here for 8 years now! The staff are warm and welcoming, always ready with a smile. The breakfast sandwiches at the restaurant are AMAZING! They offer a wide variety of accommodations which offer different types of views. We love staying in one of the cabins with a Lake view. The cabins are charming and cozy with wood-burning stoves.

We go to this wonderful place every year and each time we have a hard time leaving. Breathtaking scenery, miles of hiking trails, courteous staff, cozy cabins. The restaurant recently updated its menu and the food is 5-star, everyone in our party was very happy with their order. I had the Fiesta grain bowl and couldn't say enough about it. I highly recommend Cascade Lodge.

Clean, quiet, beautiful view of the lake. Nearby hiking trails. Would stay there again. Highly recommend.Rooms: I'm guessing rooms have been updated. Clean and modern looking. Sometimes at those older lodges rooms can be a bit rustic. I really liked our room.

Stayed in Cabin 11 which was gorgeous and situated over the creek with its own bridge. You could see the lake from the cabin as well. We enjoyed exploring all of the trails that connected from right outside of our cabin. The cabin was cozy and cute. Our only complaint was that no heat seemed to go into the bathroom and it could get pretty chilly in there, but not a huge deal. We only stayed 2 nights, but would like to go back when it s warmer and stay longer and take advantage of the lodge and grounds more. We did eat a lunch and a dinner at the restaurant on site. The fish and chips had a nice beer batter breading and the roasted root veggies with quinoa was very good, especially the sauce on it. We tried the pretzel bites and though they were burnt the beer cheese was amazing. The coconut whitefish needed more seasoning but the chili was perfection. We also tried the wild burger with the multiple meats and it was delicious. This was a lovely resort all around with a beautiful location and we appreciated the discounted rates this time of year. We hope to make it back!

Rooms are nice and the beds are comfortable. The room was clean when we arrived. It's a very rustic hotel and we'll kept. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The only thing I could complain about is all the dead flies on the inside of the window. I would definitely stay here again.

Loved our stay here! Came for a day of snowmobiling and only stayed one night but will definitely stay here again! Lodge has direct access to the trails and trailer parking. Evelyn and Melanie were very friendly and attentive and made a great stay even better. The owner was also super helpful and friendly and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Room was clean and quaint with a great view of Lake Superior. Beds were very comfortable and after a day of riding that was much appreciated. Had dinner at the Cascade Lodge restaurant. Food and staff were both very good.

My first time staying and it was great. If you're looking for modern and updated this place probably isn't for you but personally I love the old cabin in the woods feel. I also loved that it was located in between a bunch of state parks and not far from Grand Marais. We will definitely be returning here in the future!

Definitely had a phenomenal time staying here. The staff was very accommodating and pleasant. My girlfriend and I were set to stay in the motel portion of the lodge, but due to some issues, were upgraded to the pioneer cabin. Very spacious and rustic feeling. Since they re located right in Cascade River state park, there are lots of trails right on the property to hike and go fishing. I look forward to returning again in the future

I ve stayed here twice, both times in the lodge facing the cabins/woods. Perfect location between Lutsen and Grand Marais. Right next to Cascade State Park, which has AWESOME hiking, tons of waterfalls. Rooms have been updated, very nice cozy, modern feel. Clean. Everything I happened to need/want was there (fridge, coffee maker & coffee in lobby, board games, kitchen utensils) - the one downside for me was the beds, in both of the rooms we stayed in. I want to stay here again so hopefully that will be updated like everything else - but, either way, I ll continue staying here. We tried the restaurant next door, which was wonderful. Had fish fingers, stew, cocktails. Staff are great, despite feeling the stress of being short handed.
