Being new to Duluth, I was looking for a Automotive Service place to get my Subaru serviced. From the time i came in to make an appointment till the completion of the repairs, Mike and everyone went out of the way to make sure i felt welcomed. Questions/Concerns got answered, kept me up to date with everything. Thankful i have found my new auto service garage. Highly recommend 5 Star Automotive for all your cars needs.

Exploring the north shore during spring break, the car started sounding like a train. Reluctant to drive back to Minneapolis without having it check out, I drove into 5 star and was happy to have problem assessed and repaired everything within 3 hours.

While driving home to the Twin Cities from the North Shore, my dash illuminated with three warning lights. I called a friend in Duluth and she recommended her "awesome mechanic" and called ahead for me. I made it to the shop and from the time I arrived to the shop I picked up my car, I felt like I was in capable, good and safe hands. Mike could not have taken better care of me. He clearly explained my options and gave suggestions when I asked. If you live in Duluth or, like me, experience car troubles while you're visiting, Five Star Automotive is a place you can trust! My car did not start yesterday, got a jump and the tester showed a weak battery. I had never been to 5 Star Automotive in Duluth before, but called and they said to drive it down and they could probably have it done the next day, if the problem is just the battery. The owner and staff in the office area were great people to deal with, they installed the new battery the next day as promised, at a MORE THAN FAIR PRICE and I picked the car up mid morning. I will definitely support their repair business in the future ---and I want to add---they had a very clean office area to do business in. I recommend them!Service: Battery

I have had to bring my car in twice over the last 8 weeks due to the lovely Duluth roads. Both times I was able to get right in, repairs were done quickly, they worked directly with my extended warranty company, and charged a fair price. Best of all they stayed in regular contact with me along the way, because of that I was never left with the anxiety of what all was wrong, how long it would take, or the cost. I will be a customer for life and will happily refer friends. THANK YOU Five Star Team!

Really had a great experience. Squeaking breaks were driving me nuts (and probably those I was driving next to on the road). I had an appointment for another national chain service shop...but, on a Friday morning before that appointment I gave them a call. They were able to get my car in the shop, diagnose a couple of different problems and tell me that my brakes still had a bunch of life left and that the squeak should figure itself out. So not only did I get some preventative services done at like 70% of the cost of the place I was going to bring the car too but I also saved a bunch of money by not having to replace my breaks. And they were right, the brakes are sounding better already. Cisco and the crew there did an excellent job. Will absolutely be back. Thanks!

Recently had all new tires put on my rig for winter at 5 star automotive. Jason and his team are not only top notch in what they do, but also how they do it. His team (I'm looking at you Cisco!) made sure that I was aware of progress during the process, answered all of my questions, and made everything as seamless as possible. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking to support local business that takes care of you from start to finish.

I have 3 cars that range from 1999 to 2019, so having a reliable auto repair shop is a priority for me. I have been taking my vehicles there since they opened in Duluth and both Mike and Cisco have provided great service in getting me scheduled, diagnosed, and serviced. Thanks guys!

I now know why this place is called Five Star Automotive, it definitely is a 5 Star business.I m from Florida and needed work done on my Jeep. I was only going to be in Duluth for a couple of days so I needed an immediate appointment. I Googled several businesses in the area, called them and left messages, none of them returned my call. When I called Five Star Automotive, Cisco answered the phone, was very friendly and professional, and told me to bring in my Jeep the next day and they would fit me in.When I arrived, Mike was also very friendly and recommended a place down the street to have breakfast. Mike also went above and beyond to answer my questions about the area. I was also impressed that Cisco identified himself as having spoke to me the day before and shook my hand.My Jeep was finished in a very timely manner and the price was reasonable.I would highly recommend this company and would like to once again say thank you to Cisco and Mike for providing me with the best automobile repair experience that I have ever had!Service: Electrical repair

Awesome people! Received excellent service getting both of my family's cars back into shape this last week. I have used Jason and his team a few times over in Superior at his other shop! Since I live in Duluth I decided to try his new shop...Boy what a great surprise! Me and my daughters cars have had a few issues recently and each and every time I call the shop they told me to bring it by the SAME DAY! Who does that anymore! They were always professional , fast and super reasonable! They pointed out all the possible issues and options for my repairs and never tried to up sale me. Prices were fair, service was quick and they treated me with Respect! I am a life long customer! Never bringing any vehicle back here again. Charged $500 for diagnostics and 4 replaced spark plugs, with no conclusive answer as to why my Mini Cooper's cylinders are misfiring. They didn't even check the half dozen other issues it could be, just went straight to the least likely and most expensive option, a $2,000 ECM. A part they can't even properly install since they don't have the tech to test it prior to or flash it after replacement. They weren't even sure replacing it would fix the problem! They didn't have the car ready for removal the morning I went down, so I paid the bill and came back in the afternoon for it, and it still wasn't out of their shop. In that time though, they removed the new spark plugs and refunded me the $55 for the parts, not the time and labor though. If they were good, why replace them?? If they were bad, why put them back in after they were paid for?? I wasn't even allowed to talk the tech who did the work to ask what he found and checked, just got the run around from the counter clerk. So I'm out $445 for inconclusive diagnostics, plus the cost of a $130 tow, and no closer to get it back on the road. Feel like I got scammed.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

This place WILL rip you off. Quoted me $167.87 for all services initiallly. Charged me $115 just to hook up an engine scanner (free at most places) and read off why my check why my engine light was on. And they didn't even address the actual problem (catalytic converter).A rotor, brake pads & air sensor should not run you $951.42. Especially when you don't need a new air sensor. If you don't know cars, they will take advantage of you. I have an old car, nearly 20yrs old. So things are wrong with it. As with any old car, it just needs to work for another couple years. I needed an oil change. And my check engine light turned on and off. I had heard good things about 5 star so I decided to try them out. Booking through the website was smooth, quick and easy. I dropped my car off bright and early and they had looked at and figured out what was wrong before noon! My appointment wasn't till 3pm mind you. So my car needed some work in addition to the oil change. 4 things. I decided to do 2 things (both because of $ and practicality- how much $ do you put into a 20 yr old car right?) They said ok and that was it. No slaes pressure. No telling me I really should do it all. They had to get a part so I'd be able to pick my car up the next day. Great communication, fabulous people, would highly recommend to anyone, but especially another woman. I happened to be getting my car detailed at O.C. Detailing (which is downstairs from this shop) and mentioned I needed some work done. Roxie recommended upstairs and I am so glad I went there. Super convenient! Cisco was very easy to work with and patient with explaining the myriad of problems my car had (which, I knew there were a lot). Pricing was fair and service was quick. I would give 0 stars if I could! Like the other low reviews this place rips you off! My steering needed to be fix, took it in, paid, got it fixed then a month later it was broken again. Took it in again cause mistakes happen! They said something else was wrong, paid, got it fixed . My car is still broken. I gave them 2 chances stupidly DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I had u-joints replaced on my truck. There was an issue with damage occurring to the yoke and the owner quickly took care of the issue and lent me a loaner car until the part was fixed. Very happy with the service I get from both Five Star locations. They are the only shop I use.

Great that 5-Star now has a location in Duluth! Did oil change and brakes and was less than a competitor s quote and I didn t need as much repaired as I needed it adjusted. My 2007 Ford expedition was locking in park, I took my car here to get checked and they said they needed to replace the shift interlock. I paid up to 500$ and when I got the car back it was still locked in park. I googled my problem and found that it was my brake light sensor and it cost 30$ and took 5 minutes to replace. These people are incompetent scammers.

I have gone to this garage and the one in Superior. I always have great service and they explain everything they did to my vehicle or what will need to be done and the order of what needs to be fixed when it is costly. These guys are life savers when it comes to fixing your vehicle. They care more about good quality service and honesty than making money.
