Mike is a very friendly and knowledgeable. I typically work on my own vehicles, but my girlfriends vehicle was making a noise I couldn't replicate. I was stumped as to what it could be, so I brought it over to apex auto and within 24hrs, he had diagnosed the problem and advised us on what to do! Fair and quality work is what Apex Automotive provides!

Stopped in a few days ago without an appointment due to a sudden scraping sound coming from the wheels. Mike offered to do a quick test drive around the block and to take a quick look. He found out the dust shield was detached and he got it out so it wouldn't cause more damage. Wonderful workers, very quick and helpful. The best mechanic experience I have ever had, hands down, bar none. Mike was super knowledgeable and kind when my wife and I called in with a flashing check engine light on our older Tahoe. We stopped at three other mechanics on 61 on our way down from Grand Marais in a near panic and were told each time they were too busy or could not figure out the electrical issue causing the engine code reader to default. Within minutes Mike and his staff diagnosed the electrical issue, got the code reader hooked up and sorted the problem out. On top of that he was kind enough to fit us in on a moments notice during an obviously very busy day. Frankly, I've never experienced customer service as great as this in any field let alone from a mechanic. There really is no better place I can think of to get work done. We will be traveling here from Grand Marais from now on to service our vehicles. I can't recommend or thank them enough.

Great service and good location, but no clear sign. Mike seems super knowledgeable! Got my Prius running again! Did a diagnostic on the electrical or battery side and quoted me under budget. He spent more time than he needed to working on the car, which is great. The only other negative was the diagnostic, at upwards of 200. I was going to take it somewhere cheaper. Other than that, it was great and detailed. Great to support local people doing their job.

Excellent business to work with. Mike completely went above and beyond to save our vacation. He worked me in to his schedule and even worked after hours to swap the rear end on my F350. Honest, respectful, and hard working all at a fair price. He is the mechanic you re looking for.

I called Apex Auto to see if they could look at my check engine light on a Chrysler Town and Country. I wanted to know if I could have them look at it on Monday since the hours said they were closed on the weekend. Mike said he would look at it on Saturday if that would work. I was very happy and said YES! Mike looked at it with his diagnosis computer and checked for vacuum leaks because the engine was running lean. To him it was a dirty injector head, he suggested to treat my fuel with some injector cleaner to start and if that didn t do the trick let him know. Didn t charge me for the visual inspection and had some great info about the engine. Even pointed out something I should look at replacing down the road. Mike was like having a family member look at your car, you got the feeling he cared about helping you and was very knowledgeable. Great experience!Service: Auto engine diagnostic

Mike was fabulous! My Ford F-150 was giving me some trouble and another mechanic was thinking it was the fuel pump. Mike ran a complete diagnostic test on my truck and explained what each result meant. He figured out it was not the fuel pump at all but an evap hose with a vacuum leak. He gave me a short term solution to make it home and until the part comes in. Not only did he save me $1200 and 3 weeks of worrying on when my truck could get repaired with this issue but he helped me troubleshoot a few other issues I was having! I would definitely recommend him! He was honest and fair with his pricing! I will be returning to him for future work! When no one else could schedule me on such short notice, Mile made room. I thought I had a steering pump issue, brought in my own pump for repairs, and was ready to pay the fair quoted price for labor. Turns out it was just a disconnected hose. Labor cost cut in half and pump returned. They could have made a pretty penny, but Mike was honest and fair! I will definitely be back!!Service: General repairs & maintenance

I have to give these guys a BIG shout out because I have never met a better bunch of mechanics in my life! Mike goes above and beyond his duties to make sure his customers are happy at the end of the day. I am changing my review from a 1 star to 5. I went through Apex to replace my driver side mirror and tend to other repairs. Long story short, I ended up with the wrong mirror. I wasn t able to successfully get in touch with Mike to get the issue resolved for a couple months, but he did reach out to want to rectify the situation. I appreciate him owning the mistake and showing willingness to make it right. Very friendly crew to do business with. After some time, I finally have the right mirror. Went to Apex Auto thinking I had a bad U-joint on my Chevy Yukon. Mike crawled under the truck and within 5 min determined U-joints were fine, the noise I hear was a loose muffler support. This man is dedicated, not only to the work but also to his customers! We desperately needed help but we're on a tight budget. He did our repairs quickly, finding every discount he could for us and offered us an interest free payment plan. He also chose to give us the car back the same day, rather than waiting until it was paid off. It is rare to find a good, trustworthy mechanic, who cares about the well being of his customers and not just getting a paycheck. He will have our business for a long time! Can't recommend him enough!

This shop is the best . My friend Steve is getting his transmission done here and he highly recommend them . Went and had my car looked at had new struts put in and he found me deals I was thinking a lot of money for this with labor. guess what hardly anything. Was done in a very timely manner. I will be back for sure Thanks Guys I will be throwing your name out there whenever anyone asks .Very Honest and nice guy made u feel very welcome and isn t gonna sell you something you don t need APEX Rocks

We are from out of town and had some issues with our vehicle on our way here. These guys got us in to take a look at it. They were so friendly through the entire experience. The family friendly atmosphere was so inviting and extremely endearing! They did not have the tool necessary to fix our specific issue, but gave us the exact information we needed and directed us where we could get the best service for our dollar.

I was one hour into my 10 hour drive when my engine light came on and my cruise control kicked off and wouldn t come back on. They were able to fit me in and fix my problem without any parts! Life saver!!! Highly recommend.

Best place in Duluth. No fancy signs or advertising, no ugly uniforms. Just people with a passion.My 2001 Silverado 1500HD has been having idle issues and a host of other things that I can never fully pinpoint. Every time I go in there the issue is either directly pointed out or they get REAL close to it just by eye and sound before anything is even hooked up. This is the only place I will be going to from now on unless it's something they absolutely can not do.And the best part is, they don't push you to pay for this or buy that. If they see you're trying to learn, they help you figure the issue out so that you can do it yourself.This is a REAL shop.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic
