Got jerked around by two other places here in Detroit Lakes. Fixing things that didn t even get fixed and or suggested replacement of things not in need of fixing at all. Took it to the Pit Stop and got fixed up the right way. Even told me to bring in my own parts to keep cost down. Couldn t say enough about how trusty worth the man is. Not to mention his knowledge and abilities. Sounds like a paid review which i assure you its not. Just couldn t be more grateful and appreciative of someone who is honest.

I was in town on vacation and needed a repair. Pete got me in right away and fixed within 24 hours! He fixed an additional issue he found and his prices were fantastic.

You re not going to find a better shop that this one! Very responsive, quality work, honest fair prices, and to top it all off Pete is just a really great guy.In addition, he really went above and beyond to get my car back on the road ASAP (despite an already full schedule) at a time when I really couldn t be without a car. It s rare to see someone go so far out of their way to help out someone they don t know and that really says a lot about Pete and the way he conducts his business.Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Engine repair

Very kind gentleman gave us advice over the phone when we were driving through Detroit Lakes and our power steering went out. When that didn t work, he took time out of a busy day to pop the power steering belt back on. We ll make it home to Fargo now, where our local guy can do full repairs. INCREDIBLE customer service!!!

We will definitely go back to this place for service. We were having car trouble during a shopping trip to DL and Googled mechanics near us. The closest place said they didn't have time to help us. Pit Stop was the next closest place. The owner took time out of his busy day to check our alternator and battery on our van. He was honest and trustworthy. We were so grateful for his service. We give him 5 stars!

My BMW X5 engine light would sporadically come on and off. I took my car to Pete s Pit Stop. He plugged his code reader into my car and ran a diagnostic test. He deleted all this misfiring codes, ran it again, and my car was clean! Luckily, no issues. The process took about 10 minutes. I offered to pay him, but he refused. Thank you, Pete. What a relief! Brake light came on as we were on our way home to load up the trailer and head out on a trip. We found the Pit Stop as the nearest auto shop around and limped our way there. He had us up and running in no time! We will be back!Service: BrakesService: Brakes

Pete is the best! Very helpful and was able to diagnose the problem with my car just from explaining what was wrong with it. Took about half hour to explain everything g to me and what was wrong with the car and then ran a diagnostic for me free of charge. I have an older car that wasn't starting during the cold snaps we've been having, so I replaced the battery. A day after replacing the old battery, the check engine light came on and the car was having some issues starting again. I had the check engine light looked up at an auto parts store, and they said it was a faulty pedal sensor. I was planning on taking my car to the cities over the weekend and was calling around to see if anyone could make the repair same day. I think I called just about every shop in town!When I called Pit Stop the guy on the phone stated that they were busy and he wouldn't be able to get me in today. However, when I described what was going on he told me that it probably wasn't the pedal sensor and that my car was just getting used to the new battery. I knew that could happen, but didn't realize it could trigger a false check engine light. He recommended not doing any unnecessary repairs and waiting a few days to see if the problem resolved itself. Sure enough, two days later the check engine light turned off on it's own and the car is starting just fine! I appreciate Pit Stop's honesty and advice rather than making an appointment for an unnecessary repair just to get more money. Would definitely recommend!

Stopped in, AC air 100�, Compressor and gas locked up. Man fixed it in 15 minutes, Saved our entire weekend, 3 huskies, 97� F, and 600 Miles. Thank You so Much!
