7AM on a Monday morning, first -5 degree morning, not including wind chill, and my alternator goes out. Son in the backseat to head to for daycare and Mom already left for work.Very rough way to start the week. I called Byron Auto Repair & Towing promptly at 8AM. Cory answered and had the tow truck to our home within 30 minutes. By 9:15AM he had already called back confirming the issue and timeline for fixing my car.I was blown away by the first class service I received by Cory and his team. Thank you for making a stressful situation a little easier!

Byron Auto Repair is the only place I take my Acura MDX for service. Cory, Kendra, Jeff and the entire crew are the best. They are up front, honest, hard working and take great care of my vehicle making sure I am safe on the road. I am hoping my car lasts for many more years and they help me with that fairly & honestly. Thanks

I hate to write a bad review especially since it has been a couple of years since I had service done. But, after two other mechanics told me my rotors were not replaced and I paid $160 dollars for NEW rotors, they said they were put through a resurfacing machine instead. I felt that others should be aware so it doesn't happen to someone else. I replaced my brake pads at the same time and they were shocked that I had so much padding left while the rotors looked like they had been driven over 130,000 miles. They could tell I dont drive the vehicle hard or or a lot. Now I'm spending more money to replace something I already paid for.Service: Brakes

Brought my truck in for what I thought to be a simple AC fix. Turned out to be a little more. They navigated a warranty for us and did quality work for a great price. In all of our interaction with staff, we have felt well taken care of. We would highly recommend this hometown business.Services: Auto A/C recharge, A/C installation & repairServices: Auto A/C recharge, A/C installation & repair

I have utilized this business multiple times in the past and with each service, I get individualized customer service. My needs are always different and dependent on my current circumstances (for example being stranded out of town or a car that won't start in my home). The staff are great to deal with, very polite, honest and respectful. Byron auto has gone above and beyond to see that i get my car back in a timely manner too. They are consistent in the quality of their service, honest and trustworthy. I highly recommend them for auto repairs.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto detailing, Auto battery maintenance, Auto maintenance

Was traveling on our way home and had a wheel bearing fail on our 5th wheel camper and was unable to travel any further. Was able to remove hub but need help getting old bearing out and installing new parts. Called a number of businesses for help but no one wanted to be bothered until I called Byron auto repair and they helped us immediately. Seems they went out of their way to get us back on the road and did not price gouge. Thought pricing was very fair.If I lived In the area definitely would use them for all my car repair needs. This is a very nice, helpful, professional shop.

I woke up to a flat tire on my car. Called AAA and planned to have it towed to a different shop but got a call from Byron Auto suggesting that I'd save money if I had it towed to their shop instead since they were the ones towing. So glad I did! They had my tire patched and fixed in less than an hour and the bill was super reasonable. They were honest and didn't try and sell me on anything I don't need too. Also super professional and friendly at the counter. I would definitely return for my auto repair needs.Service: Tires

I wanted to give a good review but unfortunately I cannot stress that this place replaced stuff that didn't need to be replaced and also kept everything they replaced so I couldn't fix my car properly. I ended up only needing a ground wire grounded and a key made. They replaced my ignition switch, tumbler, battery (that was brand new, and now I have no stereo, no keyfob or a working key for my door (wasn't explained). This was my worse experience so far with a mechanic shop. I cannot with a clear mind suggest anyone to use them especially if you don't have to. Do not tell them how much you can spend every time they went over the allowed amount.(Update) they charged my for a key tumbler but actually didn't replace it since my original key still started the car. Who knows what else they didn't replace. Plus the ground they fixed they used a sheet metal screw instead of using proper grounding procedures. AGAIN DO NOT GO HERE IF AVOIDABLE!Service: Auto maintenance

My dad recently used their service. They have good customer service, but when it comes to prices they are pretty too high compared to other places we have been. And also took too much time for few repairs done.Definitely we will think twice before going back.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Vehicle InspectionServices: General repairs & maintenance, Vehicle Inspection

Brought in my 1999 Nissan for an $85 alignment, left with a $540 bill after replacing a lower control arm that was installed very recently. Not impressed with that. Asked to see the worn part, no visible damage or loose bushing like they had explained. I am glad to see that it was installed properly at least.Services: Steering & suspension repair, Wheel alignmentServices: Steering & suspension repair, Wheel alignment

Very happy they are an AAA shop. Towed us after only waiting 15 minutes on the side of the road (in the middle of nowhere) and repaired our car quickly so we were on our way. Really saved us. Even reset our radio after they pulled the battery. Guys worked thru lunch to get us on our way. Thank you!

Had a flat tire fixed here. They got me inand out within a half hour. Courteous and helpful. Downside, $50.00 seems a little excessive to plug a tire and put it on the car. I would use them again but will put my tire on the car and save $30.00.

Had tires put on Friday afternoon, Saturday morning one was flat, I called in I got a rude voice saying nothing could be done till Monday. After taking it to another shop, they showed me the wheel was broken in 3 places. No sure how Byron Auto could have missed the 3 large cracks in the wheel when switching out tires, the cracks were clearly visible from the back of the wheel. I would suggest saving your self the headache and looking else where.Service: Tires

With all the craziness in the world right now, my mom was on her way to WI (a 7 hr drive from her house to mine) in an attempt to get closer to family. She ran into come car troubles just outside of Byron, I google searched the nearest place to tow and repair her car. Tim was AMAZING, they got to her within 10 min, fixed her car and got her back on the road.Low and behold, 50 miles down the road again she had a car issue (this time she needed radiator and cooling fan replaced). We called the shop again- they immediately left to pick her up and tow her again. They fixed both of the issues, and completed a thorough check, took her car for extra long drive themselves to help make sure no other issues would hopefully not show up.During both of the incidents Tim and his crew were so professional, considerate and understanding.I would recommend them to anyone in the area!!!

I took a 2011 Hyundai Sonata in to get the rear brake pads replaced as well as a tune up. In the end I was charged for rear brakes, rear rotors, spark plugs, and an O2 sensor. The price seemed a little high for the work but not too far out, so I approved it all and accepted the costs. However a big issue arose when I drove the vehicle immediately after picking it up. I made a short 20 mile trip to a grocery store and immediately smelled something burning in the driver side rear wheel well when I exited the car. White smoke was also visible. Once I finished shopping I drove back to the shop and informed them of what I had seen. They said they would check it out and get back to me the next day. Over the next few days they checked various parts including the brake lines and calipers. In the end they said it looked like both calipers had frozen up and had to be replaced, but asserted it was due to normal wear (car does have 153k miles on it). They also replaced the brake lines, though I'm not sure if that was necessary now. I questioned the calipers as being a random fluke as I had no issues with them previously and it seemed quite a huge coincidence for both calipers to fail at that exact same point in time, especially when they had to remove the calipers for the other brake work they did. The owner was happy to discuss this but said calipers are pretty resilient and there's really nothing they would have done that could have damage them. In the end they waived the labor charges and I was charged $417 for parts (2 calipers and brakes lines). Afterwards I contacted a mechanic I used previously (we recently moved so I was looking for a new local shop) who said it isn't common that the calipers would have been damaged, but it is possible if the pistons weren't pushed in correctly. He said that might catch a rubber boot in the caliper and pinch/damage it, which in turn could cause the pistons to stick. He also said the price of $414 seemed to be pretty high for the 4 parts they replaced (calipers and hoses), saying a closer estimate would have been $300, if that. There were some pluses, the shop does provide free loaner cars and the owner seemed to be a nice guy.So take this review as you want. Maybe it was a one-in-a-million fluke, but from the circumstances I saw something was definitely different with the calipers after they worked on the car and it cost me a lot more money than it should have.

Awful service very rude!I had my car towed due to an accident. I called at least 6 times asking about my car. Every time it diffrent story with a different price of how much to get my car out. I was finally able to go to the place physically as we were able to purchase a new car. Once we were there the deal they had set for us was that we owed over 1000(which they never disclosed to us over the phone)in fees or we pay 287 and they still keep my car? We had no choice and we had to pay it . It was unfair because we had asked for our car to be towed home the day of the accident and our home was closer then their facility. They still towed it to byron. They are willing to manipulate any situation to make the most profit!

Byron auto repair was professional, honest, and overall great to work with. They even offered to pick up my vehicle and drop it off after they were done working on it. this was my first experience and will not be last!

We are new in the area and were in need of a mechanic, so we gave Byron Auto Repair a try. Byron Auto Repair offers a very competitive hourly rate (~$70/hr.). Unfortunately, they overcharge on parts and not just by a small margin. The first time I went I had a leaking power steering line replaced. Even at OEM price the replacement part in question is no more than $25, yet it was priced by Byron Auto at ~$60. The receptionist told me they use multiple manufacturers for parts, so you could be paying a premium OEM price for a cheaper aftermarket part. I can understand convenience charges, but that 300% overcharge is a little much on what could be a very cheap part for them.I did given them a second chance, but this time I supplied the parts and was very specific with what I wanted them to do. They will do this, but you don't get their "one year warranty on parts and installation. Now comes instance number three. We have a shake originating in the driver's side on a car that just climbed over 100k miles. Byron Auto replaced the outer tie rods. The service was done fine, but didn't fix the problem. After some added cost and time with Byron Auto the problem isn't fixed. It seems they'd sooner nickel and dime me with small suggestions rather than actually fix the issue. I took the vehicle to another mechanic and it was fixed during the first visit for 1/3 of what I wound up paying at Byron Auto trying to figure it out. They did an okay job in first two cases, but if you have a pricy repair and have the gumption do a parts price check versus what they say it will cost. If you have an issue that doesn't have a clear solution be prepared for them to say, "Lets try this..." many times as a quick way to cash in.If you absolutely need a repair done locally go to them, but it may not necessarily be a "done deal" after your first, second, and so on visit.

Before you call them for towing beware the hidden fees; they re money hungry and very entitled. Never worked with such deceitful people who try to squeeze every cent out of you. I would give negative stars if I could.

Even though it was an unfortunate situation for me they where so understanding about everything it was so nice they made my day so much easier. Will be bringing my future business to them and would suggest others to do the same! Thank you the 4 awesome people who helped me out today!
