This business was on my Mom list of recommended auto repair places close to my sons college. Their customer service, prompt repair and fair prices are so much appreciated. I have to say what a comfort it was to have my son and his car taken care of from a distance and feel confident we weren t being taken advantage of. Amazing service! They were friendly, knowledgeable and fair in their pricing. The part that they replaced required taking off the manifold, so the guys were forward-thinking and changed the bad spark plugs while they had access, saving me a future headache. I appreciate that type of honesty and fairness in a business... especially when it comes to my vehicle. 10 out of 10 recommend and we will bring all our vehicles there!Service: Engine repair

I never give five star reviews, but in this case Dan and his staff at Swanstrom earned six stars. It was Friday morning, and I required immediate auto repair. I am new to Alexandria, and did not have a prior history with another mechanic in town. I was given a few names of reputable service stations, but they were all booked up.Then I called Swanstrom, and Dan answered. Dan said he had five bays full of vehicles already being serviced. I explained I was new to the area, had just one day off, and needed to drive to the cities, with a small blizzard supposedly rolling in around noon. I begged Dan to just take a look, and I would wait in the office for an estimate. Dan hesitantly agreed, so I made my way to the shop.Upon arrival, I was greeted by the shop's mascot. A good natured black lab, that enjoyed good ear massage like anyone would. I waited patiently, and Dan eventually advised me that I had a serious need for an oil change, and that I only needed minor repairs regarding my innitial concerns. I told Dan to address the oil change, fix the other issue, and I would leave a happy man.Here's the kicker! Upon completion, one of his staff mentioned to me in the lot, "Hey, your tabs are expired." In my recent relocation to this area, I had totally forgotten to update my tabs. So I immediately went to the motor vehicle registration office and obtained new plates and tabs.By now the snow had already started falling, I was running late but feeling lucky, so I drove back to Swanstrom and told Dan I did not have tools in the car and needed to get out of town before the storm rolled in. Dan advised me that the plate screws were stripped and would have to be cut off, which took his staff longer than they were hoping. Dan, being the class act he is, did not charge me for me pushing my luck and requesting the additional assistance.Needless to say, I have a new mechanic. His name is Dan, he mentioned his mascot's name when I arrived, but I was too worried about my issue and busy petting him to remember. But I'll be back, and pay more attention next time, when I ask for his name again from Dan.PS: I'm attaching photos of other motorists that did not fair so well with the blizzard traveling conditions. Fortunately, with my repairs and alert driving, I made it back in one peace...all thanks to Swanstrom. Keep up the great work guys!Service: General repairs & maintenance

Honest, friendly, hard working and clean auto shop. Loved the 2 pups there too. My Grandma went to Terry when she was alive over 20 years ago and raved about his work. Each mechanic, Terry and Sheri were so great when I went to get my AC looked at today. In and out and now I m not sweating in my truck thanks to them highly recommend!Service: Air conditioning

Best service in town. I would like to say a huge thank you to the mechanics and the awesome woman in the office for going above and beyond. I highly recommend this place to anyone needing service or repair. Repaired my alternator in my Honda pilot with quick and professional service. I would give more stars if I could. Price was very fair and reasonable.

Called with an emergency as my power steering fluid was leaking.....they were booked until June 8th but Sheri checked & said to bring it in to have them look. Went right over & Dan knew what needed to be done, said they would get it in. Sooo appreciated that as we are from out of town. Would highly recommend them....Service & kindness is the best!Service: General repairs & maintenance

Recently have been chasing an AC issue in my fiances 2015 sonic. They did an amazing job making sure we knew exactly what was going on and when. We were in the hospital having a baby the day the car was done and they let me leave it after paying to pick it up when we could and it left with amazing working AC. Couldn't of asked for a better experience.

Dan and his team are the best. When our AC went out in our Tahoe, he searched around locally and online rigorously to find our part needed. He made it his mission. And we appreciate that as he was swamped with work, it was a dead heat couple weeks of summer and we had a 3 year old and a newborn. And another time before a long trip, we had a coolant leak - they were jam packed, but got us in and out right before our trip - which could have been a disaster. I can't say enough great things about Swanstrom Auto. Their service is top notch. I'd recommend them every time.

They didn't have a record of the appointment I made because they "don't actually pay attention to that," (meaning the calendar) and the tech was gone driving someone home or something when I arrived. It was a 50-minute drive to get there too.What is typically a 15-minute visit during my lunch break turned out to be 1.5 hours and I got written up by my employer as a result. No apologies for the MAJOR INCONVENIENCE! Not cool Swanstrom.

Very friendly and courteous, and a prime example of a good family owned small town business. I dropped my vehicle off two days before my appointment for a new alternator and they ended up squeezing it in on the same day. They were even courteous enough to give me a ride home and pick me back up. I would definitely recommend this shop.

Great friendly staff reasonable rates. Got the job done quickly and I was on my way! Recharged AC on my vehicle! Works great!

Let's be honest. A friendly atmosphere while at the dentist can have a calming effect while you're racked out at the dentist amd everyone there knows toure about to be immolattedThe same can almost be offensive and nerve racking while having service repair work done to your vehicle.Questions like : Whats wrong? How long will this take? How many limbs will I need to sell in order to pay this off?!Swanstrom's Auto Repair service technicians handle all this in a manner designed to keep you honestly informed and intelligently advised (whens the last time your weekend garage buddy told you that "he didn't know but I'll go find out" pr the 7hour long DIY YouTube video updated with "so. 2 weeks later and that didn't work so disregard that other video").We've all been concerned about our vehicles and we all know the "extended warranty" scams by now...I left these guys 5 stars and I'll leave any readers with this:The beautiful people at Swanstrom's automotive ARE my vehicles extended warranty and I hope to keep it that way for many years.No, this isn't a paid advertisement but my girlfriend and I both agreed we felt the same.Cheers

Just flat out amazing customer service. We take all our vehicles there. Dan even went out of his way to help us with a vehicle and sadly wasn't able to fix it but that isn't his fault as they don't mKe the part any more. Will always suggest them to others. Thanks Dan and your crew you guys are amazing

While on vacation/family reunion in Alexandria,Mn our Camry decided it was going to have a battery and alternator go bad.this was on Friday afternoon at 2:00. After talking to three other shops that could not do the repair that late on a Friday the last guy we talked to referred us to Dan at swanstrom s he said it s kinda late but understanding your situation we will figure out a way to get it done.Dan and his team went above and beyond to get it done and by 4:20 they had a new alternator,battery and surpentine belt replaced on a particularly difficult job given a 6 cylinder crammed into such a small space.The job was done professionally at a very fair price.Thank you team for saving the family reunion/ vacation.This whole scenario could have gone so wrong in so many ways and your team made everything right.Thank You!One satisfied customer

I ve had a great experience the couple of times I ve used Swanstrom. Very friendly, straight forward with the price which I ve found to be fair. Took them a little longer on a job than expected and I still was only charged what they estimated. I got caught with a dead battery far from home. They were able to get to me in about 5 minutes, and I had a new battery installed 15 minutes later. I wasn t overcharged for the service call and was treated with great service. I would recommend them to anyone in the Alec area.Service: BatteryService: Battery

OMG what a fantastic man and business. My story, girls weekend. Did I say we're from Minneapolis. Well anyways my truck started leaking anti freeze. Didn't know what I was going to do. Got a recommendation from Wendy Barnett who works the front desk at the Best Western. Even though Terry said he was booked until next week, he said He could take a look.. So generous and kind. He and his wonderful assistant whose name I didn't get took care of me and my truck. Reasonably priced also. Would recommend this business to anyone. Again wonderful man and business

Dan, Terry and their staff are nothing short of fantastic! They are professional, fair, dependable and bend over backwards to help out when in a bind. I wouldn't take our vehicles anywhere else. Hometown service at its finest. I was in town for Thanksgiving Holiday and had a sticky rear caliper. Called in on a Friday morning and I was able to get in the same day. Great service right there. I feel so much better driving home knowing my car was at 100%. Hats off to the whole TEAM at Swanstrom Auto Repair. My bill was less than quoted so an even better end to my amazing experience.Thank you Swanstrom Auto Repair for getting me back on the road safely. I am very THANKFUL this holiday season for great people making great things happen.

Honest mechanics that don't price gouge. Dan is very good at simplifying issues for those of us who aren't car savvy. I've brought my vehicles here since I found them and wouldn't trust anyone to be as straight or fair with me as they are.

Fair priced and quick service! Great knowledge and invaluable auto experience to fix problems right the first time! They don't tack on a bunch of extra parts that you really don't need in order to fix your vehicle. I'd highly recommend them!

Swanstrom worked on an old diesel plow truck I picked up this summer. Had it towed in, and drove it away running great. Labor and parts price was in the ballpark. Told them it wasn't a rush, but they got to the job quickly anyway, and made sure everything was good to go before I picked it up. Will be bringing some of our other vehicles here in the future.

I will always use this place for any and all auto repair. they are a very affordable shop. They do top notch work. they are very friendly and knowledgeable. I think there the best shop in our area. check them out. they will most likely beat out everyone on prices.

I have been taking my cars to Swanstrom's for over 20 years. They are the best. When my son moved to the Twin Cities he soon discovered that he was smarter to drive 120 miles back to Alexandria and get his car fixed right and at a chipper price. I would recommend them to anyone that wants the job done right the first time.

Great hometown service! I actually bring my vehicle from a town 30 miles away to have it serviced at Swanstrom. Honest and reliable mechanics! Takes the time to explain the work being done and very fair pricing.

Great service and fair price. They were able to fix an issue for me and didn't work like other places I've been to that charged me for extra things or try to convince me that I needed to do more work than necessary. Sent a friend in with an issue and they fixed it the same day. Won't go anywhere else!

If your new to town and want a fast, friendly, knowledgable mechanic this is the place!. The other reviews say it as well, glad I took the chance will be going back to this shop for all my auto needs, great service, great price and was able to get in quick, they answered all of my questions.
