My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this historic inn. The room had comfortable beds, adequate space, and it had a refrigerator and microwave. We loved sitting in the beautiful lobby and enjoying a great fire. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The reasonable price for this area , had me worried but we will be going back!Plenty of great restaurant s in the area and walking on the lake shore was a bonus!

Located a short walk from the beach, Gordon Beach Inn is a quaint and cozy place to stay. It's an older building so it has a ton of character. There are no TVs so it feels like you are escaping a lot of the noise. They do have WiFi. There is coffee in the morning but no breakfast. If you are looking for a place that isn't a chain hotel and has more of a homey atmosphere, give Gordon Beach Inn a try.

I visited Union Pier for the first time. My Mom was considering booking a room at Gordon Beach Inn. When we entered the lobby, and inquired about using a public restroom, we were immediately turned away, and was told all bathrooms were out of order. The humanity side of me did not want to believe that this was racism, but I have a hard time believing this was anything else. Please do not stay here- they should not be allowed to get away with this type of behavior!

Old lodge feel to this place makes it a very unique stay. Surrounding is beautiful and short walk to the beach.Unfortunately experience was spoiled with the lady from the front desk.I have a service dog that goes with me everywhere , still I check for dog friendly hotels as my preference. Hotel web page shows that they are dog friendly on specific rooms and I made sure i was on one of those rooms before arriving. There s no mention of dog fee on the web page and service dogs are also free from those charges.Lady charged me a fee straight on my card , without my consent , and sent me an email later . Went to explain the situation and she refused to understand and told me next time choose another hotel to stay. After paying 200$ for one night this is not the type of service you are expecting. 50$ motel will treat you with more respect .

I have stayed at this charming inn numerous times, in all seasons. In the fall there is a huge stone fireplace in the main area to relax , read , sip coffee or wine. We enjoy the nearby wineries and pumpkin farms at harvest. In the summer, you are a few short blocks to Lake Michigan through a quiet country setting. The restaurant on property has changing hours, but is welcoming with an interesting menu. A screened in porch, fire pits, lounge chairs and good company makes this a cozy unpretentious spot to enjoy a break from city life. I can t wait to return again in July. Renting a bicycle to explore and get around to shops, groceries and several restaurants close by. New Buffalo is 3 miles south, with tons of shops and other restaurants.

While traveling to Michigan for the holidays, we found ourselves in need of a place to stay close to our vacation rental and a day in advance due to the incoming winter storm. We were beyond delighted to experience this incredible gem! Our dogs were welcomed and our kids, too! We enjoyed a quiet evening near the large fireplace and a comfortable room to rest our heads for the night. Sam, the General Manager, went above and beyond in the middle of a blizzard to ensure we were comfortable. If you are looking for a spot to unplug any time of year, an extremely reasonable rate, and a walk through history, this is your place. We'll be back for years to come!Food & drinks: The attached restaurant, The Grove, provided one of the best meals my husband and I have ever enjoyed. Chef Esuardo is incredible!

This is a cute hotel with friendly staff, clean and comfy rooms. A short walk to Lake Michigan through a beautiful neighborhood with beautiful homes and gardens. A short walk to a deli, grocery store and gelato place. A short walk to renting a bike which was a nice ride to New Buffalo. Loved this place and will definitely stay again.Rooms: The room was comfy with a king bed, big bathroom, jacuzzi tub and rocking chairs.Nearby activities: Beach is a short walk where you share with the neighborhood. Bike rental is a short walk and riding to New Buffalo was a nice ride.Safety: The neighborhood felt safe and I had no problem walking around.Walkability: A short walk to several activities.

My guy and I recently stayed at the Inn, mid July, and we were totally pleased with the room, which we upgraded upon arrival, and the grounds. All of the accommodations were exceptional but wanted a larger room that became available. The staff was friendly, personable, and helpful. We ate at The Grove, which is an in-house restaurant with exceptional wait staff and delicious cuisine, masterfully prepared by the chef. The dining room offered 2 screened porch areas, as well as the indoor dining space. The entire inn was warm and welcoming with a homey feel. We plan to make this our place to stay when we visit the area again!

This is a wonderful, special spot. So much travel now is either high-end luxury or super-sketchy -- this is a wonderful safe, cozy, comfortable place affordable to normal people! And since they're not charging stupid prices for lodging, my partner and I could afford the truly-excellent meals at the Grove and other places around the area. (And DEFINITELY eat at the Grover, which is fully worth it; better than a lot of places I've eaten that had much fancier aspirations.)

We always stay here! The prices are very reasonable and it s pet friendly (on the first floor). The Inn is always very clean. We love bringing a bottle of wine to the lobby and fireplace area to share with other guests. We love the history of the place. There is a fire pit outside and access to 2 private beaches. The restaurant is very accommodating and has served us in the lobby with our pup. They can even serve you breakfast in a cute picnic basket. I highly recommend a stay here!

Excellent hidden gem! My wife, daughter and ourselves went to this hotel, exhausted at the end of a long trip. We had an amazing rest at this comfortable hotel in a peaceful setting. More importantly, this hotel is on the list of national historic sites, and the photos don't do it justice. It was built in 1924 approx. and the building has so much character. It reminds me of a place the high society in the 1920's would hang out at. The staff do remarkably well in keeping it up, especially since it's an older building. It didn't have a hint of odor you would expect in an old building, it smelled good. It's a short walk from a quiet beach. Several restaurants in walking distance. We will be back and appreciate all the work that has been done to restore this building, as I'm a history buff.

Everything at this inn was just a wonderful experience. The room was spotless and smelled great. The staff were friendly and helpful, and they were very accommodating to my husband and I bringing our dog. Our dog was even allowed to sit with us while we dined at the gourmet restaurant in the inn! They just set us up right inside the lobby adjacent to the restaurant and we were waited on there like normal. The breakfast here is also worth it, trust me! Since we had a dog, we were given a pass to the nearby private beach of Lakeside Inn, which is a wonderful beach! Quiet and peaceful with friendly people. Don't hesitate to stay at this inn! I'll be back many times.

Pros and cons here.Pros. Awesome service and staff. Outstanding attitudes.Cons. Rooms are tooooooooo old. When we checked in we saw a lot of dog hairs on the blanket and bed. It was really really gross. It's pet friendly but you do need to clean the rooms after the pets leave... Not enough outlets. AC wasn't working etc. It's OK if you use their beach for convenience. Otherwise I don't recommend It.

We went to Michigan with the intent of eloping! We were going to marry at the courthouse, but then decided to find an officiant and get married right at the inn. Tina found our officiant and made our wedding just what we wanted it to be. The room we stayed in was perfect and the setting is beautiful. This was a wonderful trip and a great stay. Highly recommend if you are looking to get away from it all and fall in love all over again! We will be back for our anniversary!! Huge thanks to everyone who helped us pull this off!

This is a small and simple place but very cozy and quiet. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very comfortable and the inn is taking very great precautions to ensure it s clean and safe. Love that there are no TVs in the rooms! On site restaurant (dinner only) is excellent, and we love hanging out in the lobby by the fire. Close to wineries, breweries and the beach. Michigan in the off season is magic.

This is a quaint location with a historically restored building from the 1920s that has around 20 cozy rooms with private bathrooms. The property is close to the lake on a quiet street. There s a lot of places to sit and chat with friends either inside or out.It was a nice place to relax with family and friends and we look forward to coming again.
