I should have written this review years ago. I have been a customer here multiple times as it is only 5 minutes from my house, and every time I have walked in the 3+ people at registers don't even look up-- sorry Im not a hot chick. If you're lucky enough someone will reluctantly greet you. The employees either know everything and treat you like an idiot or know nothing and are useless. If you know exactly what you need you can shop here but don't go here expecting anyone to go out of their way to help you. The Thirlbys in Honor, MI is actually good. Thirlby's in TC is where all the people that post on automotive forums get jobs. The only reason I gave it two stars instead of one is because of this one guy that works there that isn't a d-bag. I'm sure all the employees think they're that one guy. Go to NAPA.

I went here for some windshield wipers and then for my Moped some stabilizer for storage, quick, easy, and friendly. They were easily able to get what I needed and did so efficiently. So no complaints.

Chad was so resourceful & helpful with my RV mirror to get me back on the road. He went above & beyond Jimmy rigging a solution together for me, so I didn't have to wait for weeks for an RV part. Excellent job Chad

Our car broke down while traveling on a Sunday, and luckily we made it here where one associate helped immediately diagnose the problem several others couldn't figure out. He then called his friend, a mechanic to come and replace the part for us. I'm so glad we came to this Thirlby. Thank you!

Will never shop here. Parked in their lot, intending to go inside. Walked away from my vehicle a few steps to make a phone call before going in, and was accosted by some J-hole screaming at me from the door saying I wasn't allowed to park in their lot. Oh well, then! Plenty of other hardware stores.

Andy at Thirlby delivered outstanding service! He was professional, friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and personable. He went above and beyond by being kind enough to install my rear brake light bulb, in the rain!Please continue to support local business, specifically the 8th street Thirlby location while they weather through all this construction downtown. Great guys that have my loyalty!

I had never been inside this business before although I have driven by it for years. They came highly recommend as the ones to go to. I had a painting project and would never have thought of them. I have to say- best service experience! Everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful. The color match was perfect and I received step-by -step instructions.

Thirlby's has always taken care of me- the staff is the most knowledgeable of any parts store I've been to; and the prices are very fair, even in the current economic state. Highly recommended for parts, tools, oil, and paint.

A big shout out to Chad! I was replacing my license plate and a screw broke off! I took my vehicle in and Chad magically got the broken plastic screw out and replaced the screw and put my new plate on for me. Left to my own devices on this task it would have been a disaster! Thirlby's is always willing to help out their customers and go the extra mile or two. THANK YOU!!!

If I could put zero stars I would. I stopped to get a part. When I went in four people were standing around doing nothing. When I left their parking lot I got a flat tire from a nail in their parking lot. It was so bad that it sounded like an air hose because of the force of the air. When I called to tell them they never offered anything just was rude on the phone.

Got some windshield wiper fluid and set it on the ground on the passenger side of the car only for half of the gallon to leak out into my carpet even though I never removed the cap and there was foil still there just not completely sealed. Now I can add carpet soaked in windshield wiper fluid to the list of problems with my car. Good place to buy affordable parts though and always a friendly staff.

Love, love, love these guys. They may not be the cheapest but the have the best selection and will always treat you right. Service is amazing. Called them on New year's eve on the off chance they'd have a heater core for my 96 Buick. On the shelf! Thanks Thirlby for saving the day.

Chad saved my bacon. Memorial Day weekend the car started smoking and leaking oil like crazy. We barely made it to Traverse City, and Thirbly would be closing in less than an hour. Chad was on it. He took a look at the car, and when it started to seem like this would be a more complicated repair, he gave me the parts I would possibly need (assuring me that I could return any that I didn t use) and sent me down the road to a mechanic acquaintance. I honestly don t know what I would have done if the guys at Thirlby s hadn t been so helpful. This is the kind of experience that you remember all your life!

We are on vacation from Florida and our coil pack died. The car was just barely making it. We visited 2 Thirlby's in Traverse City in order to get a part for our car. The reps were very knowledgeable and friendly. They really value their customers

Great service. Polite, professional, and knowledgeable. They also have a ridiculously large amount of parts in-stock even for vehicle's that you can never seem to find parts for (without online order.) Have got my parts and tools from them for years. 10/10 would reccomend

Needed a car battery and they were very helpful with a very reasonable price. Everyone was very nice. I also liked the cramped, busy feel of the place. Those are the best types of parts / hardware stores, where you know the people there know what they are talking about.

Customer service is TOP NOTCH here! Everyone has a great attitude and are very helpful and knowledgeable. Will definitely go here for all of my auto needs! Shout out to Ray...installed a car battery in the rain for me - I owe you, man!

There was a newer guy working behind the counter. He did great and everyone was very professional, I was looking for very specific parts and they had what I needed and more. Lowest prices in town as well. Very recommended auto parts store!

If you live here in Northern Michigan try and keep your money here too. Thirlby is one of two locally owned and operated auto parts companies I know of. They always are willing to help and the customer service is what you expect. It's that old TC feel without getting your head knocked off on price for parts or paint. When the dealerships and local mechanics buy there then there is often a good reason. Of course there are fancier franchise box stores...by all means if you like paying more for the same item you are encouraged, I'm sure they are ones by a local person too.

Established in 1961 Thirlby Automotive has a long history of great customer care coupled with a huge inventory of parts. They have been my first choice for automotive parts for many years and will remain so!

Thirlby is the best. Knowledgeable staff, prices I can rarely beat even when shopping the Internet and parts are usually in stock or delivered the next day. My only gripe is that they are not open later on Sunday, but it is nice they give their workers that time off.

Incredible customer service. I was on a weekend vacation and my thermostat housing cracked and I was stranded on a Sunday with work looming on Monday morning in Detroit. They helped diagnose the problem, had the corect parts, and checked in during the repair process and helped. Incredible I am so thankful. Very polite and professional!

I'm so thankful for a place like this in Traverse City! After the oil change place told me I needed 7 new lights I wanted to check to see if I could install them myself. Andy helped me get what I needed and offered to install the ones he could. Upon inspection, it turned out the lights were just loose but Andy worked with me to fix all the "burnt" lights I had and showed me how to do it myself so if it happens again I can fix it. Can't say thank you enough for people like this willing to help out. Even though I didn't buy anything this time, I know I will return to Thirlby for any auto part needs.

Awesome service ! Came in for wiper blades for our BMW X5 and when it came up on the computer that they might need some odd add on s ( leave it to BMW ). Ryan offered to come out and put them on for us just in case. Nothing special and we were on the road in minutes. Would recommend this place

Great selection of parts. Extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The staff has helped me out a lot over the years with advice and instructions on how to fix most everything on my truck. Recommend.

Everyone here is knowledgeable and friendly. I've never had a problem, and the service is fast. They always have what I need on hand. Good group of people.
