I could not be happier. I have had this car at multiple mechanics and this was the best experience of all. These guys were so fast and very professional. The big thing is they actually listened to me! They did everything I asked for. Price was absolutely reasonable. They have earned by forever business.Thank you again.

These guys have been great. My older Hyundai needed a lot of maintenance and TLC after it sat outside all winter. Red squirrels had nested in my engine, and they ate every wire to everything in the engine! These guys fixed all that and got me back on the road again pretty quickly. I also had brakes done and oil changes. Every appointment I was greeted by professionals with great communication and service. I'm so glad I found this shop for my auto repair needs!

Today I had snow tires swapped out. They did it quickly and with the their typical great service! Nicely priced too.Previous: I got new brake pads and rotors put on my car. Staff were kind and pleasant and prices were fair. It was easy to schedule and the work was completed quickly. Nobody likes taking their car in for repair work but Marathon Automotive made it a good experience.

I was on vacation and was pulling my trailer with my truck, when the brakes went out on my truck. I managed to get it stopped right in front of Marathon Automotive. It was after hours, so I called them the next morning. By early afternoon, I was back on the road. The cost was more than reasonable. Highly recommend.

Beware of unnecessary repairs. My Ford Expedition was involved in a parking lot collision and my insurance company mostly worked with Gerber. They don't do alignments, though, so they sent my truck over to Marathon. Marathon said they could not do the alignment because the rear upper control arm was seized but they could repair it for $750 or thereabouts. I was a little skeptical because my car has lived almost its whole life in Florida... After looking up the part and learning that it cost about $100, then using a database to learn that the labor time is less than one hour, I declined the repair, which also means that I'll have to pay for the alignment out of pocket. I took it to my own very reputable mechanic who was able to loosen the bolt with a hand wrench and a quarter turn. He said it turned easily. Literally, zero repairs were needed. And this is anecdotal, but he shared with me that someone else had been in the shop two weeks earlier because Marathon had told them a repair would cost $2200. It was actually a $600 repair. No need to editorialize further, just take that information for what it's worth.Service: Wheel alignment

I have been a customer of Marathon Auto for many years and have had multiple fleet vehicles as well as my personal vehicles serviced by Rob and his crew. I can't say enough about their professionalism from the time they pick up the phone until I come to pick up my vehicle. Thank you so much to the entire team at Marathon but especially to Rob for keeping knowledgable and friendly staff who are always willing to go the extra mile!

I had my brakes replaced here and then ran into a couple problems. No problem for Marathon Automotive! They rescued me on the highway near Manton, provided a loaner car for the weekend and then after making the repair they drove the car to make sure there was not as issue! These guys are top-notch. My wife was up in Traverse City visiting family when her Miata broke down. Had it towed to Marathon Automotive hoping we made the right choice... we did. Determined it was a bad Alternator.... it was replaced and she was on her way. This could have been a vacation nightmare but Marathon checked all the boxes.... Price, Quality and Delivery. Really vague and expensive estimate on some simple front end work I ended up doing myself. They just went by the "book price"I ended up not using them but I will say they had the best availability I could find so if you need something in a pinch and don't mind paying for it they might be the place to go when everyone else is backed up for 2+ weeks. They do good work and can do things other shops can't like tires and alignments.

My name is Susan Whittington. I have a 2006 Subaru Legacy which is still in good shape. I see no reason to spend $$$ on a different vehicle when I have such a qualified crew to keep me rolling down the road. I have taken my vehicle to Marathon Auto for many years now. As an older, single woman.. I feel blessed to have this auto repair shop close to me when the need arises. I recently had an issue with an air filter.. it was still under warranty and was replaced without any hassle. Robert has gone over and above, and has been very professional, as have Erinn and Marty. Called in and Trevor quickly scheduled me for the next day to swap all 4 tires, and quoted me for the service before I hung up.The person that greeted me at the front desk wasn t Trevor, and was a bit standoffish when I asked if they torque to spec (they do).Took about 45 minutes and no complaints - other than the extra 10% they added to my bill which is not what I was quoted over the phone. I trust the other reviews on here, but have my reservations for returning due to the pricing discrepancies Edit - Rob thanks for the call, and explaining the situation here - that makes perfect sense and is an easy mistake to make (and that you were more than happy to remedy). Appreciate your service!

I needed my car checked out while I was on vacation in Traverse City. I called several places and this place had the best reviews. It, in fact, deserves all the good reviews it is getting. They were very accommodating, reasonably priced, and fixed all the issues I was having in a timely fashion. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a mechanic they can trust. Thanks for the work on my 2013 Ford Fusion. If I lived in Traverse City I would always go to this place.

We have been taking our cars to Marathon Automotive for many years now. They are very friendly to work with, always do a good job, and just make the overall experience very pleasant. We also buy our tires there. Prices have always been competitive, and their products are excellent. I always feel I get an honest opinion from them regarding tires. They listen to my needs, and try to sell the most appropriate tire, even if it's not the most expensive tire they sell. One year they even exchanged a set of snow tires for a different tire after I had them home for a few days. No charge, no hassle. They will always get my business.

The customer service at Marathon Auto is above and beyond expectations.I called to get tire recommendations and pricing for both of my cars.Ross patiently took a great deal of time to explain the options.I ended up going with his recommendations for both cars and have been very pleased with the results.He also pursued a credit for the older tires on one of the cars even though I did not purchase them from Marathon Auto.All of the staff are consistently very friendly and helpful.This was my first experience with Marathon Auto and the great customer service will keep me coming back.

So, a woman walks into a car repair place ... and gets treated great!I was having a set of tires installed, from my husband's order. In response to my casual question to the front desk attendant about the suitability of the tires for heavy snow, the senior mechanic came out and talked with me for 15 minutes.He discussed the pros and cons of the tire model for longevity and Michigan winter driving, speaking with tremendous enthusiasm and no detectable condescension. Since we ordered the tires online for delivery to the store, it wasn't a sales pitch - just a knowledgeable opinion validating our choice and providing maintenance advice, for which I was very grateful.The front desk attendant also explained an air pressure sensor issue specific to the car model, and the warning was reset at no extra charge. The cost of installation/tire disposal was somewhat lower than we had expected, and the service was done in less than an hour. The waiting area was comfortable, with no loud TV.All in all, the best car maintenance experience I've had in years.

Great service! We have been bringing our cars here since we moved to Traverse City four years ago. We have always received helpful advice and great service. Once a control rod on my old beater Jeep broke and Marathon found that it was under recall and we ended up getting it fixed free from the dealer. On several other occasions Marathon has gone beyond the call of duty. We highly recommend them!

I was introduced to Marathon Automotive many years ago and they continue to service my vehicle today. The technicians are top-notch and their service is second to none. They always manage to fit me into their very hectic schedule even at a last minute's notice. I have had no complaints and no problems with the work that they have performed on my SUV. They are very courteous and make me feel welcome every time I walk through their door. They will always be my preferred choice.

I live in Georgia, and am visiting Traverse City. I had been told by a shop in Georgia that I needed to have the brakes replaced. I asked Marathon for a second opinion, and was told they were fine. They could have charged me for new brakes, but did not. Very honest of them.Service: BrakesService: Brakes

My husband and I take our cars to Marathon Auto anytime we have an issue come up. The staff is always friendly, knowledgeable, and provide excellent customer service. Their work is done in a timely fashion and is impeccable. I highly recommend Marathon Auto!

What can I say that has not already been said so many times. We have had the pleasure of utilizing Marathon Automotive a number of times for general automotive needs as well as emergency situations. The staff has been very professional and helpful. We will continue to send our vehicles to the qualified staff at Marathon for many years to come. There was a mix-up on the pricing for the oil change. The prices had increased since the last time I had been serviced (due to both supply chair and staffing issues outside of the owners control) and I was unaware. After questioning the price, the owner personally reached out to both clarify why the prices had changed, as well as honor the old price due to the confusion. In fact, he was unable to alter the transaction, so he just cancelled the payment all together. When I called to pay for the corrected price, he refused to take payment. This is what you call QUALITY LOCAL BUSINESS. He actually cared about the issue. My wife and I will return in the future, and anyone that asks where a trustworthy mechanic/auto service resides will be sent that way, as well.Service: Oil change

The good folks at Marathon Automotive have been providing me superb and timely service for over a dozen years now. I trust them; I know the job will be done efficiently and effectively, and I've never had a single issue with any work performed at Marathon. What I've appreciated all the more is the friendliness and kindness of the people who work there, particularly Erin, Dave and Marty who greet customers. Good coffee is always on hand; free wifi is available while you wait. And over the years, they've even welcomed Camry, my Australian Shepherd, who has been loved and adored by all and who knows where Erin keeps the dog treats. Yes, I'm paying a bill in the end, but how could the experience of a necessary car repair be made any better?

I have been a customer for about 10 years. Marathon Automotive has always shown the highest integrity and professionalism. It's nice to be able to trust your car repair shop, The staff is always friendly and willing to give sound advice on your repairs, even to the point of suggesting that some repairs might not need to be done immediately (or ever in the case of a really old car I had). I can't offer a higher recommendation than for Marathon Automotive.

We stopped in after having some issues with our car while visiting Traverse City. Luckily it was a simple fix and even though it was close to their closing time, they took care of the issue right away. They went above and beyond for us. All the guys are so great and very personable! Any vehicle issues, this is the place to be.

These guys are such a blessing! We are from out of town and ran into some trouble with our car at 5 pm on a Friday. Luckily, the guys at Marathon took a look at the vehicle right away and fixed it enough to get us back home. Their staff is incredibly friendly and willing to help. Could not have found a better place to take our car!

My girlfriend an I have had a work done a couple times on our vehicles here and each time it was a great experience. The pricing was fair for the work done, but what stood apart was the communication, professionalism, and kindness of the staff. Of course nobody wants to have a car repair expense, but we are very happy going here and will continue to do so.

Usually these guys are pretty good, though i felt i needed to point out some disappointing service. A simple oil change prior to my leaving on Spring break, apparently the oil plug didn't get tightened properly and subsequently about a quart of oil had leaked all over my garage. Had to drive and drop the car another 20 minutes each way to the shop. They fixed it quickly and at no charge the next day, but a simple "sorry for our error, your inconvenience and time and effort in cleaning up a large quantity of oil in your garage" would have went a long way.

LOVE these guys! After my first trip there a few years ago, they remembered where I had moved from, my name, and my husband's name. They do not have to make a conscious effort to know you--it comes natural. They always take care of our vehicles in an honest way and have never done work without discussing it with us first. I highly recommend using them!
