Haven't been to an auto repair shop as honest and reasonably priced as Norm's. I usually do my own work on my cars but when it's something I won't do I'll take it to Norm's. I've been to another place nearby that was pushing replacement parts on my older ride that cost way more than the car was worth. Took it to Norm and he was honest about what I actually needed for a safe ride, saved me a bunch of money. Thanks Norm!

Since I've found norms. It's the only place I would like to keep giving my money to, pretaining to fixing my old rusty 2000 expedition! Doesn't over price and get it's road worthy in a timely manner while communicating the whole time. I feel I can trust him and it's a wonderful feeling. I appreciate you norm.

I want to give a BIG THANK YOU to Norm s Total Automotive Service of South Lyon. Thursday evening on the my way to do a few evening quotes I had catastrophic brake failure! I called Norm s explaining that this is our primary work vehicle that needs to be out on the road servicing our customers and supporting our teams with the necessary equipment for each painting project. Norm s is such a great guy, he and his staff had the work van back in service by the next day!THANK YOU NORM S! You are one of South Lyons BEST!Service: Brakes

We would like to thank this place from the bottom of our hearts. We had a flat tyre almost 8 miles away from this shop ( near to woods) and didn t where to go as it was 3rd of July and the next day was a holiday. We stopped at all nearby auto parts and luckily my wife told me that this place was open and we should give a try. We came at 7:45pm and the closing time was 8pm. But they made sure our tyre was fixed. Norm s literally saved our holiday trip. Thank you Norm s Automotive service.

When my transmission failed on my service van, Norms was Johnny on the spot! They installed a brand new GM transmission and had me back out on the road in one week to the day! In today s world that is near impossible. Norms understood that I made my living with this van and got me out of there as fast as possible. Three weeks later, the water pump went out. Norms had me back on the road the very next day. While I would never expect that as a normal customer, the fact that he could do it for a commercial customer was astounding. The work was flawless. Norm recently saved our daughter's Saturn from a the fate of the scrapyard. These guys work more hours than the bigger guys and have treated us fairly every time we've gone there. As an experienced car guy who lacks the time and space currently to fix his own beaters I trust these guys to do honest, quality work. Doubt they need my endorsement but here it is!

I was the ride back from dropping off a car but my friend says this place is always busy, sets a very reasonable price and stand by their work. This isn't a regulated dealership so the work time may be a bit longer than you would like but the results are probably worth the investment. My friend is very tight with his money and spends it wisely.

My Honda Odyssey was making some odd noises and so I did some googling and thought that it was the axel and I called norm on the phone and he consulted me and told me what to do on the phone. Sure enough it solved my problem. As soon as a new problem presented that I knew I couldn t fix myself I brought my van to Norms. There were a ton of cars in the lot and I was just a walk-in. After only one day I called to get a time estimate and he told me that he would get to it that day. Sure enough he did! He solved the problem and for a great price.Services: Brakes, Brake service & repair

This is the second time I've taken my car to Norm's and I have had a great experience each time. They have been friendly, professional and have always given us fair prices for what we needed done, and gotten the work done quickly. Norm is the man. His mechanics are diligent and thorough. We don't even live in South Lyon but my family brings our vehicles there every time we need work done. I could not be more satisfied with their transparency and overall quality of work. Highly recommended

Honest and well priced. The whole group that works there are old school and know there stuff. They also work on new stuff too. Eat cheaper than a dealer and cheaper than the other companies in town. Norm was so helpful.

Great shop, they have somehow been able to sneak my smaller jobs in same day and deliver quality every time. I do all my own work on vehicles but don't have some of the more expensive equipment like tore machines or alignment rack so I take it to them. Any one who asks for a reliable shop with more than reasonable prices, I now send to them.

My experience was okay... Price was $375 for a pulley a belt and a oil change. I felt it was a little pricey but I got my car back a few hours later. What really got me is when I paid the bill I gave the man $400 dollars even and he haned me my keys paperwork and change.. realized later he gave me $5 back in change . Only good thing I can say is it got fixed same day...

This place fixes your issue but breaks something else so you have to come back in 1-2 months consistently. He did this to my family for years never trust this guy!!

Norm s crew helped me out of a jam yet again (see previous reviews) We were going to leave on our annual family summer vacation and i discovered that my brakes were bad on my truck. We were leaving Saturday morning and I called on Thursday. They got me in Friday morning and the work was completed without a hitch saving us from having to rent a car. Please SHOP LOCAL and SHOP SMALL. You will get a better experience. THANKS NORM AND CREW!!Service: Brake service & repair

Great mechanics, honest prices and dependable auto repair service. We have lived in South Lyon for 20 years and have been bringing cars to Norm for repairs the entire time. At least 8 different cars (GM, Ford, Imports) for various big and small repairs. Norm's serviced all of them on time and within the price estimate. Thanks Norm!

Thank you Norm s for such a quick turn around on my girlfriend s 2017 Silverado today. You picked it up last night and was able to diagnose the issue and replace her starter in less than 24 hours. It definitely pays to keep the money local.

I drive more than 50 miles to have Norm work on my car. I tried a local guy recently who told me that I needed a new head gasket. I took it to Norm and it just needs a new radiator and a water pump. Instead of a $1500 repair it cost me $750. Norm is honest and does great work. He never tries to take advantage of anyone and his hours are great.

WARNING!!!!!! NORM IS A SCAM. I m always cautious with mechanics. I walked in and told norm I needed a tune up on my vehicle. He told me he would give it a tune up. What norm didn t know is I am a mechanic and own a company but simply don t have time to work on my own vehicles. So in search of a mechanic I always give my car a tune up and then take it in to see if the mechanic is honest. SURE ENOUGH, NORM CALLS ME BACK WITH A PLETHORA OF LIES. To say one simple example. Norm yea I m standing here looking at your spark plugs and they definitely need to be replaced. New spark plugs were installed a week prior. And on and on he want with lies. I m a certified mechanic. SCAM ARTIST

Just had a tune up done on my 2007 Pontiac G5. It is running better now than when I bought it 7 yrs ago. Great service. Fair prices. They tell what needs to be done and what can wait. They are one of the good guys. I will be back

Excellent, service repair facility. Been a South Lyon resident for many years. The second time having a emergency car repair that Mr. Norm saved me from more unnecessary heartache. Saturday went to 3-4 different repair facilities just trying to get two lug nuts loosened, they were not stripped or damaged I just didn't have the proper tools. Some said no: BMW, they said go back to where they rotated your wheels (Discount Tires, closed), they didn't want to be liable. I was headed out of town and my headlight died, unfortunately I have to take the wheel off to get to the light. Explained it to Mr. Norm, in and out in 4-5 minutes. Thanks again, Norm's Total Automotive Service.

Norms is great had the job done quick for me his price was fair ! And didn t price gauge me like the dealership wanted to do! He fixed what needed to be fixed now. And was very honest! I will be coming back here for any future repairs!!

Norm and his "crew" are the most honest, hardworking, and all around best mechanics I have ever dealt with in my life. He is always straightforward with me about my car, and he always fixes everything that needs it, no cutting corners or fudging numbers. He has done more work than I could list on my car, and all my family's cars. Transmissions, seals, tubes, pumps, tires, pistons, you name it and Norm can DEFINITELY fix it. He has always been very fair about pricing, and he is always there to make it right if something goes wrong. Norm is the man, I recommend him to absolutely everybody I can.

My family has been using Norm's for years and has always had exceptional service! Norm will always tell you what you should be spending money on and what would be a waste of money to put into your vehicle. He will NEVER rip you off.

My car broke down while driving across the state, and I found myself stumbling into Norm's late one Saturday with urgent car trouble. I tried a few other places, but Norm's was the one that was open. I thought I wouldn't be able to complete my trip to Grand Rapids, but Norm and his crew worked quickly to help this out-of-towner get his catalytic converter replaced at a great price within 3 hours. He was very accommodating, and I can't thank him enough. If you're ever in South Lyon and need some car work, this is the only place to go.

Recently sent my car into them. It needed a LOT of work, and parts that were not readily available. They worked fast, were not overpriced and didn't speak down to me. (Something that a lot of part stores/mechanics like to do to women, unfortunately.) Very happy with how my car is running, and I'll be returning to them the next time I can't do a repair myself.

Norm is top notch. He fixes the problem without fishing around for more business under the hood. He takes time with each client to explain and diagnose. I've used Norms multiple times and will do so again.
