Cook Automotive Repairs front office staff was friendly and knowledgeable and kept me informed of the progress of my repair. The quality of my repair was excellent, was performed within a reasonable amount of time and at a fair and reasonable price. The shop appeared well kept and peaceful at the times of my visit.

They did a great job on my alignment but somehow turned that job into 4 hours of labor totaling $375. Very careful with my car per my request and they did get the wheels perfectly flush as I requested. Absolutely insane price for an alignment though regardless of the specs requested. I asked for minimal camber (-2.5 and -1) and a toe correction (0 & 1/16). They barely had to touch the front suspension from its original specs and they claimed 2 alignments would have to be done to get it right. A service manager called me and told me the original quote of $135 would more than likely be $300 after seeing how much alignment would have to be done and that they wouldn t charge me any more over that. I get to the shop and I m totaled up for $420. After arguing with them about how ridiculous it is to charge that much for an alignment they brought it down to $375 for classic car labor rate which was better, but still absolutely ridiculous. It should not take 4 hours for an alignment unless you re really getting meticulous about a track car setup.

I received what I deemed to be a very good quote for brakes and rotors on my CRV. I was skeptical, but went to Cook for the repair. I was expecting a bait and switch and for them to tell me I need calipers, as well for a much higher price. To my surprise, they completed the job as quoted with no issues. Great service and very professional. My two other quotes were over $100 higher.

Cooks has been so great at getting my vehicles together. Changed my brakes for a very reasonable price. They also diagnosed my transmission (needs replaced) but gave me my options and advice on the matter. Most recently they are fixing my coolant line which just broke apart while I was driving. I'm very grateful to have such a reliable mechanic in the area that I can trust. I never feel like they try to oversell me and appreciate the explanations they provide to a non car person like myself.Services: Transmission, General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Vehicle Inspection, Brakes

Had to pay $180 for them to tell me they would not work on my car. Do not go here. I can't even say they don't do good work. They did no work.

A few months back, I brought my 97 Expedition in for a new heater core. Right off the bat, they argued that it was unlikely and that gave me a bad taste in my mouth. It should ve been my red flag, but when I initially called around, Cooks had the lowest estimated price with the fastest turn around. After they looked it over, they found it WAS the heater core. Shocker.When I got the truck back, things were just off. My shifter felt goofy, like they d messed with the linkage. My radio was just crooked enough I couldn t get a CD in or out, so I had to pull it out and reposition it. My dashboard had chips in the coating so bare black plastic was showing. Some of the dash panels hadn t been put back in place right so I had to take the time to slot clips back together.I was going to just let it all go, and chock it up as a lesson learned. At least my heat was working again.Until my subwoofer died. I went to an audio technician and after replacing a few other parts, we found the culprit for WHY all the other parts failed. Someone unclipped my amplifier wire and never put it back. The original clip is there, not broken or damaged, the wire popped right back in and held securely. However, I need to replace the whole wire now since it had been lying overtop a pipe and now there s a hole melted nearly completely through it. Plus the new amp I needed because the faulty wire fried it and the countless fuses blown trying to trace the problem.No, I cannot PROVE it was Cooks. But this most recent incident, mixed with the state of my truck upon return, I can t see myself coming back. Their prices might be decent, and turn around time acceptable, but I d rather pay someone else a bit more and have faith they ll do the job right.

This was my first experience using cooks and was amazing. They got to my car quickly, the diagnosis of my vehicle was the most detailed I ve ever had and they call you with prices and diagnosed problems before just going and fixing the car. Jennifer was also amazing and was able to answer any and all the questions I had. I HIGHLY recommend!Service: Auto brake repair

It seems the diagnostic testing they do before any work is $162.00. I dropped off a friend's vehicle. I just moved in the area, but that seems a little high to me. ??

The like to tell you everything that is "wrong" with your vehicle but really do not know. They charge you for repairs you do not need. I was quoted around 1400 to replace 2 actuators in the heating system. So after they did that I'm told they still need another part for an extra $600!. Also told me I needed $1600 to replace the rack in pinion Steering which was a lie. Just the lines needed it it. those cost only $100. I've heard this from other mechanics about this place but tried them anyway. That was not smart on my part.

Requested a quote for labor with me supplying the brand new in package OEM parts. They said they don t do that. Gave me a quote including parts but didn t state what brand they would be or what was included. I said I didn t expect any warranty just a fair price for fair labor. Still no. Bummer to shade a local business but this is a dumb practice to apply broadly in a small town and wounded economy where every dollar counts.

My first time here and I was totally impressed. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The work is very high quality and it was completed earlier than they thought. I will definitely use them again if needed.

Cook was absolutely wonderful to work with. I called around for quotes on getting my front brakes replaced, as well as an oil change. They had fair prices and were very kind and professional on the phone. The person I spoke with was knowledgeable and informative about the repairs and prices. They were able to get my truck in that evening, had the diagnostic ran by early morning and I had my truck with all the repairs within 24 hours. Even though I brought my truck in for brakes, they did a full check on fluids and function. They presented their findings and offered their services, but were never pushy or rude. I've been going here for a few years and with all the shops in South Lyon these guys are clearly the most organized, fair, and knowledgeable in town.The service team is always able to give you an accurate time to bring your vehicle in to be serviced and 90% of the time it's done when they say it was going to be or earlier. Price is also in my opinion the best around.

Dropped off my car for diagnosis and repair of" stabilitrac" and ABS dashboard warning lights and an oil change. The problem was found to be ball joints and wheel bearing. I was called and quoted a reasonable price. No waiting in lobby and quickly had my car parked by the door for my use. Always a professional courteous experience in the many times I've used their services. I am grateful to have them in our South Lyon / Lyon Twp. area. More reasonably priced than the dealership.

Great customer service....took car in and was told that they were about a week backed up but Max told me he'd get in sooner if he could...they did a diagnostic test on my car...but went above what I took it in for and bled the brakes and tightened the lines and brakes work better than when I took it to them....so far I haven't had any issues with the brakes.Good place to go..highly recommend

They had a longer wait time than some competitors, but it was worth the wait. The employees were very upfront with their estimates. They inspected my brakes and gave me a "rating" so I could judge how bad they were. They could have easily told me that I needed everything replaced and overcharged me for service, but they were very straightforward and told me honestly what I needed to replace and what I didn't. They didn't charge an inspection fee for a problem I encountered intermittently but didn't manifest itself during their test drives since they couldn't diagnose it. They called and communicated well about the progress on my car's repairs. I really appreciated their service. Thank you, Cooks!

I have a 17 yr old Volvo S 80 in fair to reasonable condition. I tell you this because in the past 5 years Cook Automotive has never recommended a repair/replacement that wasn t absolutely necessary. Often, they suggest reasonable solutions and viable options. We are glad they were recommended to us.

Not real happy that they said they could get my boyfriend car in same day to fix tire waited until end of day , but couldnt do it, we could have went elsewhere if we would have known that:(

I went in for a rear brake check. They ran diagnostics that afternoon and I brought my car back the next morning (they had to order the parts). Everything was completed in just over an hour and the price was $100 less than what I was quoted to have the same repair at a dealership. The staff was great...friendly and professional. The facility was very clean. I was working on my laptop while waiting and one staff member who saw me sitting there brought out a folding desk for me to use saying I'd probably be more comfortable...talk about great customer service. Looks like I found my new service spot!!! One very happy customer

I love this place, they are phenomenal they go above and beyond to repair your vehicle and give you tour best optionsRather then just do the work and bill you.This facility is very clean and the employees are beyond respectful. I had my radiator coolant leaking and the team at cook auto scheduled a time for my car to get inspected while I was at work and ended up calling me to give me a quote, and was able to finish the job the same day (all while I was at work)! I know it's not always a possibility due to time schedules with other repairs, but I'm so grateful for them fixing my car so quickly. Professional service and honest pricing-My dad had stopped in and paid the total amount up front and when I went to go pick up my car, they said they actually overcharged me as the original quote included a product/service that they later determined they didn't need. These guys are honest people! Love it. Thank you Cook Auto!

I worked with Chad over at Cook Automotive Repair. He was pleasant to work with start to finish while getting a leveling kit installed on my SUV. Reasonable labor rates and great quality service. My vehicle was dropped off, worked on, and ready for pick up in exactly the amount of time they estimated they would have it for. It was totally worth driving the few extra miles out of the town where I live to have my vehicle worked on. Thanks for everything, I will happily be a return customer for any of my future automotive needs!

My experience with this place was amazing! They truly care about the customer. We pulled in afterhours with a flat tire down to the rim. They didn't hesitate to help and change our tire. I don't know what we would have done without them, we would have been stranded on the side of the road with a horse trailer for who knows how long. They had us in and out quickly and were so kind! I am so grateful for them and cannot say thank you enough!!!

Have used them for years, and always feel that they take care of me like family. I never feel taken advantage of for being female & not knowing about cars. They've had many opportunities to charge $$$$ for help with my cars, but often the charge is 0, or something very small!

Called crying on Friday around noon, car just stopped while driving. Got it towed and they called me by 3 with diagnosis and price. Back working much better than before Monday at 1pm. Alternator seized just under 400$ with oil change. I just have to thank them for the compassion they had with me while I was hysterical. The font desk guys were amazingly kind and understanding. I ve had my car fixed at many places but never received customer service this great. I actually felt better knowing they were on top of things and actually felt like they cared. Thank you front the bottom of my heart!

After they took such great care of my parents vehicles I decided to take my car there and I now won't go anywhere else for repairs. I have a decent amount of knowledge when it comes to my vehicle and I greatly appreciate how Austin talks me through what is wrong with the vehicles and gave me reasonable options for repairs. They have worked on several things on my vehicle and not once have I had to take it back due to reoccurring issues....unlike other places. I would recommend them to anyone!
