I visited during the summer and was very pleased with my stay. Bathrooms are modern and clean. Lots of things to do on site. The camp store was well priced and the staff are super friendly. I stayed two nights in a tent.Rooms: Tent stalls were clean and close to bathrooms and water hoses.Nearby activities: Beach is a 10 minute drive away.Safety: Very safe.Walkability: Lots of activities to do on site.Food & drinks: Food and drinks are available at the camp store.

They waited for me until after 9 PM to be sure I got checked in. OK! Excellent service. These owners are so considerate and accountable, they deserve to be praised. This is the most peaceful campground I ve ever stayed at, clean, and well organized. The camp store is stocked with favorites and gifts galore from local artisans. The coffee offered to patrons in the morning is only the best brand.I love this place!!!

Great RV and general camping place (listed as hotel). Hope they add more RV spots in the future as they just have this circle of full hook up pull thrus. It is right on the KalHaven Trail but it is currently being paved. Their Halloween event was fun, lots of trunk or treaters. If it's been rainy, their will be a lot of mud holes in the road. My suggestion to the owners would be to try and smooth them out or invest in gravel.I've stayed here twice and will likely come back again.

Highly recommend renting space at Kal-Haven Outpost for a wedding! We reserved half of the campsite for our August wedding. The reservation included 10 cabins (sleeps about 44 people) and the group tent site area, which is a secluded space in the woods behind the cabins. We rented all that space for the entire weekend. The price we paid matched what I was getting quoted from standard wedding reception vendors in the area, with the added benefit of having guests sleep over plus having the space for an entire weekend.Robert and Heather were great to work with all throughout the process. They responded timely to calls and emails and scheduled multiple tours for my parents and wedding party to see the space ahead of time. We rented a tent to put in the area by the cabins and were able to fit a guest count of 80 under the tent, with plenty of space left over for catering dinner and dessert. We were also able to use I believe 14 of the campsite's picnic tables for the event, so we didn't have to pay to rent tables from another vendor. The campsite also arranged the picnic tables under the tent to our specifications, and it was set up perfectly. Robert and Heather took a personal interest in our wedding by gifting us a bottle of wine the night before our wedding, and sending us a little gift package afterwards. My guests were blown away by the wedding, and some guests loved this place so much they immediately booked their own visit. The campsite is beautiful and allowed for great wedding photos. The cabins are also very cozy. Robert made multiple rounds throughout the weekend to take out trash and keep the area clean. Last but not least, hosting our wedding here allowed us to include our dogs. The campsite has an amazing dog park stocked with toys.

Very clean. They need more garbage cans, couple areas that could be approved. Nice layout and open field. Dog park looked nice. Delivered our wood and put wood right on our account, very convenient.Showers were never congested for the size of the outpost, but they rarely had hot water during the busy times. Showers also pooled with water on the tile, it wasn t great. Only two toilet stalls for men.Good variety of sites. Any type of camping is there. Regarding the primitive sites, it s hard to get a feel for what each site looks like. We got. A partial shade site that was pretty nice but walked around some would have been worse or better.Coyote howls and night were cool. Sky was kinda easy to see stars with. Beautiful sunsets possible, 1 of our 2 nights was great. Pretty level camping sites.

Really nice and clean spot to spend some quality time with family. First-time there and will probably visit again. Bathhouse very clean and always stocked. One bigger family shower had heater which was a plus when needing to wash small kids on colder days. Cabins were clean and maintained, everything worked. All you need is some briquettes for the grill and wood for fire pit. One thing I would suggest is asking for the code to the door if you have smaller kids when you check in, super easy to lock the door with just one button, and if keys are inside...ooops

I had a great experience here this weekend. They were very hospitable, even left a bottle of bug spray on the porch for me after close. I came in on the Kalhaven Trail, and they have their own entrance right off the trail. The tent sites were really nice because they re kind of tucked back in the woods so you get shade, it look like all of the RV sites were out in the open field. Bathhouse was clean. I would definitely recommend staying here in general, but especially if you re doing the Kalhaven Trail. Thank you so much!

A fantastic place to stay, plenty of options based on what you're looking for - my sisters and I enjoyed the primitive tent camp sites but the glamping tents and RV sites looked very nice! The facilities were well maintained, the camp store well stocked, and everyone we interacted with was so friendly! They really go out of their way to take care of their campers, reaching out via phone call, when one of our tents stakes blew out due to the wind. I'll definitely want to go back!

The perfect spot indeed for cyclists - Right on the Kal-Haven trail, barely 5 miles from South Haven.Lots of spacious, well-shaded camping areas, for hammockers to RVers, even some cabins and full-size rentals.Incredible service, every visit - the owners and staff are truly remarkable. Amazing levels of service and personalized help.

My husband and I (and our dog, Sadie) stayed at Couples Cabin 4 for 3 nights to celebrate a milestone anniversary at his company. I arranged to have local flowers, chocolate and wine as a surprise. They were perfect! Heather and Rob are fantastic hosts. The bathhouse is clean, the grounds are beautiful and our whole stay was very special. We were even able to get some extra cold cuts from the well-stocked store. Sadie loved the Kal-Haven Trail and the big dog park. We're going to try to make Kal-Haven Outpost at least an annual stay.Nearby activities: Close proximity to South Haven and Saugatuck --a great home base.

We just returned from this camping trip in Kal-Haven Outpost and we found it alot of fun. Had been tenters from years before with children, we decided to "Glamp-it". Great decision! Just about everything is thought-out with these glamping sights. Cooler, grill, utensils, towels, power pack to charge phone and power for lights in tent all included even a king size bed is within the tent and a free bottle of wine! Not to mention how friendly the owners are. Location is good. Don't forget your bikes since the Kal-Haven trail is right along side and an easy ride to downtown South Haven. This place was soooo enjoyable and very well kept!!

Stayed 4 nights over the holiday, what a great place! Super duper clean, hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Slept like babies each night, great bath house, playground for the kids, bikes to rent and goats and chickens to pet. Close to everything we needed and will be back! Keep up the awesome job you guys!

Rob and Heather are a very friendly young couple bringing an all inclusive experience to camping. From rv to primitive tenting, young and old, children and pet friendly. Sharing movie nights on a big screen and other events throughout the year. Michigan local products are available as well as fresh eggs and free coffee every morning! Goats and chickens, a fenced in dog park with ample room for the biggest of dogs to run. Hiking on site leading to downtown South Haven, close to shops and the shore line. This will definitely be a pinned and revisited spot!!!

It was one of the more peaceful places I have ever been. We stayed in the couples cabin and just felt so at peace. Morning coffee was locally sourced and delicious. The caretakers were some of the nicest people I have ever met while traveling fully intended on returning.Nearby activities: South Haven is a short drive away with plenty of shops and lighthouses. Just beautiful in the spring and summer.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend at the Outpost last weekend. We stayed in an RV with full hook up right next to our adult kids and their children. Perfect place for young families and old. Cabins and yurts looked quite cozy for those without tens or trailers. Plenty of tent sites, too. Very nice playground, though swings would be a nice improvement; ample safe dirt roads that were great for the grandkids to ride their bikes, always within our sight, no matter where they were. Great job laying out the sites to allow for this! Camp store was good. Nice owners, too. And, of course, the bike trails from the campground conveniently adjoin to the Kal-Haven Trail. We also appreciated the beautiful native grass fields. Lovely! Will go back!

Outstanding. My experience here exceeded expectations. We chose to go Glamping in one of the provided yurts. I cannot tell you how beyond expectation I found in this experience. My girlfriend and I enjoyed this lovely campground and truly left all of our concerns behind the moment we pulled up to the outpost office. The kal-haven outpost is a private piece of paradise.

Stayed for over a week in a primitive spot, but nothing primitive about it! Bathrooms were very clean and nice. Loved the separate shower rooms, also clean and private. Grounds were beautifully kept, no trash. Spots were cleaned after each use. Kal Haven bike trail is along the side of property. Great trails through the woods too.Playground: Cute playground for the kids.

Lovely & affordable cabin near south haven beach. We weren't aware of the fact the rooms don't have a bathroom and running water. The communal bathrooms/showers were clean enough. The staff at Kal Haven Outpost were friendly and very accommodating. I would recommend this place to a friend.

Kal-Haven is one of my favorite camping spots. We go there at least once a year if not twice or even thrice sometimes. Great customer service from the owners. Always happy to help. And RESTROOMS are cleanest in any of the camping spots I have been. Hands Down!! And yeah, they do have showers (both hot and cold) Also VERY CLEAN. Their store is handy to get missed items and firewood. They have always been generous to drop off the firewood we purchased in our camp site. Thank you for everything you guys do. Highly recommend the place if you're in the area.

We have been going up to the cabins at Kal Haven for a few years. On this last trip my daughter left her stuffed cat in the cabin, I called and they said they would check and I never heard back. Then one day this package showed up in the mail with the cat, a book and a note. My daughter was so happy! The staff is wonderful, place is clean, it is close enough to town and ice cream places but far enough away that it feels like you are in the middle of nowhere.I also enjoy the fact that we can rent bikes there and it has a nice convince store with free coffee. It is nice that we don t have to try and pack everything in the car for a weekend trip.

We enjoyed it. Spacious pull thru sites with full hook ups made it pretty easy. The yurt sites looked cool and the primitive sites were huge, wooded and very private. Cabins looked nice too, and bathrooms were new and clean. Camp store was well stocked. Sewer connections were a little high off the ground but not too big a problem and would be an easy fix. South Haven was an easy drive.
