We had a wonderful stay at this fun retro-themed motel. The rooms are small but comfortable, nicely appointed, super clean, and noise free. The property is well maintained. The owner Rob is on site and really fun to chat with. We especially enjoyed sitting outside by the pool with piped in music and also lounging outside our room in the comfy adirondack chairs. We noticed lots of nice touches such as built in window blinds. This is great motel for those in the mood for a charming easy going vacation spot. Thank you Rob!

My mom, brother and I stayed at the Retro Resort in Saugatuck. The motel location is perfect- 5 to 10 minutes from all sorts of activities. It was our first time visiting Saugatuck/Douglas area. Retro Rob was awesome- very personable, friendly, helpful & funny! He was very helpful with suggesting different activities to do before & at our arrival. The rooms were very cute & cozy-just what you need for relaxation! Pool was clean and the music at the pool was relaxing. We will definitely be back- thanks Rob!!Nearby activities: Must do a Saugatuck Dune Ride, explore downtown Saugatuck, see a comedy show at Coral Gables, and hit Oval & Douglas beach!Food & drinks: Pennyroyal Cafe, Coral Gables, Mitten Co Brewing, Saugatuck Brewing

We stumbled upon this place and could not have been more pleased!! The room was very clean and had everything we needed. Loved the ceiling fan. Yes, it was small but the bathroom was pleasantly large. The grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed the fire pit. We started a fire and other guests joined us! It was a great way to end our day.We cannot wait to return!! It was like a real life, (nice) Rosebud motel. 10/10Rooms: Very clean. Small but have everything you d need.

What a great time we had staying at this gem. Not only have they taken great care to preserve the old motel feeling but also some great modern additions. Check in was simple, parking was ample. Look for the email sent from the owners to get some great inside information in regards to dining and transportation. Be a good neighbor and help feed the fire pit. Coffee and tea available in the morning. Cannot wait to come back and lounge by the pool and revisit those John Waters dreams

This is a great little hotel. Small rooms, with a really cool vibe. Rob was super nice and text me to let me know I could check in when it was convenient for me. I was running late to a wedding.... so that took some of the rushed feeling away for the moment. Will definitely visit again. Thanks again to Rob!!!!

What a fantastic motel in a great great little town! This was our first time staying at the Saugatuck Motel and we just loved it. The grounds are beautiful. The room was updated and comfortable and clean. The pool area is beautiful with the perfect relaxing music playing. We used the fire pit every night and met some fun people and shared some great stories. Retro Rob is the best! He keeps a beautiful motel and makes you feel like a welcome guest. Make sure you check out the lobby and pick up some of Rob's awesome Saugatuck Motel souvenirs. We can't wait to go back!

Hands down, my favorite place to stay! Been visiting for 12 years and always have the best experience. The Retro Resort is conveniently located to all that the beautiful Saugatuck/Douglas area has to offer while offering a peaceful, nostalgic and private surrounding. Rooms are very clean and every creature comfort has been thought of. The owners are on-site, friendly, and helpful...and have become true friends over the years. I have brought numerous friends and family over the years and everyone has agreed that the Retro Resort is a truly magical place! I look forward to visiting for years to come.Rooms: Rooms are clean and have every creature comfortNearby activities: Dune and boat rides are fun!Food & drinks: Great nearby restaurants and activities

The Saugatuck town is filled with very friendly and courteous people. Great Place... The Motel owner Rob is very friendly and extremely courteous as well. He suggested many places for food. Great Guy!As far as the Motel itself, just not for us. The rooms and bathroom are just too small. They have no daily service; you have to acquire fresh towels daily from Rob. Even if you run out of TP, you have to go ask Rob for a new roll. If you want coffee, you also have to wait for Rob who shows up at 9:00. No place to sit in the room except on the bed. However, if you look under bed, there is a chair for you... We accidentally found one. No one told us about it. We felt very cramped, and our bed made squeaking noises when you moved on it. So as far as the Motel goes, like I said just not for us....Rooms: Just too small...

There are some great reviews and some not so great reviews. We were concerned but trusted the flip of a coin.Perfectly located near the venue my best friend is getting married at sits this cute little motel. The rooms are organized exactly how you would expect given the namesake. As a guy that loves Route 66 in Oklahoma this little resort would fit right in.The price is just as amazing as the service. Retro Rob greats you with a smile and all the information you can possibly handle for the local area. He is a one man band and slows down for no one...unless they need him for something. So glad we decided to go with this for our spit to chill between the crazy! For those of you talking noise...yall crazy.

Rob was great with staying well connected with arrival and departures. I loved that he knew all guest by first names. He was super helpful planning activities and gave some "insider tips" of what to try when something was "booked up" in order to get a spot for that activity. The only slightly downside there was the internet was frequently out and made it difficult to search other things... on the flip side- it's vacation and we shouldn't have our phones :)

Had such a nice stay! We decided on a quick weekend away and booked same day here. We arrived a little late but Rob was great with communication so check-in was seamless. Room was cute and the entire motel was super charming!! The hard work the owners put into the place does not go unnoticed. Can t wait to go back :)

We have stayed here everyyear scince they opened. Rob who is the on-site owner/manager is a great guy and always has what the new resturants are and what is good in the area. The rooms are good and I enjoy having a early cofee sitting outside the room on the adirondack chairs. The pool is great and he has great music playing all day. If your into having a bonfire his is always in use.The gardens are great and the overall ambiance is very relaxing.

Awesome place, quiet neighborhood with large mature trees, updated 1950's rooms were a little small but perfectly appointed and very clean. Chairs out in front of the room were perfect for morning coffee or reading. Clean pool with 40's era music playing until about 9 at night and a fire ring. Rob was very friendly and full of information about the area. Parking area was more than adequate for us to unload the 29 Ford Speedster from the trailer and stash the truck and trailer out of the way so we could run around Saugatuck, Douglas and Holland in the 29. Looking forward to staying there again -- Mark

I hate writing a review for this place because I want to keep this place all to myself! There aren't too many quality places to stay with decent prices in the area, but this is one of them! The owner was super helpful and let us check in late since we had a long drive. He gave us so many great recommendations for places to see and eat and every single one of them were fantastic. The rooms were very clean and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable, tv worked, had a fridge and microwave, and the bathroom was fully stocked and clean. The only issue we had was that our neighbors came home very late, very drunk, and were very loud so we could hear them for a while. That wasn't the hotel's fault though. Thankfully they went to bed after 30 minutes. We will definitely stay here if we visit again and although we'd like to gate keep this place, we recommend it to anyone and everyone. It's super close to downtown Saugatuck as well and is very safe.

My husband and l had a wonderful stay. The resort is a lovely little gem just close enough/far enough from downtown Saugatuck. The room was small, but clean and comfortable. The outdoor common areas were very inviting and the resort just had an overall relaxing atmosphere. The owner, Rob, greeted us on arrival and gave us so many wonderful recommendations for our weekend in the area. We thoroughly loved our time there and hope to visit again in the Spring.

Once again an Awsome visit a The Saugatuck Resort! Rob and Steve have put together the perfect Michigan experience right outside Saugatuck. The beds are comfortable, the room amenities meet your needs, the linens smell fresh. The pool area with it s 1940/50 s French and English music is relaxing and refreshing. They have a large fire pit with its 10 chairs is charming. They have basketball, shuffle board, lawn darts and Adirondack chairs outside each room. I appreciated the pre stay email and thought it was a nice touch. Look forward to our next visit.Rick, Stacy and kids.

This motel is a totally charming update of a classic motel. We felt instantly relaxed. Flowers everywhere. A hammock and shaded seating areas for those who just want to read. The pool is super clean with yet more flowers. We enjoyed being a bit outside of the Saugatuck traffic, but could get to beaches, town, some great eateries in minutes. Management is welcoming and helpful. Can t wait to come back again!

We always have an amazing time staying at this retro motel. We ve been going here as a family for years. Rob has done an amazing job with the property. Every time we see him he is always hard at work. The rooms are always spotless. We have never had any issues with the rooms or any part of the property. The pool is clean and refreshing. Rob has done a great job cultivating a relaxing atmosphere. The motel is also in a great location right off the highway and close to the bars and restaurants in Douglas and Saugatuck. Can t recommend this place enough!

This was our groups first time in Saugatuck. Rob, the owner, was an amazing host. He was available for questions and had a ton of excellent suggestions for dinner options. The property is well maintained and beautifully landscaped. Our rooms were clean and nicely decorated. This motel is a throw back to the 50's and the road trip area. Nestled off the road among mature trees, the motel has tons of outdoor sitting areas. The firepit and hammock were among my favorites. The pool is clean and has an adequate amount of loungers for the size of the hotel. Every morning Rob makes coffee and guests sit outside their rooms to enjoy the peace and tranquility of nature. It had a homey feel and all the guest I met felt like family. I highly recommend this property. The price and proximity to local attractions makes this an excellent choice. We will be back.

Really enjoyed my stay. My spouse and I wanted somewhere comfy, quiet, and with a pool for a short getaway. This was perfect for what we wanted. I would stay there again!Rooms: Our king room was small, but fine for a short stay for two people. Bring body wash if you don t want to use a bar of soap There s a microwave and a small fridge and the decor is fun. Ice is a short walk across the parking lot and every room has a pair of Adirondack chairs outside their room.Nearby activities: A short drive to Saugatuck/Douglas where you can shop, eat, take a boat ride, go to the beach, and more.Noteworthy details: Retro Rob is a friendly, gracious host. The pool is a great place for a swim. There were pool noodles and comfy loungers. The overall atmosphere is quite friendly and neighborhood-like, so if you wanted to socialize you can, but if you just need a good night s sleep, it s easy to do that too.

Absolutely wonderful! The ambience of this place is amazing. Rob was so friendly and helpful, and we can't wait to come back! Our bed was incredibly comfortable and the room was so cozy we loved waking up there in the morning. Had a lovely time around the fire pit chatting with another couple and enjoyed use of the pool as well. Would highly recommend staying here as the retro small town vibes are uniquely perfect!

I have stayed here every year since the current owners bought and completely renovated the property 10 years ago. It s a gem. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the vintage pool is great, and Rob the owner is super friendly and always accommodating. Believe the long, consistent string of 5 star reviews here and on Trip Advisor. I ve seen one or two negative reviews that are outliers, and from all the over the top drama with which they re written, I can only imagine those people are nightmare customers who d make any innkeeper s life miserable.
