My dad used to take us here when we were headed up North so I had to take my daughter. We stopped in and the service was very good. We ordered Buffalo Ranch Chicken Fries as an appetizer. They were so good. My daughter ordered Cod Nuggets and Fries. She loved them. I ordered the 2 Piece Fried Chicken(Sunday Special) The chicken was so good. Great Food and Great Service. We will be back!!!

We had to wait almost 15 minutes for a table when there were several tables open. Our waited, a blonde, finally seated us and let us know they were 2 people short, we then had to wait another 10 minutes for our drinks. Another 10 minutes before we ordered. It took over 30 minutes for our order to come out, when it did come out another waitress brought our food. Not one did our waitress check on us once our food was out. I took a bite of my burger and it was horrible. It tasted burnt, only had maybe 4 olive on it, and it tasted like it was dropped on the floor. Our waitress waited about 20-25 minutes to come give us our check and she asked was there something wrong with my food and I told her it was nasty and she said I figured that and gave us our check without my burger on it. Why was my burger taken off already? What did they do to my food? I'll never go there again. I DO NOT recommend trying them!

We stopped in for lunch. Old building but clean. Restroom was very clean. Food was great and was a very reasonable price. Sara the bartender was very pleasant and cheerful. If you re ever in Riverdale stop in and check it out.

Wanted to try some place different to eat and saw this place had a good rating. It is a quaint old tavern with 100 year old antique bar and wood interior. Lot's of unique animal trophies on wall creating a country bar atmosphere.Menu offers a variety of appetizers, burgers and sandwiches, as well as seafood (scallops, ocean perch, cod, frog legs, etc). We tried the fried cheese curds, fried mushrooms, burger plate (fries & applesauce), and frog legs. The food was great. Cheese curds, mushrooms, and Frog legs all had a good balance of light coating to flesh allowing flavors to come through. Burger was perfectly cooked and moist. The fries were good and properly cooked (crisp edges but soft inside) ... but a little thin cut for me.Service was good ... friendly and efficient even though only 1 server there at mid day on a Tuesday.Definitely going to return and be high on my local eatery list.

First time visiting after hearing many great things about this place. I decided to ride my bike the 9 miles from Alma on the Fred Meijer Heartland Trail to the Tavern as it is located just south of the trail. It was a Tuesday night so they had $3 nachos and $1 tacos and quesadillas. The staff and fellow patrons were very friendly and the Tavern is clean. I really enjoyed my dinner and will definitely return.

This tavern has been in business and in the same family since 1917! It has some beautiful woodwork in it. We had some bourbon bacon fries and a BLT, both of which we good. It is off the beaten path, but so worth the trip if only for the history.

Heard lots about this place , felt more average to me then, I gotta tell people to check this place out. I wouldn t say bad food , I wasn t a fan of the perch or slaw , cod was better imo (2 pc dinner 17.95 just cod 5 pcs 26.00 not all you can eat ) , deep fried mushrooms average. More of late night bar menu with paper plates. Waitress was nice, happy with her servIce , food times seemed fine for a Friday night, bartender seemed a little grumpy . Appears place is for sale. Nice old barI changed to 4 star , Glad you take pride , We will stop by again when in area , I didn t see a please wait to be seated Sign is all , thanks , told her we could go back n wait, hadn t been there in many years..

Ok this place has definitely gone down hill...so I went to order a burger then got told they can't do burgers since there was taco shells going down..ok so first off I want a burger for dinner and can't have one because you have taco shells going down..sounds like they need more ways to cook..no wonder the place is always for sale it's a sinking business...and this menu is pathetic

This is the definition of hole in the wall and a hidden gem. Everything on the menu is amazing. And you can t beat the fact that the draft beer is cheap. You ll leave this place 100% satisfied and 10 lbs heavier than you came.

Always great food and service. We get a "just" order of shrimp and add a side of fries to split. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. Almost everything is deep fried. Our friend tried the bay scallops. First time I have ever seen scallops deep fried, but they were delicious too. The cod dinner had 2 huge pieces with fries and coleslaw. The wing dings were very similar to the ones at Buffalo Wild Wings.Check out their weekly specials too!

The food was amazing little bit high but worth for the portions. It's was a busy night and staff was working very hard. Ordered appetizers but got entrees before them because someone took our appetizers to wrong table. They fixed the problem with getting our appetizers to us at no charge and that is very ethical for a business to do in this day and age I was very impressed. Will be going back very soon!!!

Messed up the order and didn t offer to fix that. Food was pretty rough. Some undercooked, cheese for pretzels was runny (like water), fish was over cooked, and the atmosphere was just not comfortable. Have gone before and didn t have the food issues, so three stars for inconsistency and food issues.

The food and service was excellent!! We had a large group of hungry people. We just got done kayaking on the Pine river. The BLTs were amazing! Packed full of crisp bacon. The onion rings were awesome, the batter was crisp and flavorful. Just to name a few items we had.
