We've been house hunting in the area and always travel with our dogs so finding a place to stay is a bit of a challenge. Well this time we hit the jackpot! Room was super cute and clean. Owner was fantastic and even suggested what is now our favorite place to eat in the area (Jack Eats) and to top it off the price was more than reasonable! We will definitely be back.

Room was cozy, it's the kind of hotel that uses normal sheets and blankets (the kind you'd buy for your home). The room was warm (stayed late Nov) and clean, quality fixtures and furniture. Soft towels and 2 ply tp (not the paper thin you normally see in hotels). They really put attention towards the small details that matter when you aren't in your own home. The staff, Michael, was super nice and accommodating; he really made me feel welcome. Check in was way easy, as was check out. Very charming spot and close to a whole lot of cool sights. Next time I'll stay longer to get those in, a small binder of tourist information is in the room along with a book about the local attractions.

My sister and I stayed here. On our way home from Troy Michigan. It was a very long drive and we were tired. The check-in was easy with a call. We were pleasantly pleased at how cute and homey this room was. And the special little touches were great. They had Keurig coffees, the bathroom had been newly remodeled, the beds were comfortable, the atmosphere was cozy, and the room was clean And if I come this way again, I will definitely look for this little cozy motel. The easy check-in and checkout were great. Michael even followed up with a personal text to me because I couldn t get my phone to connect when I checked out. Great price too. Worth the stay, trust me.Noteworthy details: See my comments. Great value great stay!

We stayed here for two different nights during a roadtrip this past summer. This place was the perfect location! & being pet friendly was a big plus!! The room was clean & comfy, & the A/C worked perfectly. There's a big open field & trails behind the building, which were perfect for taking our dog on quick walks or to play fetch for a bit before we headed out for the day. The staff were very friendly. If I'm ever out this direction again, I'd book this motel in a heartbeat!

Hillcrest Inn & Motel - Our 'Home' Away From HomeBeing on the road for many days finally had got me.... until we stayed at the Hillcrest Inn & Motel. The manager of the hotel was absolutely the BEST! He made checking in 'a breeze' and his can-do attitude certainly made our stay wonderful. Not only did we get personal service, but we go quiet time when we needed it.The hotel is quaint, homey, and especially quiet. I felt like I had gone 'home'. We stayed in a lovely room with 2 double beds and had a clean and up-to-date bathroom, large refrigerator, table with two chairs, and excellent internet reception. We also had my service dog 'The Unsinkable Molly Brown' a/k/a Molly with us. The owner greeted her with open arms ~ quite a lovely reception for our 'Princess'! Molly loves it here!As for my better-half and me, we LOVE it here too. This oasis is a great find - we will be back!

Okay, so we stayed on a Wednesday evening and then came back for a Saturday evening. We ended up getting the same room....which I liked there is a nice sized TV, a small table and two chairs, a refrigerator, a microwave, and a kuerig. Our first night there was someone's old pizza in the fridge and no shampoo. This is not a big deal to me, but it can be the little things. I did like the personal part of it. It is casual and nice and simple. Nothing fancy, but we felt safe, and it was clean. I would recommend calling the place directly as that was cheaper than the 15+ travel websites I looked up first. He was friendly and nice. This place does allow pets (I personally don't like this practice at all as I have allergy induced asthma... I can't breathe!) I just had to make sure I took my allergy medicine. There is a small cabinet that was accessible to all guests at all hours that would have anything extra we would need (towels, toilet paper, shampoo, blow driers, etc).

Wow is the best way to describe the place. It's a really nice, clean, friendly establishment. It's obvious the second you walk through the door, the room smells fresh and inviting. While reading the welcome instructions, I noticed the recommendations to try the hiking trails. We grabbed our 2 pups and went on a wonderful walk through the woods on a nice trail that even had a bench. Pride of ownership is evident everywhere you look throughout the property. We can't wait to return to the area I definitely know where we'll be staying.

Safe, quiet, and clean. I was extremely impressed with the care that was taken to ensure my room gave me a comfortable stay. From the normal amenities like the fridge, microwave, and coffee machine to the smaller details like the chairs outside the room and the tiny plants, it was clear that the owner wanted guests to feel safe and at home and that goal was achieved. Highly recommend.

Great value. Pleasantly surprised. Awesome little 10 unit old style roadside hotel. We had 2 adjoining rooms. One had 2 beds and the bathroom, the other a queen and kitchenette. Full size fridge, 4 burner gas stove, microwave, coffee pot, sink, dishes and silverware. Quiet. A little road noise. It's old but definitely worth it

My wife, our 2 dogs, and I spent 4 nights here on our recent trip up to Pictured Rocks. It's just an hour from Munising and while an hour may sound like a lot, it was a really easy drive. We made it multiple times during our trip. In order to accommodate our travel dates, we had to switch rooms for our last night (we moved to the room next door) so we got to experience 2 different rooms in this hidden gem. Hillcrest Inn & Motel doesn't boast all the amenities of a lot of places; there's no pool, no room service, no fitness center, but it was exactly perfect for us. Simple and relaxing. The rooms were clean, comfortable and both had beautifully renovated bathrooms. We walked the trails behind the motel and hung out in the large backyard. They are super dog friendly too! No extra charge for our fur babies! The owner's are on site and I've never had an easier check-in or check-out experience. If we ever come back up to the U.P., we'll definitely stay again.

Five stars for value and communication, location and more! Michael was a pleasure to communicate with. We arrived late, which was not a problem. Parking is easy. Conveniently located within an hour or so of Escanaba, Munising, Marquette and other day trips in the U.P. Michael was great at recommending a route for our fall color drive, too! We rented the kitchenette, with two adjoining rooms. A really great price. Kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils, pots and pans, and coffee was provided. Full size refrigerator was a plus. New carpeting and bedding - and very clean throughout. Small bathroom was clean and newly finished. Small patio sitting area outside the room was very cute. TVs in both bedrooms with cable. Dining area in kitchen for eating in, which we did take advantage of. Behind the motel is a large wooded area where we took our dog for morning walks. Very dog friendly. Michael was great at providing extra towels, paper towels and other items upon request. This is a great local motel and I highly recommend it! The owners obviously take great care in maintaining this little retro gem in the U.P.

I loved this place! We were roadtripping the UP with our two dogs and ended up last minute staying here one night after finding the mosquitos to be something out of nightmares at a local campground...the rooms were cute and the bathroom was huge! The shower was so nice and I loved that they had soft big towels instead of the cheap scratchy ones you frequently find at hotels. They had some free on demand selection for the TV which was definitely welcome. The coffee they provide is really good- and they provided actual ceramic mugs to drink out of! We loved the place so much that on our way back through we stayed here again! The second room we stayed in had a bookshelf filled with books which was so nice to see. When we checked out the second time they even called within the hour of leaving to let me know I had forgotten my kindle. If we go through the Upper Peninsula again we will definitely be staying here!

Stayed two days. Just taking a little getaway. Allowed our dogs (and they are not little dogs) which is why we went with them. No extra fee for the dogs! Super nice walking trails in the back. Located right on highway 2 so convenient location, but traffic noise. We were tired after exploring so no trouble sleeping! AC worked well. Very reasonable rates. Friendly staff. Needs some updates but all in all, a good deal!

We stayed here for a week while visiting my wife's grandma in Rapid River and a little vacation. Clean, cozy and very quiet rooms, other than hwy 2 traffic. We stayed in 7&8 which are connecting rooms, one with kitchen and one with bathroom. Staff very nice and very welcoming especially after driving a 12+ hour drive on the way there. Definitely will be back again.

We were well late of estimated arrival due to detours, construction and poor signage. We called and were told not to worry, drive safely and the keys would be waiting if office was closed. The keys were there. The room was clean (no stench of smoke or musty) with a comfortable chair that had a pleasant view of the rising sun.We were impressed and most thankful!

I wasn't expecting much for under $70 a night, but wow was I blown away when arriving! The place is a very cute 1 story motel. Flowers hanging in baskets. Colourful chairs placed in a welcoming manner. The hostess was extremely friendly and helpful. In the room was a binder full of phone numbers, location suggestions, brochures and other goodies!Motorcycle friendly, Service dog friendly (they didn't mind at all!), kid friendly, pet friendly!Room 3 was cozy (I personally hate wood paneling... But personal thing). We got 1 of 3 bathrooms that was newly remodeled. It has a beautiful stand up shower, square sink, square light fixtures. No spider webs, under the bed was clean. Sheets were soft and cozy! There was a power strip, so plenty of out let's.No cheap soap in the bathroom here!! They serve their guests the very best name brand, good smelling, hand soaps!! Best toilet paper. Towels were not those plain white hotel towels, these were soft, grey and matched the new bathroom. There was a book case full of books!Soap, mouth wash, chips, soda, tooth brushes and more travel sized items were available in the office if anything was forgotten. There is a fire pit and mini maze in the back. I couldn't find the hiking trails, but it was getting dark when I looked. Plenty of room in the back for frisbee, tag, or other running activities!I can't wait to book again and highly recommend reserving a room!!!!

We booked a room just a few days prior to our visit. We were delighted to find something that was cost effective available. We knew we were ultimately just sleeping and heading out to explore. We arrived very late and Tim was welcoming and understanding of our circumstances. We also left property behind and when we inquired about it he quickly placed it in the mail and we received it within two days of our departure. We hope to visit again! Thanks Tim (& family)!
