Unfussy cabins in an old-school lakefront resort serving 2 meals a day, plus canoes & tennis. This old-school lakeside cabin resort is a 12-minute drive from Highway 23. Most of the plainly dressed rustic cabins (including some log cabins) have unique configurations and may include such details as stone fireplaces, rough-hewn furnishings or screened-in porches. Breakfast and dinner (think straightforward meals such as spaghetti or prime rib with baked potato) are included in the rates. Activities on and off the lake (canoes, paddleboats, tennis, shuffleboard, kids’ play area and more) can keep you busy but there are also shady spots for lounging.

I will always claim Fireside chose us, not we chose it necessarily! Had a last minute cancellation on our Alpena Airbnb and needed new accomodations. We were lucky they had a cancellation and we ended up in a lovely little cabin with a fireplace and a screened-in front porch, a beautiful view of Grand Lake, and a wonderful staff to take care of our needs. The restaurant food was delicious, thank you! Thank you for welcoming The Sloans as a part of your extended family! We look forward to coming back for the Harsens Island Revenge premier! Will book our lucky cabin 7 as soon as we know when it will be!

On the beautiful shores of Grand Lake lies a hidden gem. Nestled in the woods of Presque Isle is an America Plan Resort with cabins and rooms on the spacious deck overlooking the lake. Breakfast and dinner are included along with a selection of dessert options. Canoes, kayaks, tennis/pickle ball court, tether ball as well as a newly redesigned volleyball court provide ample activities, and when you have tired of that, a relaxing swim in Grand Lake will rejuvenate you. The staff is amazing and the bell in the log tower is rung before breakfast and dinner to summon you to a scrumptious meal. Breakfast is made to order with options that include pancakes, French toast, eggs almost anyway you like and bacon and sausage on alternating days. A buffet style breakfast on Saturday sends you off ready for a drive home or a relaxing swing in a hammock. Come to the Fireside Inn for relaxation in a warm atmosphere with awesome people.

This was year 28 for my family at the Fireside Inn. We randomly send texts to each other through out the year counting down the days until we go back. We celebrate getting the RSVP in the mail in February. Christmas isn't just Christmas, its halfway to going back to the Fireside. The cabins are rustic, this isn't a luxury resort. This is the kind of place where the kids can run into the cabin right out of the lake. You can really put your feet up and relax, because the furniture is meant to be USED not just look pretty. You can have a fire in the cabin or at the lake on cool night. Hang a hammock somewhere about the property all week and take a nap after your FRENCH TOAST breakfast (there are other things for breakfast, but the french toast is something we specifically yearn for throughout the year). There are activities sometimes announced at breakfast, like: use found items and make a hat to wear to dinner tonight. There is a boat launch and dock space for private boats, or there are canoes, kayaks, lifejackets, bikes, and more available for anyone to use. Stargaze from the main dock on a clear night and see the Milky Way. Each cabin has its own history and minor amenities. You stay in the same cabin each year. We leave board games and puzzles in the cabinet for all the families to use. Bring a book, take a book. We accidentally left a dog leash one year.... it was waiting for us the following year. Many cabins have paintings of the cabin in them that guests have done and left over the years. You also stay the same week each year, so you're there with the same families year after year. Kids get to grow up together, and deep bonds are made with other guests. One family we know has a trust fund made by great-grandpa that exists only to pay for the family to continue to go to the Fireside Inn year after year. Its like summer camp for the whole family. The Fireside Inn is where our family reconnects every year, recharges our batteries, and refills our souls. It is literally a home away from home.

Family has been going every year since well before my mother was born. Great service, family treatment, the food is good, and it's a wonderful location. The frisbee golf course is a unique addition to a classic getaway, and overall there's no better place to spend some time with family and nature, with great lakeside access and tons of other sports equipment like shuffleboard, basketball, tetherball, and tennis!

Last Friday had a great turkey dinner. Probably the most tender turkey and fixings I've ever had. The kids enjoyed it, and the atmosphere is classic Grand Lake. It's a MUST if you're vacationing in the area.

This place is located on beautiful Grand Lake. The resort is a throwback in time. There are no TV's, telephones or internet. The cabins are rustic, but very clean. Breakfast and dinner are included in the room price. The meals are delicious and generous. Supposedly you can order seconds, but what they served you the first time was plenty. Beverages (non alcoholic) and dessert are included. The wait staff is young, personable and very efficient. There are kayaks, canoes and a paddle boat to use plus a basketball hoop and a tennis court. The lodge porch is a wonderful place to hang out and enjoy the view. There are at least 2 fire pits to gather around and enjoy the sunsets.Fabulous place to enjoy peace and quiet and the beauty of nature.

This place is absolutely amazing. It brings you back to your roots with its amazing atmosphere. I have never been to a more beautiful place and the only way to describe it as something you'd see in a move. If I could rate it a 10 star out of 5 I would. My family has been visiting every year for 40 years, it's truly that special.

If they would let me, I'd move in there.A cool Northern breeze just blew the cobwebs from my brain. I spent the week at the Fireside Inn in Presque Isle, Michigan. It is tranquil - towering, deep green balsam and spruce trees carpet the forest floors with fragrant pine needles. The warmth of the sun on the forest floor releases a captivating perfume peculiar to Northern Michigan. There is nothing like it.Endless food. Delicious and (important to a big eater like me) satisfying. How do they make their tuna macaroni salad? Something so simple, yet we were commenting on it. Three dessert choices - "homemade"! Eggs cooked exactly to order in the a.m. and pancakes with lacey brown edges. The grounds face the West, so you are guaranteed orange and pink sunsets over Grand Lake. Speeeeeeectacular. Friendly guests around the lakeside bonfire every night - you feel safe because it seems everyone gets to know one another and then watches out for each other. If you are a lone traveler, you are not alone by the time you leave (thanks, Kathy and Gene!). Whether intended, it's the signature of Fireside Inn.Fun owners who interact with their guests and can be silly to create the lighthearted, inclusive mood. Nice staff - the kids who wait tables in the Dining Room are as congenial and accommodating as you could hope for.Fireside has a unique vibe and the one word that comes to mind is: restorative. My allergies all but disappeared. I will be back. So highly recommended! Thank you very much, everyone!

What a fun place from 1908 you can rent a cabin or like us just go for dinner. If you stay the breakfast and dinner are included in your room rate. It's a set menu that changes daily very good and all you can handle. Be sure to let them know your comming and you will need cash no credit or debit cards excepted

Beautiful place but $80 per person, per night!!! Great if you're rich or saved all your life. They feed you break & lunch. Bur if you're on Grand lake to fish, this is not the place for you unless you are ready to spend cash. (You could go to OBX for the same price... Go there! )Mostly friendly while they take your money. After that, Kinda rude.

Called 2 weeks ahead for reservations for a party of 14. Lady on the phone was a pleasure to speak with a d very accommodating. We show up 10 minutes before our reservations to be seated and were told they will be splitting our party up. The tables were on opposite sides of the dining room. We complained and were then told that we should have showed up earlier if we wanted to all sit together. They were very rude. We will definitely not be recommending this place or dining here in the future.

Been coming here for 50 years and it's the greatest vacation 4 families ever. The man can do what they want and the women don't have to cook meals. And the kids can do whatever they want. Fantastic Place always has been.

We go there on Sunday morning for breakfast. You can order just about any breakfast item and go back for seconds and thirds for no extra charge. Plus a very happy and pleasant wait staff. One of our favorite places. Open only in the summer time I believe.

My family has gone here every year for some 19 years or so, I've been coming since I was less than a month old, can firmly say that I have only had great experiences here. A week I always look forward too.

First time here for the buffet. Did not eat. The cooks would rather chit chat with patrons instead of doing their jobs: keeping the buffet table full. Orange juice is good though...

So many memories have been made here. A little rustic spot off the grid, where you are provided with many summer activities. They fill up quick!! Food is good too.

Fireside is one of the hands down best places to stay for a vacation, relaxing weekend, or even a lakeside dinner. My grandparents had their honeymoon there and my family has been going up north for 26 years (and going strong). We look forward to the lake, the food and especially the friends we've made over the years. As a previous commenter said there's no TV Internet or AC here, but it's got so many other things to help you unplug from the world. In addition to unparalleled access to Grand Lake, Lake Huron is only a stones throw away, there's kayaking, tennis, volleyball and even frisbee golf! And the sunsets are something from Van Gough's paintbrush himself.

Rustic, low keyed, hospitable place. No tv, no clocks. A bell to call you to breakfast and dinner. Good swimming. Tennis. Horse shoes. Bocci ball. Tether ball. Kayaks. Canoes. Great place to just be. :)

Got quoted $100 over the phone and then when I got ready to pay, the man on the phone changed his mind and said it was going to be $150 and that he misquoted. Poor customer service skills will prevent me from ever staying at this place.
